Checking out the overall points per position, so basically the top 7 in fwds, mids & backs. As well as the top 4 rucks & top 10 overall for the year.
Are you surprised at any of these point getters? As in you wouldn't have expected them to be in the top 7 in overall points by seasons end.
Overall:
1. M.Boyd
2. G.Ablett
3. J.Watson
4. D.Beams
5. T.Cotchin
6. B.Deledio
7. D.Swan
8. S.Thompson
9. S.Tuck
10. J.Redden (Even with a showerhouse start he is still there, my man Redden) 8)
Top 7 Forwards:
1. D.Beams
2. P.Dangerfield
3. S.Sidebottom
4. S.Johnson
5. R.O'Keefe
6 M.Pavlich
7. P.Chapman
Top 6 Midfielders:
1. M.Boyd

Top 7 Defenders:
1. B.Deledio
2. H.Scotland

6. P.Hanley
7. M.Johnson
Top 4 Rucks:
1. D.Cox
2. I.Maric
3. S.Jacobs
4. J.Roughead
For some reason I had thought that Roughead had missed more games.
Mr conistant matty boyd. he wins the thing nearly every season.
Kinda surprised Matty Pav is in there for the forwards - to think I almost traded him out at the start of the season, had a such a shower start! ::)
I guess this shows the durability of some players. Blokes like Suckling & Hanley will be rethought now for next season :)

Shhhh keep Hanley on the down low ;)
Boyd is a trooper but i think the dogs are on the slide big time and he will struggle to improve his average next year
Surprised about Redden and Tuck.
The biggest surprises for me would be Sidey going well above even the most optimistic of expectations, Hanley being in the top 7 despite numerous terrible scores, Grimes actually getting through a whole season and fulfilling some of his potential.
And if you'd shown me those top 4 rucks at the start of the season I would have been ??? :o
I remember start of the season when I was tossing up between which half of the RED-ROCK combo to take....... Guess which one I chose :'(
Tuck has been THE pick of the year imo.
Beams ranked #1 for forwards, but #4 for mids as well. What a gun! Wish I started with him but glad I had him for the second half of the year.
Tuck is a surprise as well. As is the fact that Minson only missed out on being #4 ruckman by 18 points.
3 Tiges in the top ten, very nice!
Boyd's just been playing every game, and he deserves it for having the best durability!
Tucks been a big surprise too. Always knew he had the potential in him, but the coach never liked him...
Those last 3 defenders don't seem like they belong in the best backline.... :-\
Tucks a big surprise for me
Love Redden, had him last year (but I brought him in just before a 60 & 70 lol) but went with Rocky this year....
Would love to start with Redden next year but with so many gun MID's on offer...its gonna be hard to fit him in.
Had O'Keefe locked all pre season and then he went and got injured :P Still trading him in when he got back, but he missed a few games so it is pretty impressive!
Tuck, big surprise!
O'Keefe making the top 7 for overall points is a bit of shock when you think about it...
He's missed 1 game and has had 2 sub-affected scores of 16 & 60, yet he is still averaging 96 and is a top 7 FWD :o
GUN!

Dude you gotta fit him in.
Averaging like 7 points less than last season so will be slightly cheaper and can only get better.
Averaged the second most tackles last year I think & backed up with a 3rd placing this year. Like .2 behind Kelly for second again. 8) Hasn't missed a game since his debut either.
He is 21 right now & will only have JUST turned 22 next season. Crazy how good he is now. B & F in the bag for sure.
there's going to be so many dominant midfielders next year
Swan, Ablett, Beams, Lids, Cotchin, Watson, Redden
and then theres guys who have potential like Danger and Sidey
and guys that had an off year like Jelwood and Murphy
how do fit them all in :-\
Going with Swan, Cotchin, Watson and Beams as my midfield premos next year. All should improve their average with the exception of Swanny, don't see him repeating 133 but surely 125+.
The backline players are the biggest surprise. Grimes & Hanley stand out.
Durability is key

I like everything about Redden except for the fact that his highest score this year was a fairly modest 127. If he is ever going to be one of the top five DT midfielders I would have thought he would be getting a few 130+ scores per year by now, like his rather inconsistent mate Rocky. Still, as you said, he is only 21...

Yep, his ceiling is quite low and often dips under the ton...
BUT he should improve his consistency and ceiling as he gets older.
As a Crows supporter Maric was a surprise didnt expect the season he had.
Roughead coming back from an Achilles injury and claiming 4th on the ruck list
Grimes playing 21 games for the year, always had the ability but fragile
O'keefe bit of a surprise
Tuck was a surprise

Fair enough. But his had a few games where he was the only one to ton up for the Lions. Lions aren't a top team and what he is doing is great.
Like to point ou the was a top 5 mid last year and will be under priced next year.

can't believe he's only 21
Swan didn't get a 100+ average until his 22
Pendles was also 22
Cotchin 22
Redden averaged nearly 110 at 20... he is a genuine star.
If he played for a Melbourne club he would get more recognition. But sadly not. ::)
When he wins the B & F he should get more recognized. :P

Do you reckon redden will still be semi-unique next year?
I'm thinking I'd probably choose him over someone like murph next year...
Starting line up of Swan, Pendles, Cotch, Redden? 8)
