Subject title says it all. Don't get why we always choke in the big games and cant hold a flowering lead
Terrible so cut
Sydney deserved it . good season by us boys though
We will be back next year Hawkers dont worry
3rd in 2011, 2nd in 2012 and 1st in 2013
i agree with you but what can be done about it now?
nothing can be done about it thats the shower thing.. to promise so much and then lose it like that.. We hit the front in the final quarter, were 2 goals up with a chance to kick another. We had home ground and home crowd advantage in the biggest game of the year and let it slip its disgraceful

Very true mate
there was mass talk we couldnt win the close ones after last years prelim, both cats game and the weagles game
but we quashed it after beating sydney, and more after Adelaide but sigh dunno how they flower we lost, we let them back after we dominated
Because the swans were better for pretty much most of the game.
I hate to comment on a game i didn't acually watch but it seemed like you got carried by Franklin and Sewell the entire game in comparison to the swans players who all contriubuted at different times (some more than others)

Yeah spot on that's what I thought watching it. Sam Mitchell came good in patches but for a player of his calibre he's underperformed in 2 grand finals now. Rioli, Birchall, Roughead were all well-held.
They'll bounce back next year don't worry about that! But for now... GO SWANS!!!!! 8) ;D :D :-*

The AFL great also noted a statistical quirk that of the 11 occasions a non-Victorian club has faced a Victorian club in a Grand Final, the visitors have now won eight.
non-vics have more to prove.
Roughhead is a shower player. Such a choker.
Not having a go (Hawks clearly better than Pies this year), but you have to question the Hawk's mental resolve. The Pies prelim loss last year, the constant losses to Geelong, the Adelaide game was very lucky and now this game?
Compare it with Geelong's or Collingwood's record in close games, it doesn't stand up.
Teams outside the little v have won 11 of 14 Premierships they've played in ;D
So...
91: Hawks defeat Eagles
92: Eagles defeat Cats
94: Eagles defeat Cats
96: Roos defeat Swans
97: Crows defeat Saints
98: Crows defeat Roos
01: Lions defeat Bombers
02: Lions defeat Magpies
03: Lions defeat Magpies
07: Cats defeat Power
12: Swans defeat Hawks
Yep, 3 from 11 :/
It's quite an incredible statistic really, with the travel and home advantage thing

It just proves that good teams can win anywhere regardless of the location and that travel isn't as big a deal as some make it out to be.
Some people are way off the mark with there comments.
It was a 50/50 game, Hawthorn lost by 10 points its not like they were blown away. It could have gone either way.
When hawthorn lost to the pies in the prelim last year people are quick to forget that it would have been an upset for the hawks to win that, collongwood were the best side all year and only lost to geelong.
The non victiorian vs victorian side thing is just rubbish. There is no home ground advantage on grand final day its a 50/50 game played infront of baisically an even amount of supporters and a stat like non victorian clubs winning 8 out of 11 is completly irrelevant.
Hawthorn are a more than capable side they were just beaten on the day, there had to be a winner and a loser

its a little like the cats in 2008
I just wonder if we had the extra day and played on Friday like we should have if we could have ran out game better. 2 goals up early in the last, maybe it could have been different. Extremely disappointed, too many underperformers. Hodge looked like he missed too many weeks, Birch/Suck were pretty much shut down, roughead, young, cyril poor and buddy's kicking awful. In the end it was inaccuracy that hurt us most. I thought Bruest and Schoenmakers were two shining lights (and obviously Sewell was outstanding all day). They are two young kids and showed promise by playing well (Bruest in particular) on the most intense stage. We look forward to next year.
Serious questions, where will Alistair Clarkson need to finish to keep his job next year?
I think he should he keep his job regardless, but reckon the Hawk faithful will call for his head if they finish less than 4th, or even miss out on the Granny.
We have faith

I'm sure that's what they said to Brett Ratten
