He is cheap in both forms of the game, but with limited job security, I wouldn't go near him. Arnot will play a big part In Richmond's future though and will replace Tuck, Jackson and Foley in two to three years, in the Richmond midfield, so he would be handy in the XV concept.

Astbury is an important part of Richmond's future and wasn't given Richo's number 12 for no reason, he has a lot of talent and will be a valuable player for your XV side.

He is more suited to SuperCoach, as he takes a lot of marks from the opposition, but I don't think he is worth taking a punt on, in either competition. He is awkwardly priced and even though I expect him to play every game next season and improve his average by 15 points in both comps, he is not worth starting as he won't be a premium. Batchelor could be a starter in some teams XV and will be valuable in the future, so I wouldn't look to trade him.

This will hurt Chaplin's fantasy scores and I wouldn't go near him in DreamTeam as he scores terribly and even though he scores well in SuperCoach, I think there are better options out there. Chaplin should be handy down back in the XV comps for a least a couple more years.

But with another season under his belt, he will be able to add some consistency to his game. He is more suited to DreamTeam as gets a lot of tackles and has the ability to rack up possessions. Conca is definitely a risky pick, but if your looking for someone to have a break out year, Conca is definitely one to consider as he should get more midfield time. Conca will have a lot of value in the XV comps and even though he may not be starting in your XV, he will be a gun in a few years and is worth holding onto.

Cotchin had a great season in 2012 and I expect him to take his game to the next level and average 120+ in both competitions. He is a lock in every team's midfield, no mater what fantasy game your playing. Cotchin knows how to deal with a tag and has a huge ceiling as shown with some big games in 2012. Cotchin is one of the most valuable players in the XV competition, as he is already a premium at 22.

He may not be Deledio or Cotchin but he’s still a viable fantasy option who is a unique and a bit cheaper than the aforementioned. Grigg’s definitely an option for your team if you want someone just a bit different from everyone else but the question is whether he can lift his average to over the ton. Personally, I think he can. Oh and don’t be put off by that killer ‘stache.

Toga says: Taken with pick 47 in the 2010 National Draft, Helbig is a slight-framed midfielder, often used to play defensive roles in the centre square due to his ferocious tackling. His 2012 season was struck by injury, resulting him only playing 5 games compared to the 10 he played in his first season with Richmond, and was subsequently used as the team's sub on numerous occasions. As a result, his average is down by almost 20ppg in both DT and SC, and will therefore be underpriced, however I don't see him getting enough games, or escaping the green vest enough in 2013 to be a viable fantasy option. As with some of the Tigers' other young midfielders, he should see regular games in the next few years, however, as Tuck, Jackson and Foley get older, so he could be a valuable pick up in the XV competitions.

Toga says: Bachar Houli is one of the success stories at Richmond - after being picked up by the Tigers when he was delisted by the Bombers in 2010, his career has flourished, and he has become a pivotal aspect of the Tigers' back six, and his contribution to the team has been recognised by consecutive top-10 placings in Richmond's best and fairest count. Often being used as a rebounding half back for the Tigers, Houli has been known to rack up fantasy-relevant numbers without being a standout performer. Thus, he often flies under the radar of fantasy coaches. He could be a good option next season as a cheaper POD in both DT and SC, however most coaches prefer to stick with recognised premiums who might score slightly higher numbers week in week out. Definitely one to consider in XVs competitions however.

Toga says: Dan Jackson is a defensive midfielder, often used to play tagging roles, and therefore, has never really been a quality fantasy footy option, and probably never will be. His averages in DT and SC are not really respectable enough to even consider him for your DT/SC teams, and given his age and game style, I for one doubt that this average will ever really improve. Despite this, Jacko may be the kind of player one could look at for the reserves of an XV team, as for the next few years he should see regular game time in the 1's given the lack of taggers in the Tigers line-up, but will be overtaken in the near future by young up-and-comers such as Matty Arnot and Brad Helbig. Another drawback however is his seemingly inevitable ability to get himself rubbed out for weeks at a time doing silly things on field, it seems he just can't resist whacking someone every now and then!

Toga says: Renowned for his ferocity on field despite his size, Jake King is seen as a cult figure for Tigers supporters, but an annoying little antagonist by supporters of other clubs. Personally, I feel as though his aggression and spark on field is supremely important and inspiring for his team as a whole, as they can always rely on him to put his body on the line. While useful as a defensive small forward for the Tigers, he isn't really fantasy relevant at all, and I think this will become even more so over the next couple of years. The Tigers have recruited a number of players over the past few years, including Chris Knights, Aaron Edwards and Matt McDonough, and currently have an abundance of small forwards, which may see him handed the green vest this season, or otherwise omitted from the team. I would steer clear of him in all forms of fantasy competitions.

Toga says: Already written off by many because of his failure to live up to lofty expectations, and because of his reportedly 'bad boy' attitude off the field, I for one am not discounting Dusty for season 2013. While there was a drop in his average between 2011 and 2012, primarily due to him becoming seemingly complacent with his position in the side, I think his club-imposed suspension mid season in 2012 would have provided him with the kick up the backside he needed to get his footy back on track a bit. What didn't help his drop in scoring was the fact that Dusty often found himself positioned up forward in the pockets, however Richmond's recruiting of Aaron Edwards and the return of Ty Vickery should do wonders in seeing Dusty pushed further up field on to a flank, with more time in the midfield, and his scoring should improve once again in 2013.

McIntosh is a key position defender with a slight frame that is also capable of playing on the wing and may emerge as a flexible utility. He impressed at the national championships and later with the senior Peel Thunder team where he played a variety of roles in the 4 games that he played for them. His fantasy scores in these competitions varied upon what roles that he was given, he scored well with Peel Thunder averaging in the 70’s in DT and SC, although in the national championships his numbers were more limited. KCN says: Morris along with pick 15 was traded to the Tiger’s from Greater Western Sydney in exchange for pick 14 in the lead up to the 2011 National Draft. He is a solidly built defender who is often assigned to a small forward, although is also capable of creating play from the back half of the ground. Morris having had to wait several years before his chance at AFL level finally made his debut at 23 years of age, wasted no time to cement his place in the side and went on to play all games bar one. He was quickly noticed among fantasy circles as a mature age player whom was ready to make an impact at AFL level. His bargain basement price certified his selection in many teams and along with teammate Brandon Ellis were two very popular options as defence rookies. He managed to average 65 in Supercoach and 59 in Dreamteam which was a very handy effort for the many coaches who selected him. For the 2013 season I expect him to expand on that average but will not make him a very good option for fantasy football. He appears to have made a place for himself in the Richmond starting 18 and is on track for a long career, which makes him rather viable for selection in XV competitions.

KCN says: Nahas started his football career at Port Melbourne after being deemed to small to make it at AFL level. He was finally given his chance by Richmond whom picked him with their ninth pick in the 2009 rookie draft. Due to his light frame his game relies on pace which he has in spades. Usually plays a small goal kicking role for the Tigers and occasionally moves up the ground into the midfield. His first few seasons were good but it not until the 2011 AFL season where he really hit his straps, subsequently putting in several match winning performances where he was both prolific on the scoreboard and in the disposal counts. In 2012 Nahas was not as fruitful, although he regularly played his part in a good season for the Tiger’s. He was a useful rookie for fantasy coaches in his debut season playing 19 games with averages of 71 and 69 respectively for DT and SC, he wouldn’t have broken many hearts in his second season as he was in his second year and would not have been a regular feature in many teams. For his third season he became a fantasy revelation with many handy scores in the forward line. However with his form his fantasy scoring also fell last season to a mere 65 average in DT and 70 in SC.. While I do not expect him to return to his free flowing scoring of 2011 in the new season, I do expect him to raise his average a small amount in DT and maybe a little more in SC. Additionally I predict that he will play a big role in the Tigers on field fortunes as he is now one of the older players in the side and will have a larger responsibility. Due to his position in the side being cemented and assuming that he does not lose consistency or get injured “touch wood†he will be a capable pick in XV competition for at least another 5 years or so.

Toga says: One of the most underrated mids in the competition, who has been a revelation under Damien Hardwick after years of struggle, Tucky had a stellar year in the Yellow and Black in 2012, upping his DT average from the year before by a whopping 34 ppg! A reliable player, with his lowest score being a first round sub-affected 47, he scored more than 90 points on 16 occasions this season, whilst 5 of his tons were 130+ DT and 10 of his tons were 130+ SC! So when Tucky goes big, its very big! As i said, he is very underrated as a midfielder, which is great for his DT and SC prospects because he is less likely to cop tags from opposition teams whilst lining up alongside Cotchy and Lids. KCN says: Taken with pick 50 in the 2005 National Draft for Essendon, Lonergan’s tenacious, no-frills approach in the midfield trenches holds particular appeal for Richmond coach Damien Hardwick. His 2012 season was inconsistant, playing 14 games with varying fantasy success peaking in round 6 against the Lions with a Supercoach score of 142 and a DT score of 129. Hes is also infamous for breaking the shoulder blade of Andrew Carrazzo subsequently sending many fantasy teams into disarray. The backlash from supporters was harsh, and he was even sent death threats in the mail which must have dented his confidence to some degree. His role as a tagger at the Bombers rarely put him into fantasy calculations and his fantasy scoring plateaued early in his career in just his second season where his DT average was in the low 60's and his Supercoach in the early 70's and late 60's. His selection on the rookie list gives the impression that Hardwick may use him as backup should Jackson or another tagger fall to injury and with his experience will relish another opportunity at AFL level. Scoring wise if he manages to get a game I would expect his scores to be hovering around the high 50's in DT and High 60's for Supercoach. Lonergan would be handy midfield depth at best, in the XV competitions.

KCN says: Taken with pick 78 in the 2011 National Draft by his former club Geelong, being the oldest first time draftee in history. He was than delisted by Geelong and Richmond threw the experience ruckmen and lifeline in the 2013 rookie draft, using pick 36. Stephenson is an experienced ruckman coming up in the ranks originally from Redan in the Ballarat Football League and then to the North Ballarat Roosters. He came into the 2012 season looking like a readymade ruckman in a team which desperately needed one, he finally got his chance to play AFL in the first round against Fremantle, however his form was not up to scratch and he found himself in and out of the side and only played the 8 games in 2012. With the acclaim that he sustained after being drafted by the cats his fantasy price was at a bargain basement level and was a very popular pick in very many teams. The 1-3 ruck strategy was made viable due to the potential scoring and job security that he offered along with Jonathon Giles, Jarrad Reddan and others. However due to his lack of stability in selection he left many coaches disappointed with his season, although for myself he did the job accordingly. His fantasy average was hovering in the 50’s in both DT an SC , in his better games he would score in the 70’s but they were few and far between with many choosing Reddan over him when a premium was injured. For the coming season his first challenge will be to get onto the senior list at Richmond, which if not done before the season could take a while injury permitting. If he does manage to get onto the senior list he will have to compete with Maric, Derickx and other rookies whom may step up. I believe that at some point he will manage to get a game or two, however I fail to see him scoring well. Also in the XV he would be a poor choice due to two factors, one being his age the other being his job security.

Batchelor's 2013 prediction was meant to be the other way around :-[ will update it now.
I reckon Conca may do a little better in DT, because he can win a lot of the ball, but dosen't always hit a target, butin the next few years I reckon he will be more of a SC'er as he will win a lot of hard ball gets and contested possessions.

50/50, Martin will play more Midfiled time as he gets better and will play less forward time with the inclusions of Knights, Edwards, Petterd. Tuck and Foley may be gone by 2014 as well so I reckon he probably won't.
