what's everyone planning to do with him? i have faith that he can turn things around a put up some big scores that's why i picked him. but is the loss of davis and the inclusion of clarke changing his role and effecting his scoring?
has looked very average so far and has dropped 39k :S
is it worth a trade? thoughts?
Looks to be coming good, scored 80 last week. When you picked him you knew it woild be a rollercoatser - 140s one week and 50s the next. Stick with him.
Not happy but staying with him still!
Sticking with him....his role will free up...just when he gets tagged is he useless. 1 in every 6-8 games

Unless he gets injured/suspended, he's a keeper. Doesn't matter how much money he loses. Don't trade him, you will regret it.

I agree, his plan is not to make money then sell, it is to score points. Yes he's been below par, but he'll come back :)
I agree, your premo players are keepers. You wouldn't trade ablett after a 50k drop because you know he'll come good. I do not put Shaw in Ablett's category, but i do believe he will come good as soon as Collingwood pull their fingers out. Shaw is one of those players who will play well when his team does... when collingwood turn from underwhelming to decent, I think Shaw will too
i was planning on keeping on him just wanted to see what others thought about him
cheers for the advise lads!

He showed a lot in a tough game last week. Did u see that mark and goal he took runninng forward and over that carlton player...brill determination.
He just needs a hair cut...get rid of the quiff Heater!
Yeah the rollercoaster looks like its on it's way up again, gotta enjoy the highs and ride out the lows ;)

Hasn't had many highs yet!
My personal opinion is that he has been under more pressure this year to be accountable, but now that balls down steele should slot into that C position and Shaw/Johnson/Clarke will share the wing duties between them. I reckon a quarter in the midfield for him should be 30-35, if he plays one or two quarters there his gonna start playing better games. I hate to say it considering I love Bally and i a bleed black and white, but Luke Ball's injury was really good for DT'ers, and collingwood haters. But the positive is Heater will be back in business
Stick with Shaw, things will change with team structure and he will fire up. I plan on getting him before the byes so im enjoying the slump in score. Keep the faith. ;)
Keep him, will come good...
With Johnson out & Leon gone & O'Brien having his hands full at the moment Coll. are lacking line breakers. Aswell as other injuries & not being able to apply the forward press effectively atm it may lead to Heater & Pendles both copping a tag. If I was coaching against Coll. I would flat out tag the pair of 'em. It would only leave Clarke, who might be DT relevant but is an average footballer at best & Swan to break the lines. Just my opinion.
other issues a lot bigger than him to worry about :-[
I've watched all 3 games so far, and yes, I have Heater in my DT. The thought has crossed my mind to trade him, but I've listened to the advice of those who know and am keeping him (for now).
As for Heater being tagged - who tagged him in the Richmond game? I'm not sure what game he was playing, but Heater spent the night running away from the play, loose man going nowhere, touching nothing.
In Friday's Loss To The Filth, not sure if Heath was playing on the backline, or if anyone was for that matter, but if he was, how did he happen to be in the forward pocket to take that mark? Would have like to see him on Betts, or Garlett, or flowering anybody!

He'll be a pretty good pick up for <400k in a couple of weeks. BE of 120 this week against port isnt out of the question though.

really not any worse than most of the whole pies team....not liking it, but in for the long haul with Shaw unless he does something STUPID again !!!
First backline upgrade for me, will come in my team in a few rounds, hope he doesn't rise too much. Looked much better last week DT wise.

+1. U know he will come good very soon so get him nice and cheap. If he turns out to b my 7th back then I reckon I'll b doing ok
if he is out for 2 thats the end of the line for me
options are
Reece Conca (two very very good scores and one sub affected score)
Beau Waters (has had a very easy fixture so far)
Andrew Carrazo (he will have some bad ones thru tagging)
Dyson Heppell (has been a bit down on last year)
Marty Clarke (will take shaws role, surely he is in red hot form)
at the moment im leaning towards clarke and conca
Latest on Heath Shaw is he's out for two weeks? do i hang on to him, or trade? if i don't trade somewhere in my backline this week i have a zero. What do people think?
Do you have cover(if so who)? How many trades have you used?
I'd take Waters or Carrazzo out of those. They're the only two I think will be in the top 7 come year's end.
ive used two
im not really fussed about trades
i only have minimal rookies on field so minimal trades needed there
back : bugg
mid: smith, magner, Greene
ruck: giles (keeper)
fwd : kennedy
so 5 trades there for upgrade/downgrade plu lets say i trade everyone on bench out at some point so that 13 trades used plus 2 already done so 15. Leaves me 9 to play around with injuries, upgrades, sideways trades ect
only have danger and hargrave as mid pricers and i reckon danger will be a keeper so lets say 8 trades for injury ect
rest of my team is premkium and keepers
I bet you'll find both Shaw and Daisy playing on Anzac day as their injuries are only supposedly "minor"
If you can cover with Ellis or Morris I would hold.
They are good for 65-75ish.
id rather cut my losses on shaw
i reckon marty clarke has taken his half back role and shaw is stuck tagging in back pocket
and pies are on decline reckon he might end up with below 80 av
conca is the go to man.
Link?
Edit: Nvm, just saw it on the AFL site
I think you are being a bit melodramatic there. Shaw did get 81 last week!
All the players you would be trading to are only going to average around 80-85ish anyway. Ellis will get you a 65-75, I think you should save the trade, it's only two weeks, this is what your bench players are for!
well he's out for 2 weeks now....
https://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/133534/default.aspx here is the link mate
I thinking if Fyfe has surgery Fyfe~ Stanley and Lake to Scotland/Carazzo and then leaving shaw on the bench for two weeks
Leaning toward a Fyfe trade to Cloke.
Will see the teams, but latest info isn't good.
Don't ask how many weeks he spent on my bench last year. :-[
I guess I can put up with two.
Now I know there are already about 4-5 of the same threads going. people seem to think that posting the same link and mentioning he is out will benefit us. I am not posting a thread like this, rather a post about whether he is worthy of keeping or trading.
Keep
- could easily average 95 if he gets back to his best
- plays for collingwood (even though they have seemed showerter so far) I still believe they are still top 3-6 side.
- so far listed as only 2 weeks
- lack of round 11 and 12 defenders to swap with (too many round 13 defenders may be a problem when trading)
Trade
- Might have to play a dud rookie or have no cover with players like lake/dempsey
- ellis (54), morris (53.5) may be your only cover. Averaging around 13 points less per game so far
- collingwood could be on the down (st kilda/riewoldt/montagna 2011)
- is a total d1ck head
- if you are ranked highish, no one in top 10 has him. probably not as prominent in top 1000 either meaning you could just slide down the rankings as your semi-pod is now useless
Anything else you can think of (trade options etc...) just comment below. I think this might be the last time ever for Shaw after saying it every year. The guy just can't do anything right.
Drummond in i'm thinking
I don't have him, but if you have decent cover I'd hold and think about ousting Fyfe if not named.
nah from what i just saw on fox sports news it dosen't look good for fyfe
Yeah I saw it as well it looks like he is definitely having surgery but they have to decide whether to do it now or later
Anyway I'm trading him regardless

As said, ellis and morris aren't really the best cover, especially for people ranked top 2000 odd. an average of 53/54 wouldn't cut it at the higher end. This ones a tricky one. Thinking fyfe might have to go first because that shoulder could pop out any time soon and require surgery. Shaw really knows how to flower peoples dream teams over.
flower him. I hate you, you flowering dickhead. You dropped in price and now you are out for a while. Trade.
Do you think it would be cheaper to relocate Arizona to Melbourne?
I'm trading him. I can't hold onto a prem for 2 weeks.... flower this.

liking the look of conca
yeah i don't think i can have lids, ellis morris and conca in the same team as well as cotchin and martin
He may only miss the Port game and still play Anzac Day against Essendon.
Could be playing tricks!
His price won't change, only the player you want to trade to may change?
seeing as i don't have fyfe i'll probably oust shaw for waters given my only bench cover is ellis, morris and smedts...

Yeah me two, but as said I have have Ellis, Morris and Lids.
I can get Carrots, but that makes 4 prem defenders....
thinking i may get carazzo
The ironic thing is, Shaw was meant to be my semi-unique premium player. I was thinking that not many top 1000 teams would take him as he was always a risk. Also annoying that I have chosen him over adcock and broughton, who have at least both shown something so far.
Get on he duff. I think he will be a solid pick ;)
Shaw was doing shower and now he's out for two weeks. So I'm probably going to get rid of him. The best choice who I can afford is Carrots, who is the rd 13 bye player. I already have God, lids and Birch :-* lol.
So that makes 4 prem rd 13 meaning 2 definite donuts. My question: Is it worth getting another Rd 13 player (since there the only good players) or get someone like Waters who has been going above average or the Duffman who didn't gain value which is good ;D.
Thoughts people. No poll, cause I don't believe in polls.

i'd say that's highly doubtful, they'd be wanting to make essendon worried he's coming back... the article clearly says two weeks, and knowing someone like shaw this injury could get drawn out for months!
Also, with shaw being the round 12 bye player i picked, there are no other replacements that tempt me from round 11/12. As I already have 3 round 13 premiums it would be suicide to bring in a rd 12 player (carazzo, scotland, suckling).
Any suggestions other than adcock and broughton?
Would it be ok to have Broughton and Duffman in the same team? Only thing i can really think of doing at the moment, don't trust Hurn to keep doing what he has
Waters if you don't already have him
Malceski
hmmm im in the same boat as you and was thinking waters.... however i can't really be flowered with the byes, if i can get someone that averages above what waters can get every week the donut will probs balance itself out over the course of the year... so for me its between waters, conca and carazzo at the moment...
Or Duffman. I like the fuzz.
my team stands at this do people think i should be trading? if i don't this week i have a zero
Defence- Goddard, Deledio, Shaw, Heppell, lake, morris, bugg, (ellis), (smedts)
Mid- Ablett, Boyd, Pendles, Cotchin, Magner, Greene, (conigilio), (shiel)
Rucks- Cox, giles, (redden), (stephenson)
Forwards- Franklin, S.Johnson, Fyfe, Martin, Dangerfield, D.Smith, Kennedy, (hall), (Kerridge)
I'm keen on stanley but thats only if fyfe is out, thoughts would be appreciated

C'mon mate, DT is not easy ::) this is all part of the fun and it's can only get worse before it gets better
Any thoughts on the cheaper defenders Dempster, Drummond etc . I also have the problem of if i bring in duffman, i have him and broughton
Step in Tommy Bugg. Surely he is just being rested and won't miss Anzac day??
Also Simpkin and Geary, I'm really clutching at straws here :o
4 would be 1 too many. I have 2 out in r13 and am hesitating to get a third. My options are suckers/birch, carrots, conca and duffield.
I think waters and duffield are better options than copping 2 donuts.
Step in Tommy Bugg.
You guys are so lucky. I reckon if diasy and shaw weren't injured, then swanny or pendles could have been rested to smash anzac day.
The only reason I picked Boyd over Pendles was I wasn't sure if he would get rested for round 4.
So i'm thinking Duffman now. Average of 81 with a 40 that was less than a half. Looks good to me 8)

No mid-pricers, they will only lead to disappointment
I wouldnt trade, as it could be just 1 week. I know reports state it is 2 weeks but 1 week is a long time in DT and Shaw could be right next week and another one of your players could go down this week.
Dont think short term, its only round 4. He'll be back at round 6 at the worst which means still plenty of footy to play.
I think you guys are forgetting Anzac day is Wednesday so its already less then a week
I'm keeping him. Probably just being rested for Anzac day.
This is an overreaction. He is only being rested. Relax dudes 8)
Shaw has pissed me off for 3 rounds now.. Now this, goodbye Shaw, hello Deledio..
Not sure. More help please :D and yes he's out no matter what.
Can't help you - I'm not trading him!
I'm not trading him either. Adcock maybe? If you're prepared for the rollercoastee ride :P
Shaw and fyfe out for duffield and robinson for me. Good excuse as any to dump shaw, and re-add him to my never again list. Hopefully I stick to it this time!
Decided that i have to trade the former rollercoaster, that im now calling a "TRAINWRECK" out and im leading towards Waters cause There arent many viabale options. I consider Waters a potenial Keeper so its sitting ok with me, what are you doing with the "TRAINWRECK" that is Heath Shaw.

I am currently preparing to put some spring rolls in the oven. They are frozen so im putting them in the microwave first... Will they turn out ok or soggy?
Shaw is like my spring roll. He is probably going to be good, but there is risk involved.
If it turns out they are soggy I will be trading them for a crispy packet of chips thank you very much.
So is Shaw now a soggy spring roll? I think so for now. I will be trading him for something that I didnt initially want but now have little option.

From my experience with pies, your spring rolls should be fine. It's hit and miss with Shaw but he's going out for me.
If i hold him my backs would look like this: Goddard Lids Dempsey Bugg Mohr Morris Ellis Bench: Smedts Shaw
Should I trade? Don't want to trade him tho :/
he,s gone for duffman oh yeah ;)
Just came on, so sorry if it's already been mentioned, but I don't see it in the poll - he hasn't scored awesomely as yet, and it probably already looks like you'll have to pony up for your own Toyota...so is anyone gonna just bench him?

Yeah, I'm happy to sit him on the pine for a bit. If I was willing to do it with JMac then I can do it with Shaw.
Bit concerned about my cover though, if Ellis gets dropped and Birch is a late out I'm facing a doughnut. Hoping for the best.
I will be keeping shaw, however I have lake out as well which will mean both ellis & morris on the field and no emergency for the defenders
Since my next 2 league opponents are spuds, I'm just going to be keeping him. Would be tempted to jump over to a Deledio or a Scotland though if I going for overall (though it's likely you're already behind the eight-ball if you started with him!).
so heath saw has done flower.
two weeks is too much to have a prem sitting on the bench playing ellis loosing too many points.
so thinking to go to scotland but open to other thoughts.
have god and lids already.
Had spare cash so traded out Shaw for Deledio..

Everyone trade him, go on.
I am amazed at so many people making sideways trades willy nilly for premiums. People have wasted trades for what gains this early in the season. I have him and he'll be a performer for the season.
Bench him. its only for 2 weeks possibly just this week if its lies and hes just being rested.
Mind you, I believe it's possibly smokescreens. Wouldn't be surprised if Shaw or Thomas are fit but just being rested for the anzac day clash.
24 trades left by the way and sitting just nicely within the top 1k. hope that jumps higher as the season goes on and ppl blow trades and my team guns it up.
I'm sick of his ugly head, gambling issues and always drawing me in to get burnt. Plus Clarke will take his role.
Why, oh why is dream team so stressful. I thought it was supposed to be fun!? He he
OK, so I'm 50/50 on Shaw. I have to admit, I'm probably a little worried his average will be a bit lower than last years, this year. Then there is the risk of his pea-brain. 'Hmmm, so I'm at the TAB anway.. Might as well put a bet on Collingwood, right?"
In addition to this, I don't have Goddard as yet. And as many people are saying, so far the risk of not starting with him has not paid off and he has been killing it. Saints look like they still have some wind in their sails and he looks to be there go-to man, racking up plenty of ball.
Weighing up what I've said so far, it would be 75/25 in favour of trading him out. But then, throw the spanner in the works!
I burnt 2 trades last week getting in a couple of cash cows I had overlooked.
3 trades used after 4 rounds. Hmmmmmmmmm.. *Strokes chin*.
What are peoples thoughts?
Hes a dud.
Does anyone know if they bluffed a two week injury and just wanted to cover up for one week.
So my question, will he play on ANZAC do you guys recon? Or will Brandon Ellis be a starter for the 5th week running?
Yup! Loves the big stage
I wouldn't rule it out....
He better play. I don't want to depend on Ellis pulling out huge 70's each week. I prefer a solid 90 from a prem.

I wouldn't be trading him out personally...honestly think he's one of those you just have to hold on to. He is back next week anyway, the only reason its not this week is coz of the short week. If the game was on a sat/sun he would be playing fo shizzle.
This FCKING spud. Saw him in coaches box, better be back next week :@
He loves playing the Bulldogs... which is good news for those who have kept him :)
Whats his b/e btw?
124 :'(
He's the Gia of the backs haha.
Umm so duff man at this stage looks good... :'(
