Title: 2013 SuperCoach Player Profile: Scott Selwood
Post by: Phasir on September 27, 2012, 01:40:24 PM
Scott "Scooter" Selwood

Height - 186cm
Weight - 86kg
DOB - 27-03-1990
AFL Seasons Completed - 5
AFL Matches - 92

2011
Team Position - Primarily The #1 Tagger.

Average - 82

Games - 22 H/A, 3 Finals.

Comments - Scoring would suffer due to a more negating role in the team, but did show potential that the coaching staff recognised.  Was also the tacklemachine of the competition in 2011, setting the highest average due to his fierce tagging role that included the scalps of Judd, Ablett Jr. & many others.  Due to his consistency Scott played every match, including both finals.

2012
Team Position - Primarily an On-Baller, but did play several tagging roles throughout the season.

Average - 104

Games - 22 H/A, 2 Finals.

Comments - Graduated from the full-time run-with role that had previously hindered his scoring & he came out firing at the start of the year with a dominant run (104, 155, 145, 94, 111, 139) that saw a few unrealistic Brownlow comparisons with his much more accomplished brother, it also saw him as one of the most traded in players after the first few rounds.  His scoring did taper off though, with the coaching staff deciding to return him partially to his negating role during the run towards the business end of the season which saw the West Coast have a hard run with fellow premiership rivals Hawthorn, Sydney, Collingwood, Fremantle, Geelong & Adelaide.

2013
Phasir's Predicted Average - 115

Verdict - Unfortunately a no this year, I would love to start with the guy, but his price will be too awkward this year.  Hopefully 2014/15 will see him as a verified midfield premium because he's certainly capable of it in an up and coming team.

Love scooter but unfortunatly cant fit in a guy that does tagging roles every other week, too risky.
Would dominate if he was left to run free like those early season scores showed

Now that is how you do profiles! Wowee. Top work Phas. Love the DP as well, quality song.

Scooter will probably miss out in '13, too many mids and not enough spots this year. :-\

If I knew his tagging days were over I'd be tempted, but we can't be sure of that so, no.

Usually becomes a tagger against the tougher teams

Is worth a look at but Priddis seemed to be the one to get half way through this year and with mid pricers the way to go next year, he will be a pass for me

any Eagles supporters know if McGinnity is progressing into the #1 tagger?

I'm thinking that's what'll happen once LeCras comes back in next year.. it'd be hard to see McGinnity staying in the Forward-Line if there's Kennedy, Darling, Hill, LeCras, Nicoski, Lynch already there.. if he can improve his tank a bit more this year he'll probably move permanently into the mids to be the #1 tagger leaving Embley, Kerr, Priddis, Rosa, Shuey, Scooter & Gaff as the attacking mids

Anyone else think this is possible?  Any word out of the camp on changing roles?

I'm going to back him in this yr to match it with Joel. West coast Traded in a pies mid to free him up and think they will make full use of his much improved fitness (2nd in tt).

Have read numerous times over the yrs that many in the know consider him the most talented out of all his brothers, although that is yet to be seen.

This is the yr imo so have him in M4

I think that's it, if as reported he is released (and why wouldn't he  ??? ) has to then be a candidate

Well he  was tagging to much in 2012 I believe? Wellingham is said to maybe taking this role

Scooter would be a decent ball winner if allowed, as good or better than his bro
