Is there a way the software for the main page during chat can identify and display members/guests on-line similar to the way we have in the forum?
eg. Users Online
32 Guests, 21 Users (4 Hidden)
Users active in past 15 minutes:
chrisuzz, bestguykai, Deakin, DT87, Grazz, n186, mehaff17, jvalles, Maca24, MTTY, blah128, Spite, Rickdog, My Chumps, plugz19, luvfooty, bunyips
There may be more banter attracted to the purity of footy chat if some users could foresee that there was a supportive ear on-line also. The chat user listing could also serve as an extra deterrent to the vitriole because the potential offender may be more wary knowing there are strong voices only a post away.
The flip-side is that some of the predatory trolls may target particular members knowing they have had success in baiting that particular member before.
Having said this, the quality of chat has been very good of late (from what I've seen and participated in). Everyone, mods and members alike, has been doing a great job and creating a much more mature and friendly environment.
Kudos guys 8)
I like the idea. If people are being targeted, they could always make their name hidden anyway :)
The live chat is a very simple process, there are no records kept of viewers or chatters because that would slow things down. It is not technically possible in the system I have built.
fair enough :)
