Title: Final Team (hopefully)...all info will be helpful :) and ill help where I can
Post by: t.thomas6 on March 23, 2012, 10:43:56 AM
Hey guys,
This is the final team I've come up with. Any constructive criticism is VERY welcome :)

One risk I've taken (as you can all probably see) is Hale as R1 with a 1-3 strategy (if you can call it that). This was done due to pre-season form and the fact that due to injury to their other rucks, he will do the majority of the ruck work for the initial part of the year.

BUT...I'm happy to hear all your thoughts  :) Post away!

its only early in the morning pal be patient lol

backs: good a few injury risks in there such as malceski, adcock, lake but all in all still good :)

mids: fine no problems here. i like the jobe watson move can win the brownlow

rucks: heres where my problem is DO NOT believe the david hale hype yes he had a good pre season. but there are way better options

forwards: bit risky with porps at F5 but hopefully he has a good year. rest is good

7/10

Yeh i was thinking about going the Mummy, Giles, Redden and one of Rowe or Stepho as another choice.

Extremely happy with the Watson at M4 too :)

Any pointers to fix up those issues through the ruck, backs (to limit those injury concerns) and fwds (to get porps to F6)?

Thanks for the feedback and rate  :)

yep downgrade either adcock or malceski to a rookie someone like smedts and put bugg on the ground.

then upgrade pfeiffer to dangerfield?? to get porps as 6th forward.

ok...i've tried
Adcock for M. Clarke
Hale for Mummy and
Pfeiffer for Danger

Can anyone think of anything better? Maybe a better option than Clarke? Still not 100% sold on what he can make week in week out. :(

downgrade porpz to a rookie then upgrade malceski to somebody like broughton and use remaining cash to upgrade montagna to a 600k prem?

Yeh I'm not 100% on Montagna...after last year anyway. He has potential and COULD be a potential cash cow...but it's a big plunge.

Thanks for the tips :)

Ok guys...had another rethink:

Downgraded Montagna to Caddy and gone with a 3-3 midfield structure...
Then upgraded Clarke to Broughton.

Part of me is thinking Caddy might step up this year going by his NAB Cup form. I've been too-ing and fro-ing with this most of the day...

So my team looks like this now:

What do you all think? Please comment and rate.

Cheers  :)

How much cash left?

Good team, I think pick one of Malceski or Lake and then downgrade the other to a rookie. This gives you some money to just tweak your mid premiums if you want. Such as Watson may be a little risky this year with injuries so you could upgrade him to the likes of J Selwood, Rockliff, M Murphy, Priddis who ever you want :)

I see what you're saying.
So something like this?

I've left Priddis out the last two years after ALMOST picking him each time to my peril...and he will be getting A LOT of ball from Coxy and Nic-Nat.

This side leaves me 46k instead of the 2k from the previous side.

How does this look guys?

Thanks for the rating!
Back: personally I take lake over malkeski purely on 2 broken legs. and drop mal to a rookie free some cash and pump adcock up to a Scotland
Miss: loving it, wouldn't worry on priddis he is a 100ppg player ever week. Consistant is good to have in there guys you don't need to worry about.
Ruck: nice like me
Fwd: I do rate gray for a breakout, and i think the pace has a go left in him. But fyfe, goodes, Martin, Frank should all Def be top 10 fwd. Where in there will be hard.

9/10

Thanks for the rates guys. Much appreciated and happy to do the same for yours.

One question. Who out of these two should I have on the field tomorrow night?

Conlignio or Sheil?

Discuss and keep the team rates and comments coming guys!

Side looks very strong to me, one rookie I would look at jumping on if he is named next week is Kerridge. And if I had to pick, put Coniglio on the field, but thats really a coin flip.

Yeh I went with Conlignio too. And I defs will be watching Kerridge in my rearview mirror :P

Backs: Look fine.  Don't know about Boumann's job security though.

Mids: Looks fine.  I'd start Coniglio if you are going to have him.  I'm not a fan of McDonald, I'm just not sure how much game time he is going to get.

Rucks: Fine.

Forwards: Look fine.  Trade couch though, he hasn't been upgraded too my knowledge and I think there are better options in terms of SC scores.

Overall 9/10.

Thanks for that. Couch traded for Pfeiffer and Darley in for Boumann now :)

Looks good
Rucks could do with Stephenson instead of Rowe.
Very similar to mine 9/10

Loving the team now! :) I would start both Coniglio and Shiel this week, they are both named on field and should produce but where as Magner is coming back from that slight finger injury but still it's up to you.

Just one glaring error that I can see. You have plenty of DPP players in the back line and forward line, but none in the midfield which, pretty much makes their DPP status useless. Try and swap them around a bit or change one or two of your mids to DPP's. Maybe take Mitchell out, put Goodes in the midfield and pick another premium forward like Chapman. Will give you a lot more flexibility.

Post by: t.thomas6 on March 23, 2012, 11:26:08 PM
Yeh, I'm gonna work my DP status into my trades during the year. It's not the best now, but I'm looking more at making money on my rookies and upgrading when I can to relevant DPP's to create the flexibility.

Although a very good point and one I was very aware of and a bit worried about. Also I wanna keep Mitchell...i feel he's worth it :P

What does everyone else think? Any suggestions?

To fix the DPP link you just need to move Devon Smith to Mids and select another rookie forward.  Not a fan of playing prem players out of position to create DPP.

I'll try moving Smith and see where I'm at. Will update you all :)

Hmm...now stuggling.
Don't want 3 GWS rookies in the mids. So will have to swap Shiel or Conlignio for him :( and those guys seem perfect where they are :( DAMN IT!

Any suggestions now?  :'(

Ok got it....i think.

Heard a lot about Kerridge (MID/FWD)!

Swap for Ledger and problem solved :) Smith can stay a foward and Sheil/Conlignio mids :P

Any issues?  :-\

Post by: Ringo on March 23, 2012, 11:45:16 PM
What are your thoughts on Ledger. - Could you use Smith there.  Bear in mind when they max out you will be trading so no real issue with 3 GWS in same line. Zorko will be ripe for downgrade when named to retain DPP.
Title: Re: Final Team (hopefully)...all info will be helpful :) and ill help where I can
Post by: t.thomas6 on March 23, 2012, 11:52:40 PM
Heard good things about him. Only worry is how much game time he'll get.
I could even throw in Kennedy from GWS where Kerridge now sits.
And what about Zorko? Isn't he out till round 2? and will he get game time?

Explain to me veteran coach! :P
Title: Re: Final Team (hopefully)...all info will be helpful :) and ill help where I can
Post by: Ringo on March 24, 2012, 10:57:42 AM
Just a short explanation for you - say you put Smith in as DPP in mids he starts accumulating points from Round 1 but value is adjusted at the start of Game 3. (Players must play 3 games before price is adjusted).  Say Zorko does not come in until Round 3 it means he does not increase in value until Round 5 Say in your opinion Smith has peaked in Value at $250k at the start of round 5 you downgrade him to Zorko and have $140k to use on upgrades,  That is what is meant when we say downgrade targets and Zorko will be one depending on when he starts playing. There may be others who will come in as well to keep an eye.
One of the tips for the season is keep an eye on rookies who are scoring well and downgrade to them before they raise in value.  A handy tool to use is on the front page click on players and when the drop down box appears at the side click on Bubble boys SC and get the list and you can then research and make decisions which ones to downgrade to.
Back to Zorko imo he will get games as he is mature aged and a goal sneak which Brisbane really need.
Title: Re: Final Team (hopefully)...all info will be helpful :) and ill help where I can
Post by: t.thomas6 on March 24, 2012, 01:35:39 PM
Would it be better to keep Kerridge to limit the overuse of GWS rookies or put Smith in the mids and throw say a Kennedy (GWS) in the fwds who is ALSO a DPP?

Having Kerridge AND Smith in there looks like it allows for flexibility and Zorko is a MID/FWD meaning I can downgrade either of those guys. Only worry is Kerridge and how many games he'll get and IF he gets named...

Thoughts Ringo? and others too? :P

Somehow I missed your suggestion on Kerridge replacing Ledger. He was Adelaide's first draft pick last year from memory and looked good in the NAB cup. As with most rookies it is pure speculation from us as to how many games players will get,  In these instances go with your gut. Like Kerridge in mids with keeping Smith in forwards. I have smith as F7 in my team as well.

Gut it is :) I'll show some faith in the Kedge :P

So...THIS is the FINAL team that I will not change before tonight's game (touch wood)

I think this team will fair well for the first part of the 2012 SC season :P
