Title: Board arrangement issues
Post by: Prospector_1 on June 13, 2009, 07:25:09 AM
Hi m0nty - as others have asked, "Why does no-one read the general board?".

I think, its because its at the bottom of the page.

Any chance of moving it up to just after the main DT and SC boards? It could encourage better / more efficient use of the boards.

Just a thought, hope you'll consider it.

Or maybe a general board b4 the salary cap comps section?

no, after SC and DT not before.

I agree monty, make the general board the first link

m0nty,

the point being there's often fantasy talk that doesn't belong in either of DT or SC, but it is relevant for both, and we know you move cross posts to the general board. We'd like it to be easier to find those posts. So, pls. consider making a board suitable for such posts, and placing it close to the DT and SC boards.

Thx,

yer I reckon after dt and sc

m0nty,

there are a total of 30 posts in lethal league, foxsports and "other comps".

There are 422 in general board and feedback.

Surely you can lift these other two boards higher up the page, and drop the other three down? It's about site use-ability. Would you like me to run a poll (in one or more of the higher up boards of course!)?

I think the posts tell the story by themselves!

Should m0nty rearrange the forum boards to have most popular first, least popular last, and in between in order of popularity of posts?
Title: Re: Board arrangement issues
Post by: BradStar on July 04, 2009, 09:13:09 AM
no.
Title: Re: Board arrangement issues
Post by: Alex7089 on August 09, 2009, 12:57:33 AM
no because then all of the new boards with no posts would be all the way at the back and no one would find them
Title: Re: Board arrangement issues

good Idea prospecter. This would make popular boards more accessible
Title: Re: Board arrangement issues

Gotta agree here, General Board would be MUCH more popular if it was up the top of the page instead of stuck down near the bottom.

yep it would be better every now and again you feel like you need a break from fantasy Football but a lot of people may not know the genral board exists. It's a pain navigating away from fanfooty as I hate having more than 3 tabs and I always have one here, one at sc site and one at tooserious or searching for information to back up my posts

I have rearranged the boards today. Is this what you guys wanted?

Hey m0nty, I only just noticed - great! So much easier - but for a moment I was scared I'd lost something!

I see all boards without scrolling (I think). That's a bonus. Thanks m0nty.

When you're finished creating all the new team boards M0nty could you just fix their order? Keep up the good work mate.

Yep, all done now. I've renamed the General board as AFL.

Sounds good mate, i think that's pretty much it as far as anything that needs to be done on the new boards.

Monty

I was thinking it would be good to have another forum under SC & DT forums.  Strategy.... where you post different thoughts about DT & SC playing strategies.  Its not where you post teams and ask about players, but purely discussion on strategies of each game.

Yes/No??

I am getting a bit sick of seeing the same team over and over

Sounds good

I agree, I think this year has been one of the worst with almost every good team being the same.

I feel its a year for a completely different strategy.  It's either gonna pay off or fail miserably.

I've given up reading any of the rate my team posts. there are too many to look at and they all literally have 80% the same players. if i posted my team, it would only have maybe 50% same players at a max.

agree with the new section if possible.

Hi Monty

We were wondering if we could have a new board titled 'Trades' or something similar for SC and DT. Somewhere that we can discuss trades that we are considering and get feedback.

Cheers

PS Great website - am totally addicted!

Yeah m0nty this would be a good idea, creating all of these new boards should remind people to use he child boards instead of being lazy and ALWAYS using the general board.

also like the idea of a trades board during the season.

sorry if i have caused any problems with suggesting new boards (or encouraging others). seems since i have joined, there have been the addition of a couple of new sections.

:'(.

it might but during the season there will be more like who should i trade out for who. or is this guy worth trading out for. i reckon strategy should be more for the overall game.
Title: Re: Board arrangement issues
Post by: valkorum on March 28, 2010, 08:39:37 AM
I think there are 2 parts to strategy in the game.  Getting your initial squad sorted and then how you will use your 20 trades during the season.
Title: Re: Board arrangement issues
Post by: Justin Bieber on March 28, 2010, 08:40:40 AM
could go in there.

but people might post their trade talks in the players section.

Well I think the guys who think about where to post it should put it into strategy except all of the nuffies will just think, oh I'm trading players, must go in the players board... :-\

Surely trading is pretty much Player x v player y?

I don't think so, say if Brendon Goddard does his knee and ends his season, and someone (an idiot) says they want to trade him out for Presti..

So it would be Goddard v Presti, and Presti will score more, so Presti would always win....

Extreme example, but you get the point.

Hey m0nty.
I was thinking to sort of merge the DT/SC- Private League Boards? So that like DT Leagues could be a sub-board on private league? I was thinking about this because of all the new boards and sub-boards etc.
Title: Re: Board arrangement issues
Post by: Alex7089 on March 29, 2010, 12:40:05 AM
I think this will cause people to stop looking at the leagues board and newbies might not be able to find it.

I think that we should leave it as it is.

yeah ossie brings up a good example. if it is suppose to be a downgrade or getting rid of an injured player, you can't really compare them with a premium. might need M0nty to have the final say i guess.

I think of it this way. I'm OK about it if you don't agree.

If you've decided who has to go, and why, next thing is you're thinking about who to bring in.

There are likely to be x, y and z who could fit your side, and maybe you'd want to discuss the pros and cons of each. So, x vs. y vs. z?

what about a section for posts like these?

players section can be for single players only (MP would love this).

Now, THAT I agree with, the first in a way implied that X player would be injured player/player being traded and Y player would be prospect player to bring in, asking people if the trade was a good idea and whether to make it, in this scenario it suggests that you have decided to make the trade and you don't know who to bring in.

I think it's fine as it is, to keep the two comps apart. Otherwise there will be confusion over which codes are for which comps.

Yup. I should have said this long ago...
Thanks M0nty for taking into consideration of my ideas for a casual place for me and others to rant that does not interfere with the other SC and DT stuff.

This has helped me a lot and my pm's of an offensive nature since I have returned to my real name are down to 1 person.
The thing is sometimes I wanna talk about footy, and omfg I love my footy, and then there are times I love to just rant and rave especially being female lololol. Love 'The Front Bar' and also love posts do not count there :)
Awesome M0nty Cheers

Hmm, not a bad idea. But some competitions are tied to specific boards. I can't run one thread in two boards at once. Do I just have a stickied list of comps relevant to that board in that board, which all link to the Competition board?
