Colin Sylvia - Melbourne Demons
Position: MID/FWD
Price: $360,300 (Fanplanner)
2011 Games: 19
2012 Games: 17
2011 Average: 90.6
2012 Average: 75.6
2012 Tons: 4
Summary: I rate Colin as one of the better players in the Demons side and indeed in the competition when at full flight (yes, that one time...). He is immensely under priced due to a delayed and interrupted start to the season in which he averaged a measly 33 points over his first 3 games! In the years prior to this Colin has gone 83 96, 96 and 91 last year so really should be ready for a big bounce back!
Verdict: IN!. Despite the other mid-priced options, I have found a place for Colin... Clearly he is a favourite of mine so completely understand if others don't rate him as highly!
Ele's prediction: Average of 93!
Wouldn't pick him in a million years, although it would scare the shower out of me to see him lining up against me.

Hahahaha just the response I was expecting :P
Injuries and inconsistency are driving me away from Sylvia sadly.
In for me too. Hit his straps by the middle of the season and after the bye averaged over 91. Will be severely underpriced, lock for me. I have had him in the past and he can be infuriatingly inconsistent. Is a real talent though, and hopefully noe he's matured a bit his worst won't be too bad.

Agree with everything here! Well done :)

Completely understandable mate. Definitely not alone :P
Would consider bringing him in as a final trade just to get inside my opponents head.
You are on fire with these write-ups LE! ;D
Sylvia just about a lock for me :o
His form after returning from his spine injury has made him significantly underpriced. Averaged 92 from RD 13 onwards...but will be priced at 75!

Hahaha love it. My mate did that once with Glass. Bought him in, chucked him the C as he was playing against his old man who sucked at DT!

add Varcoe and Knights as well.
Well we're likely to lose Beams, Sidey and Danger and a few more so if he keeps his DPP status then he might pick himself at that price.

I feel like this as well. Can't really say no :P
Too hot and cold and the brain fades dont help.
Not for me, was ok a couple of years ago but not anymore
he will probably miss 6+ games for one reason or another. pass
Like him at that price but I have been burned before. Can go big at times, but very inconsistent, and not really sure on how Neeld rates him. Might see how they use him in the NAB before deciding.

You'll need a strong constitution to handle the ups and down.

It sure is tempting... You'd be laughing if he pulled it all together for an entire season
An interesting read for anyone considering him:

It makes me want him more! Potential to average 95+ and should, after averaging 92 in his last 7 games last year

How do they call it the never again list, when they are endorsing picking him up!!
I just dont think I can bring myself to do it. But if he comes out in the NAB and fires, I am not sure I am strong enough to resist, will depend on how many other risky mid pricers I pick in front of him.
basically its hartlett or sylvia for me. Both huge risks but im willing to take a punt just cant work out who.
With the 20 odd extra trades you have licence to go for some more risks, though I would have locked Sylvia anyway even if we had the same amount of trades as last year.

Yeah, I had him in my team anyway, but with 44 trades, he is nearly a lock.
I'm convinced, has an easy run of fixtures rounds 4-9. Round 2 v Essendon and round 3 v WCE are risky prospects though. He could get isolated in the forward line seeing none of the ball. Sylvia's previous gun seasons have counted on an injury or two to Melbourne's midfield, correct? Last season he came home strong because Melbourne had an easy run home. But when Melbourne play the good teams, Sylvia often gets marked out of the game in the forward line as they get thrashed...
Two trades a week make a pick like Sylvia not as risky though. Just about locked for mine.
