Hello guys, I am Jayman the new head coach of the mighty Pacific Islanders Football Club. I would just like to take a moment to acknowledge the fine work of c4v3m4n on getting the Islanders up and running and providing a young quality list for me to work with as well as attracting a large amount of interest in this great football club.
In this thread I will include and update many key parts of the Islanders including draft picks, results, announcements etc.
Stay tuned... :)

STADIUM
The Islanders will now give you a sneak peak of our new stadium based in Port Moresby...
Mercury ArenaThis should be big enough for our large supporter base but on some big occasions I see the 91,170 capacity being an issue. Hopefully we can cram in all our faithful Islander fans though.
TEAM SONG
Written by Jukes in collaboration with Freddie Mercury
Performed by Queen
We've paid our dues
Time after time
We served our suspension
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
We've made a few
We've had our share of goals kicked against us
But we've come through
We are the champions - our fans
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
Cause we are the champions - of the world XVs
We've taken our bows
And our curtain calls
You brought us fame and fortune and everything that goes with it
We thank you all
But it's been no field of dreams
No pleasure cruise
We consider it a challenge before the entire world
And we ain't gonna lose
We are the champions - our fans
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
Cause we are the champions - of the world XVs

The Iguanodons, named after a supposedly long-extinct dinosaur (http://www.trueauthority.com/cryptozoology/newguineaprnt.htm), will play their home games at Lloyd Robson Oval, a ground in Port Moresby which has a capacity of just over 10,000 as of early 2013. There are plans by the Pacific Islanders to increase this to 22,000 in the near future through redevlopments, in addition to state-of-the-art training facilities next door at the Tom Rockliff Centre of Excellence.

First game of 2013 review
So the club had their first game under coach Jayman last weekend and everything went well. The standouts include Sam Gibson, Matt De Boer, Claye Beams and also coach's pet Luke Brown made an impact and is looking to force his way into the best XV
We would like to see a bit more from Matty Leuenberger as he regains fitness. Rhys Stanley was disappointing but we have no worries that he will have a great 2013
We are in an interesting division involving Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Wellington and also New Delhi.
Keep an eye out as we take on the Armadillos this weekend

BREAKING NEWS
Jukes hands in his resignation - what does this mean for the Islanders?Today we heard shocking news that football operations manager, Jukes is pursuing a head coaching role in Moscow. We wish him all the best and thank him for his services but of course we are sad to see him go. The Islanders assure there fans there will be no mercy next time we come up against Moscow.
We are now looking for someone to take Jukes' very important role and an announcement is expected to be made in the coming days...
lol Jay you obviously have announced it before jukes announced it :P

no probs buddy was just amusing is all ;)
:P Let the Jbag combo begin :P
In news that footy ops manager, Jukes is off to Moscow we have searched the nation far and wide to find a replacement for him. In our search we noticed a small club called the Tibet Llamas in which the quantity young talent really jumped out at us. We think, that coach deserves a shot at the big time with the most promising young list in WXV.
So to whoever has Taylor Walker, watch out next trade period because we now have tbagrocks joining the Islanders.

Ain't got nothing on Elechet (or Ricophant) :P
So I thought I should get in on the action and release my 2013 membership campaign for the Islanders. Don't worry, you will not see us spamming the front bar, we will go about our business quietly but secretly building the best young team XV comps have ever seen!

So get on board and start supporting :D
Media guru Mr X
The Islanders were happy with the first weeks performances, Ben Howlett the star, the young Islanders stood up inn the first game and the fans really responded to the vibe around the Islands.
The new Coaching staf is pleased with how the team has responded and are confident they have the trust of the players, the training in the last few months has been amazing and those around the Islands believe the Islanders can push for a finals berth, they understand the work involved but believe the processes and structures in place can produce quicker than expected results.
The Islanders are happy, everything has gone right since the recent takeover and the sponcers believe the club is in a great position, the fans also agree and the recent trial for the reserves will prove the support with 5000 fans present
The new wave over the Pacific Islanders has begun and the fans couldn't be more happy, the JayBag has commenced and the Islanders are excited!
Always a soft spot for the Islanders, go for gold!

No. You're senior assistant, tbag is co-coach
So on the eve of Round 2 we think it would be a good time to go over what happened last weekend.
Pacific Islanders (18.10.118) lost to New York Revolution (20.12.132)
Unfortunately the boys had a tough loss over in New York. We were gallant in defeat but unfortunately didn't have the consistency to get over the line. Unfortunately Dean Terlich was not able to take his place in the starting side and young Luke Brown had to step up to the plate, this did not go well. Brown got subbed off in Q3 due to an ankle problem - we still have high hopes for this kid and was going well before the injury. He is expected to take part in the lineup this week as will Dean Terlich.
Also youngster Claye Beams made his WXV debut and impressed after coming on as the sub. The sub killed us this round with much maligned Sam Blease also copping the green vest. There were a couple of outstanding performances for the Islanders, Benny Howlett had a career best game and earnt his right to step up as VC in round 2. And as always Tom Rockliff played a blinder as captain and nearly took the game away from the Revolution.
On a better note... Viney, Mohr and Frost impressed for the 2's
Reserves
Port Morseby Iguanadons (12.10.82) defeated Washington Rebellion (12.7.79)
Islanders have a tough road ahead I think Jay, but are in good hands!

Thanks Oss. Yeah I look forward to taking the Islanders into the future. Never know, with some good trading and possible breakout performances we could start to challenge earlier than many expect! :)
Media Guru Mr X
Young star draftee Jack Viney will debut this week for the Islanders, the club was delighted to recruit the sone of Melbourne FC Legend Todd, the JayBag is so far excited by the former management and recruiting staff.
Jack gets his opportunity after staring on trace pre-season and a BOG performance in the reserves last week. Jack was so good the Coaching staff had little trouble naming the teenager this week in a crucial match for the Islanders!
Young gun Jack Viney last week
We need and expect improvement from this young list this week and Jack is a big part of that, we weren't bad last week but there are areas we can improve, Jack's ability to win the ball will really help us this year and the supporters are set to turn up to see the youngsters debut!
A long road ahead for a young playing group but the talent and enthusiasm is there, we are confidant of getting a win very soon.
Nice write up tbag
Certainly a future gun player that is for sure :D
tbag co-coach
It has been approved... The Islanders officially welcome tbagrocks as co-coach! He has great knowledge of the game especially the youngsters (see his work at Tibet) and we believe he is the perfect guy to help us build for the future. We still have tabs as senior assistant and he will help sort out any times where tbag and I can not agree. Unfortunately nrich has stepped down and will be seeking other opportunities elsewhere.
Islanders win!
In other news, the young Islanders knock off top 4 fancied Samurai in the biggest upset of 2013. This match showed a lot of WXV followers that the Islanders mean business. Our goal is to dominate long-term and be competitive in the short-term and the game against Tokyo just showed us a glimpse of how strong the Pacific lineup will be in a few years.
There were some serious standouts from the game. Jamie Elliot had a career defining game racking up 20 touches and kicking 5 goals, not bad for a 20 year old in only his second season. Ben Howlett backed up his BOG performance last week with 127. Jeremy Howe has been a shining light so far this season averaging 106. Matty Leuenberger returned from injury and made his club debut, he played very well scoring 101, can't wait to see what he does at 100% fitness. Again Tommy Rockliff had a great captains performance again cracking the ton.
Jamie Elliott - break out year maybe?
+10
Royals too good
Unfortunately the youth of the Islanders was not enough to match it with the much improved royals. Captain Rocky and breakout year gun, Ben Howlett fell back to earth and couldn't get us over the line.
On a positive note, Tom Bugg was very impressive this weekend and showed us all that he will be a star. It seems our fitness has become an issue as Hampton and Elliot started well and faded in the 2nd half. Matty Leuenberger backed up his ton last week with 93 and showing no signs of injury.
I think the standout performer of the week was Rhys Stanley with 114.
Coach Jayman not happyThis week was an absolute shocker for Pacific resulting in us being eliminated from the World Idol, losing to the Brewers and scoring lower than NDT + Beijing :o
We had no one score over 100, not going to win many games when that happens! The Islanders will go through vigorous training this week to try and get the fight back that we showed against Tokyo.
Congrats to Jason Tutt for making his WXV debut this weekend - he certainly was not our worst performer
The only sort of positive note from this week was Sam Gibson scoring 99. We have been looking for him all year to help out the likes of Rocky and Benny in the midfield and this round he finally arrived and was our highest scoring player.
(http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2012/07/30/1226438/444163-sam-gibson.jpg)(http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/WesternBulldogs/Player%20Profiles/2013%20-%20Profiles/TUTT%20Jason.png)
Islanders in desperate times
Going into the round 5 clash with Wellington, coaches Jayman and tbag were very confident we could get the win, when Taylor Walker went down for the Warriors we thought we had it in the bag. Not to be, Pacific only had 2 players crack the ton and received some very low scores. Vice-captain Ben Howlett was the most disappointing of all scoring 50 points below his average. Captain Rocky and gun ruck, Matthew Leuenberger did their best to make a late charge but it was not enough. Credit to Tim Mohr down back who was the only shining light, scoring 88.
There will be some serious soul-searching done on the way to Crooke Park as we take on Dublin in a must-win game.
Destroyed by DublinSorry about the lateness.
Round 6: Dublin Destroyers (21.17.143) defeated Pacific Islanders (15.8.98)You cant expect to win when none of your players crack 100. 7 goal loss was about right and all credit to Dublin, they played very well. Kind of embarrassing for the players when the coach expects you to finish outside the bottom 4 then you can't even put up a competitive performance and let teams that will finish outside the eight run all over you...
Shining light? Tim Mohr... Just missed out on the ton and put in 100% - it was not his fault we lost. The stars needed to stand up.
Stay tuned for round 7 write-up :)
Rockliff extraordinary in fighting lossBuenos Aires Armadillos (24.18.162) defeated Pacific Islanders (17.17.119)Coach Jayman is pleased with the effort his boys put in on the week and the score of 119 could have won some games, but unfortunately we had to play the Armadillos who were obviously too strong.
Despite beating them in the pre-season, Pacific could not get it done in the round 7 clash with Buenos Aires. This was not due to Tom Rockliff not trying... He was exceptional pumping out 153! This gave us a slight sniff but couldn't close it out.
David Ellard suffered a hamstring injury and was forced to be subbed out of the game this really hurts as we felt he could elevate himself to a premium midfielder this year and really lift Pacifc.
Draw does not get any easier with Mexico City Suns at BSP Stadium this week. Can the Islanders do it? With Rocky playing, anything is possible >:D
(http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2013/05/13/1226641/561571-st-kilda-vs-carlton.jpg)
Jaybag reunited
Media Guru Mr X. Islanders suffered a loss after suspending lunatic Coach Tbag for three weeks. Tbag went mental after drinking to much in the Islanders bar! He left the bar after destroying it and then went to town on the club locker rooms! It is said he urinated in the fish tank, sadly the fish didn't make it.
Co-Coach tbag last month left the bar in chaos
(http://i41.tinypic.com/14wsu9v.jpg)
Tbag was suspended from the club for three matches, he spent the time getting hammered and giving motivational speaches to under privileged kids in Poland.
Tbag has since returned to work with the rest of the staff but has been ordered to undergo AA meatings!
This tbag fella seems a bit rowdy, what kind of culture is brewing at Pacific? :o ???
So our boy Tommy Mitchell is the only player on record to have at least 15 disposals, 5 tackles and a goal in each of his first 5 games.
Let that sink in ;)
#onlyplayerever
Titch Handed the Reigns
In sensational news, Tom Rockliff will not lead out the Islanders as captain this weekend. Instead Coaches JayBag have given young Tom Mitchell a go. Was a close call between he and Matty Berger but the 20 year old is set for a big game and will flourish with his new found role.
Rocky has been suffering a form lapse for a while now and relieving him of the captaincy role could be just what he needs to get his form back on track!

Let the biggest upset in WXV history begin! :P
My question from nearly two months ago is yet to be answered. :o >:(
Welcome to Maximus
Earlier this week, we received an application form Maximus to become an assistant. We were really pleased with his thoughts and are excited to have him on board. Will be good to have someone to sort out the heated arguments between Jaybag :P
Stay tuned for the Contintental Cup!
2 Trades Completed
Pleased to announce that JayBag have completed their first 2 trades!
We saw Sam B. Reid leave Pacific which is unfortunate as we think the kid has a bright future, but, getting an established back in Lee Spurr was too good to pass up.
In a big trade with New Delhi we would like to welcome the services of Jarryd Blair & Terry Milera! Wishing all the best to Shane Savage, Zach Williams & Dan Talia.
We are also set to lose Jack Viney presuming everything is finalised with the Berlin Brewers.
As the trading starts to slow down...
Coach Jayman is very pleased with the changes we have made to our list in the first trade period...
OUT: Tom Rockliff + Tom Nicholls + Jack Viney + Shane Savage + Sam Reid + Chris Dawes + Zach Williams + Dan Talia + Jackson Paine + Luke Delaney + Matt Watson + pick 24 + pick 25 + pick 42 + pick 60 + pick 78 + pick 81
IN: Jack Redden + Michael Hurley + Jarryd Blair + Lee Spurr + Lindsay Thomas + Andy Otten + Sam Day + Josh Jenkins + Phil Davis + Brad Sheppard + Terry Milera + pick 8 + pick 15 + pick 25 + pick 39 + pick 65 + pick 75 + pick 81
These changes have led to us having the following best XV as it stands today:
Backs: D. Terlich T. Mohr, L. Spurr, A. Otten
Mids: J. Redden (C), T. Mitchell, J. Martin, B. Howlett
Ruck: M. Leuenberger (VC)
Forwards: J. Blair, M. de Boer, L. Thomas, J. Howe
Utilities: J. Elliot, M. Grigg
And with depth on every line, I would have to say the new-look Islanders are looking pretty strong.
Coach Tbag cannot contain his excitement for the upcoming NAT draft where we have several picks, most importantly #3, 8 and 15... We will be sure to keep you updated!
Wish captain redden the best of luck hope he shines for you.
Martin is a huge in, might need to draft so backman though.

Thats clearly a fake... noone would ever want to work at Cairo ;)
We made him an offer he couldn't refuse ;)
The gun to the head type offer he can't refuse? Or the sexual favours offer he can't refuse? Or both?
Bit of both tbh
well you have had done a good job turning a loser team in PI into a finals contender. You cant get much of a bigger loser team than Cairo.

Thanks. Mind you, it's been done trying to follow Dublin's model.
On a 3-2-1 system, we're excited to announce the winner of Pacific's best and fairest!
In 3rd place we have a kid who I think will be a quality forward for years to come.. Devon Smith
In 2nd place our first round pick from a couple of years ago is now a star of the future.. Marcus Bontempelli
And the winner of the best and fairest for 2015... Tom Mitchell

Congratulations, Titch!
I think I speak on behalf of everyone, when I express the volumes of jealously that a top 8 team had 3 forwards finish in its B&F top 3.

It's a shame two of them will most likely be mids in 2016.

Now I know why you were so damn happy to get him in AXVs. :P
Still confident I won't rue that trade, I refuse to do so. Did get me Roberton though, who will certainly be a welcome addition to our back line (I just realised I brought him in to two of my XVs teams, almost three if you count BXVs :o !).

Done, that certainly makes the forward line look a lot stronger. :)
IF Motlop can keep fwd status, we will have a starting group of Barlow,Motlop,Smith with a number of 80avg players rotating through the F4/5/6 positions.

Sweet :) And just like that, Pacific have one of the more potent forward lines in the Comp.
We lost Bont and TMitch, so Barlow and Motlop make for pretty good replacements.

Bring on 2017 8)
Our under 26yo squad looks pretty decent, lots of potential for improvement.
Laird, Hurley, Tomlinson, Aliir, Hampton, JKolo, Day, Williams, Himmelberg, Jaksch
Bont, TMitch, Gaff, Guthrie, Lyons, Duggan, Mountford, Fordham
Witts, Stanley, Ladhams, Frampton
Smith, Motlop, Fasolo, Ah Chee, Taberner, McGovern, Murdoch, Ahern, Dear, Lamb
...This young group alone would give the Top 8 a real shake. :)
Accompanied with some experienced heads in Swallow, Barlow, Suckling, Gibson, Leuey, Spurr, Howlett, Rischitelli, Suban.
With a little luck Pacific can grab a Top 4 finish, get the double chance and see what happens.
Looks really good guys! Always thought Pacific is one of the squads with the most potential in the comp

Fourth highest scoring team and lost in the Prelim Final. Overall happy enough with the season.
In the end injuries mounted up with ten potential starters, including all our Rucks unavailable. Which was too much to overcome.
Witts with a break out season, along with having Hurley back and fighting with Laird over the D1 spot are the two main factors to our improvement.
Mitchell increased his average by 14pts and became a dependable Captain choice(yes I'm aware).
Core of the team is still quite young, a little fine tuning in the off season will see another competitive squad in 2018.

The Islanders were the highest scoring team in 2018, up from 4th in 2017. Which is certainly a positive to take out of the season.
Unfortunately out in straight sets, in what was a disappointing finals campaign for the boys.
