really hard to split the top 3 Barlow kicked a goal and Pearce kicked 2 i think Barlow will get the 3 votes the next 2 could go either way

I feel the major floor in SC is that they do not reward players that play well while a team is being beaten fairly badly, but then reward guys that are the cause of even or swinging the contest their way. I agree that the latter should be rewarded but so should the other.
In this case, Heppell was clearing trying to and being the player that held the Bombers from being demolished early, yet other players were rewarded more than him for getting Essendon into the game (e.g. Davey)

Only had 52% disposal efficiency and 4 clangers which was equal most for Essendon. Score was right.

Lids wasn't in the best 10 players, played absolutely shower and if he gets then by Jesus what game doesthe umpires watch. He didn't touch the ball once in the last quarter. Last quarter is usually the biggest influence on votes

Hmm he probably will get it because the umpires like to give it to known players. But Vickery was good
I thought Kreuzer was really good
Cotchin 3

Kreuzer 1
Yeah defs Kruze over lids easy
Vickery surely got a vote?

I thought he was the Tigers most influential over the first 3. Broke the lines and kicked a couple of goals while racking up the touches. He did go missing in the last (as did the rest of the team) but I think his first 3 were fantastic

Higgins junked it up in the last so I don't see him getting in. Libba was dominating the clearences all day and would have been right under the umpires nose, I think he gets in before Minno. The mids do generally rack up the votes, but he was really impressive for all 4 quarters. Goodes was also very impressive all game, he might even snatch the 2. Rocky and Moloney the two stand outs for the Lions, but players other then Ablett rarely if ever get votes in teams that get smashed. Dahlhaus is the guy who ignited them early. Nick Lower will get a ton of votes in the B&F for this game for shutting out Rich though.
Actually Tory Dickson slipped my mind. His forward pressure and tackling was a highlight. 18 touches as a lead up forward are good numbers so he might sneak in for one.
didn't see the full game, but agree with the Goodes vote. how many blokes have received brownlow votes in their first game? (non GC or GWS)

Can't argue with both these games. JP got a lot of contested ball so being right under the umpires nose might get the 3. Jack kicked 3 rotating between the guts and a flank so the 3 and 2 are between those 2. Mummy did have an awesome game. The only thing that might hurt him in the votes was his kicking at goal.
3 votes for Ablett is just automatic, Dixon was a star, a lot of the Saints faded out in the last so that might hurt them in the votes. Armitage was probably their best player up until the end of the 3rd. Hall had the purple patch in the 1st for the Suns to help set up the early lead.
So you reckon drop Minson for Libba?
Quote from: kilbluff1985 on March 31, 2013, 03:11:59 AM
So you reckon drop Minson for Libba?
I do. Watching the game, Libba was constantly getting first hand to the ball from the clearances. It was the one area they slaughtered the Lions from the start and he had a lot to do with that. He might even get the 3 ahead of Griffin.
I went to the HS to find the numbers.
Libba
28 disposals, 15 kicks, 13 handballs, 16 contested possessions, 75% efficiency, 5 marks, 9 tackles, 11 clearances (game high, Moloney had 8 for the Lions which was next best on the ground, Minno with 5 was the next Bulldog so 6 more then any other teammate), 1 free for, 1 free against, 6 inside 50's, 1 rebound 50, 1 score assist, 2 clangers
Griffin
27 disposals, 18 kicks, 9 handballs, 11 contested possessions, 70% efficiency, 7 marks (1 contested), 6 tackles, 3 clearances, 2 free for, 2 free against, 6 inside 50's, 0 rebound 50, 2 goals, 1 behind, no score assists, 4 clangers
Griffin kicked a couple of goals, but the umps love the guys in the clinches. Libba was the guy you noticed winning the clearances, getting the hard ball and laying the tackles. I would not be surprised if the votes are
Libba 3
Griffin 2
Goodes 1
They will be hard to split

Also I don't see Seleood being best on ground. Jimmy winning the game would help him out for votes.

Hibberd 2
Kommer 1

I would say goddard for 1 over Kommer

Hey KB, I watched the Essendon vs GWS game and I think Zaha and Hibberd should be switched around, Zaha was definitely best on. :)
Interesting Cameron got the Coaches' votes for the GWS vs Essendon game... In line for a Brownlow vote or two? ???

3 stevens
2 riewoldt
1 McEvoy
I would have McEvoy getting the 2 and Roo the one, McEvoy one them the game in the end by taking some great marks in the last quarter.

It was the 3rd quater he took all those marks and yeah I agree he was great but he got smashed in the hitouts by Warnock.
Thought Roo was fantastic early in setting up the win. Marked everything that came his way. Tough to split though
I thought Roo might have been best on. Was quiet in the last but was dominant when it counted early to establish the lead. Steven probably the 2 and Big Boy the 1 sounds about right.

based on a few things like NROO had a quite second half compared to his first and McEvoy got smashed in the ruck and umpires don't like givingvotes to ruckmen

Kieran Jack a bit stiff to not even get a vote?
33 touches, 11 tackles and a goal. Huge game and in terms of stats he went bigger than JPK. Guessing though that JPK was more efficient.

I think Hibberd did a lot of the hard stuff Ryder took a few good marks not much else most of Goddard's possessions were uncontested
OK fair enough :)
Hibbo did take some good marks down back.

did you see the giants game KB?
I reckon I would have given 3 to garlett, 2 to walker and 1 to ward personally.
Don't think Ward did enough considering the margin
Kreuzer got it down to the likes of Garlett
Think Walker set it up early
the actual feed down to garlett was relatively average, he just made it look good by burning off his direct opponent.
Ward made one error all game, which resulted in a behind (from memory). He had a quiet 4th after he'd basically run himself into the ground carrying the entire team, whenever he got the ball he seemed compsured and collected, and something came about because of it.
But did he really play a better game then the 3 Carlton blokes? I don't think so
Taking the margin into account has to be a stand out to get votes IMO like GAJ
taking into account the margin, I really think he did.
33 disposals, 9 marks, 2 tackles, 1 goal in a 96 point flogging?

Bookies have him as favourite to
Umpires love giving votes to him
Does Waite get the 3? If not he surely gets the 2
I am thinking
3. Waite
2. Heppell
1. Murphy
yeah my original thought was
Heppel 3
Waite 2
Carlisle 1
felt Carlisle won the game for Essendon
Carlisle starred, agree in thinking he has to poll!
I like the look of your votes, might be tight between Hepp & Waitie tho.
I think the 1 vote could have gone to a number of guys. Taggers generally won't get into the votes so I won't include those guys, Murphy was good all game long, Carlisle in the 2nd half, Tex, Gibbs did a good job on Goddard and won a lot of the ball, Melksham winning the game with his late goals will also stand out.
Carlisle got a bit of the ball early to and pretty much changed the game when he went forward
Quote from: kilbluff1985 on June 07, 2013, 11:43:11 PM

Yeah he did play well early on Waite before he became a headache for whomever played on him. I think you are right that the 1 has to go to an Essendon player. The more I think about it, Melksham could steal the votes with the late goals since it might stick in the umpires minds. I don't think the 1 going to Melksham or Carlisle will matter all too much in the grand scheme of things.
lol yeah good point
think i'll give it to Carlisle as he really got things going our way
if it makes you feel better i would have given Murphy votes if they won
Yeah which is why I took Murph out. In a winning team he gets the votes, probably the 2 behind Waite, but in a loss he probably misses out. Since it was such a close game you never know what they will do. I remember seeing Fev have a best on ground performance in a winning team and Judd got the 3. Knowing the umpires Waite could miss out all together.
it's possible i mean he didn't do a great deal in the 2nd half did he?
He kicked 2, 1 in each quarter. He also kicked number 7 to put Carlton back in front. Waite is my favourite Carlton player so I have a bit of bias when it comes to him, but when Carlton kicking the ball into him, he was unstoppable. Hurley sort of killed his influence, but he was able to lead up the ground and get some touches while still kicking 2 goals. He would have to be in the votes, but who knows.
Surely Stanton got 3 votes. What a performance.

Like most of them mate, but surely hanneberry's gotta get the 3? 42 possies and a goal, sure ROK had a lot of tackles but he had 15 less disposals. I reckon tackles don't catch the umpires eye as much. Agree with the rest though.
i heard Hannebery butchered it a bit and wasnt that affective
todays votes will be
Swan 3
Pendles 2
Shaw 1
about to do the ladder and stuff
Ablett on 20 votes at the half way mark of the season :O hand the man the Brownlow now and be done with it :P
Whats the record for most Brownlow votes in a season?
59 by Gary Teasedale in 1979 back when BOTH field umpires were handing in seperate votes rather than coming to a group decision.
Graham Moss chalked up 48 votes in 1976 when the same voting system was used.
That was the only two years that system was used.
On the 3-2-1 system I believe the record was 34 by Swanny in 2011.
Yeah I'm hoping by doing this we can cash in on the quinella and trifecta markets that are really good value and maybe head to head bets
Just hope I'm fairly accurate with votes :-X

Dont think 2 carlton players will get the votes in a loss. Its tough though because Hawthorn were ordinary. I thouhgt Hodge was pretty influential

Yep I think that looks right. Tough because Judd and Mclean were very good but I think the votes go to the winners
yeah Gibbs, McLean, Judd, Simpson all deserves votes but i try to think like the umpires and as you say losing team usually doesn't get two players getting votes
I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being
3. Lake
2. Gibbs
1. Judd
Lake doesn't deserve votes over Mitchell imo and key defenders rarely get votes and 2 players from the losing team rarely get votes but your right Judd could over Hodge

I was at the game, swan is almost a certainty for 3 but cloke should get the 2 votes. 4 first half goals set us up for the win and pendles went quiet in the second term until about 7 mins to go. Shaw started slowly too and picked it up a little later.
Probably
Swan 3
Cloke 2
Pendles 1 for me with pendles over shaw only because umpires loving pendles but shaw probably deserved them more

was close game though
what you think about
Roughy 3
Hodge 2
JJK 1
^That looks good to me. JJK was huge for us tonight but we just didn't have the firepower to play out the 4 quarters. Roughy was well and truly in beast mode while Hodge was typically good.
Another who really stepped up was Gaffy, I'm not saying he should get votes but boy oh boy if he learns to break tags he is immensely dangerous forward of centre.
yea like those votes kb

1. R.Griffen
thinking the same but Griff clearly BOG maybe he might get the 3? GAJ style
Hmm maybe he might but he wasn't as damaging as he usually is IMO.
Houli was everywhere tonight and Grigg won a bunch of clearances.
Houli 3
Griffo 2
Grigg 1
Poor Boydy fought manfully :')
Only thing that stopped Boydy from polling was his disposal. Absolutely terrible tonight. :o
But yeah I'd say it will be tight between Grigg & Griff for the two..

Don't think Swallow was a standout though in a big loss I don't like giving points to a player in the losing team unless they are just about BOG like Griffin last night

Yep fair enough, think both are deserving but when in doubt you've probably got to go the player whose team dominated!
some tool on a facebook page reckons you cant get votes during a game if reported by an umpire he saying SJ cant get votes

3- Stanton

Hooker 3
Belly 2
Stanton 1
IMO
Ebert going off in the last Q4 with his hammy and we turned to shower, he definitely gets one IMO.
Really Goddard, Belly, Stants, Melksham, Ebert, Hooker, and Monfries deserved votes

Goddard?
2 or 3 of Monfries were soft as stole off Schulz etc Ebert deserves one ahead of him
3. Goddard
2. Hooker
1. Stanton

not done ladder yet, will see what people think because Carlton, Essendon, Saints games were extremely hard to give votes for
Agree kb, some Of these games have been near impossible. I would say the 5 best players on the ground last night were saints players but its not logical for all votes to go their way in a loosing side.
I think Coony was better than Griffin yesterday. Lewis was bog ahead of smith.
Would Lindsay Thomas atleast get 1 vote with a 6 goal game?
I thought colyer was bog for essendon.
Very tough round so far though
Colyer had 7 scoring involvements out of 18 goals... :P
Yeah I'll give Colyer the 3 I think
So would you just straight swap Cooney with Griff ?
Thomas only earnt like 2 or 3 of those goals rest were very cheap and he did like nothing else in the game he might get votes but not from me lol
Will give Lewis the 3 to
Thanks guys really appreciate the help
Yeah Cooney was very good I wouldn't be surprised if he polled, maybe instead of Griff as you say!
As for today's Richmond vs Fremantle, I'd say:
3. Cotchin
2. Rance
1. Riewoldt
I know Riewoldt might surprise, but he kicked some clutch goals so wouldn't be surprised if he polled... Otherwise Mzungu might sneak in for 1 vote seeing as he single-handedly kept them in the game in the 3rd...

SJ did nothing until the game was 100% dead.
I missed the game but yeah, not sure.
yeah your right lol maybe Hawkins 1 vote i dunno
Id probably give a vote to Steven on Montags and in the Pies game id give one to Cameron or Ward
I would give Tags the one vote in the Cats Saints game as well. Think he was better than Hawkins or SJ.
No votes to Cameron for 7 goals and almost getting GWS up?
7 goals in a losing side is huge! I'd argue its better than 8 goals in a winning side!
Cameron should defs get a vote!
I guess but he didn't do much else and they did end up losing by a fair bit and Beams got a bit of the ball
Sloaney will get a vote or two ;D SC still cheating him though for some reason ::)
Not sure Barlow gets one, Mayne perhaps?
Brock doesn't get the 3, actually I don't think he gets in the votes at all. Simmo, Scotty and Kreuz were the best, Murphy the next best. Brock did his work when the game was dead and buried along with Gibbs, although Gibbs was good defensively. Brock was shocking when it mattered with a few costly turnovers
Quote from: kilbluff1985 on July 28, 2013, 12:25:02 PM

they lost by 40 points- significant, but not exactly a massive flogging.
the giants kicked 10 goals, 7 by cameron and another one set up by cameron for scully.
cameron was directly involved in 8/10 of the giants goals... you've given 3 votes to franklin for kicking 8, when a lot of his goals were when the game was pretty much over, compared to cameron who kicked all his goals to pretty much single handedly put the giants in front.
just seems like an odd discrepancy :P
Franklin had 19 touches to go with his 8.3 and his team won by 56 points
Cameron had 11 touches for 7.1 and his team lost by 40 points
Plus Beams had like 37 touches so I thought he'd be stiff to miss out on votes
Franklin was clearly BOG in his game as there was no real stand out other then him where as Cameron is competing with Swan, Sidebottom and Beams who all had excellent games
Makes sense to me
I completely agree Cameron deserves votes but its hard to see someone with 37 touches in the winning team not getting votes isn't it?

I couldn't really split the 3 of them so I wouldn't be surprised if Scotty, Simpson or Kreuz get the 3. Every time Simpson touched the ball it was class and he was running up and down the wing all game, Scotty racked it up but had a couple of turnovers which puts him just below Simpson for me, Kreuz was everywhere but rucks rarely get votes.

last vote for Sydney game was out of Mitchell and Martin i didnt watch it was hard to split the stats but Mitchell had 13 tackles so gave it to him
I only watched the last quarter but Mitchell was pretty prolific from what I saw, lots of possessions as kicked a goal to put the tigers out of reach.
In a match that was decided by 9 points hard to see a Brisbane player not getting a vote so would put Rockliff in for one vote.

He was probably Brisbane's best player. He wasn't really a stand out though. Any number of players could get the votes after Boak in that game.

Ward 3
Whitfield 2
Cameron 1
??
Didn't watch it
Ward
Smith
Scully
imo
yeah, I think tbag has it about right.... although scully/ whitfield is a bit of a coin toss.

Rocky 3
Redden 2
Luey 1
Fyfe 3
Barlow 2
Walters 1
thoughts??
Fyfe went nuts in the second but was quiet the other quarters. The two most consistent performers were on the losing side in Simmo and Scotland, but when you get smashed by that much it will be tough to get a vote let alone the 3. Tuohy was also really good kicking 3 goals off half back but if I was to give votes
Fyfe
Walters
and then the last vote is a toss up between Ballantyne, Barlow, Scotland, Simpson and Tuohy.
I watched all of the Swans Dogs game and most of the Pies Bombers
Swans/Dogs
3. Jack
2. Griffen
1. McVeigh
Bombers/Pies
3. Sidebottom
2. Harry O
1. Reid
Tough game to give votes but I think Sidebottom and Harry O were the two best and Reid made a huge difference up forward.

it's really annoying to undo the ladder so please speak up now
Looks perfect to me mate.
Jelwood out to a 4 vote lead! Incredible last few weeks, much deserved.
yeah but seems strange i may have been a bit Generous to Jelwood at some stage i don't know but guess he could easily of had 9 or 10 BOG's this year
Jewood has been amazing, deserves every vote imo!
btw, looks awesome kb. Can't wait until brownlow medal night to see how close this is!
thanks guys i'll do the ladder now
hoping we can nail a trifecta bet this year they were good value last year
ok ladder updated
Honestly I'm not surprised Jelwood is up there. He has had some big big games where he would get a lot of 3 votes.
KB do you have a record of who was leading after Round 10? Looking at some to the betting odds and Jelwood is paying $51

hate to disagree with you mate but surely Black with a game high 28 possessions and still showing his slicky skills would have got 2 votes behind Mayes and I would have given the one vote to Toby Greene who was imo 2nd best player on ground although playing for GWS Had 31 possessions as well.

Sorry if i sounded harsh Ringo replied when had just woken up earlier i do appreciate the help
No worries no offence taken and I was a little slow on the take up as well. Forgot about the weekly thread.
Ok, so I'm really bored. So I decided to group these Brownlow Votes by team:
Adelaide: 49
BL: 50
Carl: 68
Coll: 76
Ess: 71
Freo: 80
Geel: 80
GCS: 51
GWS: 12
Haw: 81
Melb: 11 ::)
NM: 65
PA: 63
Rich: 73
StK: 31
Syd: 93 8)
WCE: 49
WB: 50
lol Ablett 25 of 51 votes
3. Simpson
2. Goddard
1. I can't split Ryder/Yarran/Gibbs
No Hurls? 3 goals 2 assists?
Easily Kade and God though
i like
Goddard 3
Simpson 2
Pears/Hooker
thought Pears was really good Goddard and Simpson hard to split just went Goddard cause Essendon won :P

2 Votes = Z. Clarke
1 Votes = M. Pavlich
they are the proposed votes i not done the ladder yet
i only watched the Essendon game today so really stuck on the Freo game and Hawks game
In my opinion, it was;
3 Votes = J. Thomas
2 Votes = D.Swan
1 Votes = S.Pendles
Swan stood out more than pendles. Did a few runs and was just much more noticeable on the night, would be surprised if pendles scored the two above him
yeah your prob right might change that
Lobbe has to get a vote.
40 hitouts, 15 touches most of which contested, 15 tackles.
He murdered Clarke in the ruck, deserves the 1 imo.
Pav kicked his goals when the game was dead!
Even though Carlton lost, it was only by a goal. I still thought Simpson was BOG. The man was everywhere and was winning every important ball that went his way. He and Goddard were the two best by a mile, and because it was such a close game I thought it was difficult to split the 1. There were possibly 5 guys that could have claimed it.
ok thanks guys
so ele do you think
fyfe 3
Lobbe 2
Clarke 1
??
People seem to think Clarke was close to best on.
I would be happy with
Fyfe
Clarke
Lobbe
Umps would notice Clarke's couple of goals more than Lobbe's tackles I think. Still, giving two ruckmen votes feels wrong :P
yeah that's why i didn't give Lobbe votes in the first place because Clarke had to get votes being in the winning team not many standouts
Clarke was a standout IMO, Lobbe was good but wasn't as effective as Clarke.
Like I said, I'd be happy with Fyfe, Clarke, Lobbe. Dont think there were too many standouts. Only other could have been Robbie Gray, even then... Not too sure.
lions match my thoughts
3. Adcock
2. Libreatore

Cox should get 1 vote dominated Jacobs
Stokes will get votes over Selwood today.
And I would say cox gets a vote. 27 possessions, 8 marks, 27 hit outs. That's just massive from a ruckman
Tough call though seeings they got belted
yeah was going to give Cox a vote but they did get flogged but guess he deserves one
do you think

Jelwood

Watching most of the Cats game until the last quarter, Selwood was terrible. Ash McGrath was clear BOG up until that point with Bartel number 2. Rockliff, Stokes, Zorko, Rich and Stevie J were all really good as well. Considering the Cats ended up winning
Bartel
McGrath/Rockliff
Stokes
The Carlton Port game, the 3 goes to either Murph or Ebert. Ebert was quiet in the last but dominated 3 first 3 quarters. Of that game I would maybe go something like this
Ebert
Murphy
Yarran
The reason I have given Yarran the 1 is because he was huge in getting Carlton back into the game.

I don't know man lol I'm sit sure how accurate I'll be but I'm quietly confident he should win but do not suggest putting your house on it maybe your car ? Lol
So relieved I'm finished for the year lol
I do think Jelwood has had 10 BOGs and Ablett like 9 that's my theory anyway

haha ok just the car then.
I do like that trifecta though
Sportsbet have an option called "favourite Out" so who will get the most votes besides Ablett
Jelwood is @2.10 reckon that's easy money
they now have teams votes open to
I have my own count which is similar but has the top 4 a little closer together, wouldn't be surprised of swan is within a vote or two. Will upload my count later to compare.

My Brownlow leaderboard. A few of the results might surprise people including number Swan at the top. But the top 4 are so close in my opinion that any of them could win it. Swan and Pendles will steal votes off each other, but unlike last year Beams wont be around stealing 14-15. Sidebottom, Cloke, O'Brien will all get 5-6 votes but no other serious vote getters.

Selwood and mitchell will sow up the 3 & 2. Could be either order but think since it was such a close game they will still give the 3 votes to mitchell in a losing side. Any of 3 or 4 players couldve got the 1.

Haha, I think we can all agree on the top 4, its just just a matter of order. Unfortunately they don't allow multi's on most team votes any more, used to be a good way to get some handy odds.

Trifectas out on Sportsbet ;D
Ablett Selwood Pendles is $18 :o
People that think Selwood ducks need to pay more attention ::) He doesnt duck at all. When he is tackled he shrugs his shoulders to get out of it which often causes the tackle to slip up above the shoulder. Theres a big difference between that and ducking. He is as tough as nails

Not saying it's my opinion. It's just a general opinion and Brucey Mc even highlighted him when Pop got a free against Sydney.

I didn't realise they were always. I like the bottom two
Thinking of laying a few sneaky bets:
Sloane to beat Judd ($1.30) $10
Libba to beat Wingard ($1.45) $30
Sam Mitchell to beat KJack ($1.93) $10
Roughead to beat Mundy ($1.65) $20
Cash in: $60
Potential out: $94.30
Thoughts?
Yeah looks good mate

So the Brownlow markets are well and truly out. The question is who is everyone betting on and what are some strategies we can take as a whole group to win some money back of these betting agencies.
Are we going to here the term ' G.Ablett 3 votes' too many times this year for him to cruise to victory or is Joel Selwood, Swanny or Pendles going to come close to the messiah himself.
At this current time my thoughts are as following:
Ade Danger
Bris Rockcliff
Carl Murphy/Simpson/Judd/McLean/Walker (WOW)
Coll Swan/Pendles
Ess Watson
Freo Fyfe/Barlow
Geel Selwood
GC No Comment
GWS Cameron/Ward
Haw Mitchell (Roughy could poll well too)
Melb N.Jones
North Harvey/Petrie/Wells (raffle of the winner here)
Port Boak
Rich Cotchin
Syd Jack (Hannebury, Kennedy, ROK could all impose)
StK Montagna (Steven the only threat)
WB Griffen ( Libba will come close but there lies an uncertainty in how he goes with the umpires)
WC Priddis
Lets get some discussion going on how we are betting and who do we think will get each teams most votes & trifectas and quinellas. Giddyup!
Well Sportsbet apparently now have multis for most team votes 5 leg maximum just started today
i'm not overly confident in my ladder TBH still think GAJ will win but really not sure a site i'm on has Ablett 1st Pendles 2nd Selwood 3rd to
i'm personally sticking with the trifectas you can kinda cover yourself with them just with $10 bets etc but dead heat rules do apply :'(
Trifecta
Ablett /Pendlebury /Selwood @ 31.00
Trifecta
Selwood /Ablett /Pendlebury @ 41.00
Selwood /Pendlebury /Ablett @ 67.00
Trifecta
Pendlebury /Ablett /Selwood @ 91.00
there my current ones i've done odds would have changed as i put them on day they started trifectas
plan to do a couple more with Swan involved maybe as cover just like $10 bets on each kind of thing
trouble is on Brownlow Night remembering them all lol
Going through each team:
Haven't seen Adelaide too much, and they had a poor season, so wouldn't expect Danger to finish top 10
Rocky should poll extremely well in the second half of the season, however would be surprised if he got more than 3 or 4 votes before the bye.
Don't think there will be a stand out at Carlton.
Personally, I think Pendles should poll much better than Swan. However, because Swan gets the ball so much, he will likely get many undeserved votes and really hurt Pendles' chances. Pendles should still finish top 3 though, but don't think he'll beat Jelwood or Ablett.
Watson missed too many games, could still sneak into top 5 though.
Freo mids will share votes I think, Barlow may just edge out Fyfe and Mundy.
Selwood will definitely give Ablett a run for his money, think that R23 game should decide it, with Ablett getting 3 votes, and Selwood not polling.
Agree, no comment needed for gold coast, haha.
Too difficult to poll many votes in a team that wins 1 game in a season. In a few years though, would expect Ward to do very well.
Not sure if there will be a massive standout for the Hawks either, Mitchell will probs poll the best though.
Same deal as GWS, haven't won enough games. Jones should get a vote here and there though.
Think Harvey will go alright, but games missed early means he won't get too close to leaders.
Haven't seen enough of Port, so not going to comment.
Don't think Cotchin has much of a chance, as players like DUsty, Lids, Ellis will steal a lot of votes. Expect him to lead voting at Tigerland though.
Should be an even spread at the Swans. Jack and one of JPK/ROK could go very well.
Didn't see Montagna in the first half of the season, but think he'll go well in the 2nd half at least. Steven and Nroo should also go alright.
Griffen should do very well, definitely top 10. Not sure how high he'll go though with DOgs not winning a lot of matches. Libba and Minson will go OK.
Priddis never really has any standout games, so don't think he'll go great. Could see him getting a lotof 1 voters though.

Does anyone think Harley Bennell represents value at $4 to beat Prestia in GC most votes w/out Ablett?

Yep your spot on he has missed many game. But has Prestia impressed enough to outvote Bennell? Bennell polled 6 votes in the 2012 brownlow when GC won less games. He has played some decent games this year along with Prestia & Jaegar. They should finish around 5-9 votes each but does Bennell impose value at odds of 4/1?

Agree. Havent made up my mind logically and reasonably which way it will fall between Pendles & Swan but Swan has proven to outvote pendles for the past couple of seasons.
So has anyone put any team multis on?
Who are your bankers? Your swingers that you will add to some multis? and your outside value picks?

Yeah I got $25 on that cause I'm pretty confident
Also in the Brownlow specials elite player handicap I got on Pendles +5 when he was @10.00 is now fav over Ablett in this special @6.00 lol
So could win some decent money unless some weird crap happens especially if I hit a trifecta
Im looking at carltons votes and its too hard to call. I'm leaning towards McLean & Judd going 1,2 respectively.
I'd stear clear of Carlton's team votes McClean, Murphy, Judd, Simpson even walker have a strong chance

Good work mate, There is money to be made in the team betting as they tend to get a few areas wrong each year.
You don't think Swallow did enough before his injury to poll most votes for Kangas? Think he's a good shot at a rough bet.
Also got on Cane Kornes as I could not resist the odds of $51 which have come right in to $12 within a few days!
A few other roughies I have my eye on are Nick Riewoldt, not convinced on Priddis as I think Cox, Kennedy and Masten have had a pretty consistent year until right at the end for Kennedy. Libba could just beat out Griffen, but not sure how Griffen has polled previously. I think Stevie J will poll top 5, pity about the suspension. Murphy is not too bad a bet at $3, noone else has really shone, but who knows with how much the umps love Judd, Kreuz started well too until injury. Sydney is tough because they could all poll around the same area, but a sneaky on ROK might be worth it, had him at $51 too which has come right in now.
Anyway I might put some multi's out there with dead certs and add 1 or 2 roughies to hopefully snag a big payout.
nah Swallow had hardly any clear BOG games where as Harvey had 4 or 5
what do you guys think about the doubles sportsbet has Freo/Pendles@29.00 looks good value worth $10 i reckon

Barlow over fyfe, fyfe was very very good, but perhaps think a little overhyped and still not in the top 4 or 5 players going around as a lot would suggest.
Boomer by about 5 votes
JPK a long third, jack/hanneberry prettyy much square on my count.
Ward good value, think he will get it with 3 votes in thier only win.

I'm leaning more twards Fyfe now, I think it was last year before he got injured he was leading the count, the guy gets noticed and gets votes so I think he will be a lot higher than people think, shame he got rested, guy should win a brownlow in his career I reckon if Freo can string together a few good seasons and not get any more injuries.
Thinking more and more than Swan is going to be right up there with votes past Pendles now. The guy polls like previous players Voss and Black who just rack them up from being on the ground and getting the ball, think he is in the same category, he just doesn't stand out as much as Ablett and Selwood, but he is a big danger to upset so roping him into all my trifectas.

Well Blues, Port & Tiges will share the vote around, but Jackson or Wingard have never really polled and its normally the year after they breakout that they start getting votes. Look at Swan, that year everyone thought he was a shoe in he lost and then won the very next year. Don't think Murphy has polled that well in the past and I think the theory stands he will poll better now that he is more of a recognised player.
Don't think Mclean will poll as well as everyone thinks. Goddard one is tough cos I rated him the 2nd best player on their team this year behind Watson, but with looking around at brownlow tipping he looks right out of it so he could go either way I think. Roo has had a great season and not sure why he isn't getting the recognition, guy has been a workhorse all year, Montagna has been solid without getting noticed too much...

Couldn't agree with you more on your background theory.
Everyone knows Roo has had a great season, but the matter of the fact is its the dilemma "will forwards poll enough votes?" We could argue this and that, but who knows exactly what the umpires want from forwards to award them the 3 or 2 votes? Is it goals, contested marks, a bit of this and that? I do think goddard/mclean might get closee to roey in that group and even ziebell too.

I've got Ablett 29
Jelwood 27
Pendles 26
Mitchell 24
Swan 22
Hannebery/Barlow/Stevie J 20
Mitchell just needs to place and all your trifectas fall to pieces kb :P
There was this guy on the Footy Show who has predicted the past 11 brownlows, and one a few hundred thousand on the brownlow last year - he thinks Sammy Mitchell will bring it home :o
no way Mitchell has had a better year then Pendles, Selwood or Ablett don't care what that guy says

+1
Mitchell's been at HB - so many cheap disposals - nowhere near as good as 2012
Yeah don't think Sam Mitchell has any chance at all at winning it this time. Ablett, Pendles, Swan, Selwood and Jack all had too good of a year for him to stand a chance.
So excited for this not sure if it's cause of this thread all the time I put in this season or my bets lol
Who am I kidding :-X
yeah I spent about 5 hours over past two days on it!!
Ablett 29
Selwood 27
Pendles 26
Mitchell 24
Swan 22
Hannebery/Barlow/Stevie J 20
Watson 19

what I'm getting on is Elite Handicap:
Pendles +5
Mitchell +6.5
Ineligible Handicap:
Stevie Jay +4

5. Mitchell (22)
6. Jack (21)
7. Hannebery/Griffen (20)

Wait, for this type of bet, for example, does Pendlebury + 5 just need to beat the winner (let's say GAJ who has no handicap), or everyone with a handicap, eg Roughy + 10?

he needs to beat everyone with a handicap; he needs to beat all players listed under that market. Hence, why the odds are so high

Oh now I understand
Got Griffo @ $42 and very happy with that bet! Should go close! Selwood is my tip though
Just spent a while doing my own count, here's my results:
1: G. Ablett - 30
2. J. Selwood - 29
=3rd: P. Dangerfield, D. Swan - 24
5th: N. Fyfe - 23
6th: S. Pendlebury - 22
=7th: J. McVeigh, R. Griffen - 21
=9th: L. Hodge, S. Johnson, T. Cotchin, M. Barlow - 20
13th: S. Mitchell - 19
14th: J. Watson - 18
15th: D. Hanneberry - 17
The real suprises for me in there were Dangerfield, McVeigh and Cotchin. I didn't think danger had a good season at all really but then again I hardly saw any crows games, he gets off to a really fast start before tiring. Mcveigh continues to go under the radar, has had an excellent season off half back and was unlucky to be all australian, I guess not so surprising he polled well then. I thought Cotchin had a shocking season, and that 20 votes may end up being well off, he had some very good patches though and is a proven vote getter. We shall see!
PS mate you have 2 luke hodges in your final results, one on 4 votes and one on 12, I guess his total should be 16.
Lol yeah I'm guessing 16 will have to check later thanks for that
IMO Pendlebury is the biggest surprise on your list he has easily had 8 or 9 BOG games did you watch the games or just going off stats?

Tbh going off stats a lot, did watch quite a few of the games though. Although he had some very good games, quite a few times when that happened other pies mids like swan ball etc did well also, could raffle the votes between them :-\. Gut feeling is he's a couple of votes too low, we'll know in 24 hours though :)
Obviously he is kb.

That's why I said it was surprising lol, I didn't think he had a particularly good season, having not watched many crows games. Then going back over the games I realised he did have a good season, particularly the 1st half of the year.

Just calm down it is not easy to predict - I had Kane Cornes after Ports start on 11 votes after round 11 but has only scored 5 so way out. However predicted Hanneberry to get 26 votes so may get that one hope he finishes top 5.
Lynch kicks 10 and only gets 2 votes lol
I'm sorry but have I missed something. Hannebary isn't that good he shpuldnt be up with those names.
Robbed me of my ablett leading at round 10.
Also I vote every year for swallow to top the roos, switch to Boomer and they finally respect swallow.

Stokes had 35, Bartel 35 and Rocky 37. McGrath kicked 6 goals. Selwood was never gonna get votes
Agree with Round 16. Was a low possie game though
I bet the bookies are pretty happy right now that Sean Brady came out with his prediction of Sam Mitchell to win 8)
Few good value winners of top team votes - Walker, Swallow, Libba and I'm pretty sure there was a Geelong market without Selwood and Johnson. Harry Taylor would have been lengthy odds for that one I think :o
Pendles was robbed.
Stevie J might be a bit dirty with himself at the moment. Had he kept himself on the park he might've won that thing tonight with the extra games he'd have played.
Good on Ablett, happy he got it over Selwood.
Yeah lots of team multis didn't pay off :(
happy for ablett, would love to have seen selwood get up.
always liked him, but Swan appeared like an absolute tosser tonight. he just reeked of someone who didnt care and didnt want to be there.

Mm, Well done KB. Lots of work put it into this and was fun chipping in. Good stuff man :)
Hit quite a lot of multis with some roughies in Swallow and Libba! Cleaned up pretty nicely in the quinella, trifecta, groups and h2h's too! MY favourite time of the year!
Ablett deserved it, a cut above the rest of the league and in a bottom 8 side to boot which I'm suer doesn't happen very frequently.
Stevie J polled well as I thought, but he wasn't rested because he missed so many games, he would've been rested anyway, but prob not quite 6 games.
Only thing that I'm annoyed with is taking Pendles in a few multis instead of of Swan when I thought Swan would be higher all along. Oh well, I'm finished with a nice profit. Hope everyone else did too! :)

I guess only if you add JM and JOM but they cheated to get them so they don't count!
our best forward, back and ruck are better than theirs for starts
Tbag how did GC cheat to get JM and JOM? We got Crouch the exact same way GC got them. You basically just said we cheated ::)
I got on Scooter at $151 last night...now all we need is Sumich to coach us back to the top 4! ;D

No because we had an established side, they had 25 kids and dint need two more 17yr olds, you should have known that ::)
Not trying to make sure you put the best team you can on the park is tanking my friend ;)
Lol
Smith better then Jacobs
Thompson better then Talia
Dixon better then Walker
Nicholls better then Jenkins
Ablett better then Danger
JOM better then Sloane
Add Bennell and Martin and a bunch of others to that

I'm pretty sure I'm a marginal Nostradamus! 8) Thank you Swallow and Libba for sweetening my multis! ;)

Wait, so an established side is allowed free-crack at the best 17 year olds in the country but the sides that have only just been created and are still finding their feet aren't allowed to?
flower mate, you make Andrew Demetriou look like an outstanding CEO ::)
How does a 17yr old who cant play and a first year player help a very young team, maybe some bigger older experienced bodys with those picks might have helped ;)
If anyone disagrees with what I am saying you are na
I'm not the one being stupid

Has Dixon kicked 63 goals? Did Thompson win the NRS?
So Crouch and who? Douglas and who?
Also you forgot the other 15 best players
you call me stupid?
You called me stupid first
Any Coach would rather GC list over Adelaide's

You can't exactly just poach opposition teams best, bigger bodied players can you?
Guess you'd rather Jaeger to Danger then. Ok.
Possibly, having the legend and 5 other superstar young mids is handy! However
:P I said don't be stupid, didn't say you were!
I really rate this group of players and fyi I am not the only crow who thinks Laird and Brown will be the best small back due in out history
Laird, Smith, Crouch, Talia, LJ, Grigg, Kerridge, Lyons, Ellis-Yolman,
Add some experience of quality players VB, Vince, Douglas, Reilly, JJ, Wright, Riley, Hendo (Is fantastic), Thommo, add the superstars to this group and we have something
This is a team that almost stole a GF from Hawthorn, beat Geelong twice in the last two years, Won in Perth by 90 points, until the Suns do anything like this you are only speculating on potential!
Also, until Dix, Smith, Thompson ect perform like a Walker, Talia, Sauce I will say my boys are better
No doubt the Suns are building wonderfully, I'm just not happy with the way they went about it, I also think that people are quickly forgetting how good we were last year! We've added ripper players Brown, Laird, Keriddge, Grigg and Crouch this year and four of them RS noms! Don't underestimate how good this group is!
I'm very happy with our team and would coach them over Gold Coast anyday!. I would love to see the Suns step up and be a contender! The comp needs it as does Queensland!
Probably would have Danger El but I will have Crouch over JOM thanks :o
Haha tbag, never fail to make me smile :P
