In no particular order

Shutter Island
Beyond A Reasonable Doubt
The Interrupters/Project Nim

I like stuff that has a lasting impact or that just completely blows your mind...Shutter Island was a great book and I thought the movie adaptation was absolutely brilliant even though a couple of things which weren't quite loyal to the book which drastically changed the end of the story. :P :)

2. Goblet of Fire (favourite book)
3. Deathly Hallows Part 2 (it ended it all)

Hot Fuzz has to be up there. Is such a great movie and Pegg and Frost always make a great combination. But the best part of the movie comes closer to the end when the conspiracy is uncovered and they start killing everyone. :D

Well Ive had a good think and I do go over the past 40 years and my first and foremost has been my favourite all my life

Papillon  - Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQeen a classic story and book. This is the ultimate escape movie.
Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels - briliant plot
Avatar - Well it was just mind blowing

I'm sure I will think of some more but if you ask this is it off the top.

And again Spinners, you've come up with a classic comedy that I forgot...

Their conversation about Maple Syrup gets to tears.

And:
'We lost a lot of good men out there...'
'Playing for the yankees?'
'Ahh... Through trades.. and, unruley fans... I don't wanna talk about it'

Exactly, it was an incredible movie experience that's why its up there. Also I'm the guy that doesn't like animated or futuristic films so why would I rate Avatar.

Avatar wasn't as good as other rate, but it is the number one box office grossing film by over 600 million and it currently sits at about 2.7 billion dollars.

So you might not rate, but the rest of the world does.

that's a crap theory people going to see it does not mean they thought it was good or put it amongst the best movies they have ever seen they got pulled in by the publicity and the wow factor it has which distracts you from how shower the movie really is

yeah and look at Toy Story 3, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight

i could go on and but these all had lower grossing then Avatar but still get better ratings which again proves my point highest grossing movie does not mean everybody liked it

Well it goes on the year it was realised. A lot of the good movies like Goodfellas etc were made years ago when the grossing was low. All of the most recent movies are the highest prossing except Titanic really, just props how big that movie is. If it was made this year it would probably hit 5 billion haha.

It doesn't make a difference if you go by all time grossing or year by year grossing you get the same results.....

No I said if the old classic highest rated movies were brought out like now, they would get a way greater grossing than they did because the grossing 10+ years ago was well below the current grossing.

Its set on an island that is a penal colony for French convicts. So is dated around the 1930s. So its escapism from a prison type film.

I am not suggesting anyone watch this, but someone told me today about a movie called 'The Human Centipede'. Apparently it's a cult classic. Can't believe I just read 9 pages without a single mention of I Am Legend. Definitely in my top 3 along with Anchorman and in 3rd spot is a tie between LOTR (x3), HP (x8), Lion King, Pitch Black, Tomorrow When the War Began and one which won't get mentioned by anyone else, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Also that reminds me, anything with Jim Carrey in it ;)

10 pages of favourite movies (and unless ive overlooked it) NO mention of "Pulp Fiction"  , whats wrong with you people?
  Also what about "Jaws"?
Theres a B/W 50's movie called "A night to remember" its Titanic without the crappy love story added. (its on youtube and worth a look).
Apocalypse Now
The Warriors
Dawn of the Dead(2004 remake)
Life of Brian
No country for old men
American beauty
Lifeboat(Hitchcock movie)
Team America
...I could go on... so i will
Lord of the rings trilogy
Matrix(first one only)
Easy Rider
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Predator(purely for mindless Arnie action)
Die Hard
Halloween
star Wars/Empire strikes back(the rest of the series doesnt deserve mentioning)
Meet the parents
Dead Man

I mentioned Papillon earlier and had no response from it.

I have always rated it the best ever escape film and the story line is immense. Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen. The book also is a great read.
Does anyone know the film?

Downloading now, Cheers

will be hard for it to beat "The Great Escape" though
Its better

just watched it and really enjoyed  highly recommend it to anyone else just keep in mind it was made in 1973 lol

Well they are turning my favourite book series in to a movie, which is being released in December. The books I'm talking about as naste will know since I have mentioned it a couple of times on here are the Lee Child books about an ex military cop Jack Reacher who wanders around the US and always seems to find trouble. Anyway in the books he is described as 6'5" (196cm) and weighing between 210-250 pounds (100-115kg), so basically just a huge bloke, with BLONDE hair.

So who have they gone and cast as Jack Reacher in the movie? Well they have cast Tom "flowering midget" Cruise. Needless to say everyone who reads the books are not happy about this at all as he does not in any way resemble the Reacher in the books!

Anyway to cut a long story short I doubt that this is going to become one of my favourite movies >:(

Was talking to a bloke from work about our favourite films and I told him that mine was Papillon. Got home and sat through the missus bullshower shows and about 11 she went to bed and started scroling to watch something, and on Fox Classics at 11 was Pappillon!!! It was just uncanny.......
