Just been reading over in SC land the possibilty of someone starting with 2 Premo & 6 rookie midfield. This got me thinking so I threw together this team.
B: Goddard, Shaw, Delidio, Adcock, Heppell, Conca, Clarke (Ellis, Mohr)
M: Swan, GAJ, Clifton, Shiel, Treloar, Zorko (Mitchell, McDonald)
R: Sandilands, Leuenberger (Giles, Rowe)
F: Franklin, Goodes, Zaharakis, Martin, Christensen, Brown, Cameron (Smedts, Walsh)
Bank: $125200
Rookies are just the familar flavour going round at present so they can be changed with any other options.
Although I'd need a dump truck to carry my gonads around to start this team it would be interesting to see how it went throughout the year.
Your Rookies would change during pre season but if your going to do 6 midfield rookies i would omly have 2 or 3 at most from GWS these being Coniglio, Mcdonald and Shiel.
Zorko a better choice in your forwards and Smedts is a better choice in your backs
this idea makes a lot of sense given the best rookies are mids, and also given the dearest premiums are mids.
So what happens as you see with your team, by cutting down on mid premiums you end up with super stacked fwds and defs and your ruck (awesome).
Downside is and i imagine thats why you mentioned the dumptruck is the potentially massive amount of points per week you lose to other sides that have 4 premium midfielders from rnd1.
Excellent players you have chosen however except i would see goodes not as a starter but as an upgrade target.
It would win you your league i think but maybe not the car :)
while rookie mids make the most cash - midfield makes the most points so i feel this team would not score as well especially if the rookies get subbed frequently
The idea has its merits. I think I would not be willing to leave so much money in the bank in this instance though. You've made a major concession by going for such a cheap midfield, I feel you really need to take advantage of the cash that frees up by starting with the absolute best players available in the other positions. Otherwise you're weakening your team in one position but not really taking advantage of it in the other positions.
I'm pretty sure i'm starting with Goodes as well. Soft fixtures early, two games v GWS (should be scoring at least 120 in both of them).

googes point friend :) im going to have to stop thinking last season and focus on the facts of this season, goodes does have a good draw early so does thompson which is why i have him over a lot of other premium mids.

I don't think keeping that amount of cash is to much of an issue as it would really help with a first mid upgrade. Thou it is very risky.
From some of these comments I'm actually thinking of setting a team up under my wifes name to see how it would actually pan out for the year. Could down grade a FWD & go with 3 gun mids instead.
I'm set on going 3 premo mids to start with and here's why:
- All the best rookies are in the mids
This will gain you the most money, allowing you to upgrade faster.
- At the end of the season, I want THE 6 BEST midfielders.
By starting with a Barlow, Hayes, or another mid-priced midfielder, he'll be lining up against either a Selwood/Mitchell/Rockliff/Swan/Pendles/Ablett (whoever you consider are the BEST 6) by season's end - could be a 10 - 15 point difference
- I will start with 4 premo / 1 mid-pricer in the FWD's and BACK's & 2 Premo rucks
less upgrades will be required in these areas (4-6 depending how the mid-pricers go)

I have 4 premiums and a mid-pricer in both fwds and backs, two premium rucks as well as Barlow as 4th mid
Could be interesting, but I think you are sacrificing a bucketload of poins straight up. Not to mention, it means you have to pinpoint the premium backs and forwards and rucks you start with almost perfectly to have a contending team at the end.

Sydney and Adelaide play Gold Coast and GWS in the first 5 rounds and again in the last 5 rounds
so players from both sides should get a fast start and a fast finish
I did that last year, and you risk having no room for gun rookies in the backs and fwds.. Ie if there is a surpise package in the backs, similar to Curnow you may not be able to fit them in
Perhaps concentrate on game day point scoring rather than over thinking the cash upgrade scenarios. Keep it simple ....as soon as round one starts there is only your team and the transfer options...anything that happens to your team happens to us all. Just can't see the point of planning more than a few weeks ahead as "Murphy's Law" always kicks in. Don't mean to offend anyone but it's just a view IMO.
