Price: $193,300 (Fan Planner)
2012 Games: 2

Age: 25
Position: Def (might get Def/Fwd but FanPlanner doesn't have that)
Opinion
Cam Pedersen is a real smokie at this stage, I hadn't even considered him until I saw his price on Fan Planner...a player of his quality for under 200k caught my attention. He had a good debut season in 2011, averaging almost 85 and being in most teams, but was unlucky this year. He wasn't out of the side due to injury though, that's the part that worries me. He was consistently playing really well for Werribee in the VFL and always getting in the best players, but just couldn't break through to the AFL due to North's lack of injuries and our three pronged forward line (Petrie, Tarrant, Hansen) working so well. Brad Scott consistently said in press conferences that he should be playing AFL footy, he just couldn't squeeze him into the team with everything clicking for North. The handy thing about Pedo is that he can play key forward, key defender or even in the ruck (who remembers his first game when he went solo and matched Cox?)
2013 Vedict
At the moment he's one to watch, as when he's in the team he can average very well for someone of that price. Will be watching the NAB Cup with interest.
Nope, with his job security he'll become a liability.
Might not even be on a list next year let alone in my team.
Dont like his JS, pass.
Worth a look if he goes to Melbourne
If I was North I would be playing him ahead of Hansen and Tarrant.
Pass though, awkward price and poor JS

Yeah, if the season went for a couple more weeks this would have happened but it was hard to break up the Petrie, Tarrant, Hansen combo when it was working so well. Brad Scott said all along that he judged them as a unit, not individually and they were frequently getting 8+ goals between them.
Pass.
is there any talk of him going to another club?
would be more keen on him if he was

jeez melbourne are chasing everyone
you'd have to consider getting him along with Staker for DPP if he gets a trade into a team like melbourne
only worth a look if he find another team, but still if he cant start for the Roos who can he start with

There losing a lot of players as well. Cook, Gysberts, Jurrah and Rivers all look like leaving
Pedersen won't be going to Collingwood if Quinten Lynch does, so he might go to the dees
One of my forgotten rookies of 2011 could be very handy.

It seems more and more likely that HMac may be heading to Geelong and we won't trade both HMac and Pedo that's for sure.

Hmac > Geelong has to put both he and Goldstein back in everyones ruck calculations surely

It'd definitely put Goldstein on my radar. Still not entirely sold on Pedo but definitely happy for him to prove me wrong this preseason.

With HMAC now leaving i think that Cam may have a spot in the Roos lineup and might be orth looking at to help out Goldy. That is unless Daw gets a game instead of him

Pedo is a fair way ahead of Daw at this stage.
If Pedersen does end up going to the Dees, then he is worth looking at.
Yeh will have a good look at him if he goes elsewhere. Absolutely dominated in the VFL last year but Scott just refused to play him. Could be a bit more to it I reckon.
Wasnt keen on him at the start, but probably worth a look depending on where he goes.
Definitely worth a look now at melbourne.
If he plays a full season and goes up to that 84 average, at 190k what a bargain.
Currently sitting in my side at D6, hoping for a 75+ average!

Well he did average 84 back in 2011!
CHk CHK, lock and load!!! ;)
In my team at D5 right now, locked in for me as much as any player can be at this stage. Should consistently get games at half back for melb, or maybe even half-forward with watts becoming a full time defender? Can mark, is mobile, would be hoping for an average of 80-85.
So apparently Pedersen has now got DPP as DEF/RUC

If anyone asked, this was going to be my source. I saw it first from Supercoach Paige and then figured one of the fantasy guys on Twitter probably published it too.
Im thinking of having him in the ruck with Luey, and then Coxy up forward for a bit of insurance. Just not completely sold on Cox at his age. :-\

I would think you want a ruck to score around 100 and a back 90. Think I'll play him as a back and have another premo ruck.
Yeah this guy is a lock for me :)
gotta love some of the dpps this year, even if Pedo is the only ruc/def
Pedersen is $278k now >:(
Still worth it though ;)
There goes my idea of a cheap ruck set-up. That price has me turned off...
currently D5, if he manages to avg 80-85 he might stay as D6 or trade up to a premo

Dont think ya can afford to have an 80 avg player in a finishing fwd or backline anymore with only 6 players.
The midfield has become the place for mid pricers and risks

Yeh gotta agree mate, your Back and Forward six are going to need to be as close to the Top 6 averages for 2013 as possible.

LOL. Not that im aware of 8)
if this guy can show he could pull out an 80 odd average again i'm on him.
could be for mine a pederson/leuy/rookie/r-f rookie setup to start it off in the ruck...
pederson could be a D7 via trading out a back, moving pederson down there and bringing in ruck premo mid season. doing the same with the rookie r-f to be able to manipulate cox or nicnat???
i don't know, its early days but i def see some value in having DPP in rucks, throw in a roughie as well and you should be covered in the ruck. rucks really peeved me off in 2012!! big fellas aren't that reliable unfortunately

Could pay off, Luey will be a gold mine if he stays fit, God willing as hes in mine aswell but id prefer to take the risk with Pederson in my backline tbh mate.
+1 On that, if you play Pedo, you play him back. 80 in the backs for his price is sweet.
Too much upside this year not to have R/F dpp.
Rucks score more than fwds so it's better to have as many (top scoring) rucks in your fwd line, with a switch hitter on your ruck bench.
Then have you're Maric, Goldy....(in the end), as your rucks as they should average more than your traditional fwds.
\
yea fair call there. 80 average down back is solid starting option for his price.
FWD and DEF lines are potentially going to be very similar next season.. is everyone going to be loading up down back and up forward to begin with and picking the underpriced guys in the midfield?? more than likely! then teams might end up bringing in similar mid premos due to price drops.
gee ppl can really get away with early mistakes next year anyway - 30 trades!!! absolutely ridiculous imo

Agree lots of R/F combinations. Issue for me Premo Ruck in forward line eg Ryder RoUghhead and rookie R/F but who Rowe or McBean seem best option
Starting him in defence as a lock and then when filling D6 will shift him to the ruck bench. Only going with two prems in def as players the same price and potential are better in the other lines IMO.
