I sadly know the scenario :(. I get KB into the XV scenes and he then becomes a hot commodity. No further comment on the matter by me :-X.

Looking awesome by the way Phas! Certainly picking up how we look on our homepage :P.

reserved for round 1 review when i can catchup for it
reserved for round 2 review when i can catchup for it

Round 3 review
after a horrid start to the reindeers season enter the 3rd round still without a win
senior assistant coach DazBurg who was in control in senior coach hellopplz absence was looking to change that fact.
the reindeers made the change of brining in young gun Chad Wingard onto the bench at the expense of Nick Lower
after wingard showed some great form in the ressies
another change was the dropping of Phil Davis bringing in veteran Luke McPharlin hoping he can provide some experience and stability to the backline for the young reindeers

the reindeers round 3 encounter hoping for their first win of the season was derailed pretty much 10 minutes into the first game McPharlin who the reindeers was hoping would get them off to a flyer was knocked out early in the first qtr putting an end to his debut for the season on a grand score of 0
from there it was too big of a hill to overcome and the reindeers feel to there 3rd straight loss of the season leaving them 16th on the ladder and leaving alot of work needing to be done
the highlight though was EOS recruit Justin Westoff's continued domiance on the score and yound gun Chad Wingard rewarding the coaches with his selection

in the reserves for the kings there was more bad news with young gun Jonathan Patton succumbing to a ACL tear and will miss the rest of the season while Liam Jones put his hand up to play in round 4

so all in all the season is not looking great for far butt here are some things that show PNL might be able to turn there season around yet

and in surprising news their are some rumours going round that the reindeers senior coach and senior assistant had been in serious talk in regards to Justin Westhoff and Matthew Pavlich's immediate future with the club

from what we can gather they were rumored to be close to a deal only a few days ago that was until today when negotiations broke down

one club insider was quoted as saying
"We are currently in talks with a few clubs in regards to alot of players availability and prospect's"

so as you can see very tight lipped down at the reindeers all we can say for now is things may be hotting up
Title: Re: WXV: Parisian Nice Lyon Reindeers

and finally the reindeers have opened up thier trade account for the offseason

trading out defender Phil Davis and some picks
welcoming matthew watson and Chris Dawes

Senior assistant Coach DazBurg was quoted as saying: We'd like to than Phil for his greay year of service and wish him well in the future even though he was only with us for a season with other stepping up it was of mutual benefit to both parties to make a move now for Phil he get's more opportunities and for us we receive a player we feel will eventually match if not surpass Phil but in a few seasons when we will need it. We also feel Dawes while not the best scorer and having had his worst scoring season so far will add depth and with roos and some more midfield depth and forwards to take pressure off he will either improve or get worse

Well their you have it the official trade was

Pacific trade: Chris Dawes and Matthew Watson
PNL trade: Phil Davis, Pick 63 and Pick 81

With all drafts over and players enjoying their Christmas holidays, a little recap on the new additions to the PNL lineup for the coming season through the drafts.

With the first pick in the International draft, PNL gladly chose Jack Billings with the #6 pick. Was between him and Kelly, but Billings kicking ability + possible forward option choice is what made him the more tempting player. We believe he is made for Worlds and should serve as a deadly combination with Chad Wingard in coming seasons, also a #6 pick for the PNL Reindeers. Billings may be on the fringe for the upcoming season but no reason why he can't find a way to crack into the side with his great ball use and silky skills.

At #27, Zach Merrett was selected. Another deadly ball user is more than welcomed at the Reindeers. Expected as a mid but being named in the forwards certainly help sure up our forward stocks for the future. Just like Billings, can score really well when on and has a boot to make opponents pay. More than happy with him coming to #27 as we got a little outside help with this pick, certainly looks like the right choice!

With our last pick in the International draft, Matthew Jaensch was selected with #45. Jaensch was delisted by the Pacific Islanders and we're willing to give him a second chance. We believe if he is able to string together a few games together, he'll be a solid depth back who can push a starting place in the PNL lineup. Certainly with a pick like this, if he can help our reserves in Marseilles, then we'd be happy with that!

Skipping a pick in the International Draft landed us #4 in the Preseason Draft which we used on Luke Reynolds. A medium style forward with a potential X-Factor around him if he's able to land games. Not expected to crack the lineup but could be a very solid project player to join our forward line youngsters. has a great sense for the long goal and delivery inside the 50 is great so one to watch for the future.

Last and not least is the rookie draft! Xavier Richards was retained on the rookie list while Brad McKenzie was able to earn a promotion to the senior list. This left 3 spots left on the rookie list after delistings.

First pick went to Zach O'Brien at #6. He's a mature aged hard-nut midfielder who can help the team straight away, but is set to fight for his spot in the side. He has a great tank and is known for getting contested footy which will help him in Worlds. In a fairly deep PNL midfield depth, may be forced to play at Marseilles if he plays at all this season.

With #24, Cameron Shenton was given a second chance with us. Last few games in the VFL last season when he moved back to defence is when he started to get alot of the ball. Despite being listed as a Fwd/Mid, we are expecting him to become a defender in the long term which is what we need. May be able to get the odd game this year with some luck, otherwise not much you can ask from a rookie pick. Has decent potential so we were willing to give him a chance!

With our last rookie spot, we either go for another depth option or get another ruck on the list to bring the number up to 3. So why not throw a lifeline to big Angus Burger with #40, selecting Angus Graham to return to the team on the rookie list. He's being given another 2 seasons to show his worth, otherwise is facing another delisting if he is unable to pick up his game.

Not an ideal start for the luckless Reindeers  :-\

I almost had a heart attack when I saw the headline "Trengove Suffer's Knee Injury", both in a melbourne supporter and berlin point of view.

A fit Rioli and Pavlich will do you guys wonders this year though

We can never catch a break injury wise! This is why we tend to fall near the bottom of the table :(. Think the board has given me one last season to show I can do something with the list, otherwise may be sacked :-X.

Jackson was just depth, so not too much of a loss so he can take his time getting back. I can imagine how you were feeling Purps if one of your star mids go down :P.

I feel really bad for Grant, made a spot for himself in the Doggies side and hopefully this isn't a big set back for him! Would be pushing starting XV for PNL as well.

Read about that a few days ago, there are always a few bad eggs floating around all the teams. Such a shame he's had shown so much potential last year, we may have to rake him back in line depending on the sentence.

Reindeer heartbreak again

PNL Reindeers (21.16.142) lost to Seoul Magpies (23.12.150)

Best
PNL: N Jones, J Westhoff, M Priddis, K Simpson, L Ball, C Wingard
Seoul: M LeCras, D Swallow, T Langdon, B McEvoy, S Coniglio, P Dangerfield, T Scully

It was always set up to be a tough match up, with Seoul another big scoring team, who just like us, get unlucky at times. Poor selection choices didn't help PNL, but can't take anything away from Seoul who had alot of players stand up as they racked up a big score in the opening round to take the win. A big game from leCras on the last day put it beyond a doubt. The younger stars for them look to be taking next step up in Swallow, Coniglio and Scully, not to mention the massive debut from Tom Langdon.

Highlights were the backline bar McPharlin standing up for great games. Despite the absence of Marley Williams (court case and decision pending), Kade is continuing last season's form while Harbrow and Enright are proving to be great backup. Choice of McPharlin and Grundy (bench) certainly backfired as emergencies could have easily outscored them!
Rich in the midfield was a let down, but the three other starting mids were fantastic, with Nathan Jones leading the way!
Port boys in the ruck and up forward did their jobs, with all three backing up their career best seasons last year. Billings made his debut up forward, but a sub-affected score will not help his case for future selection if he continues in that role. Patton showed he can be a dominant force when fit and playing, hopefully proving worth of #4 pick traded for him 2 years ago.

B&F votes.
3. Nathan Jones
2. Justin Westhoff
1. Kade Simpson

Reserves
Marseilles Kings  (23.14.152) defeated Pyongyang Chollimas (14.13.97)

Best
Marseilles: M Thomas, F Ray, M Jaensch, D Myers, Jackson Trengove, M Watson
Pyongyang: C Sutcliffe, J Newnes, TJ Lynch, B Macaffer

Marseilles killed it. Big games from the best six above who are all putting up their hands for selection this season. Certainly hard to overlook Ray, Myers and Jaensch, all emergencies first round but turned in great performances showing why they shouldn't be left out again!

Also would like to note that all 3 of our National Draft selections played round 1! Although Billings and Zach Merrett were subs but faith was put into them early when we are down some forwards. Jaensch was an option were looking to trade for, but grabbed him at #45, now looking like a bargain if he's able to string together consistent games!

Will try to do a little write up most weeks, but it won't be anything spectacular :P.

Think they do it for the first one, then not often after that :P.

Nathan is a gun, would take a bit to grab him off us ;). And PNL always lack luck, hopefully finally get Lady Luck on our side this season, but if first round is anything to go by, doubt it once again :P.

Luckily Jaensch has stepped up to cover for him, swear he's a steal now he isn't fringe :o. Such a shame about Marley.

Rich is just so unlucky, really like him and his left boot of gold. Hate to see a player go down and forced out for such a long period of time (Clay Smith was also out end of last season and probably half of this season with a knee if I remember). I'm just happy we have some cover in the Mids with Ray/Thomas/Myers all picking up their game early this season, so can slip in as required :).

If our guys hadn't stepped up, we'd be looking at another near bottom finish :(.

Planning on trying to do some project tonight, so may have a Round 2 and 3 update for PNL sometime tonight!

MARLEY MARCHES INTO MARSEILLES

Marley Williams was forced to take some time away from PNL to take care of some person matters in which we fully supported his decision until his future was clear. With all that behind him, and a few weeks of training under his belt, he's ready to go again! Last year he locked down a place in PNL's back 4 but with new additions in Corey Enright and Matthew Jaensch, this year he'll have to fight for his spot!

If that wasn't hard enough, he's also forced to contend with Jackson, Grundy, Goldsack and McPharlin who are all showing solid performances this year. What use to be one of PNL's weaknesses is fast becoming a strength! When trading away Pavlich, we did so hoping we have our forwards step up, and they certainly have! This week in the reserves from our forwards we have Patton, Billings, Casboult, Jones, Zerrett and Dawes. No world beaters but quite a bit of potential for the future! Makes our F4 spot a very tough choice every week.

On a side note, we are proud of Marseilles scoring form this season, not so much their defence (which could be down to luck :P). Only trailling Mumbai by 4 points scored, they are showing the depth PNL have on offer! Potentially there are 14 players ready to suit up for Marseilles from the PNL list, so hopefully shows that PNL is ready to step up to contend with the big boys in the comp with our injury woes behind us.

Thought I'd do a little piece on our Reserves considering I have been slack with weekly round updates :P.

Reckon some flooding tactics might be on the cards!

Some teams would kill for that depth!
Title: Re: WXV: Parisian Nice Lyon Reindeers

May have to consider some eventually but with Wingard, Westhoff and Rioli our top 3, if Lynch can continue scoring well, don't think it'd be possible to flood!

Certainly tough to choose the right player each week :P. Maybe we can use some depth to land another top scoring mid which we could badly use :-X.

it'll get there HP, it'll get there ... just need a bit of luck - looking like injuries to key players just never giving you a chance to field a 'full-strength' line-up ...

Came against the wrong teams on their good weeks (Pumas, Toronto and Moscow) :(. And some of our guys didn't perform as well as expected certainly doesn't help!

Clay Smith is also making his return to the field this weekend, so hopefully finds some form coming weeks with Marseilles to start pushing into the starting team!

Cairo Sands (19.17.131) lost to PNL Reindeers (22.17.149)

Best
Cairo: D Beams, B Smith, N Malceski

Best

Marseille: L McPharlin, L Casboult, T Goldsack

After besting Wellington and Pacific, came a much bigger test in 2013 finalists Cairo. This is what put us on the map for this season. Huge games by many players, with Jones the main instigator! Marseilles suffer a 2nd straight defeat, but still posting pretty respectable scores.

Wasn't the prettiest display against London but was enough to get the job done! Was a consistent team performance which allowed us to get over the line so kudos to the boys, Jones certainly was the standout from this match and deservedly received the 3 votes.

Now for our first reward for the last night festivities :P. First Year Player Of The Season! Just to make it fair, this will be the first year the player has been in the WXV system and not just with the team!

Despite being our 2nd draft pick of the season, he certainly made a name for himself up forward when injuries struck again! Albeit a sub-vest potential, when he wasn't, certainly showed he can potentially be a future club stalwart. Has firmly settled into the best XV of the season with Lynch and Cyril both missing chunks of the season. The future looks bright for young Zach and hoping he is able to further step up to battle for his spot when Lynch and Cyril are fully fit!

Runner up: Jack Billings. Although taken at #6 and played many games for Marseilles, was unable to consistently crack the PNL side. Hopefully he shows more similarities to Wingard if he is able to break out next year after getting settled in first year!

Toronto Wolves (23.20.158) defeated PNL Reindeers (22.17.149)

PNL: C Rioli, TT Lynch, N Jones, M Priddis, M Lobbe

Best
Toronto: R Shaw, B McLean, A Hall, T Jonas, C Young, M Jamison, Matt Shaw
Marseille: J Patton, T Goldsack, H Grundy

Entering round 6, PNL were riding high, on a 4 game win streak. However came up against a tough Toronto side who pulled out an even bigger score to end our streak. Priddis and Jones tried their hardest as Co-Captains but it was just not enough high scorers in the end that decided the outcome as majority put in sollid 70+ scores! Also suffered a loss in Reserves with Marseilles :(.

Sao Paulo play Reindeer Games
PNL Reindeers (21.12.138) lost to Sao Paulo Pumas (23.21.159)

Best
PNL: C Rioli, K Simpson, F Ray, C Enright
Sao Paulo: G Ablett jnr, J Polec, Jarryd Roughead, S Jacobs, A Walker, R Sloane, D Smith

Marseille Kings (24.18.162) defeated Rio de Janeiro Jaguars (11.9.75)

Best
Marseille: C Dawes, D Shiel, L McPharlin, L Casboult
Rio de Janeiro: J Stringer, M Paparone

Against a tough Pumas outfit, lose our 2nd on the trot. Didn't put up a horrible score, but far from a great score if we were to try and beat one of the Big 4 in the league, especially a powerful Pumas team lead by Ablett. Rioli was top scorer with not too much else to notce. Lynch also went down early and effectively lead to him missing a huge chunk of the middle of the season :(. At least Marseilles end their losing streak by posting a mammoth 162!

Not a pretty round for PNL. Another loss making it 3 in a row to top 8 candidates and pushing our record to 4-4 at this stage. Round did see the club debut of Dawes but that didn't really lift the team :P. PNL wins the EUROPEAN CUP
MATT PRIDDIS wins the WEIDEMAN Medal

Game was pretty low scoring and we were lucky to win with a score of 132. We also grab our first trophy of the season topping Berlin this round! First time ever PNL have won it in 3 meetings. This also was the break in the form slump we needed, finally ending our 3 game losing streak. Wingard had a shocker round (10 points) but his teammates were able to carry him through for the win. Priddis and Jaensch stand out performers while Kade and Hoffman were able to provide good enough back up in order for PNL to remain in the 8. This round also saw the club debuts of Zach Merrett and highly touted Mitch Hallahan, although the fortunes for both were expected to be reversed in their performances this year! Reindeers Crack the Armadillos

Buenos Aires had its first loss of the season, while the Reindeers got just the win they needed to consolidate a spot in the top 8, and maybe push for the 4.

Buenos Aires Armadillos (20.12.132) lost to PNL Reindeers (20.15.135)

Buenos Aires: B Harvey, J Schulz
PNL: M Lobbe, N Jones, C Wingard, M Thomas

Best
Buenos Aires: D Petrie, D Cross, B Sewell
Marseille: D Shiel, Jackson Trengove, H Grundy, Z Merrett, J Patton, C Dawes, L Casboult

Big round for PNL! Not only did they grab a big scalp of a top 4 team but also handed the Armadillos their first loss of the season! It was a closely contested match and came down to the very last batch of players in order to get PNL over the line! Lobbe had his biggest game of the season which was backed up well by Nate Jones and co, just enough to get the win. Marseilles post another huge score, with a few pushing for games in the Seniors, especially Shiel making a case now.

Betting odds would be roughly...

$5.90 Matthew Lobbe
$8.00 Justin Westhoff, Matthew Jaensch

Most Improved Player Award

Now this was a tough award to decide. This is why joint winners were chosen in both Matthew Jaensch and Dylan Shiel.

Matthew came to the club via the National Draft, as PNL threw him a lifeline and he repaid us in being more than just a depth player but a vital cog in the defence which was formerly our weakest area. Jaensch not only lifted his output but cracked the 100 mark in 9 appearances for PNL/Marseilles. He proved a worthy investment after being delisted by Pacific, and lifted his game to another level this season in order to get games for a senior side.

On the flip side could not leave Dylan Shiel out of this. He was not as influential as Jaensch but he took a big step up in his level of scoring and showed why he's a future leader of the club. Although he wasn't able to find games until the second half of the season, he provided much needed relief in the midfield behind Pridda and Jones. Although consistency is a problem, he has shown he can go big and is a ball-magnet, lifting his scoring up by around 18 points from last season. Certainly going to want to continue this into next season and is not looking to leave us anytime soon.

Reindeers Are Coming

PNL Reindeers (24.15.159) defeated New York Revolution (20.15.135)

Best
PNL: M Lobbe, D Shiel, M Priddis, N Jones, C Enright
New York: M Stokes, T Liberatore, A Treloar, T Cloke, J Macrae

Reserves
Marseille Kings (28.15.183) defeated Washington Rebellion (9.5.59)

Best
Marseille: L Jones, J Grant, J Patton, L Casboult, D Myers, Jackson Trengove, H Grundy, C Shenton
Washington: S Lycett

With the coaching changes at New York finally coming to an end, PNL were still able to get the better of them by quite a margin! A massive score of 159 was posted spearheaded by Lobbe who backed up last week's performance with another monster score. Not only this, but Shiel's performance for Marseilles the previous week did not go unnoticed, as he was put on the big stage once again and shined brighter than most! Marseilles hitting peak form now, with many guys fighting for a place on the Seniors.

Reserves
Shanghai Storm (3.7.25) lost to Marseille Kings (30.12.192)

Best
Shanghai: A Toovey
Marseille: J Billings, H Grundy, L Ball, J Patton, D Myers, B McKenzie, M Thomas

We have made our place known as serious top 8 contenders this year and are on the verge of making a top 4 spot ours this season. So far have a 7-4 record prior to the round. Against a Beijing side who put up some fight, we go 8-4! Certainly was far from the performance of the week before, but a win is a win. Hoffman had a big game and was clearly best on the field. Priddis finding his groove now and some handy performances from some youngsters helped get us over the line.

Also just when you think Marseilles couldn't get any better, they top their previous high score of 183 with 192 ;). Quite a few will be called upon if needed but Myers especially is making a case after his return and getting a few games under his belt.

PNL: N Jones, M Priddis
Mexico City: S Sidebottom, S Thompson, J Bartel, C Yarran, L Hodge, B Goddard

Best
Marseille: D Myers, TT Lynch, L Casboult, T Goldsack, C Shenton
Mexico City: J Lewis, M Blicavs

A week to forget for us, a thrashing at the hands of Mexico ends our best ever 4 match win-streak. This match was also the start of a massive double header with Dublin coming up the following week, two of the competitions big 4 teams. Too many passengers this week, with many not carrying their weight and letting down the team. Jones and Pridda did their part, but there were no freak scores nor alot of good scores to even give Mexico a scare in the end. On the upside Marseilles kept their win streak going and is now up to 7.

Time for another award :D. This time the Coaches Award!

This award is going to the player I think was a vital part in our performance this year. May not be the highest scorer but we needed him badly which was a key success to our season. This season it goes to Matthew Lobbe!

Behind the outstanding years of Pridda and Nate, there stood one man, one very large man, who without him PNL likely wouldn't have made finals for the first time in club history. Lobbe had an injury riddled first season with PNL which left us ruckless for periods of times and forced to play out of position players. However it was this year where he's played almost every game (bar one), and took his scoring to a whole other level! Just like last year, looks like slow starts will be a regular occurence, but once he kicked into gear, he sure set the Worlds XV on fire! 9 scores over the 100 mark including gigantic 145, 150 and 178 showed he can certainly keep it up with the best of rucks in the game. He was a vital cog in the PNL lineup with no viable backup option all season long. Had he gone down, there would have been a much slimmer chance we would have even been in with a chance for a top 4 spot! Not only this, but after round 6, he did not hit a score under 80 showing consistency which PNL love in our players :D.

But the top prize is still very much up for grabs, which is why I'll leave the final 5 rounds to be covered later on while people catch up (if anybody reads these :P ).

Betting odds would be roughly...

Home Crowd Lifts PNL

PNL Reindeers (22.14.146) defeated Dublin Destroyers (22.9.141)

Best
PNL: M Priddis, D Myers, M Lobbe, M Jaensch
Dublin: T Rockliff, L Hansen, N Dal Santo, R Gray, T McDonald

Reserves
Marseille Kings (16.12.108) defeated Belfast Braves (9.8.62)

Best
Marseille: Z Merrett, M Williams
Belfast: B Martin

PNL WIN! PNL WIN! PNL WIN! We were able to cause probably our biggest upset of our great season here against the highly fancied Dublin. Looking at their team compared to ours looked like we stood no chance, but a well round team performance helped lift us over the line, that and our fans were there to make sure they gave us that little extra push when we needed it the most! Was probably the match of the year for us if you are talking about the competition we were up against. Priddis was his usual self, while Lobbe/jaensch put in fine performances but best aground was David Myers who played the game of his career after having a rest the previous week.

Was not a pretty game against the Tigers, but was enough. Certainly was needed after a big game last week which took alot out of the boys. Wasn't too much happening in the stand outs, Marseilles also continued their streaking form while Enright was best afield, being the rock down in defence to limit Dehli's influence up forward.

Round 16

Reindeers Look to Football Gods

PNL Reindeers (24.15.159) defeated Tokyo Samurai (20.14.134)

Best
PNL: M Priddis, J Westhoff, K Simpson, N Jones, C Enright, M Lobbe, F Ray, M Jaensch
Tokyo: J Carlisle, A Miles, C Judd, L Shuey, K Jack

Reserves
Marseille Kings (19.12.126) defeated Yuzawa Typhoon (13.9.87)

Best
Marseille: M Thomas, J Patton, J Billings, T Goldsack
Yuzawa: J Rivers

This point in the season PNL are certain of finals footy, and this match was a great score in order to show teams we came to play this year 8). Massive score with big performances by many players able to push us up over Tokyo. Priddis dominated with full captaincy but Hoffman and Kade were brilliant in their lines. Quite a few players had huge games which means there were not enough votes to give out for all who deserved it after this performance, with Hoff able to nudge out Pridda for best a field with a fine performance, showing he's still got plenty left for many more seasons.

Round 17

Cobras-Reindeers Set up Double Header

Cape Town Cobras (21.15.141) lost to PNL Reindeers (23.13.151)

Best
Cape Town: D Tyson, S Martin, T Cotchin, T Hawkisn, D Thomas, JP Kennedy
PNL: J Westhoff, M Priddis, N Jones, M Lobbe, K Simpson, M Jaensch

Reserves
Cape Town Cobras (13.7.85) lost to Marseille Kings (15.12.102)

Best
Cape Town: A Sexton, D Kent
Marseille: H Grundy, T Goldsack, Z Merrett

Last round and a win with a big 150 score! Had a good week taking out another top 8 side while cementing a spot at #5 on the ladder. Certainly was a tough match with both sides having big names go huge and funny enough, the best afield were also our top 6 in the best and fairest :P. Priddis and Jones continue their fine form while Hoffman and Lobbe put a stamp on their ability to lock down key spots in the side and put on performances when we need others to step up. Marseilles also end the season with another win and a huge win-streak AND the minor premiership under their belt!!! So that helps the wounds of missing the top 4 in Seniors this season.

Finals Week 1

Cobra Dream, Reindeer Nightmare

PNL Reindeers (21.17.143) lost to Cape Town Cobras (24.14.158)

Best
PNL: M Priddis, K Simpson, M Jaensch, N Jones, M Lobbe
Cape Town: A Cooney, D Thomas, JP Kennedy, S Higgins, J Darling, S Martin, T Cotchin

CAPE TOWN Progresses to a SEMI FINAL
PNL finishes 7th

MATT PRIDDIS wins a FINALS CHAMPION Medal

Marseille Kings (14.21.105) defeated Port Morseby Iguanadons (12.13.85)

Best
Marseille: J Patton, TT Lynch, C Dawes
Port Morseby: H Cunningham, B Martin

MARSEILLE Progresses to a PRELIMINARY FINAL
PORT MORSEBY Progresses to a SEMI FINAL

Just as we were excited to make our first ever finals appearance in Worlds, it was taken away from us from a beastly Cape Town outfit, who lifted their game while we fell off from the previous round :(. In the end they had too much fire power and finals experience for our mob who were awe-stricken and unable to compete even with a respectable score of 143. Priddis was near unstoppable this round as Captain, amassing 21.6% of the total PNL score as Captain, the best on ground in a losing final. Kade and Jaensch also put in good performances out of defence, but were unable to stem the flow of the Cobra forwards :(. Finished 5th on the ladder, but 7th after finals, so not the best year but certainly alot better than previous seasons so we'll take it and look to the future.

At least Marseilles handed Port Morseby a defeat in the reserves to move forward to the Prelims.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDD The winner of the PNL Best and Fairest Award for the 2014 season is..............

Pridda had an outstanding year, his best in 3 seasons with PNL. Not only was he our top scorer and a reliable Captain option (or Co-Captain with Jones), but he was able to pump out huge scores and was what PNL needed in our top midfielder, Come second half of the season and he was having fun and smashing the opposition on the field as shown by the amount of votes he polled after the bye round, running away with the award. He was clearly the best player for us all year long and a well-deserving winner of the award! Tied for 2nd place was Nathan Jones as well as our top defender and forward in Kade Simpson and Justin Westhoff. All 3 showed that they can stand up when we need them, although didn't have the consistency of Pridda which was ultimately their undoing.

Reserves Preliminary Final

Marseille Kings (15.12.102) defeated Alexandria Hieroglyphics (13.13.91)

Best
Marseille: M Williams, H Grundy, Jackson Trengove
Alexandria: T Chaplin, J Cripps

(Note Rowe subbed in for Hutchings for Cairo)

MARSEILLE progresses to the GRAND FINAL
ALEXANDRIA finishes 3rd

MARSEILLE!!!! Wasn't the best display and had some luck on our side in order to beat Alexandria to make the Grand Final. Certainly had stalwarts from defence carrying us this round and was able to get us over the line and put us back against Mexico City in the Grand Final, a repeat of the 2012 Reserves GF!

Time for the Marseille's MVP award! Now certainly a tough award to decide with many players featuring for us here.

One man was consistently in our reserves all season long bar one or two games here and there for the PNL bench, and provided much needed support for the youngsters in the side as they blossom for the team. Heath Grundy was this man, showing up every week, whether it was for seniors or reserves, and put in a great effort and was vital in order for Marseille to put on a massive win streak after starting the season poorly.

already took it just basically not in order
(as you can tell by tape being first named mentioned in DEF bench was just easiest to slot his name there on my word document and shiel just haven't changed since whenever we first done that list so last off season i suppose)

and for shiel to move you'd have to pay massive overs....more inclined to trade out westy or pridda before shiel :P

Introducing the new draftees so far!

With #6 pick in the draft, Jayden Laverde was selected!

Laverde slipped in the real draft, but his skills are there to make an impact from the get go. We needed a high class mid for the future, and he now joins the likes of Sheridan, Hallahan and Shiel in the younger brigade. Although he'll start out as a mid, we're hoping his versatility in the long term will change him into a more Goddard-esque style player, with the potential for DPP to help other positions.

With the departure of Kade Simpson, Hodge + #32 were traded in, in which Jarrod Garlett was selected.

Although has a thin frame, he has blistering pace and is solid enough with his kicking and can hit the scoreboard. We're hoping he can play a few games this year for Marseilles and hopefully able to make a name for himself in the long term. Becoming a forward wouldn't hurt as well in the future as would make a great set up combined with other youngsters Wingard, Billings and Zerrett.

With our last pick in the Nat draft at #58, we welcome Jordan Kelly to fill out our list.

Given new life at the Dogs and had some good VFL form this season, we're willing to give him a second chance at PNL. Although there is plenty of back depth at PNL, should injury strike he could come in handy should he play. Although it still is a punt on him at the Doggies, was worth the risk over one of the proven veterans delisted by other teams.

PNL Rookie List:

Zac O'Brien
(http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/Media/Images/329604-tlsnewsportrait.jpg)

Despite some impressive performances this year, only played a handful of games for Marseilles. Showed awesome form in the NEAFL and will hopefully play more in the future as entering his prime. But due to midfield room being pretty stocked, thought we can keep him on the rookie list for another season and see how he progresses, as he was very close to a senior spot this season!

Conor McKenna
(http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/74292000/jpg/_74292139_conormckenna.jpg)

Conor is a raw project player but we have patience at PNL and believe he could be quite a good player one day. Happy to have him on the list as he has shown to have great potential if he can adapt to the AFL game, and who knows if he may play this year due to the Bombers scandal :-X.

Tom Simpkin
(http://www.saints.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/StKilda/Player%20Profiles/2014%20-%20Profiles/SIMPKIN%20Tom.png)

Such a rugged young man. Just look at that handsomeness! Was drafted due to possibly playing a few games this season, he'll surely get a crack here and there and worth a punt on our rookie list as did some decent stuff in the VFL last year.

Luke Delaney
(http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Luke+Delaney+AFL+Rd+13+Essendon+v+North+Melbourne+7WB15414qNbl.jpg)

Look at those muscles! Defence is a bit lacking, so worth a punt as should play quite a bit for Marseilles and could slot into the side if he is able to play a bit more up the ground. But we're happy with him just helping Marseilles in our long search for a Reserves Premiership!

Thomas Vandeleur
(http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/Fremantle/Player%20Profiles/2014%20-%20Profiles/VANDELEUR%20Tom.png)

We like to call him awkward since he arrived at our headquarters in Paris. He's meshing well and we're slowly bringing him out of his shell. On his potential, long term prospect for defending, but may not be anything special. But he had the best name left and my extended coaching panel at the time voted we should take the punt on him, so here we are :P.

Well we haven't had a great pre-season when it comes to injuries :(.

Perennial Benchie Farren Ray will be missing the first 1/3 of the season at least :(. He's be a reliable depth/starter for us, so hopefully we can get a youngster to step up in his absence!

We already know about Jono Patton again :'(. What is concerning on top of him are the pre-season injuries to Chad Wingard and Jack Billings. Both should be fine come start of the season or a week or two in, but we were really hoping both can step up this year to consolidate a spot near the top for us :(.

Our backline is shaky and Trengove is still recovery from shoulder surgery from January, so some depth is needed early until he's fit.

AND WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL TOM LYNCH TO STOP TRYING TO BECOME A PARAPLEGIC!!!

Coming into the Byes with the team starting to Gel strongly and put some good consistent scores on the board week to week the coaching panel at the reindeers have taken the time to compile some statistical data of the players performance compared to there peers from the opposition teams.

It is the hope that doing so will continue to sustain the spark within the group and help them in focusing on there ultimate goal of a top 4 finish and a great finals campaign

it is broken down into positions and is compared solely on position

for example Swan is ranked #5 out of all the forwards in the comp not in the whole comp

After rnd 10 team ranked by total score

Round 1: PNL all class in crucial match against Rio

Rio de Janeiro Jaguars (22.7.139) lost to PNL Reindeers (23.7.145)
Best
Rio de Janeiro: Bachar Houli, Gary Ablett Jnr, Taylor Walker
PNL: Dylan Shiel, Daniel Rich, Dane Swan, Chad Wingard

Reserves
Rio de Janeiro Jaguars (4.7.31) lost to Marseille Kings (9.9.63)
Best
Rio de Janeiro: Adam Schneider
Marseille: Jackson Trengove

Round 1 marked the debut of new recruits Luke Hodge, Dane Swan and Nick Malceski, as well as opponents Rio de Janeiro. Good win to kick off the season with a few standout performers including our forwards lead by Swan and Wingard.

5 - D. Shiel
4 - C. Wingard
3 - D. Rich
2 - D. Swan
1 - C. Rioli

Round 2: PNL in an ugly affair

PNL Reindeers (20.9.129) def Christchurch Saints (19.8.122)
Best
PNL: Matt Priddis, Dylan Shiel, Daniel Rich, Cyril Rioli
Christchurch: Matthew Boyd, Luke Shuey, Bryce Gibbs, Aaron Sandilands

Club debut
PNL: Ayce Cordy

Reserves
Marseille Kings (24.8.152) def Wellington Weta (19.6.72)
Best
Marseille: Jarrod Harbrow, Tom T Lynch, Zachary Merrett, Levi Casboult, Jackson Trengove, Luke McPharlin
Wellington: Tom Scully, Tory Dickson

A very scrappy display against new team Christchurch Saints, but we were able to hold on for the win despite scoring 129. This match also marked the first Senior appearance for Ayce Cordy. How did he not get any games before this? Because he put in a stunning display of 13 points! Luckily our 'Tank That Could', Shiel put in a monster effort to carry the team

5 - D. Shiel
4 - C. Rioli
3 - M. Priddis
2 - D. Swan
1 - D. Rich

Round 3: Wolves show sharper teeth than Reindeers

PNL Reindeers (21.9.135) lost to Toronto Wolves (22.8.140)
Best
PNL: Luke Hodge, Nathan Jones, Dane Swan
Toronto: Scott Pendlebury, Richard Douglas, Isaac Smith, Jack Crisp

Reserves
Marseille Kings (13.10.88) def Manitoba Moose (7.7.49)
Best
Marseille: Nil
Manitoba: Nil

Lifted from the previous week, but wasn't enough as we suffered our first loss of the season against the Wolves. Always a tough team to come up against (well, mainly Pendlebury usually). Hodge and Swan put in mammoth efforts, and how the flower is Cordy getting games with another poultry 12, which was our HGA and likely cost us the game. Also note, this was also the last game that Marley Williams was on our emergency list, as he began this season on there three times in a row.

5 - L. Hodge
4 - D. Swan
3 - N. Jones
2 - T. Lynch
1 - C. Enright

Round 4: Reindeers re-affirm top 4 credentials

PNL Reindeers (24.7.151) def Cairo Sands (18.9.117)
Best
PNL: Corey Enright, Nathan Jones, Dylan Shiel, Marley Williams
Cairo: Dion Prestia

Reserves
Marseille Kings (16.6.102) def Alexandria Heiroglyphics (10.7.67)
Best
Marseille: Jack Billings, Levi Casboult, Ayce Cordy, Luke McPharlin
Alexandria: Rory Thompson, Jack Lonie

After our loss to Toronto, this was a nice little confidence booster against the Sands. Shiel continues his hot form and a solid all round effort with 10 scores over 80. Marley also makes his first officially start of the season (despite coming on in the past few matches as an emergency)

5 - D. Shiel
4 - M. Williams
3 - C. Enright
2 - N. Jones
1 - M. Priddis

Round 5: London celebrate birth of Princess with huge win

London Royals (24.10.154) def PNL Reindeers (23.6.144)
Best
London: Dan Hannebery, Brent Stanton, Chris Mayne, Danyle Pearce
PNL: Corey Enright, Jarrod Harbrow, Dylan Shiel, Matt Priddis, Cyril Rioli

Reserves
Imperial Princes (19.7.121) def Marseille Kings (14.8.92)
Best
Imperial: Bradley Sheppard, Josh Hill, Tom Lonergan
Marseille: Jack Billings, Marley Williams, Sebastian Tape, Luke Delaney

Just no response to London's midfield. Huge 144 by Hannebery carried them, and despite posting a decent score, we just didn't get that monster score either to help us out. Had a handful to crack the ton, but just not enough. Also note, this was Marseilles first loss in the Reserves of the season, which says a bit when we had Marley Williams and Jack Billings in there!

5 - D. Shiel
4 - M. Priddis
3 - J. Harbrow
2 - C. Rioli
1 - C. Enright

Round 5: PNL officially pass on the Blitz

Berlin Brewers (23.9.147) lost to PNL Reindeers (24.6.150)
Best
Berlin: Nat Fyfe, Jack Steven, Adam Treloar, Daniel Cross, Lewis Jetta, Drew Petrie
PNL: Corey Enright, Matt Priddis, Dylan Shiel, Jack Billings, Tom T Lynch

Reserves
Rhineland Rum-Runners (10.7.67) lost to Marseille Kings (15.11.101)
Best
Rhineland: Kyle Cheney
Marseille: Zachary Merrett, Mitch Hallahan, Ayce Cordy, Levi Casboult

Both PNL and Marseilles get back on the winners list against the Belgiums. Berlin were carried by their midfield, with 4 centuries there and was looking like they'd grab the win. Step in jack Billings off the bench with a BOG performance to lift the Reindeers!

5 - J. Billings
4 - C. Enright
3 - M. Priddis
2 - T. Lynch
1 - D. Shiel

With all the Essendon suspensions, it presents an opportunity for its... lesser known players, doesn't it?

I'll let Hams decide by playing him against you, and depending how he goes, it'll be clear where he belongs  ;)

Updated team thread.

Very interesting trade period with a shift towards youth and some big names leaving the team after so long either through trading or retirements. 13 trades in our most active trade period since 2015 (11 trades)

1. Z. Williams + B. Stretch + N15 + N70 FOR P. Ryder + N4 + N41
2. J. Westhoff + H. Greenwood + T. Golds FOR N17 + N27 + N36 + N45 + N51
3. N52 + PSD14 FOR T. Miles + R31
4. N51 FOR D. Howard
5. N88 + R31 FOR R. Palmer + J. Batchelor
6. N17 FOR N21 + L. Webb
7. R14 FOR R20 + R24
8. N45 FOR D. Minchington + J. McGrath + N63
9. J. Garlett + N34 FOR P. Seedsman + N42
10. N41 + N42 + N63 FOR R. Henderson + D. Gore + N47
11. N. Jones + T. Menzel FOR M. Kennedy + J. Schache + R. William
12. PSD32 FOR R35
13. N47 FOR B. Smedts

we still have some experience in Hodge, Priddis and Ryder to help carry the team, but lacking depth in the midfield which will be solved through the draft. With picks 4, 21, 27 and 36, we will look to get some high quality youths to help build around our current youths.

so with our 4 picks having been taken we'd like to welcome our new crop of draftees from the international draft

At pick #4
Will Brodie
(http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/Images/2016-BRODIE-Will.jpg)

QuoteThe fiercely competitive Brodie is one of the premier onballers in this year's draft. The big-bodied midfielder was a consistent, uncompromising performer in the engine rooms of both the Murray Bushrangers and Vic Country, averaging 21 possessions (10 contested) in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Crashes packs and brings teammates into the game with well-executed handball. One of the Bushrangers' best in a losing grand final. Foot and back problems sidelined him for the NAB AFL Draft Combine.

At pick #21
Kobe Mutch
(http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/Images/2016-MUTCH-Kobe.jpg)

QuoteMutch stamped himself as one of the most improved players in 2016's draft pool with a consistent display at the division two under-18s national carnival, where he averaged 25 disposals across three games. The teenager's best traits are his work rate - he is an elite endurance athlete - and his ability to kick on both feet. His dual-sided skills allow him to spin out of stoppages and hit targets with a minimum of fuss, and he collects plenty of the ball.

At pick #27
Luke Ryan
(http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/Images/2016-RYAN-Luke.jpg)

QuoteThe damaging defender has come from relative obscurity after starting the VFL season in Coburg's development team. Ryan soon forced his way into the senior side and was the only mature-age player invited to the NAB AFL Draft Combine, which requires at least five nominations from League clubs. However, shoulder surgery ruled the 20-year-old out of testing. A good reader of the play and clever interceptor, Ryan took 12 marks - five contested - and had 29 touches in his senior VFL debut against Box Hill.

At pick #36
Declan Watson
(http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/Images/2016-WATSON-Declan.jpg)

QuoteThe tall key defender looked assured during the division two NAB Under-18 AFL Championships, performing shut-down roles for Queensland on the opposition's best forwards. Also averaged 15.5 possessions for the Allies in division one. The Aspley Hornets product is a very strong mark, reads the play well and throws himself into every contest. Nominated by the Brisbane Lions as an Academy selection.
