Title: AFL Live PS3
Post by: Maca24 on September 28, 2011, 10:08:21 PM
Anybody have it on PS3 and has online?
Would love to play some FF members  :)
If we have a few (unlikely) we could play a little season, recording results in here.

Everyone who plays would be in Australia? I played it at a mate, and honestly, I wouldn't buy it. There is already a thread in the Coaches Board about this...

Nah, I couldn't be bothered stating my opinion all over again - Hence why I told you there is already a thread on this in the Coaches Board (and I think here as well).

Everything I say get's taken the wrong way these days  :-X

For like seasons and tournaments and the rest.
Is there like a Fantasy Draft?
As in the drafts we have in Madden, NBA and the rest...
I'm not sure whether to buy it or not...

I was just guessing because it's worth about $15... Anyone who buys that game for $98 needs to see a doctor.

Pros: Gameplay is Fantastic, and online works great with the new updates. Rarely glitches.
Creating your own teams and players is also a nice feature, plus being able to change the lists. eg. I have Fev at Essendon  ;)

Cons: Season mode is shower, and they need to look at a Dynasty mode like the NBA games with Trade Week, Drafts Etc.
Stats aren't great after games.. eg. I'd like to see all the stats for every player.

they planning to do that stuff in the next one maca
there main aim for the first one was building a good engine that the gameplay was good to play so in future they can add to it  ;)

I have that on Wii. Prett ygood coz u can change clubs each season, only if you're offered a job at a certain club. If you travel so bad you might even get demoted to coaching a VFL team. Currently in my third season of that, West Coast to Port and still at Port. Also has trade week, draft (although it's the same players rolling through) and pre-season. It's quite good :)

nah 360
i play my mate and flog him
never tried it on the hardest difficulty except for the first time i got it and din't know how to play
well then after playing my mate heaps and always winning i took over one from my son he was doing a 10 min qtr one was down by 15 points halfway through 2nd qtr
by 3qtr i was 35 points down and like woah hang on a minute
lol took me that 5 minutes to get used to playing the comp since i hadn't for so long and not on that difficulty
needless to say they didn't score again and i won by 120 points
so i think i can win on toughest difficulty it would seem
which i know most people can was just a funny way of finding out..lol

I'll assume that the games are roughly the same on different consoles. Hardest difficulty is bloody tough, esp when your team is shower and you're playing Collingwood.

That's okay. When West Coast: 63% plays Collingwood: 88% on the hardest difficulty (Legend) it's not easy. I had that matchup in the GF, 10min qtrs down by 70pts at half time, dropped it down to Hard, and came back to draw. Couldn't be flowered doing it all again so went 2.5min qtrs on very easy. I hate losing.

I think we're in the same position just on diff consoles. My mate, who you might know on here as Red Pig, can't beat me, only time he gets close is when i don't play my normal game style, which is chip to chip. 20 possession and gain 3o metres, just back and forth back and forth. Annoys the hell out of him.

we only plays 5 mins

Got any particular game style you enjoy? That chip chip stuff is great coz even if i losae i still get the 3 best players on the ground because they each get 20 touches each :)

Yeah, 5-10 handballs to get out of trouble from a stoppage then find a player on the Half Forward line, then wait for lead. When there isn't one, kick 50m backward to the loose player on the half back line, then keep chipping around and eventually i find a gap. :)

Very defensive. That's how i like to play. But i do know that attcking scores more. Just before was playing Collingwood in pre-season, 5min qtrs. Down 6-19 in the 3rd. Went straight and direct, Westhoff kicks 3 in the final qtr, i win 39-19. Played on Hard. Marking is also the hardest part of the game.

i'm very attacking shoot through a few handballs to get in space then go from there
plus i pride myself on the 1 percenters
lots of hard tackles a few well timed bumps
my mate that always loses to me we played a few games on a team and he kicked most of the goals cause all my tackles and bumos was spilling the ball loose so i could just give it off to him  ;)

Bumping and tackling is vital in these games, coz every time i'm beaten to the ball coz Butcher, Davenport, Phillips are so slow.

I have it on ps3 and played a full season with Adelaide. Tippett won the Coleman, Brownlow and Norm Smith!
In the final I tried to get Thompson to win the norm smith by getting lots of touches but Tippett still got it.
What I didn't like was you couldn't change the difficulty halfway through a season so it got very boring...

Fifa 05 is the best. I used to score 10 goals a game against the AI.

What are the benefits of 2k12 over 2k11? If there isn't many then buy 2k11.

I have 2k10 & 11. I'd like to say that 11 showers all over 10.

And as Cicjose said, with all the legends being added to 2k12 it makes it a must buy.

But I will say this. If your a hard core NBA fan, like myself. I'd upgrade 2k every year. But if your just interested in the NBA, and like a great game that is cheap and will roughly have the same stuff as 2k12, then I'd just buy 2k11.

But for me, cannot wait for 2k12!  :)

Just played AFL Live for the first time on xbox 360... I was playing without knowing the control and was 0-30 down after 15 minutes 1st quarter... (20 minute games lol)

So I learnt controls and restarted...

My first game went like this:
Me:           Eagles:
1-4-10      3-1-19
1-4-10      7-6-48
1-4-10      something
2-4-16      something-something-101

Any tips? My best quarter was my first...
I'm a sprint holder... so holding sprint + then trying to spoil a mark etc. = HARD

Chip to chip. Get used to the controls by holding possesion. Then the long bomb to Jono Brown in the square :)

Haha

Burger w/ the lot kicked one and Jono Brown!!! ran onto a lose ball and kicked it from the goal square :) gun.

Not sure how we went from competitive at quarter time... 1-4-10 to 3-1-19 to end up not kicking a point for the next 2 quarters lol

Don't really do that. I only have a Wii, and that works for me. Just recently kicked a goal against the Cats after 10 kicks around the boundary, slowly working towards the goals then Priddis put it away :)

How do you shoot for goal on the run?

I know A passes the ball so you use X?

How do you know how hard to shoot at goal? How do you shoot from set shots?

I always go too short or it goes wild... How do you handball? Sooo hard to handball to where/player you want!

I just lost (on rookie) 51-79 against fremantle. First game of the season... second game of my career :(

'Cause I keep holding down sprint I accidentally played on 2-3 times right in front of goal and was tackled before I realised what was going on. Therefore could have been a lot closer...

J. Brown kicked 3 goals 1... should have been 4 goals straight but he was one of the ones I accidentally played on with :(

Help! :(

I have it on 360 and am killing it.

Playing as GC on Legend difficulty, beat Carlton 163-100 (10 min qtr.) and GAJ got 44 touches and 11 goals.

X is good for shooting at goal. Always belt it as hard as you can for a set shot and always aim outside the left/right goalpost.

Once you get the hang of it, it becomes really easy.

Ive got 06 on PS2 but want to Ps3 and 2012 when it comes out.Do your positions get rated out of 100. . In one My midfield is 97 and I've got ablett(injured) griffen he's like 100 in ratings, Dal santo 95, Pendulbury 90, mundy who plays as a forward but takes big pack marks. SandilAnds and macintosh who are both 95 but I play macintosh in ruck. Between them in a match they kicked 10 and they played half a match in the forward and half ruck. My tactic is to win the clearances and the rucks belt the ball and midfielders run on to it. Sometimes they kick for goal or chip in to a leading forward. One griffen kicked 11 goals. For some reason I score bigger in the nAb cup when there's shorter quarters. I have 5 minute quarters bt thats for 20 minutes on the game nab cup have 17.30 minute quarters. The most I won by is 154 points and I kept Richmond goalless in the 1st half. Once Sandilands toke a one handed specky while falling backwards in a pack in the goalsquare
