These are the players in my team who i've considered:
Scotland (versus Richmond)
Last time: 74 and 79
Swan (versus Hawthorn)
Last time: 122 and 130
Pendlebury (versus Hawthorn)
Last time: 103 and 105
Ablett (versus Adelaide)
Last time: 142 and 156
Mitchell (versus Collingwood)
Last time: 105 and 137
Thompson (versus Gold Coast)
Last time: 135 and 151
Van Berlo (versus Gold Coast)
Last time: 126 and 132
Franklin (versus Collingwood)
Last time: 57 and 55
Pavlich (versus Geelong)
Last time:95
Harvey (versus Essendon)
Last time: 99
Sidebottom (versus Hawthorn)
Last time: 63 and 72
So that first look narrowed it down to :
Swan (122 and 130) - mister consistent, surely 125+
Ablett (142 and 156) - first season last year, may well improve this year.
Thompson (135 and 151) - looks sure to score 130
Van Berlo (126 and 132) - 2nd highest scorer to Swan in the latter rounds, may well go beyond 130
Shortlist:
Is the possible improvement in Ablett offset by a possibly better Adelaide team ? Best score of the four though and surely consistent enough to be within the 140+ range. The other downside is that he didn't move into the top 10 scorers until Round 8 last time, although of course that may have been adjustment to the new team rather than being rusty for the new season
A massive Van Berlo score would surely be unique, so that's very tempting.
Many will have Swan for the consistency alone and he scored 137 in his opening game last time
Thompson was quick enough out of the blocks last time, being top scorer in his second game. A 91pt in his 1st game was against Hawthorn, but although that wasn't great it should be much easier this time.
Verdict:
I'm going to put my faith in Ablett. I don't think the opening game is the time to take a risk, so it comes down to Swan or Ablett, with Thompson not too far behind. Van Berlo will have another day but I have a feeling I may kick myself.
Nuts, i've just realised this should probably be on the other forum :-[
I did captain Ablett in the end. Pendleburys score was better than both his scores last season, Swans was worse. I wonder if this is a sign of things to come ?
Just praying for a big score from Ablett now and will be disappointed if he doesn't score atleast as well as both efforts last season.
Chuffed with picking Ablett over Swan. Not taken a look at Week 2 yet.
Talking to yourself huh? Lol jokes.
;D
Yeah, it felt like it !
A bit like being at home with the Mrs really :)
