Some time in September. You have to wait for the 2011 home & away games to finish...

With regards to the Fanplanner, I was wondering if anyone knew if the prices in it might be spot on accurate this year from December due to the fact that Monty may be able to tap into the "Assistant Coach" planner that is happening on the official DT site this year.

I would say monty would just refine his algorithm so its more accurate... I dont think legally he could just rip off the AC prices

the new prices will only be available to AC buyers, and one of the terms of conditions of purchassing the ASS coach (funny aye :P ) is that you're not supposed to release or relay the information :P

Ah, terms and conditions are another kettle of fish. However, as far as I am aware, no NDA has been upheld in an Australian court.

The Fanplanner is up, the link is on the front page (the blue thought bubble).

I haven't done the positional changes yet. That's a job for this evening.

The salary cap of $9,130,000 is an estimate based on the AFL's last offer of an 11% increase to the AFLPA. I have the magic number at 4722 at this stage. It may be a little low, as the teams I'm seeing so far are fairly overpowered.

Title: Re: Fanplanner 2012
Post by: Ziplock on September 29, 2011, 12:24:23 AM
yeah I agree, the magic number should be a little higher- I made a mock team, even with just some lol worthy players like K Hunt instead of a 9th back, but it still seems too powered for a starting team, esp. as a lot of my rookies are first rd picks with higher price tags.

Thanks m0nty for the MPP updates, Hartlett looking solid as MPP, might replace the role that Deledio had now he'll lose his :(

Got It! I was lost for a while but i know. It's the one (And only) thing i don't like about the site. You need an account for FanFooty and an ancount for the forums. So you need to register on the site. Try that.

i agree would probably be better if they dindt get discounts they are already cheap enough to buy. However if they stay with the games rules they may have to be discounted. If hayes does go down 40% he will be in every single team.

great work though. good for the people like me who cant get enough of DT

the price is right ;)

increased salary cap, and due to squad sizes becoming smalelr, means the magic number and therefor prices will be higher. might take a little to wrap your head around, but they're ok. A little low, but good nuf :P

Just starting making my team and saw a few things iffy.

Patton (almost certain top 3) and Hoskin-Elliott don't have the 1st round price. Perhaps even Marksworth. Elton a chance for R/F?

Crozier a potential for F/C? And Brad McKenzie for B/C maybe?

Also Jaeger O'Meara and Brad Crouch can't play next season as they are 17 y.o's (can be traded to other clubs by GWS though). Not sure if there are anymore like them.

Great job though m0nty (and everything here is about rookies so nitpicking :P).

I have had that problem as well. I just pressed add midfielder instead of choose all midfielders and it worked.
I also had the problem but to correct I had to follow the path of choose all midfielders and it worked out ok.  maybe a slight problem with logic behind as I suspect in my case was it related to Goddard as I selected him as back but his listing is C/B so maybe that was the reason.
But aside from these minor bugs my congrats and great work Monty.

Title: Re: Fanplanner 2012

I don't tihnk the MN is the big problem, i say the salary cap should be lowered to under 8mil. Coz if we keep making the numbers bigger it gets complicated.

the salary cap will be equal to to what the actual AFL clubs have to use (that's how its worked for over a decade(Well so i have heard, i know it has for 3 years)).
Monty is right on the money with the salary cap, so the only possible change that we can make is the MN

if we have the current sub rule and reduce the squad to 30 players.  then it most likely will be 2011 season avg multiply by 5.13.

this is unlikely to happen but to make more uncanny/unusual players more attractive, discount may be applied games missed rather than just injuries affected players.

Bug:
also when you click trade group you cannot reselect your forward bench and then when you confirm changes your fwd bench players are deleted.

also monty could you please add kyal horsley to the mids he is a strong tackling goal kicking midfielder from the wafl. there's a little bit of speculation that he may go to the afl, as he just dominates in the wafl (mature aged 25 next year)

Basically because we are reverting to 30 players not the 33 we had this year.  You will now only have 2 reserves/emergencies on each line instead of 3.  As Salary cap was to remain at $10m prices naturally had to increase,

the salary cap will be equal to to what the actual AFL clubs have to use (that's how its worked for over a decade(Well so i have heard, i know it has for 3 years)).
Monty is right on the money with the salary cap, so the only possible change that we can make is the MN
as i posted eailer in this topic.

Whats a 'new magic number'?
Title: Re: Fanplanner 2012
Post by: ossie85 on October 04, 2011, 12:50:39 PM

Magic Number is the number they use to create prices for a player.

Basically it is the average the player got, multiplied by the magic number (around 5000ish), to get a price.

So Adam Goodes averages 100, multiply by 5000 = $500,000

Post by: PowerBug on October 04, 2011, 01:18:49 PM
I think if the MN keeps going up and player prices rise too, i'll start to lose interest in these comps because the numbers will be outrageously huge.
Title: Re: Fanplanner 2012
Post by: c4v3m4n on October 04, 2011, 03:34:06 PM
For everyone's reference, this is how the magic number has progressed over the past few years...

SC

2009 Magic Number: ~5365
2010 Magic Number: ~5311
2011 Magic Number: ~4866

DT

2009 Magic Number: ~4428
2010 Magic Number: ~4394
2011 Magic Number: ~4153

Please note there is an error margin of +/-1.

The reason we had such a massive decrease this year was due to the increase in squad sizes and also due to the inclusion of Gold Coast.

However, we have a conflicting impact on the MN for season 2012. The squad sizes are set to be reverted, trading is set to change, yet we'll have a flood of GWS players.

Hence, IMO, I'm predicting the MN to rise a bit, but certainly not back to the 2010 MN as m0nty has predicted. It'll probably go back to ~5100 for SC and ~4250 for DT.

It's very hard to pull a team together without the discounts of Hayes, Lake, Grimes etc. Everyone will have them because they are underproced, but without discounts you just don't know what else you can afford?

Interesting.

I would have thought due to the influx of players from GWS that it would be lower than the 2010 MN you've got, but not as low as the 2011 MN (due to revert in squad sizes).

I have updated the Fanplanner with all the new draftees and official list changes (plus moved Zac Dawson to Freo).

As maanco says, the DT salary cap does reflect the AFL CBA cap per team, so I have changed it to $8.78M and adjusted the magic number down to 4540 as a result.

I have adjusted the draftee/rookie prices down as I had them wrong.

I have also lifted the prices of all players who have not played a game but are going into their second or later year to a minimum price which is about $5k more than draftee price, to match what has happened in that area in the last couple of years.

Marty Clarke should be a back, surely? At least a M/B.

Sherman should be a F/M.

Vickery should be a R/F. 19th highest goalkicker in the league in 2011.

Christian Howard will be a mid or a M/B.

I have added a line under the team lists for the spread of byes your team has. This is going to get rather complicated, so I think a blog post will eventually be in order once the rules have been finalised, but the simple fact is that a structure of 8/11/11 for your bye players going into round 11 is the optimal mix to minimise the amount of necessary trades. Much more on this later.

Damn, I was hoping that this wasn't gonna get published by someone with a big following (wishful thinking I know).  I thought I was a clever little cookie for finding this.

I am currently 12/10/8 in my initial lineup with rounds 11, 12, 13 in mind.  The first lot of trades start about round 8ish, so 4 trades in 3 rounds is what I am planning for.

Viv Michie from Fremantle and Derick Wanganeen from Hawthorn aren't listed on the FanPlanner.  :)

That has been fixed.

I have also added the bye column to the Add Group pages, as requested many times.

Thank you kind sir. :D
