7 played for 530.

Not fantastic but have the chance of taking Murphy's 120 as C of I am that way inclined.

No rookies left to play either.

Studs - Marc Murphy

Duds - B. Ellis and S. Coniglio (but they get off under the 'first AFL game' rule.)

540 from 8, not happy D:
but i guess most of my players were rooks. Good effort rooks! :)

Shiel, Ellis, Coniglio were disappointing, smith coulda got bit more and bench was any better either. No kennedy at all  hurts.

Ablett is my capt and i have shaw, sidey, pendles, buddy, ablett, fyfe, pav, broughts, jelwood, boyd, goddard and McEvoy to go for me premos. No more rookies except hall and only graves as midpricer.
Hopefully i get 1400-1500 from my premos (incl capt.) and ill be happy enough  ;D

653 from 9, although I've only had 3 premiums playing with 6 rookies playing, including Coniglio, Ellis and Camerons showerhouse scores. Not too happy but not pissed off either.

My whole week depends on how my 6 gun mids do, if I can squeeze a 750 out of them my week will turn great.

Studs: Kennedy / Bugg / Mumford / Delidio

Duds: Coniglio (on field) / Shiel (bench) / Ellis (bench) / Martin - expected a lot better!

Disapointment: Dropped Conca due to sub knew I shouldn't have scored 36 in less than a quarter.

632 from 8, no rookies left. Seem to have gotten lucky so far with the rookies I have chosen on the ground (Bugg, McDonald, Giles, Smith, Cameron with Ellis, Townsend and Shiel on the bench). Only concernign there there is the lack of Kennedy. Just gotta hope the premiums get premium scores and should start off the season in good shape :)

I imagine you must have a few mid pricers like danger, hargrave and maybe golby?

Now my only choice left for the final team is who to start out of "the Legend" and "The Magnet" in my mids.

See this is where I think mid pricers let you down...
You have 15 players left to play.
I have 13 to play. 1 rookie and 1 mid pricer and 11 premiums.

It's almost a guarantee that 11 premiums will 9 premiums and 2 mid pricers... So my question is why bother with mid pricers at all? My team has 1... but with a specific trade plan that does not include him in my top 7 backmen.
Mid pricers are almost always unproven therefore it's a gamble that risks LOSING. Proven premiums aren't a gamble, just a bit of luck involved in how good or bad their season will be at premium status. In many ways a rookie is like a mid pricer. They both have uknown scoring potential that you have to guess at. I'd much rather a premium and rookie than 2 mid pricers and here's why:
Premium avg 110 (give or take)
Rookie Avg 60 (possibly a little generous, but if you've done your homework...)

Mid pricer 80 (again giving the benefit of the doubt)
Mid pricer 80

Now you already see the premium and rookie combo coming out at a guestimated 10 points higher. But lets say they break even and the premium avg's only 100....

You make SO much more money from a rookie as they have a MUCH lower breakeven than a mid pricer.

Oh and it takes 2 trades to cash in the mid pricer and only one the rookie.
Title: Re: Round 1 progressive scores

you can compare your scores to Zip and I each week and see if your theory works out :)

Me I'll take a proven mid pricer either recovering from injury or clearly on the improve as a 2nd or 3rd year player than a rooks score.

Just to give you a couple of examples of why your wrong about mid pricers.

1. Shiels was a cheap mid pricer last year, what did he end up averaging again ?

2. If someone offered you Lake for $255K when he was fit you would have bought 3 of him no?

3. I am willing to bet I make more money from any of my low $200k mid pricers than I could make from a lot of the rooks and I reckon I might just make the cash a lot sooner as well.

But each to his own, good luck for the rest of the round and we will see how we all end up  ;)

the 'it uses less trades' line of thinking is also a myth.

You cant trade a rookie directly to a premium, so you have to downgrade one, then upgrade another = 2 trades.

Same with midpricers, although you probably only need to downgrade a rookie and upgrade a midpricer.

Also means you SHOULD be getting higher scores and better JS than rookies.

therefore midpricers > rookies...... If Chosen Correctly.

No doubt that's true. But picking a mid-pricer that becomes like shiels is like winning the jackpot.
I was looking at player trends prior to the season beginning.
I noticed a pattern in many proven premiums.
They begin first year around 60's then there are two streams. They either take a little longer and go something like 70's, 90's and then 100's or they go low 90's, low 100's then high 100's. Now obviously there are many excpetions to the rule but as a general guideline it proved fairly accurate.
Having said that there are HUNDREDS of players who fit the formula and then don't progress. A lot of the mid-pricers who have high hopes don't make it, not in DT anyway.
At the end of the day there are good arguments both ways. But mid pricers do cost more and as a result lessen your potential amount of premiums.
I'm looking forward to comparing scores with you and Ziplock!

midpricers are where it's at!

first thing im going to do when lockout finishes is go to your team, i assume your going to have something like waters, golby, hargreaves down back. Probably JZ in the middle maybee caddy or mccarthy. Maybee Hmac or kreuz in the ruck.

Cant think of any midprice forwards besides danger and porposie. i would give you props if you have the guts to go christenson.

Saying that i have too many midpricers this year, if you dont count clarke as a rookie than i have none left either. I ahte midpricers and i have 3 guys in 200-400k range and for me thats 3 too many.  I just cant afford to drop one of them a rookie and get 2 premiums so im going to have to stick with it.

Im on 597/8 so pretty bad, like most my bench is killing it.

On a positive note i have 10 premiums left too play, my 2 350kish midpricers, hargreaves and clarke.l

IM expecting 550 from my 4 mids, i hope they can do it they cost me nearly 2.3 million, thats only 100k less than my 9 backman

561/9 - Stupid DT App. I did a couple of trades and it left Waters, who I brought in, on the bench and played both Morris and Ellis. Also put the Porpoise on the bench too, luckily that didn't effect me. Would have had Morris on the bench, now have to have Smedts and Bugg >:(

Have had Coniglio, Shiel, Ellis, Morris, Smith, Scotland, Giles, Mumford, and Deledio play.

Scores ?

12 for 1115 for me (captain still to come)

hoping to average 100 per player (including the double score for captain) is a strong round 1 score just below par at the moment but as I say captain to come...

Studs: (90+) Kennedy / Bugg / Franklin / Pendles / Sidebottom / Mumford / Swan / Delidio

Duds: (80-) Shaw / Coniglio / Giles / Martin.

4 premiums , 5 mid pricers , 1 rook to play.

Nails are yours as crazy as mine?

Ablett - Goddard - Fyfe - Broughton (not crazy)

Magner - (not crazy)

Howard - Hargrave - Dangerfield - Lynch - Caddy ( yep that's the crazy part)

Not really sure how I'm going to be completely honest - this being my first year of DT after 2-3 years (can't remember!) of SC - it's hard to gauge how I'm going/what I should be aiming for per round...

Anyway, I'm on 1060 from 12 players (incl. Capt Swan having played tonight).

Hoping for big games from God/Broughts/Lake/Boyd/Magner/Cox/StevieJ/Chappy/Fyfe/Danger - I'd like to get over 2000 from my first ever round of DT... Time will tell I guess!!

1016 from 11 (inc C)

Rocky, Adcock, Ablett, Heppell, Broughton, HMAC, Gia, Boyd, Hargrave, McCarthy, Goddard left.

Lots of firepower, so confident of hitting 2000. OBVIOUSLY Swan gets his lowest score v Hawks in his last 6 games when I decide to make him C ::)

Lol, I know, right.  I consider "studs" as players who get 100+.  I know people expect 130 from Swan each week, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with his score tonight.

Nothing wrong with Swanny, although I'm probably saying that cause I have GAJ Captain  :P

I'm 930 from 10 with no Captain and most of those rookies with the rest scoring very average - So not to angry at that I guess.

For me 2200 not going to happen tho.

If you work off

100 for each premium  (x13)

300 captain (x1)

60 each rook (x8)

working off a 14 premium / 8 rooks team thats a score of 2080.

Lets say par is what you said :)

one thing I've learned over 4 years of DT is that its bloody hard to start off with a bang, if you can't get it all perfect with rookies like having Kennedy/Bugg on field instead of Smith/Ellis who were touted as better players, and had NAB to back them up then you're not miles behind everyone and in need of a total reshuffle of your team like some doomeys are saying 8)

anywho, 1269/13 Cpt(Pendles) played :)

Barlow is the sub, so that will effect your scoring. :(

As for me, I'm on 1644 from 16 (captain GAJ played)

Watson, Fyfe, Hargrave, Boyd, Cox and Goddard to play, so sitting pretty nicely at the moment.

Boyd, Goddard, Hargrave and Howard to come. 2050 would be nice. Tom Lynch with the vest hurt me today.

Been a great day for me.

Ablett (272)
Fyfe (124)
Watson (114)
Magner (103)
Hall (55)

Sitting on 1882 from 18 players, with an average of 104 per player.  DT predictor has me finishing with 2236.  With three premiums and a mid-pricer to play, that is very much on the cards.  If everything goes well I could even push for 2300, but that's being mighty hopeful at this stage.  I'd need my remaining four players to get an average of 104.5 each for that to happen.

22 played - bad start for me - 2030. I did have two players get injured and play limited time as well as some rookies on my bench scoring 100's but no excuses, need to sort it out and start making out ground. there's a long season ahead and anything can happen.

Jesus, I must be getting a bit long in the Mantooth. I remember the dark ages of DT when cracking 2k every week was the holy grail.  :-\

Don't beat yourself up, 2030 in round one is very respectable indeed.

mate, i only talk about the one team. i dont even care about the one that's doing better this week.

The Johnsonator is my team.
and i'm 2153 from 21 - with Goddard to go.

I didn't really slow down - i was 1050 from 12 (projected of 2213), then 1478 from 16 (projected of 2230) and then 1958 from 19 (projected of 2250), now 2153 from 21 (projected of 2253)

well if you dont care about your 2nd team then why dont you delete it?
that would be the correct thing to do..wouldnt it? otherwise it may be considered as cheating, and im sure an outstanding member of his community wouldnt want to cheat...would he?

because i was told to help my stress levels to create a team that was based on gut feeling. instead of saying should have gotten or i knew that was going to happen - put it in another team.
