Title: 2013 SuperCoach Player Profile: Travis Varcoe
Post by: Jroo on September 15, 2012, 11:59:13 AM
Travis Varcoe
Price: 190 700 (Fan planner)
2012 Games: 1
2012 Ave: 12
2011 Games: 21
2011 Ave: 71
Position: Mid/Fwd

Varcoe looks amazing value if he will be $190k next year! He can also be selected either in your midfield or forward so Varcoe should be a very popular pick. Varcoe made only one appearance in 2012 for a 12 point return and that is why he will be so cheap in 2013. Varcoe averaged 82 and 71 in 2010 and 11, so if he can have a full season he should improve from that. If Varcoe is fit and ready in round 1 he will be in my Supercoach team!

2013 Supercoach Point Average Prediction: 80-85

I'll probably pass. I think he will still be in and out of the team with injuries.

What about all the other value picks? Out of all of them he'd probably be near the bottom.

Not the worst option at his price, not that much more than a rookie...

Pass from me.
If he is to Avg 83 it will be his best season of his career.
Looking at his past avgs I think there will be cheaper rookie options that can score as well as him

Likely to be in my team if he has a good pre-season :)

Hard to say no, will have supreme JS barring injury... Could be the perfect F7 turn F8 this season...

At his starting price he only has to average 70+ to make a ton of cash and be upgrade which eventually you want to upgrade all players averaging less than 90 ideally anyway.

Think he will score more and more consistently than 90% of rookies and make us as much cash and faster. No brainer for me.

Disclaimer: Depending on preseason and nabcup form :)

locked. Not that much more than a first round rookie, but with better JS and scoring potential. Plays for a good team, can play mid, hungry after time off. Bargain.

Presuming $190,700 is somewhere near accurate and he plays rd 1, then why not ???
If he can ave in the 80's whilst his price rises, "pennies from heaven" :)

Yeh probably down the list of mid/under priced players. Will still have a good watch during the NAB.

Will be exciting to watch Varcoe running of half back and yes similair to Yarran. Was always considering Varcoe and if he's fit I will lock him in I reckon

Thought I would have him as a point of difference but he is starting to get noticed a bit in write ups.  Good price and if he has a sound pre season definite lock at the price.

Varcoe at half back + good NAB = lock.

If he stays fit, should average 75-80ish.

I'm going to play him in the mids as I don't really like any of the rookies that are F/C, so he is also handy for the DPP link.

In 2011 this bloke showed signs of being a very DT relevant.
Last year he could not get on the park.
At his price in 2012 he is a steal!Lets hope his injuries are behind him and he rips it up.
YES for me.

Should get a gig in a fair amount of teams. Would be better if he was 30-40k cheaper. But  8)

With Gray still on the comeback from injury in my team along with lecras as the best two forward cheap options at this point.

Gray is going to have no pre-season so I'd say that Varcoe is ahead of him just because of that at this point.
Probably won't play round 1 either. :-\

I worded it wrong, meant i have lecras and varcoe, because gray is not ready.

Ah reading that again looks like I've misinterpreted it.

Looks like the consensus is Gray out Varcoe in. ;)

Menzel, Mitchell, Crouch, Wines, Membrey, Jaksch and co...all cheaper and in my team atm... Varcoe isn't...but might be. I see him as a 60-90 pt player most weeks. He represents value and will make money but I'll only get him if I can afford him...I won't have him if his price stops me from getting a premium I want in R1. Pre-season and R1 teams will determine the make up of my team.
