Poll
Question:
What will he average? (new poll)
Option 1: 104-109
Option 2: 98-103
Option 3: 92-97
Option 4: 86-91
Option 5: 80-85
Chris Masten is definitely a player currently on my radar. He racked up 89 points last night against Port and as I follow tBetta on twitter, he was saying how Masten looked very fit and was absolutely delightful in the midfield!
He showed a lot of potential last year when he didn't have the dreaded green vest - averaging 99.5 in the 4 games he wasn't subbed in or out!
He has a high ceiling, of 140!
and with West Coast on the up, I think Masten will be on the up too, he's currently sitting in my 5th MID position, behind Swan, Boyd, Ablett and Murphy.
but will he be used as the sub again? let's hope not

"Just reiterating, if you look at the numbers, 91 is an average he can easily attain if he stays fit and in form. This doesn’t mean you have to pick him, and I don’t expect you to â€" just an interesting talking point."
PPG IMO
= 92
what do you think he'll average?
premiums and rooks only for the midfield line.
hayes being the exception this year.
hmm. masten changing my mind a little after yesterday essendon.
anybody actually going with him?
seemed to click into place for him at the end of last season and is without a lot of risk as he can surely only go up after a decent preseason.
could be a unique as he's burnt so many in the past.
a good performace in the nab GF could see him come into calculations.
With lecras out as well who was touted to be playing midfield, should mean he gets plenty of ball
So, so dodgy. Just can't bring myself to go with him. :P
I personally like him. Hope he goes alright, I just don't want to get him..
Isn't even in the WC 22 every week
Is there are <80 option?
I like him. Looking closer at McCarthy though...
definitely in WCE best 22 when playing well which is what he has been doing. all club staff rate him super high and will go to every length to try and make sure he realises his potential. this means he'll usually be in the 22 even when not going so good so the donut risk is down.
we all know he can score well.
the question is has he found the confidence to do what they all think he can consistently.
like i said previously. a good show next week (80+) and i am willing to give him a go.
He is a #3 draft pick too. Obviously a very good junior.
If he can break out this year I'd take Masten and JJ. Kennedy over an aging (broken shoulders) Judd.
Makes me feel proud that he's performing after I wrote this and already had him in my team .. and still do ;D

were?
He hasn't averaged over 67 in a year at all.
It's a bit presumptuous to not have an under 80 option...
(presumptuous doesn't have a b :P)
meh, im skeptical on masten, he's not going to get the same midfield time come the season proper when shuey/embley/rosa/priddis/scooter et al are being used in the guts
he'll play his part - embley always gets a run down back or even fwd sometimes, selwood is the tagger and masten could just play loose half back and wing and rotate. Anything above 87 ppg and I'll be happy !
I'll stay by 86-91.

I went 92-97, but at 278k I'd happily take anywhere between 86-91

add gaff to that as well
Masten is proving this NAB Cup that he deserves a spot in the MID
i would have thought rosa and embley would be a bit rusty. this guy could be a steal imo this year. i don't do DT, but similar situation applies with masten, he is priced at around a 50 average. 310k in SC, i'm running 3 premo mids and this guy atm is M4.
not locked but i'm seriously considering mostly due to price and form - early draw is good for the eagles as well:
dogs, dees, GWS, hawks, tigers, roos, bombers, saints, dockers, lions - BYE
could be a handy stepping stone to pendles before they bye for mine, therefore i'm keeping an eye on how he gets used.
i agree essendon2, anything over 85 and i'll have that (SC might and would probably be higher than that) - if i did start him probably wouldn't keep for long.
He is standing up and proving himself. A stepping stone for a Prem, though who now looks to get the vest? Will he still wear it on his shoulders alternating with Gaff?
Koby Stevens, Gerrick Weedon
masten is in the top 2 runners at the club. he was recruited and has always been groomed for a midfield role. all the mail is on hime spending all his time there.
From the votes so far, (on average)
Masten will average 94.9
Masten Birchall and Porps
Or
Swan Clarke and Pfeiffer
Highly unlikely he will ave 104-109?

Swan wins by 30

I meant option 1 wins haha - by around 10 ppg
Yeah
I am starting to warm to my favourite Eagles bashing boy.
Every week the words...
"If it wasn't for flowering Chris Masten I wouldn't have the sun in my eyes."
alternatively...
"If it weren't for flowering Chris Masten that blonde over there would have my arm around her not that guys."
or even
"If it weren't for flowering Chris Masten I would not be down here in the cheap seats, I would have my own box."
As you can see he is not my favourite Eagle (at the moment) but if he turns his nab performances into home and away performances he could well find himself being cheered by me and possibly in my DT.
Watch this space.
Get on him!
