Title: WXV List Lodgements
Post by: ossie85 on November 19, 2012, 10:00:00 AM
Hi all,

Just to repeat how it works....

List lodgement cut off being December 15. Drafting can begin earlier than that if all list lodgements have been received, but can't start until the AFL preseason and rookie drafts are complete.

Recommend you wait until AFL drafts are complete before lodging your list

Your list lodgement must include:
- The axing of all players retired/delisted from AFL clubs that did not find a new home at another club

- The axing of all players you want delisted from your own club

- List lodgements can not have any more than 41 players. If you have 41 players, you get ZERO picks in the national draft. If you have 40 players, you have 1 pick in the national draft. If you have 30 players, you get 11 picks in the national draft. Even if you have say picks 2, 20 and 38 - if you have only 2 picks you will not be able to use pick 38.

- Every player must be listed in order of preference. I will use this list to determine late replacements during the year (i.e. if you have run out of emergencies, the next player in will be based on that list).

So an example would be:

Collingwood Magpies Lists Lodgement

The List:

1. Scott Pendlebury
2. Dane Swan
3. Travis Cloke
..
..
..
..
..
34. Ben Johnson (sorry Benny J!)

^ All of the above players MUST be on an AFL List. If you list 34 players, you get 7 picks (41 minus 34 = 7) in the International Draft.

Retirements/Delistings:

Simon Buckley
Jonathon Ceglar
Paul Cribbin
Daniel Farmer
Shae McNamara
Luke Rounds
Lachlan Smith
Trent Stubbs
Chris Tarrant
Kirk Ugle
Cameron Wood

^ Any of these players that are on an AFL List will be available in the International draft.

Is was a tough decision for my last delisting between two players I was keen to get rid of, and Nathan Brown was the unlucky one.

Is this right oz? I have 9 draft picks, does this now allow me to use all of them?

Sorry guys! Ignore the rookie demotion issue, that's since been scrapped until AFTER the international draft.

Also, hold off just a little, I need to work out how many players there are.... Not very many drafted today :/

Ok... I have a list of 823 listed players (2 have question marks? Gideon Simon and Sean Gregory, what's there story?)

Anyway, 823 leaves us with 45 players each with 13 players left over....

HOPEFULLY I've got all the delistings (not sure at all on the rookies).

So yeah, 45 player lists (down from last year's 46). 41 Senior, 4 rookies as per original plan.

These are the "forced" delistings - Let me know if I've missed any!

Sean Gregory was drafted by the Bombers and should be senior listed now if I'm not mistaken.

He is a defender.

You've got my forced delistings right.... only 4!

Me, Tokyo and dublin had 4 each - the lowest. You'd think 2 of the last years' bottom teams would have the most! lol

EDIT: Toronto had 1! what! good job!

Maca24 - what's the go with Corey Enright?

FisherSaints - that list is rubbish, Orren isn't yours, Prismall is delisted and that's as far as I got. You need to order in the correct way like in the first post.

Yes I do JB but still had to delist a player to obtain pick 45. Made the decision that pick 45 was possibly more valuable than Joyce.

That's possible after the national draft holz :)

Not sure how many you are allowed to demote though. I reckon since this is the first year of there actually being a rookie list you should be allowed to demote 2, but after that only one each year...

Still waiting on 4 teams.
(Pacific, Wellington, Buenos Aires, PNL)
Title: Re: WXV List Lodgements
Post by: ossie85 on December 14, 2012, 09:39:58 AM

For the four team remainings, if don't receive list lodgements, will assume that only the forced delistings are the only delistings.

This works out fine for Buenos Aires, Pacific (though they would forfeit there last 3 picks) and Wellington (would forfeit last 2 picks), but PNL is the bigger issues - I'd have to delist 4 extra players (last 4 drafted last year) and they'd receive no picks.

Yea mate the 41 players is prior to the 5 rookie picks.  So you have to select 41 players including International Draft picks then later on as per rules we have a rookie draft to fill team.
Title: Re: WXV List Lodgements
Post by: CrowsFan on December 14, 2012, 06:51:41 PM
Ok I see you've now taken the rookie picks out of your list, but why hav you delisted nat picks? That makes no sense since you only have a list of 36 players. After the international draft you are required to have a list of 41 players...

I think Q was doing the list just incase C4 wasn't able to send one in on time (today is the deadline I am pretty sure). Hopefully Q can see this and rethink the players I guess or C4 can put in the list he wants.

Just been talking to Torp Oss and he will lodge to confirm to be sure.  It will basically what has been lodged with 36 players and the 5 draft picks.

According to another thread his list is "ready to go" so you do wonder what's taking so long.

I try not to comment re: Nails. It definitely goes against him though :(

Thanks HP for posting that.

Sincere apologies that my dispute with Nails is impacting everyone else - all I won't to do is for us to stay out of each other's way.

Unfortunately, deliberately delaying the draft is something that shouldn't be done. So am taking away Nails first pick (#53) - not that big of a punishing as he gets that pick back at the end of the draft, but this is frustrating for me and for everyone else wanting to start the draft as soon as possible.

Again really sorry guys.

He only asked me around like 9:30 I think so think harsh to take away first pick to be honest, putting personal issues aside. Others were also late entering it past day or even today (me included) and there was a deadline and it was posted before. Just think it's a bit much.

Also this suggests:

My worlds list is ready for submitting

I don't even need rookie picks in Asians... Just skip me for my remaining picks, I'll pick spuds that are left.

I can keep up with them easy as flower, it just depends how hard I try.

You had it ready to go at least 9 hours before HP did.

Please, just do your own thing, and I'll do mine. It doesn't have to be an issue

I'm going to use the power of logic here

To "delay" the draft, it'd involve me holding up pothead from taking his pick. Considering he has not been online for 29 hours... It'd make around half a dozen teams guilty of "delaying" the draft...

Also considering Torp's final lodgement was only 90 minutes before mine and AN OFFICIAL team lodgement from c4's team came AFTER mine...

Not sure how I 'DELAYED' the draft at all.

It might have been 'ready' doesn't mean I wouldn't mind talking to PB about the team or other advice lines and getting their opinions. I'm sure 100% of teams posting their lists the second it was ready.

I did not delay the draft a single minute. I submitted WITHIN the deadline (WTF ARE DEADLINES FOR IF THEY'RE NOT DEADLINES?!?!?!?!??!?!!?!)

And mine wasn't the final official submitting...

Pothead may have an email notification when he received a PM (like I do), in which case he might come online. Either way, I doubt you looked at pothead's activity before you decided to delay giving your lodgings for at least 9 hours.

Pothead is (imo) the most inactive coach in the WXV and falsely accusing me of not checking whether he's online or not doesn't change a thing. Like I previously mentioned I was also at work tonight... Not like I was sitting on the computer for 9 hours straight, rubbing my fingers together like Mr. Burns sniggering to myself about the non-delay I was causing.

And if he comes online from an email he /MIGHT/ get... why'd he let himself get a warning... :o

Sorry Nails, all I know is what people tell me.

You said your list was 'ready' at 1:30. But now you say it wasn't

You asked Hellopplz to submit your team for you.... and I honestly don't know why other than to make some kind of point that you don't like me. Your allowed to not like me, that's fine.

Bottom line, I put in a lot of time on this because I enjoy it. But still, is a lot of time. You said to me that "You wouldn't be worth my time", again that's your choice, but not something I'm willing to play games with.

I'm with Nails on this one ossie.

The list lodgements were always due midnight 15th December. Nails got his list in before this time. Yes, the draft could have started earlier, but he played by the rules and got his lodgement in on time. Penalising him like this is harsh and it should be revoked.

And realistically, what is the rush? We've got months before the season is due to start. At this rate, we're going to have a giant lull in February where there is nothing on cause we've rushed through everything. Personally, I believe the draft shouldn't have started until next year, giving ALL coaches a break over Christmas and New Years.

Otherwise this game is going to become a 24/7, year-long affair, which I'm sure no-one can commit to. I know I can't.

Still have no idea what you're on about... you're the one who blocked me because I stood up for myself when I posted /my/ opinion in /my/ thread.

You never even expressed a problem with me, we could've sat down like gents behind our computer screens and discussed any issues (I was unaware of) but instead you just chose to ninja block me.

And if we're going to bring up PMs

QuoteYou will have to stay on top of the Worlds comp via other means, because I will not send you anything either.

By not PM'n me the same material you'll PM the other 15 coaches, I'll always (most likely) find out later, therefore take longer to reply and therefore slightly delay the competition for every trade vote, every time a community decision needs to be made, everytime everything...

Therefore multiple delays of the competition vs. zero from my mind (I wasn't even the last list lodgement)

That's for others to say. :-X

Nails has done nothing wrong all season and he's been a fantastic coach. And yet suddenly, he's being punished for playing by the rules. Ouch. :-X

(No offence to meow), but where are his sactions for disappearing randomly throughout for the year?

I don't fully understand what happened with FS (only just hearing about it now), but that too seems rash.

All year, there haven't been any sanctions or penalties, and all of sudden, bang bang. Sacked and draft pick revoked. Huh? Something doesn't seem quite right.

I guess the central point is that I do not know why you would ask HP to submit your list for you, other than to make some kind of point. Up until then, I was more than happy to give you until the deadline without question.

I take your point about being 'gents', but I have a very busy life outside this (as I'm sure you do also). You want to be talk behind my back (which you admit you 'might' have done, and I know you did), and say I'm not worth your time. That's fine. Not sure why I need to seek you out though and ask why you do those things.

@c4, FisherSaints was something that other coaches asked me to act on. Wasn't my doing that one, I gave FisherSaints so many opportunities to explain, but he couldn't. I really, really, really, really DIDN'T want to do that.

Why he had the same IP/hostname as Carltonrok.

What did FS need to explain? ???

He and carltonrok shared an IPS address, apparently after saying they didn't share a computer. Leaving some coaches to believe they were the same person. I asked if they were, he said they were cousins. I asked why he didn't tell us that he'd left for a trip when we were doing the initial draft, he said he should of but didn't. I asked him about the logic behind his trading plan, his answers were inconsistent. I asked him why his list lodgment was so poor, he couldn't answer that either. I asked him if was committed, he couldn't really answer that either. I looked so hard for a reason to keep him as coach :(

Do we have actual proof that he shared an IP address or are we going on someone's word?  :-X

This is kind of what happened but I think some things are getting lost in translation.
Some key differences that alter the story entirely.

I'm not going to go into it here though...

I don't understand the issue about nails- his list was lodged well within the specified time by hp- why it was lodged by hp isn't really a concern, nails could have had internet issues etc. we don't know, but he had also confirmed this was the correct list lodging  before the lockout as well. I don't understand why he should be sanctioned :S

As for FS and carltonroks... they mightn't have even known they'd used the same computer- for instance if they'd both used their grandfathers internet unwittingly, as for why FS's list was a bit odd, I haven't looked at it in detail, but it was legible and understandable right? in the nicest way possible, FS isn't the oldest or most experienced coach, if what he was doing was clear, let it slide imo.

Internet issues don't make sense - would have taken the same effort to post it himself versus emailing HP. Also, HP said he was holding off posting because "something between" us. As far as I'm aware, this hasn't been disputed. I'm not going to put up with that kind of stuff. I'm doing my best to be polite, but I'm not going to have constant pot shots at me. Seriously, all that needs to happen is Nails and I to stay out of each other's way. That's all I want.

In the end, I took away pick 53 - which isn't an earth shattering thing to do. I gave away my team, because I wanted to take some control over the rules and issues like this.

Either FS and carltonrok are the same person (unlikely), or he didn't do a thing to help us when carltonrok disappeared (which isn't really fair on everyone else when we were trying to work out how to go forward). As you suggest "FS isn't the oldest or most experienced coach". I really looked for a reason not to remove him, I really did. I sent a whole bunch of emails, trying to work out what was going on, and the answers didn't make sense and at times were contradictory.

Sid said "This is kind of what happened but I think some things are getting lost in translation.", but this is what I could get from my own emails with him, not from what people told me.

Having both things happen (Nails and FS) happen at the same time is unfortunate, but a coincidence. C4, you made a point earlier that suggested you think I'm being harsh. With the exception of a very bad outburst against bomberboy (which I was completely wrong and apologised for), I think I've been very reasonable and I think I've listened to you guys, your ideas and your opinions. I want to implement a 'resting' rule and a salary cap, but I'm not going to because there is concern about this is the group.

Whenever someone disappears, I contact assistant coaches trying to make sure they don't get sacked. You mentioned meow before c4, but if I was to be honest many times I've had to track down Q for you. This is something I want to do for everyone, because this competition should get better every year, and a couple of MIA weeks shouldn't count in the long run.

I send reminders every week, which honestly I shouldn't have to, but don't mind doing. I process scores, collect statistics and record a history. All of this takes time, which I don't mind, because I enjoy it.

So when somebody talks smack about me, says he doesn't have time for me, and gets someone else to post for him for no other reason to make an unknown point against me - all of which is his right. But I should have the right to ignore him. I should have the right to continue to try and enjoy this game, and I should have the right to make reasonable (and pick 53 is reasonable) actions when he is impacting the game. Whether he delayed it or not isn't really the issue, and probably right he likely didn't, but the risk was there and I believe was done to have a shot at me.

Thanks everyone for your input here, it shows that people care about what happens. Which I think is terrific

This.

You seem to have said they shared the same IP address so they must have used the same computer... because they said they hadn't used the same computer clearly they were lying (at least insinuated)

This shows once again how ill informed you are, quick to rush to make decisions and without even consulting the public anymore. In the past you at least put to a vote would should be done with Buenos Aires, now all of a sudden FS is sacked without question?

Now, you assumed (and you made an ass) that they had shared the same computer, at least that's the insinuation. Any vast number of computers using the same router will display the identical IP to the outside world. e.g. You can have someone on an ipad and a laptop - same IP, difference devices

2 different desktops - same IP to outside world
1 laptop 1 desktop - "

Just because they had the "same IP" a couple times doesn't mean they were explicitly cheating and in the past (according to what has been said) it wasn't a problem when they said they hadn't used the same computer. So now when there's no proof they haven't/aren't the same person etc. it's NOW he gets removed?

I said nothing about this years.

Really sorry to hear about your mum FS, really am...

I'm asking for clarity is all... Your trading strategy seems to be to reverse this year's trading strategy? Is that a change of mind? I'm still not sure why wouldn't tell us about carltonrok last year. Seems an odd thing to do is all. I believe you though.... I really don't want to lose you, and I reckon most of us want to keep you on, including me....

Sigh :( I follow up complaints, and as usual it gets complicated. I'll ask the person who raised the complaint to see what they want to do

@Nails, I asked many questions about FisherSaints. The reason why I don't put as many things to vote, is I no longer have a team. This seemed to be accepted. I never made an assumption, someone complained, I asked questions.

Nails, I'd also be willing to reconsider the pick 53 issue if you tell me why you asked HP to post your team. It can't have been internet issues. If it was done to have a shot at me, well, that's not something I can accept. What reason was it?

Thanks ossie, she is getting better but still reasonably sick.

Torp and I talked tactics for next year and we both agreed. It is a complete change for last year I know but we know we have to do it
Title: Re: WXV List Lodgements
Post by: ossie85 on December 16, 2012, 12:04:07 PM

I guess that's what I'm after FS, thanks for that, an admission it was a change of tactics - that's what wasn't being made clear. Sorry for all the stress caused by this. If you see my post in the Discussion thread, I did say 'until further notice' as a get out clause in case things became clear. Still waiting on feedback from other person

I'm getting tired of this Nails discussion though. The delay thing was probably a poor reason to give initially (though Nails -  Torp's lodgement before yours and Q's after were nothing more than confirmations, no changes. Your list lodgement was 8-9 hours after the last - but this doesn't really matter).

I think Nails asking someone else to post his team was poor and aimed at me, is this paranoia? I don't know, Nails has yet to give a reason, and internet problems simply don't make sense.

I think that Nails hasn't breached any rules. Someone said earlier that we have plenty of time to finish this. Torp and c4 simply re-posted their lists. The draft is started. I think Nails keeps his pick but just next time he needs to respond quicker. We are in no rush

It's not really the time it took for the list lodgement, it's the reason why he asked HP to post it instead of himself. Around 1ish yesterday Nails said his list was ready to go. HP said he was "holding off" lodging because of our dispute. It's hard not to interpret that as holding back his list on purpose. I'm happy for Nails to say his version of events, but he has yet to do so.

Can we chill on this guys. We need to realise that we have a wide spread of ages in coaches and this is not intended to offend anyone but levels of understanding differ and what may seem clear to some is not as easy to understand by others,

I am aware from both sides and just think it is time to draw a line in the sand and start afresh for the sake of the competition.  I too were concerned with some of the trades at the Tigers but did not complain.

This may mean some change of attitudes towards each other but may be needed if we are to move on.

My suggestions are to re-instate Nails 53 pick as he made deadline.  Nails to continue posting in the thread and to receive coaches PM's as well.

We reinstate Fisher Saints as co coach of the Tigers.  Think we need to accept his explanation for the change in strategy and possible double teams.

Ossie as administrator of the comp and after being relatively lenient last year may be time to really reinforce penalty situations. probably good idea to re define the weekly rules and expectations to make the job you do easier. You should not have to spend your time chasing either so define the rules to all. do not chase and then issue first warnings if rules breached.

This is a great competition and would hate to see it ruined by personal in fighting and grudges.

My opinion from the sidelines.

Hi Ringo - yes, you're right. I should redefine the 'penalty' situation. Something I'm thinking about is if someone misses submitting a team, they are penalised 1 point (4 points for a win like in the AFL). But haven't ironed all that out yet.

Seems I'm very much in the minority here guys, and that's fine, I'm willing to turn that opinion around. Nails has pick 53 back. The FisherSaints issue WAS NOT of my making though, I just followed up on a complaint, so I will wait back until I hear back from the original person.

But you guys need to decide how much power you give me - I became independent on the understanding I would have some unilateral say, but this seems to upset people (who didn't object initially). But when I make decisions, people jump up and down. Give me some clarity, I don't want to put every decision to a vote.

I should also say that I thought the penalty (pick 53) was pretty lenient, and likely would not have made a substantial - if any - difference. I mis-judged the reaction.

I really must stress though, I won't accept any more negative comments from Nails. It is a simple thing in the end, but I have no patience for it.
