Hey fellas.
The layout will be how CF and Ossie posted in this thread.

Week 1 (Round 2 of NAB cup):
Randomly split everyone in to 3 groups of 6. The highest scoring team in each group goes through to the next round, as does the highest scoring team that finished second in their group.
e.g
Group A
Team 1 - 156
Team 2 - 143
Team 3,4,5,6 scores don't matter
Group B
Team 7 - 139
Team 8 - 138
Team 9,10,11,12 scores don't matter
Group 3
Team 13 - 159
Team 14 - 149
Team 15,16,17,18 scores don't matter
The teams in bold go through to the next round.
Then after that same as ossie's suggestion :)
With the Pools being:

Seoul
Tokyo
Wellington
New Delhi
Pacific
Europe-Africa
Berlin
Dublin
London
PNL
Cairo
Cape Town
Americas and Russia
Buenos Aires
Sao Paulo
Mexico City
New York
Toronto
Moscow
This is to get a little Continental competition for the first round.
As the top of each group will move forward as well as the highest scoring 2nd place finisher, for the later rounds I don't mind randomly allocating people opponents based on the first round scores (e.g. Pools of 4 now, 5th Vs 8th, 6th Vs 7th, 9th Vs 12th, 10th Vs 11th, 13th Vs 18th, 14th Vs 17th, 15th Vs 16th). OR I could randomly allocate opponents or let people see if there is anybody they are able to arrange matches with, wouldn't mind that either. Random allocation seems the easiest option, but if people would like to have a mini series or have a little rivalry match with somebody, organise it and let me know :). However, will hope it'll be handed in by the Tuesday that week so have time to randomly allocate the other teams! So if you want to organise a match, best to do it on the weekend please :).
EDIT: Will allow for 5 emergencies considering it's the NAB and players will tend to be missing/rested so may need the spots!
ROUND 1:Asia-PacificSeoul Magpies - 1197. HUGE score to top the group lead from the front by Danger's 248! Kelly (124), Duffield (113) and Bolton (111) was certainly the highlights for the Magpies under new Coaches! Great way to kick off their first match in charge, even if just Pre-Season. Jordan Roughead's 77 and Jake Lloyd's 85 probably won't be overlooked as they will be aiming to crack into this side!
New Delhi Tigers - 920. MASSIVE 240 from Captain Joey Montagna along with Blair's 87 were the only real stand out performances for the side. Mullett showing potential though with a solid 72. Knocking on the door for the side is Matthew White with his 67.
Tokyo Samurais - 877. Scotty Selwood continuing where he left off last year with 111 and Shuey's 91 was good backup. Carlisle (82) and Lewis Jetta (79) look ready to step up their game for the Samurais this season as it was a solid all round effort from the team. Stratton, Daniel Stewart and Ross all making a move to get into the team for next week with scores in the 60's!
Pacific Islanders - 799. Rocky managed 106 as Captain with de Boer (79) and Sam Gibson (75) being the best individual performers in the side. J. Simpkin, Tomlinson, Cunningham and J. Frost all potentially call ups for the coming week or two after scoring well in the 50's.
Beijing Bears - 786. Big effort from Harry Taylor scoring 124 backed up well by Big Cornelius with his 94. Could have pulled a bigger score if Rosa was able to stay on more. Kane Mitchell should be knocking on the door for the Bears after he was left out of the squad, only to notch up 100! Also expect Wines and Neville Jetta to be looked at in the future.
Wellington Warriors - 762. No Captain or Vice named so bottom of the group. Solid performances but no stand outs for the Warriors this round. Marc Murphy's 81 and first year Lachie Whitfield's 89 led the team. They would be happy with Whitfield's score and hope it's just a sign of things to come this season! Emergencies were called upon as well.
Europe-AfricaBerlin Brewers - 926. Franklin did well as Captain amassing 198. Magner managed 98 but the highest scoring non-captain player goes to an emergency in James Sellar who came in for 101! Purple would be very happy with him able to do so well to fill in down back. Everitt's 93 will certainly put him in contention for a first team call up in the near future.
London Royals - 898. A massive 216 from Captain brent Stanton led the team with Hannebery being great backup with his 104 as well. Unnamed Tuohy making a play for a call up with his 65, scoring higher than more than half of the team named this week!
Dublin Destroyers - 872. Redden's 132 as Captain was solid but it was Rance's 103 that stole the show for Dublin. They'd be very happy Rance has found a potentially high scoring role in the lineup. Mundy looking nice this pre-season with an 85.
Cairo Sands - 871.5. Hanley was a tad let down as captain with Armitage (98), Douglas (94) and Grigg (83) picking up the slack. Matt Jones gets the late call up as a replacement for Hams playing OOP.
PNL Reindeers - 839. Captain Priddis's 176 was backed up with new ruckman Griffin's 82 and Ray's 88. Ray has certainly shown he can perform given the chance.
Cape Town Cobras - No Team.
Americas and RussiaMexico City Suns - 1123. WHOPPING score with Goddard's 164 as Captain combined with Bartel's 114 and Sidebottom's 109. Was a great all round effort from the side with Pfeiffer the lowest scorer with 26. They could have managed a larger score had Baguley played, his 107 going to put pressure on Maca to try and fit him into this strong side!
Sao Paulo Pumas - 1008. Masten stood up as Captain with 226! With Hartlett's 98, Jacob's 80, Armstrong's 92 not to mention a great team effort, shows why they are one of the top teams from last year and set to contend again! Minson (66) and Porplyzia (60) couldn't even be named as emergencies shows that there is depth as well to the Pumas lineup! All done without Ablett, Sloane, Roughead, Waters and Zaharakis.
Moscow Spetnaz - 945. Very solid scores from Griffen (99), Shaw (91) and Treloar (90) with fairly decent backup enabled Moscow to perform pretty well in the group of death. Seedsman gets called in as an emergency to cover for Dixon in the Ruck. You'd imagine Meowmeow will be very pleased with Treloar, been bragging all pre-season that he will average over 100 this season and he may be quite right! Martin Clarke (75) and Colquhoun (78) also performing well to try and get their chance at first team action.
Buenos Aires Armadillos - 862.5. Alot of solid performances but nothing spectacular in the pre season. Swan scored 140 as Captain with Cox (81) and Boyd (98) being the only other notable scorers. Nails would be shaking his head at some of the performances and hope for them to pick up their game next week!
Toronto Wolves - 858. Late submission of the team and left out a Captain/Vice sadly. Also required emergencies named! Lucky for them it included Clint Jones' 87 to join Pendlebury's 99, Robinson's 99 and Zorko's 90 as the best players for the round.
New York Revolution - No Team.
ROUND 2:Seoul Magpies 1071 DEFEATED Sao Paulo Pumas 940.
Mexico Suns 1140 DEFEATED Berlin Brewers 925.
This makes the final of the Pre-Season comp the Seoul Magpies Vs Mexico Suns. Nobody has expected Seoul to make such a charge early with so many off-season dramas involving several coaching changes, but looks like they've done something right with JB & KoopKicka at the helm! Maca will look to keep the Suns roaring forward into the season, heavily favoured to contend for the top spot and Premiership again, so a Pre-Season Cup will just be the warm up for them.
In other action this round:
Moscow Spetnaz 700 DEFEATED BY Cairo Sands 879
New Dehli Tigers 709.5 DEFEATED BY Dublin Destroyers 1034
London Royals 912 DEFEATED BY Tokyo Samurais 972
Buenos Aires Armadillos 799 DEFEATED BY Pacific Islanders 863
Toronto Wolves 948 DEFEATED BY PNL Reindeers 960
Beijing Bears 656 DEFEATED BY Wellington Warriors 762
New York Revolution DREW WITH Cape Town Cobras due to no team being named from either side .
ROUND 3:FINAL!!!
Mexico Suns Vs Seoul Magpies
Other matchups will be decided after lockout this round.
The Pumas are looking forward to their title defense :)
Have you worked out exactly how it will be done HP? You could do it similarly to how it was done last year, but instead make it compulsory to play - http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,45130.0.html (http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,45130.0.html)
The good thing about that comp was you didn't have to do anything for round 1 of the nab where they have the stupid 40 minute matches split over 2 weeks...
Was likely going to do it like last season, probably easiest way given the structure of the NAB Cup ::).
Should be able to fill in the 3 weeks, but with the last week being the NAB Grand Final I assume they'll be putting out the scores for the other matches being played that week? I forgot how they work it out as never really followed proper scoring for DT during the NAB until after it was over.
Yeah, they release DT scores usually the following wednesday I think
How about this HP? (Don't know if you have organised the format already, so please feel free to ignore).
Week 1 (Round 2 of NAB cup): Each coach enters team, but have no opposition.
Week 2 (Round 3 of NAB cup): The top 4 scoring teams from last week play. 1st v 4th, 2nd v 3rd
Week 3 (NAB Cup Grand Final): The winners of last week? The SC scores for the Challenge matches should be up reasonably soon after?
Just a thought....
Another way you could go it is:
Week 1 (Round 2 of NAB cup):
Randomly split everyone in to 3 groups of 6. The highest scoring team in each group goes through to the next round, as does the highest scoring team that finished second in their group.
e.g
Group A
Team 1 - 156
Team 2 - 143

Group B
Team 7 - 139
Team 8 - 138
Team 9,10,11,12 scores don't matter
Group 3
Team 13 - 159
Team 14 - 149
Team 15,16,17,18 scores don't matter
The teams in bold go through to the next round.
Then after that same as ossie's suggestion :)
Edit - fixed your bold issues :)
Either way, I'm fine
Didn't know I had bold issues, always thought I was quite confident :P
Yeah I'm fine with whatever HP wants to do, just think the splitting in to groups thing is fun because if you get put in to a rubbish group you could still score rubbish, but still goes through so adds some luck. Which I guess some people wouldn't want though because then they would be the 4th highest scoring team and miss out on the finals...
Oh wait that's already happened :P
Oh burn!
Though, how about not-random?
Asia-Pacific
Beijing

Tokyo
Wellington
New Delhi
Pacific
Europe-Africa
Berlin
Dublin
London
PNL
Cairo
Cape Town

Buenos Aires

Toronto

Guess that would be the fairest way to do it, but I don't want it done that way since I would say 4 of the strongest 5 teams are in my group...

Was going to do it last night but fell asleep randomly while on the comp... I shouldn't eat late as I fall asleep like 20 mins after :-X. Only thing that bothers me about the above, is that a team just needs say 3 X Factor style players going off and they progress. And there is no competition between people first round so why I pretty much had my layout like CF's to add some more comp feel to it :D.

Why I like the grouping idea! Was likely to randomise the groups though but could work something similar to what Ossie proposed. Although as CF said, he'd have quite a tough group to get past!
And for 2nd and 3rd round, don't mind if people would like to play friendlies if knocked out. Will send out a PM later tonight asking Coaches if they'd be up for it (putting in a team for rest of the NAB) and those that do I can randomise their opponents unless they'd like to specifically face somebody (e.g. Rivalry match). Then they can organise themselves and can contact me about it.
Fairly sure I was meant to pick a preseason team for somebody.... Was it Toronto?
I had asked you to, but that was for if there was a round during the first round of the nab. Not sure if anyone else had...
That sounds familiar lol
Teams announced tonight for the NAB cup I think?
Let's see the World Clubs dust off the cobwebs
Hopefully nobody forgets, but as it's pre-season there is bound to be somebody :P.
PNL Reindeers:
Backs: J. Harbrow, H. Grundy, D. Myers, L. McPharlin.
Mids: M Priddis (C), K. Simpson, N. Lower (VC), D. Shiel.

Emerg: C. Smith, M. Lobbe, J. Trengove, T. Dennis-Lane, A. Graham.
Davis, Jones, Rich, Ball, Pavlich, Rioli and Westhoff all unable to take part this first round. Leaves our forward line decimated :o. Hoping the youngsters can stand up though given the chance!
Hi HP - do you reckon we should have 5 emergencies for the NAB cup? Always tough to choose....
Might be good to remind people also, slack barbies.
I'll announce the Berlin Brewers squad soon

Just threw this together quickly if koops wants to change anything he can
Bugger, 7:42....tried to type it up as quick as I could haha even omitted emergencies :P
Ah well, only my fault pretty sure that would be close to my ranking list anyway.
Also just realised I forgot my bench!
Cunners and Embley would have been my men with Young out.
If I was to put emergencies they'd be the following:
Sam Butler, Clint Jones, Jamie MacMillan, Tom Hickey, Aaron Hall
Reckon HP will be lenient :)
Not with the OOP players though!
I count 16 teams.....
No New York or Cape Town
I'm sure my boy Brad Sewell wasn't named for the game tonight. :-[
Guess it's only pre-season. :P
I find 7:42 fanfooty time is around 7:39 real world time anyway.
Let RB have his bench and emergencies, it's only preseason anyway :)

Ossie already knew my answers haha :D. Pre-Season so will be lenient obviously and not like you were a day late with them, just a few minutes so will accept the bench and emergencies. But the OOP Ruck I'll still half the score, sorry Mewtwo.
Are we doing the rule in the pre season comp where if one of your players starts as sub you can sub them out for one of your emergencies? If so I sub Wallis out for Duncan :)

I probably won't allow that seeing as there are 3 subs per team, not to mention 3 players being subbed out for them to come in. And can never tell who'll be sub, so it's bad luck if a player starts as one :-X. May hurt the teams who like playing their youth in this Pre Season Cup :P.
Going to make a spreadsheet to keep the scores now, for the teams which haven't been submitted shall make a team from Ossie's list lodgements from Players who are named to play! That will be fun :P.
I reckon the two teams that didn't submit should just be left out personally
I can send you my list of players if you want HP, just flick me your email via pm
My apologies to everyone, especially HP.
Was swamped this week with 3 SAC's and forgot to check last night :(

Could leave them out this week meaning they can't make it to the Final 4 and fight for the Cup. Although they would still be available for the future matches as a tune up for the Real Season.
Agree MC :) Study def takes precident...

Wow these are some low scores!
A lot of sub effected scores Oss I had 6 in my team alone.
No doubt :) I actually like it, shows 'quality' differs in the preseason (plus DT scores are lower than SC, especially in these shorter matches)

RB your problem was you didn't name a captain...
We don't peak in preseason. Moscow will probably do the same as last year. Lose our first 5 and build through the season and come home with a wet sail. NicNat is good to go but we are just resting him. When Tyson returns we'll start to DOMinate.
Whoever has Harley Bennell should take heed of my warning that "he'll do his knee" as I predicted when I traded him. I traded Nathan Wilson out of the team, and look at him now!
Sorry for the delay guys. Just took down all the players' scores who played and are in teams into a excel spreadsheet. Will work out scores after I come home tommorrow and get results and the Finals out as well! Planning on doing it for all 3 rounds so then have scores for players over the pre season if anybody would like after/before regular season :).

Haha whoops, fair to say I was in quite the hurry...lucky it's only preseason, I'll make sure to put my team in before 7:39 on a Friday in the regular season.
Haven't checked all my players scores but Swallow out didn't help much either.
Would have been nice to have Pendles' 99 doubled but only my fault!
SC scores of 135 to Hartlett and 103 to Armstrong is good signs for my defence :)
Add to that scores of 115 for Masten, 104 for Minson, 103 for Duncan, and 95 for Jacobs and things look bright :)
(yes I know it's only preseason)

Cheers Daz and at least you had Emergencies to cover them KB :P.
Wellington and Toronto didn't name a Captain or a Vice in their Pre-Season. That's a bold move by them, lets see if it'll pay off Cotton!
*Had to throw in that reference :P.
thanks HP
Asia-Pacific
Seoul Magpies - 1197.
Europe-Africa
Berlin Brewers - 926.
Americas and Russia
Mexico City Suns - 1123.
The match ups will be up tommorrow night as tired after doing all that.
Seoul, Berlin and Mexico City all top the groups! Pumas also advance to the finals after cracking the 1000 mark. Berlin may have scored the lowest of the 4 but did finish a respectable 5th highest overall for the round, so they can certainly pick it up next round! Seoul the suprise packet though, nobody saw that coming :o. The new coaches would be thrilled with that score!
Great write up mate :)
Yes we will certainly take notice of Lloyd now that you mentioned him :P
Nice wire up HP :)
As the second chancer I'm assuming I play Seoul since they were the highest scoring team? Could be tough!

HP, that's a terrific write-up - well done! Getting excited for the final 4.
Bad luck to Moscow missing out.....
Well done to my former team! The new regime is showing some real grunt! And happy for the team I coached this week Berlin to qualify. I reckon Berlin qualifying is the biggest upset based on last year's results

Would love to say otherwise, but I'll be honest; very surprised with my brewers! All of a sudden, very keen to take out this comp!
Awesome write-up HP, didn't even know Everitt got 93 until you said lol.
Here's hoping Grimes, Jack Steven, Garland/McDonald, and Jamar can come in this week, and repeat efforts from Sellar and Magner! Might have to play Everitt now :o

Haha of course not maca, don't really care who I play. All I'm saying is generally when there is a wildcard entry they would play the highest scoring team from the previous round. Or that is how I would run it anyway :)
Great work HP. Excellent write up. And yes, Treloar's 90 (113 supercoach) was pleasing!
I find it a little bit amusing that Moscow is located in Asia but we were grouped in with the Yanks. I guess it's because it's where the powerhouses are located so it makes sense for us to be there.
Well Russia is part of Asia and Europe, so clearly it was fair to put it in theamericas lol

CF is correct here. Was planning on getting the Wildcard entry as the #4 seed as the top 3 were already through. So it will be the Magpies Vs Pumas and Suns Vs Brewers with the Brewers hoping to be the underdog story this Pre-Season :P. The rest of the matches I'll assign somewhat based on first round scores to hopefully have some close matches! Should make the games more interesting that way :). Although alot can change in the pre-season.

ROUND 2
For the Pre-Season Cup, top scores Seoul Magpies will take on wildcard entry Sao Paulo Pumas. Meanwhile in the other semi final is the Mexico Suns against the Berlin Brewers looking to cause the major upset.
In other action this round will be:

New Dehli Tigers Vs Dublin Destroyers
London Royals Vs Tokyo Samurais
Buenos Aires Armadillos Vs Pacific Islanders
Toronto Wolves Vs PNL Reindeers
Beijing Bears Vs Wellington Warriors
New York Revolution Vs Cape Town Cobras

I have no idea, hard a hard time finding on the AFL site so may be wrong (the ones I link). Sorry if it confused you guys :-\.
Going to allow changes to team until the usually 7:40. Although any teams put in beyond this point cannot have any Bombers or GWS players (As being lenient with the teams submitted late as during the 1st quarter). So have a little time to change some things around if you'd like I guess cause of the early start caught alot off guard.

Crameri - 64
Baguley - 77
Berlin
Hibberd - 96
Would have loved Crameri or Baguley to fail, but Hibberd's high score certainly helps. Do the fanfooty DT scores change/adjust at all?
Terrible week for me, and a little confused with Masten as captain for me since he scored 0. Did he even play? m0nty doesn't have icons for that game so was he injured at the start or an unused sub?
If I leave him as captain then the Pumas scored an awful 819. If I'm allowed to have an emergency for Masten and give Hartlett the captaincy then I scored a still pretty poor score of 940...
Hmm doesn't really matter what score I get since Seoul scored 1,071 :(

Apparently Masten pulled a muscle in pre-game warm ups so technically didn't play in the match (although was named). Guess we can go to Vice Captain for him and bring in one of the emergencies to cover him, as in a normal AFL game, he would have just been a late out.
If you're correct, Seoul on fire this pre-season :o. Will get to scores later today and tommorrow!

Yeah since they are playing a week earlier in round 1 they are having this week off. It's why the Crows and Freo played a practice match earlier :)

But what if any of those teams made the NAB final....
then it was too bad they didnt get a break
which is why for even more reason then usual you cannot read anything into those 4 teams pre season form
ROUND 2 RESULTS! (Sadly no proper write up for it this week :(. May be one later in the week, like Friday).
Seoul Magpies 1071 DEFEATED Sao Paulo Pumas 940.
In other action this round will be:
Moscow Spetnaz 700 DEFEATED BY Cairo Sands 879
New Dehli Tigers 709.5 DEFEATED BY Dublin Destroyers 1034
London Royals 912 DEFEATED BY Tokyo Samurais 972
Buenos Aires Armadillos 799 DEFEATED BY Pacific Islanders 863
Toronto Wolves 948 DEFEATED BY PNL Reindeers 960
Beijing Bears 656 DEFEATED BY Wellington Warriors 762
New York Revolution DREW WITH Cape Town Cobras due to no team being named from either side :P.
Got to say the Destroyers pulled in a massive score smashing the Tigers while other teams scored quite respectably! Wellington picked up a win even though that score would have been beaten by most other teams so quite lucky! Moscow and Bueno Aires underperforming due to resting some stars. Match of the round in the friendlies goes to Wolves and Reindeers in a hotly contested contest!
THIRD AND FINAL ROUND IS NOW OPEN!

Take note of this whoever wants to put in teams this round.
Will not make any matchups, however, those who want to put in a team will be matched with the next team who puts in a lineup! (Besides the 2 teams who've made the finals :P ). May make it interesting and some Coaches may want to pick and choose who to face :P. So... If you post your team in the right order, you can pick your own opponent ;).

Can thank Mitchell for his 111 as well as solid backup around the ground with another 5 players scoring between 70-90 for you guys. There have been a few not so great Captain choices everywhere, even a team without one :o. It is a team effort so can always pick up the slack :D.
Oooh upset of the year with the Islanders taking down the Armadillos? >:D
Great stuff HP :)
Dublin looking deadly in the preseason, I really think i could sneak into the 8.
The Destroyers traded brilliantly! But incredibly brutally lol
Scored the 8th highest score..... will take that 8) 5th and 8th highest in consecutive weeks isn't bad for a team that finished 3rd last last year

yeah im one of the harder traders, I dont trade unless i think i win it easy.

Will probably still lose lol. So what, is it Adelaide, West Coast, Freo and Essendon aren't playing.... from memory, these are the guys not playing for me:
Essendon: Michael Hibberd (top scorer for me last week)
Adelaide: Andy Otten, Brad Crouch, Rory Atkins
West Coast: Cale Morton, Jamie Cripps
Fremantle: *crickets*
So yeah, only one real loss in Hibberd! 7 in total. That's your punishment for being a crows supporter CF lol
I guess I could also add Sheppard to my list since I have played him the last 2 rounds which takes the losses to 9! Then off the top of my head also got Riley, Forster, Silvagni, and Steinberg missing too! So 13 of my 45 missing before teams even announced! ::)

Is it just 3 emergencies or as many as we want? ;)
Just named NDS vice captain and added a couple more emergencies.

Both named in the squads for the game so I'm assuming so...

I'll try searching for some tommorrow, Wed or Thurs night! Something came up last week so have to deal with real-life priorities first so this may take a while, sorry guys for the delay :-\.
And I'm hearing some places are reporting scores for the practise matches (well for certain players), so they are certain to be around somewhere you'd imagine :P.
im sure you seen it Dom but just in case

Congrats Seoul! Brilliant all the way through the comp :)
Well done Seoul :)
With that, The Magpies have risen to the challenge to take the Pre-Season Cup in a 1237 to 1126 victory over the Suns! Nobody would have seen that coming but think Seoul would be very pleased with their performance this Pre-Season, hopefully it'll carry over to the regular season! Adcock and Russell's scores down back for Suns combined with Maric's performance wasn't enough for the Suns to get ontop. A more well round performance by the Magpies lifted them to the win.

As it's the last round, why not!
In our 3rd place Playoff match, Pumas held off the raging Brewers! If only the Pumas made the Final, could have won with their score! Ablett was the right choice as captain well backed up by the midfield as well as Gunston's 128. Brewers had Buddy as captain who did well but it was Steven and Edwards who stole the show, with Edward's top scoring with 155 :o. Certainly looking like they may have a change of fortune this season.

Good stuff HP :)
I'll take the 3rd place since that is where I finished last season. And since I won the pre season comp last season logic suggests that I will win the season proper this year. I love logic :P
Thanks very much to HP for running the show! Was really fun..... maybe coz I was winning lol.
Wow, were they DT scores? In which case, I'm very impressed with my Brewers, although we lost.
Buddy, Steven, Magner and Edwards shouldn't have to do all the work boys >:( But still, only pre-season, glad you got this far really.
And to the rest of the competition, I say this:
A STORM IS BREWING
Cairo given a bit to smile about! Happy with the boys. Think I did well in picking Matt Jones and Brett Goodes in the national and rookie drafts. Bring on 2013! :D

First 2 rounds were DT scoring, but did SC for the final round as they were out. If anybody would like to calculate their SC scores for the first 2 rounds, could always look up the link Daz gave :).
Certainly had a few underperforming and some overperforming (if you can say that), so sets up for quite an interesting season to see how the teams score when it really matters!
