:o 2 things now need to happen.
1. New Runner for Elxam
2. New Runner for his WXV team
Anyone who has interest in ossie's team at the current time or any of these roles, post your interest. I will put myself up for ossie's team as I really want to be in the WXV.
I'd think it would be worth giving it a week or so, just to know whether it is for real. Purp is his brother I think, so maybe make contact with him to see what the go is...

Maybe. This has stuffed everything up though. We'd probably need 2/3 runners of WXV to get the work like he did done.
If need be I can help with running it.
We need to stay composed here.
We shouldn't replace him as coach of Seoul or WXV Admin for the time being. Elxam is a ways away as well so don't need to worry about that.
I still think there's a chance Os will come back, and until we're certain he won't be returning it would be unfair on both him and his replacements to change everything so quickly.
I'm sure P77 will be able to shed some light on the situation later. Until then sit tight and Don't Panic.
Hopefully he comes back... Wasn't meaning to disrespect him & Ossie if I did I apologise :(
I just thought there was a full moon last night :o Guess not! Very strange indeed, hope he has time to think, otherwise it is a huge loss!
What happened Boomz? Was there an argument or something?
Torps don't jump the gun. I think Ossie just needs some time away.
he told me last night he might just Admin and leave his team.

I don't know, but that's what he told me last night.

yeah. He deleted his account around 2 and a half hours ago.
Agree - Let it just settle down at the moment and see what happens. As we all know Oss was getting a little short over the last couple days and frustrations have probably boiled over.
We need to respect this and wait for confirmation from Ossie on what his intentions are.
Unless you are into administration you probably have no idea how much Oss has to do behind the scenes for all the information he provides here for the World 15's and Exlam. I do not know how he finds the time to do all he does and for this reason can understand why he does not come on chat. I for one am very appreciative of the work done for these competitions.
I am still not sure whether he has deleted his account or it is a glitch as we were finalising a trade this morning via PM and he did not mention anything.
So basically what I am saying is be patient and see what the outcome is. It is not as if we have to decisions made now apart from World trades but next lot not due till Sunday Night.
IF worst comes to worst, we will appoint 3 people to Administrate the Worlds, with one of us putting through the trade voting each week. Best to keep this happening so worlds doesn't die. We could then get the stats from Ossie or Purps.
But for now, best to stay calm and respect Ossie enough to give him ample time to come back. (1-2 months).
Until then we can fill in the role of admin. After all this whole competition was Ossies idea and the amount of time he has put into it would shock everyone.
Right guys, here is the go
Had a big chat with ossie last night, and since we have been living in different states for quite some time, that is the last time I have heard from him. What he told me, was that all he was doing was resigning from the Seoul Magpies, and still being the stats man for the comp. I am close to certain he will be just this (as he and I are apparently very alike) because we both LOVE doing the stats thing. He was also very intent of running the competition still, which he still has every right to, so he can stop these terrible trades from happening and effectively ruining the competition, which, lets face it, 17 coaches, maybe 14 coaches already have no chance for next year, meaning there is no competition hence no fun. I mean come on, who is going to beat Maca if all his trades go through? I told him to sleep on his decision to resign, which he appears to have done, and he has woke up and actually resigned from the forum........ as his brother, I have grown up with his moods, and there are times like this where he does go a little far, but rest assured everyone, HE WILL BE BACK. He loves this forum too much, he was the one that convinced me to join it, and I have no doubt whatsoever that he will be back. In fact, if I managed to convince him to stay for another fortnight, the thought of resigning would never occur to him. He is just a little flustered is all.
I will make this official though: HE WILL NO LONGER BE THE COACH OF THE SEOUL MAGPIES, so this is officially up for vote for the WXV community.
If you have any questions, or if there is anything I haven't covered or would like me to ask him, just PM me or let me know somehow
So it's my fault he has lost his desire to coach? :(
Hopefully he'll be back for elxam. :)
Can I put my hand up to coach the Maggies?
Ask Colliwobblers, I am very commited!
I'm putting my hand up for this. I am supremely committed and will consider all offers given to me. :)

BB has been fine with Beijing, much better than you with the Llamas.
Thanks for the update Purple and I feel sorry that Ossie has had to take this course. As I work as an analyst I know how much time Oss would put into to Forum and his statitics and I appreciate very much.
Based on your information we now have to find a coach of the Seoul Magpies.
Seeing you are from the same cloth and genes as Ossie can I offer this proposal as to how to find the new coach. Similar to what happened when I took over the Royals. Ther are also a number of good coaches out there who could take over this team including some of the assistant coaches.
1. Invite all coaches interested in coaching to submit an expressiion of interest in this thread stating why they should be the coach and what would they do to the Seoul Team. This required by Saturday,
2. Saturday Night you (or another coach) send out PM to all coaches with the EOI's requesting vote on who to take over the team with voting to be concluded by Sunday evening. This timetable will have a new coach in place ready for Monday voting.
3. If Ossie needs more time then we postpone next week trading. It is not as if it is urgent with the amount of time we have left.
Just an idea to start the ball rolling. Feel free to comment.

Personally I think we should do this. Everyone who wants to be a coach register your interest. The other 16 WXV coaches will vote their 1st & 2nd preferences. when all voting is done we tally up scores. The person who has the most votes will get to choose between Seoul or Moscow. Whichever they choose the person who was 2nd get's the choice of the other team. If they say no to the other team, the person who was 3rd get's the option for the team the 2nd person declined and it goes like that BUT we should wait 24 or 48 hours to see if meow comes back. If not after that time then gotta get rid of him. It's not fair to WXV to keep going round in circles and waiting for him to come back.
I will also throw my hat into the ring for a senior coaching gig in this comp, has an application process been finalized?
To be honest a big ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) @ all of you who are waaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaa only 2-3 teams (Nails, Maca, CF) will be competitive this year, waaaaaaaaaa, wwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Do you not remember AFL beyon 2012? 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001...
There was only ever really 2-3 teams in contention for the Grand Final, which is what Worlds might be like this year coming up. However in past years it has always been 2-3 teams in real contention. So it's not really a big deal. In a couple years when all these "young" teams grow up it'll be crazy competitive....
So it's a couple years of normal AFL worlds for a bunch of years of 2012 AFL Worlds.
Get over it.
You dickhead Nails.
Whoever gets Moscow shouldn't change the team one bit. Once the Monfries trade gets confirmed then it is good to go in 2013. But it won't be my team so I guess I can't say what to do with it.

I agree nails although I reckon any team inside last year's top 8 can beat the other on their day. It would only take a bad captaincy score and underpar score from some of their guns.
And all these coaches who are already heads of teams, flower off imo ::)
Coaches like Phasir (who's a very dedicated Asians assistant) should get a shot at the job first imo. You don't need multiple teams, give coaches who don't have a team yet a run at it.

I'm keen to put my hand up also, but I think the current WXV coaches need to put their heads together, without outsiders input, to see how things will be managed going forward.
While having multiple people running the comp disperses the work somewhat, there is a major advantage in having a single person in charge - primarily that someone has the definitive word on arising issues. Os did a magnificent job of this and it will not be easy to get things working anywhere near how well they have in the past.
I'd wait until all current coaches have had a chance to see the news, then get C4, Purps or someone central within the WXV to get a consensus from them all, then invite applications for the vacant roles.
Personally it just feels like dancing on their graves doing it like this...

Did you see meow when he first joined the forum? There's a good chance he's stirring the pot, or perhaps bitter about Ossie leaving. I'm confident he'll be back. I hope he is at least, he's a jet.
As for people already putting their hands up, got to say it's not appropriate in my opinion. For one Meow and Os only split earlier today...We know ossie won't be returning to his team but meow may well return.
Regardless, this is definitely not the thread to be doing it.

Last I checked I didn't treat either of them differently, in fact FS and I have had quite a few good conversations and I think he's definitely underrated as a coach.
But that's an entirely different matter.
I'd imagine if PB came back you'd be happy to co-coach with him again Nails, considering not long after he left you were asking him to come back and do just that.
People tried to take his teams but obviously you stopped them and took over yourself.
Nonetheless this is a very different situation.
The opportunity will come for those eager to get positions, but now isn't the time and I think most would agree. As somebody pointed out 2 coaches leaving in an eight hour period is extremely rare, and considering this was completely unprecedented and Os isn't here to guide us through the fog we'll have to take a few days to sit back and figure out what our plan is.
Can I just ask everyone to just chill for a while.
They coaches remaining in the worlds will have some discussions as to what is the best way forward and will advise in due course.
This is not the time for arguments with one another we need to respect Oss for what he has done for this competition.

Perfectly put!

Its off season guys just give oss time.
Nails I'd like an apology when the Cobras beat you next season :P
I would be happy to be an outsider to vote someone in. Having a Worlds team would be nice, but already having 3 teams, 4 teams would be too much. :)
wow i haven't been on much in the last week i'm sick and the damn antibiotics aint doing jack just seem to be getting worse
but the point being
i come on and see this
Ossman :'(
well i reckon this should happen
chill out let him cool down and come back and discuss from there is he stills doesn't want to coach his team then i reckon he should get to pick a few names he wouldn't mind taking over for him
(BTW this is not me putting my hand up in any way or form simply saying)
either way there's only one sentence to some this up
Ossie come back we miss you!!!!!!!!!
I've read most of the thread posts and my opinion seems to be the same as others.
New Action Plan:
Freeze trading.
Freeze new coach selections.
Orr in other words, freeze everything for the next week or so. Give ossie sometime, and if he isn't back by then, then we as the community will act.
Agree with Q and Ringo and very little else I have read..... :)
Worlds isn't my thing or my place, i have nothing at all to do with worlds apart from offering fisher the odd piece of advice he dutifly ignores :) but i stepped down from my assistant coach role for his team before i started the Asians competition so realy i have no place here as i have zero involvement in the competition,
but I rate Os and thought i would follow the discussions concerning him around the forum.
I believe P77 made it all CRYSTAL clear however.
Os will calm down, he will be back he will be his usual awesome self, run Worlds, Run elxam most likely and be his good old self...
But he was also very clear he WILL NOT coach his WXVs team.
I see no reason to delay in replacing coaches who quit and get on with the show. maybe make the appointments tentative for a couple of weeks incase these guys do return, or maybe as others suggest take applications but don't appoint the new coaches for 14 days....
Me I think Os departing is a huge loss, but quietly optimistic he will return in some form based on P77's words. And hope I am right. Hope I see him soon, he has been somewhat of a mentor to me around FF, I bet I am much older and maybe even wiser :) but I looked up to Os around here as I am sure most of us did. Respect.
Who cares about replacing teams at this stage!!
Ossie was one if not the most valuable member of this forum
Really hope he comes back :(

Hi all,
First of all, an apology - wasn't the best thing to just delete my account with little/no warning. You guys deserved better than that. Particularly to bomberboy, I overreacted and sorry to have offended you. Hope you continue to coach.
I'm still on an extended break I think, but if you'd still have me would be happy to admin the comp. As long as somebody keeps track of all the trades, I'll update the lists, etc in a few weeks.
I'm too close to the Seoul Magpies, and to be honest the kind of trades that are going around are the kind of trades that I'm not willing to do. My original idea for this game (and nobody was obliged to follow this) was to hold onto your players for years, seeing them develop into one-club players, so that one player would be synonimous with the club.
Yes, I traded out Griffen and Steven as major trades - but received solid positional players in return. I have had some incredible offers for Deledio, Dangerfield, Gibbs, etc but those were players I wanted to keep as the core of my team. Unfortunately, this kind of 'fantasy loyalty' basically guarantees limited success when other teams are changing half there list. I wasn't willing to do this, so clearly wasn't the best coach for my Magpies. I hope the new coach does well, and not that he needs it, can do whatever he wants with it.
Also, I didn't delete my account just for World XVs, it was a whole mess of things. You won't see me around too much this next month or so, but the world shouldn't stop because of my issues lol.
Cheers for the people who contacted me personally :) Convinced me to register again much earlier than I thought.
Oz
Thanks oss. Thank you also for the detailed explanation and I can understand the decision you have made. It is hard to keep a team strategy going when the majority of teams are going in different directions and if that is different to your goals.
I was not involved in the initial set up of worlds and I believe I speak for the majority of coaches when I say we are happy for you to administer the competition. You deserve it for the work you have put in to it.
Purple and I have been continuing to record trades in the thread following on from yours so will be easy for you to update. Will continue to do this for you until you return. (Holz arranged for Purple to be able to edit thread,)
Enjoy the break and recharge the batteries in preparation for a much better 2013 SC wise

also great to see you are back and about
take care of things you need to and hopefully see you about a bit in a month or so
until then make take care and look after yourself and know we will be looking forward to when u do come back in any shape or form (i.e even if u didn't want to be administrator or anything or run nothing we still would love to have you around your a big part of what is great about this forum and we all love having you here :) )
Cheers Os.
Thanks for the explaination. It is very easy to make spontaneous decisions like the one you did. Sometimes we're irrational about certain things, and therefore overreact, but eventually you always make the right decision in the end.
Use the time wisely and re-charge the batteries. We all need to take time out occasionally, plus we need to focus on other important things in our lives. It is easy to get caught up on forums like this, etc when there is a whole other world out there to deal with as well.
We'll see when you get back nice and refreshed ;)
Thanks Os, great to see you back online.
Rest up mate, take some time away and re-charge for next year. You have done an awful lot for us this year and for that i thank you. At times i think we expect too much from you. Enjoy your time away and dont worry about us

I was going to stick my hand up for a WXV team but Nails' rant has scared me. (everything he said is 100% right though)
Instead, I will volunteer for an assistants role somewhere!
Anyone that wants me, shoot me a PM and we can talk :)
K, thanks :)

Maybe a trade cap would be a good idea next pre-season? 15 trades or something.
When you guys say cap. Do you mean total trades or total list changes? Huge differences.
I would like a rule that says you can't trade out your club champion of that year either...
But just suggestions.
Good to have you back Oss, I think we were all pretty scared there for a while :-[

Valid point, but a one off case... It would help with Ossie's (and my) opinion of wanting more one-club-players...
I have pretty clear intentions to make JPK, Cotchin and Selwood one club players (if you only count clubs that they've played a game for that is)... Just ask Holz about my want to keep Cotchin; he's been trying this whole trade period :P
Well if you want to be technical, Cotchin was initially at another club ;D and you got in an absolute steal of a trade...
Welcome Back Oss, good to have you back :)
QuoteMy original idea for this game (and nobody was obliged to follow this) was to hold onto your players for years, seeing them develop into one-club players, so that one player would be synonimous with the club.
Whilst I like that idea in theory... It'd result in a lot of clubs having to accept mediocrity and never challenge for a grand final IMO. Resulting in it being less enjoyable and in a sense pointless. What do you do if you're mid-tier... you either have to trade in a lot of quality players or just accept finishing top 10-6 for 5 years straight...
And as a new coach coming in... When you have a team with 10+ Port players... you need to fix that ASAP lol
what about a nomination list? You have to nominate like 5 players in your team that can't be traded, or pinched by expansion clubs (Are you guys doing expansion clubs?) for the next 3 years or something...
Welcome back Os :)
Welcome back oss.
Agree with plenty of your sentiments, Id like to keep the nucleus of my teams together I drafted them so I have faith in them.

Welcome Back Os, sent you a PM now, since you snuck off without me saying Goodbye, I took the chance now to PM you.
You're a legend end of story. will be good to have you around, like it has always been, and take your sweet time and get relaxed and happy :)
I would not enjoy, WXVs to be honest, it's more like a trade game than a list management game.
Not knocking it but I set up AXVs the way I/We did for a reason. As long as everyone in WXVs enjoys it that is all that matters, just saying I can see where your frustration has come from as clear as I can see my own hand, before all my cans ;)
I think you'll be a great administrator and believe you would also have the support of everyone to make subtle or not so subtle changes to make sure your creation, not only gets back to what you intended it to be, but more importantly ensure it provides great joy for all the FF Members involved in it.
anyway see you when I see you, always good to have a sounding board for when I feel like stomping my foot as I am want to do from time to time as you well know :)

Come back in 2-3 seasons when there are half a dozen teams stuck down the bottom of the ladder, with no way to get out because lets face it the draft is a lucky dip. :-X
Each to their own I suppose.
Great to see you back os.
Always saw this as a trade game though as it's based off AFFL which is a trade game...Albeit there were a few players (Birchall, Greene, Bennell, Gaff etc.) that I just wouldn't entertain reasonable offers. Have ultimately turned down a lot of great offers for those guys.

Agree with you here Sid - Speaking from experience trying to re-build the team I had inherited has been a bit frustrating in trying to get good players off other coaches but not having a lot to offer. Have had some successes but quite a few knock backs as there are certain players that are off limits if my team is to be competitive.
People would say I'm one of these people guilty of over trading.
But I still have my premiership stars :)
Goddard, Gilbert, Ebert, Hodge, Bartel, McLean, Sandilands, Maric, Riewoldt, Lewis, Waite.
I've only had Chapman, Howlett, Foley and Burgoyne depart the club from my best team traded on.
Lol Gilbert
I don't see a joke.

That's another thing I could bring to your WXV teams if i was made assistant coach. A little bit of quick wit and humour here and there :D
I got this when i googled "whatlez in themirror"
Traded a few of my high picks but still plan to make Shuey, Jack, Selwood etc one club players :-X
Well I got this. Might be inappropiate...
And another one, but Angelfire has taken the photo away :(
EDIT: Indeed it was.
Goddard, Maric and Sandi will definitely be one club players.
