Hot Fuzz has to be up there. Is such a great movie and Pegg and Frost always make a great combination. But the best part of the movie comes closer to the end when the conspiracy is uncovered and they start killing everyone. :D

Well Ive had a good think and I do go over the past 40 years and my first and foremost has been my favourite all my life
Papillon - Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQeen a classic story and book. This is the ultimate escape movie.
Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels - briliant plot
Avatar - Well it was just mind blowing

Exactly, it was an incredible movie experience that's why its up there. Also I'm the guy that doesn't like animated or futuristic films so why would I rate Avatar.
Of course any western or war film with Clint Eastwood is an automatic selection 8)
gladiator
white chicks
man on fire
Shawshank

that's a crap theory people going to see it does not mean they thought it was good or put it amongst the best movies they have ever seen they got pulled in by the publicity and the wow factor it has which distracts you from how shower the movie really is

Can't argue with the number mate. They aren't in it for the quality, just the $$$
And it also got a 8/10 on imdb
Avatar was one of the worst movies i saw in 2009 and i saw it twice in cinemas
8/10 for the highest grossing movie made is not really something to brag about

Titanic only got 7.6/10 so yeah Avatar was rated higher and hence the higher grossing ::)
yeah and look at Toy Story 3, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight
i could go on and but these all had lower grossing then Avatar but still get better ratings which again proves my point highest grossing movie does not mean everybody liked it
But all the ones you mentioned still had great grossing. All in the top 15.
My favourites would have to be Madagascar (the original), The Longest Yard and The Yogi Bear Movie. Honourable mentions to Anchorman, all the Harry Potter Movies, all the Die Hard movies and Ted.

Well it goes on the year it was realised. A lot of the good movies like Goodfellas etc were made years ago when the grossing was low. All of the most recent movies are the highest prossing except Titanic really, just props how big that movie is. If it was made this year it would probably hit 5 billion haha.

It doesn't make a difference if you go by all time grossing or year by year grossing you get the same results.....
No I said if the old classic highest rated movies were brought out like now, they would get a way greater grossing than they did because the grossing 10+ years ago was well below the current grossing.

No mention of the mighty Monty Python movies ? Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, Holy Grail etc. Great movies IMO.. 8)
:o How did I forget them?!?!?!?!?! They are some of the best movies of all time. My favourite sketch is when Sir Lancelot gets carried away and starts killing everyone in Holy Grail. Monty Python were just the best

"Come back here and I'll bite your ankles off" Still lol everytime I see that scene...
I mentioned Papillon earlier and had no response from it.
I have always rated it the best ever escape film and the story line is immense. Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen. The book also is a great read.
Does anyone know the film?

Never seen it, but will have a look now that you've mentioned it. Along the lines of 'The great escape'?
Its set on an island that is a penal colony for French convicts. So is dated around the 1930s. So its escapism from a prison type film.
Like it! Will check it out!

This might be one for Worst Movies:
I am not suggesting anyone watch this, but someone told me today about a movie called 'The Human Centipede'. Apparently it's a cult classic. Won't go into the premise, but I can safely say it is the most disturbing idea for a movie I've heard of. Have felt sick all evening after just reading the Wikipedia page!

Can't believe I just read 9 pages without a single mention of I Am Legend. Definitely in my top 3 along with Anchorman and in 3rd spot is a tie between LOTR (x3), HP (x8), Lion King, Pitch Black, Tomorrow When the War Began and one which won't get mentioned by anyone else, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Also that reminds me, anything with Jim Carrey in it ;)
haha mighty ducks loved that series since it came out actually made me want to play grass hockey for 5 years in my teens lol and yeah moneyball is good

Well they are turning my favourite book series in to a movie, which is being released in December. The books I'm talking about as naste will know since I have mentioned it a couple of times on here are the Lee Child books about an ex military cop Jack Reacher who wanders around the US and always seems to find trouble. Anyway in the books he is described as 6'5" (196cm) and weighing between 210-250 pounds (100-115kg), so basically just a huge bloke, with BLONDE hair.
So who have they gone and cast as Jack Reacher in the movie? Well they have cast Tom "flowering midget" Cruise. Needless to say everyone who reads the books are not happy about this at all as he does not in any way resemble the Reacher in the books!
Anyway to cut a long story short I doubt that this is going to become one of my favourite movies >:(
