Title: Potential Geelong Rookies???
Post by: mdub on February 15, 2012, 04:49:16 PM
In the 2011 season Chris Scott used a lot of rookies in his premiership team. Who would be some good rookies to look for from the geelong team??/

Lincoln Mcarthy would have been an absolute gem but he is injured again. (if i can remember right it is a shoulder might be a knee tho)

He is a medium (small) defender with incredible strength for a first year player. He also has some decent speed around the ground but lacks endurance. With Geelong lacking in fowards with Mooney, Menzel, Duncan all gone and christensen and brown suited to the midfield Lincoln would have got a run this year. For a first year player his over head mark, upper body strength and defensive pressure are his strongest points which is something you usually dont see until they have a few years experience in the afl.

Smedts is in a lot of teams, including mine. Kersten is in a few teams too, not nearly as many as Smedts tho.

Look out for George Horlin-Smith to feature some time in the Geelong senior side.

Allthough not rookies Gilies, Motlop, Taylor Hunt, Mitch Brown will all be given game time and fairly cheap. Motlop the only onr that could get a decent average. Soft shoulders very risky pick.

Murdoch could get games late in the season with a few injuries.

Mark, Smedts is probs your only hope, but you can consider Chrisso as a rookie.

Thats it bro, no one worth looking at. GWS rookies are whats necessary.
