Title: Flipping Berger
Post by: Praetorian on April 12, 2012, 08:30:20 PM
...My goal this season is to see how many awful Berger jokes I can pull out.

Anyway, Hudson's got the flick this week, but much to my surprise, Longer has come straight in and been named at ruck. Not bad for a rookie, they obviously think pretty highly of the bloke. It's tough to imagine him getting much of it in his first game, though.

My question's this - Berger's been named at FF, which - if he stays there - is less than conducive to decent DT scores. He tears it up when he's on the ball, like he did last week. Jonathan Brown's back this week, and I'd hoped that'd free Leuenberger to slaughter the ruck as usual.

I'm not actually that worried, just interested to know everyone else's thoughts. Is Longer likely to provide a threat to Leuenberger's output?

I reckon Berger will play most of the time in the ruck, Longer's just named at Ruck. If Berger can go fwd and kick a few goals, could be even better!

A well seasoned Berger will outlast Longer.

In other words, I think it will just be a learning experience for Longer. Could get subbed at some stage.

I wouldn't be too concerned if I was you....

Hudson isn't playing cause he doesn't want to go to Perth, instead stay home and look after his business. It's a piece of paer, he will play more game time in the ruck aight.

Don't let Berger being named at FF put you off. Berger will take most of the ruck duties as I'm sure the Lions wouldn't want to feed Longer to Sandi.

Heard Hudson was waiting on a specialist razor to be delivered from Switzerland and can't risk the trip to Perth in case it arrives in that time - he still has a responsibility to maintain the people's beard.

Longer is a great athlete and based on skill and potential alone he deserves to play more games than he will this year I'm afraid. Be very keen to see how he does though as I rate him.

Might hold off my Hmac upgrade for two weeks and downgrade him instead
