Will the big man himself Dean Cox sustain his 110 average in supercoach this season? he is getting old and every year its the question of is he getting past it? but he always seems to pull out another big year. will this be the year he starts a big decline. or will the potential absence of nic nat give him a boost in early season production?
please give explanations in your answers on this topic.
why? why not?
I reckon if anything he'll pump it up this year- nic nat out for 8 means cox is rucking pretty much solo- he'll be right in the guts all game dominating the hit outs and racking up possessions. Only loss is that he wont be able to clutch as many last minute goals :P
Im betting he'll have another good year. He's like a bottle of Grange just gets better. The time will come when we will have to wave him goodbye but it wont be 2013. He just loves to compete. ;)
yeah another thing i like about him is he doesn't rely on athleticism to dominate such as explosive speed or jumping ability. so age doesn't effect him in those areas.
the guys a lock
IMO he's a lock and probably can play on for several years to come. Wouldn't he look good sitting in the goal square and doing a few forward ruck duties. Come to think of it he's a pretty fair shot at goal. Cheers.
Yeah, lock him in.
Age doesn't seem to affect him and he'll run amok without NicNat for the first few games.
Should dominate. Trying to pick between cox and buddy.

Buddy can chuck in those 70 point games, im tipping Buddy will drop at some point, Cox a little more confident with his consistency and hes good cover should a ruckman go down. Not having Buddy starting for the 1st time in a long time, always risky. :-\

Agree Grazz - I am not starting with Buddy this year - Hawks have a very hard start to the season which has influenced my decision and hoping he drops in price to allow upgrade. Cox gives the insurance that should a ruck be rested for a week you have the extra security, Most teams have berger as 2nd ruck and he will be on a modified training program this year,
So in summary imo Cox should be a lock for the security he gives with R/F DPP and touch wood has not missed a game for 3 years and will return 110+ average,

Worried that this might be the year for a rest every now and then. Eagles are in their premiership window, he's 32 this year and will carry a majority of the load early with NicNat out. Does this mean a greater chance of him being rested/vested/more time sitting in the goal square?

Rested-unlikely, Vested-no, Sitting in Goalsquare-yes,but could win the coleman doing that.

Lol yes he is, there's no doubt about that. But he still 31 this year and needs to be there when the Eagles need him most in September.

Sure is mate, but really all we have to go off is there recent history and Cox's recent history is 3 seasons without missing a game and having avgd 112 last year so thats good enough for me

In my side but as a forward.
I expect big cox will be in the top 2-4 scoring forwards in 2013 and his forward eligibility opens up an opportunity to get in another premium scoring ruck
Same dilemma with him vs Buddy. Cant leave either Goldy or Leuey out of my rucks, too good value there.
May go Cox on the basis his price will drop least
