I've got Q tonight on a sticky/humid. Could be a danger game and I am going to send Sheldon in at 3 as a pinch hitter.
Going to lose tonight to ML. An uneven pitch doesn't suit me cos I like to play with 2 spinners...
Flat/Sunny for my match against Hello tonight

:)
Well after 40 overs against ML I was on 3 for 182 so going pretty well, but now doesn't even look like I will bat out the innings :(
End of over 46 (1 run) - The Matchbox Matadors(209-8) RR 4.54
B. Mlambo 0 (2b) , D. Brouwers 2 (5b) , A. Karunaratne 8-0-35-2
Yer but it's a big total. My batsmen always collapse. ALWAYS! :'(
All out for 221 in 48.1 overs :(
End of over 50 (5 runs) - Golden C(234-8) RR 4.68

Krishnamurthy Rudraraju (http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=43316), David Russell (http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=476075) and Shaggy Junior (http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=297563) took 3/90 between them on a green. Sunny as well. When you coonsider the strength of Barlow's bowling lineup, humph.
End of over 50 (4 runs) - PyroNerds XI(264-9) RR 5.28
A. Mustafa 1 (2b) , A. Kity 9 (7b) , C. Majoribanks 10-0-47-3

Orange was very economical opening the bowling, conceding just 9 runs. Strange cos he wasn't set to defensive...
Well he was annoying. :P
22.3 2 Suriyaprakash to Charles : [dropped] Charles's not got onto that as well as he'd hoped. Brouwers is out in the deep and it goes down! Oh dear... and if it could get any worse for Suriyaprakash there's 2 runs more to the score.
Well that is disappointing :(
End of over 23 (4 runs) - John Howard's Coathangers(97-2). 125 runs required from 27 overs. RR 4.22 RRR 4.63
S. Gecko 8 (8b) , K. Charles 23 (29b) , A. Suriyaprakash 2-0-11-0
Close game!
It is very close now but get ready for the collapse.
End of over 25 (3 runs) - John Howard's Coathangers(104-2). 118 runs required from 25 overs. RR 4.16 RRR 4.72
S. Gecko 10 (13b) , K. Charles 27 (37b) , A. Suriyaprakash 3-0-14-0
Halfway mark and I am behind in the chase. Go Kenny and Shaggy!

D. Currie 0 (0b) , S. Otieno 49 (78b) , R. Van Winden 7-0-32-2
Honestly I should be smashing Barlow. This is disappointing. The only guy that has played well is off to India :-\
End of over 32 (6 runs) - John Howard's Coathangers(141-2). 81 runs required from 18 overs. RR 4.41 RRR 4.50

Shamim. :(
I could still lose this the next 3 batsmen have dread or atroc batting :\
Did't exactly expect I'd need them ::)
End of over 44 (5 runs) - Feeling Sheepish(218-6). 17 runs required from 6 overs. RR 4.95 RRR 2.83

Going to need a big batting collapse to win from here ::)
End of over 46 (6 runs) - John Howard's Coathangers(220-3). 2 runs required from 4 overs. RR 4.78 RRR 0.50

1 last hurrah for Shamim <3

Rowley - 50* (66)
thanks for the humiliation
Tough game today, up against Sid on a Hot/Flat
Don't know whether to play Rowley - 27yo spec summary batsman to strengthen my reasonably weak batting line-up, or to play Jhappan - 25yo spec summary LFS to be the differentiator on a batting wicket anyway, considering the hot conditions.... :-\
I would play the spinner, but depends on what your lineup looks like.
Remember, must play one youth, and only one over 24yo allowed
Playing the spinner...
Drewer - 24yo out/out
Baker - 20yo rel/acc accumulator
Tikolo - 20yo exp/acc
Cosstick - 20yo - acc/rel Spin Spec
Seinfeld - 19yo - cap/rel
Costanza - 23yo acc/out (wk)
Jhappan - 25yo avg/spec Spin Spec Spec/Spec LFS
Jirongo - 20yo Exp/acc RM Swing
Kramer - 23yo Out/spec RM Swing
Abid - 20yo Acc/acc RFS OBB
Wright - 24yo Out/Exp LF Exp power
So batsmen are reasonably weak, but it is a flat pitch. If I play Rowley, he is 27yo Spec summary (skilled batting) and then play Fitzy - 20yo RF acc/acc NBB instead of Jhappan
The Hot weather leans me towards Jhappan because Abid is only acc/acc
Barlow has not played a Youth player again.... >:( So, no matter what the result between him and Zz, Zz will win.
He's just ruining the comp for everyone.
Note: Do not let Barlow enter any comps.

I've already set my orders for my game v Barlow. I hope he doesn't play a Youth because he I'd be really annoyed as he he's been DQ'ed every game bar 1 and by this rate I might not even win a game (I threw one away today :P )...

Lost to Baz tonight by 59 runs.

I made 7/296 on a Hot/Flat pitch, even with my average batsmen. Sid was all out for 254 in his run chase. thus the bowlers proved to be the difference on a flat pitch.
Man of the match: Drew Currie (3 points), Paul Jhappan (2), Philip Wright (1)
Currie (Sid) - 87 (70)
Jhappan - 4/47 and 18 (19)
Wright - 3/37
Currie got MOTM due to his good RR as Tikolo scored 86 (83) and doesn't feature. For me the bowlers won the match. Currie's performance was good, but probably shouldn't be MOTM.

I had 5 20yo, and 1 19yo. So does everybody else though Cookie.
i thought you were younger than a majority of other teams though so you might have a dynasty starting in the u/24 comp
I probably have one of the older sides and my team is rubbish compared to the others :(

Baz pretty much only has 20/21yo's with the exception of a 23yo, and nowa 27yo that he purchased. ML has a lot of 23/24yo's I think.
Your team is not rubbish CF, you've focused more on your YA, thus once you get one of your players up to 20, you can sell them off make a squillion and invest more in your SA. I've been lucky with a YP, and Baz has focused on investment in his SA, as has Sid, etc
I like the look of the players you bought with the YP money you got for Broomes. They are some great players
My player Nat Fyfe has been added to the USA U23 NAT Squad. Valk will be pleased. :)

Easy win in the end, although it wasn't looking pretty when pyro was 0/62 chasing down 246 for victory. My bowlers managed to pull of another mid-innings batting collapse to secure another comfortable win :)
3. Cooper - 57* off 32 balls helped build a competitive total, and chimed in with 2/27 off 10 overs to easily be MOM.
2. Singh - 3/31 off 10 overs for pyro was easily his best performer.

LOL .. pitches are decided at the start of the comp when the fixtures are made ;) You can see every pitch for every match even before a match has been played. It is the weather which isn't decided because local weather is being used in this comp.

Was going along very slowly until Thomas and Vettel put on 100 runs in the last 10 overs to post a competitive total. Should be a close finish.
5 an over on a slow pitch is a good effort Baz. I reckon you should win comfortably ;)

B. Lowery 0 (1b) , R. Doolan 5 (13b) , P. Jhappan 8-1-13-2
Up againt Fletch on a Sticky. Not doing too bad :-\
End of over 37 (2 runs) - SE Melbourne Thunder Dogs(115-8) RR 3.11
H. Wainwright 0 (0b) , C. Mwangi 2 (2b) , P. Jhappan 9-1-15-4
Nearly all out :-X Lost 3 wickets for 3 runs :P
Was about to agree with you Q that you weren't doing too badly, but losing 3 wickets for 3 runs has really put you on the back foot now.
In my game Warwick is keeping it competitive...
End of over 37 (8 runs) - The Matchbox Matadors(191-6) RR 5.16
G. Warwick 89 (113b) , W. Orange 11 (19b) , C. Hayes 9-0-40-2
37.1 4 Kramer to Mwangi : And that's just beautiful from Mwangi, the ball is a touch full and he just guides it through covers. Wainwright goes to meet him at halfway with a celebratory tap of the gloves.
Yeahhhh! ;D ;D ;D
Ended up having a comfortable win over Barlow in the end. My middle order and my bowlers are performing exceptionally well :)
Rob Thomas and Sebastian Vettel batted superbly to help build a very good total, putting on 88 unbeaten runs inside the last 10 overs. Then Sheldon Cooper and Jay Cartwright both excelled with the ball to ensure an easy win.

good game CF, really happy that I managed to chase down a decent total on a dry :)
Yeah was a good game pyro. My problem was I just couldn't get enough wickets early on, which set you up to attack at the end
Today see's the finale of the U24 WC Competition and what a great competition it has been for those who've followed the rules :D

15 Sep 09:00 Feeling Sheepish v The Matchbox Matadors - Cf will win due to Sid playing in breach of the rules

Baz has defeated me the only 3 times we've played, however all 3 have been outside the rules of this competition, including a 1 run win to Baz in the last match. Let's see how having to play a youth changes things, and see who comes home with the bacon ;)
Baz has outrated me in this competition, but an upset is looming ;D
Good luck Baz :D May your team fall to their knees ;)
Nice write up Fletch ;)
I've just been on the phone to my (C) Jay Cartwright and he assures me the boys are fully psyched for this evenings finale. They have been preparing themselves for this very moment for quite some time, and they are ready to fight to the death to ensure the inaugural FanFooty Under 24 World Cup goes to Team Bazinga ;D
Good luck Fletch (even though I don't sincerely mean it :P)
It has been a great comp, and I will definitely be holding it again next season for those who are interested.
Make it U25 next season though Baz. :P
Same thing Shaggy .. U24 is actually 24 and under.

Yes please, that way I can still play my 24yo's who will be too old next season :P
No one at international level does U24 comps though. Its U25 because that is the middle of a senior career Plus you will likely get more people who will play with U25 due to those with 24yo's this season.

This comp has got nothing to do with international level. It was originally going to be 23 and under, but everyone agreed that 24 and under would be much better. No-one has mentioned the thought of 25 and under until now, when a full season in the current format has already been played.
I know that it isn't, but by international level, I meant not just the international FTP teams but the majority of the competitions for this sort of format that are ran by individual countries inside the game.
Even allowing 2-3 players who are 25 would make a big difference I feel because I am sure a chunk of the players would be 24 in some teams. Gotta help keep them in it I suppose somehow.
I am open to ideas. I will see what everyone else thinks. It was agreed that 1 player over the age limit was sufficient though.

Well, make the age limit 25 with only at maximum 2 25yo's allowed to play :)
Depending how I go at the end of the season, I may participate baz. If I can pick up the 20yo' that I need, or slightly older if they are good enough. But if I can get enough of them then count me in.

Thats a good idea, but what about the any age exception?
Just the 1 any age and 2 25yos, so the rest have to be 24 or under?

Actually that's what i meant to say, along with one youth. You may find you have a comp with 12-14 players, except Barlow :P

You can only have a maximum 10 players in an organised friendly competition.
If someone wants to work out the NRR each round, I can get it organized Baz for a fixture and random pitches for each match. Would have to be set up via friendly challenges though.

I'd do the NRR calculation, but we may have a problem with Thursday's due to membership. I think it's better personally if its managed through FTP with 10 teams.
Nah I'd prefer to do it via an organised comp similar to this season. Less hassles that way.
Thanks anyway ;)
Good luck Baz and Fletch! ;)
I think U25 would be better, but i'm not fussed either way :P
If it was U25 though, we would have2 make it a maximum 2 25yr olds each and no players over 25.
Keep it U24 IMO, and just make it you can 2 over 24 exceptions (Still need a Youth). Stick to Organised Comp other wise things also turn out bad...

So in the battle for U24 supremecy Baz takes the title ;) I knew as soon as I lost my 2 openers in the first 2 overs that I would lose. No way I could fight back from there with my weakened batting lineup.
Chose to play my > 24yo exceptional summary bowler over my > 24yo spec summary batsman, which probably costs me the game in the end. Well done Baz, you now are officially my bogey team >:( with a 4-0 record over me....

Thanks Fletch, it was a lot closer than what it looked at the end. I was very worried when I was 5/102 at drinks, but luckily I have two strong all-rounders and having good batting depth down to number 8 makes a big difference.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this comp, I look forward to holding it again next season with a few minor changes :)

I think that's the difference between your side and mine is your batting depth. The closest I have to an AR is Jhappan and he is avg/spec and he comes in at 7. Something for me to look at for EOS.

Both my all-rounders are my highest experienced players. It's amazing how often they consistently score runs down the order when needed. They are like gold in my team. Sheldon Cooper is also my highest summary batsman and he bats at 8 8)
Congrats Baz!
Can't wait for next season so I can be a part of it 8)
