Kai's Pies - Currently ranked 80.
Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Grimes, Adcock, Deledio, Heppel, Lower (Stanley, Puopolo, Otten)
Mids: Pendlebury, Selwood, Boyd, Rockliff, Mitchell, Curnow (Libba, Harris, Hibberd)
Rucks: Cox, Sandilands (Smith, Keefe)
Forwards: Fyfe, N Riewoldt, J Riewoldt, Johnson, Franklin, Petrie, Darling (Matera, Tapscott, Krakouer)
I will have 17 trades left after i bring in Puopolo and Mitchell tonight for Duigan and Cotchin.
My trading plan:
Rd 8 - Matera > ???? (will decide when the time is right)
Otten > Shaw (I'm pretty certain my funds available will cover this trade.
15 trades remaining
Rd 14 - Harris > ????
Libba > Swan
Finishing my Midfield with Curnow as a reserve for the rest of the year.
13 Trades remaining
Rd 17 - Otten, Puopolo or Tapscott > ????
Krakouer > Pavlich
11 Trades remaining
Rd 20 - Petrie - Goodes
10 Trades remaining
Rd 23 - Heppell > Enright
9 Trades remaining
Obviously I don't plan on finishing the year with 9 trades but they are for LTI's, Drop in form and extra upgrades like S johnson to Chappy.
My question to you guys is am i going hard enough at getting a finished team or should i be looking to move Goodes and co in earlier? Or am I going to hard over the next few weeks?
My biggest worry about bringing in people early is that I don't want to fall away in the multi bye rounds. With this plan i wont have any more than 2 Premiums out in any round. 1 in each position. I have 3 out in each of the multi bye rounds, again 1 in each position.
Am I over thinking the bye's too much. The reason i'm in a strong position now is that i've had good cover when all the byes have taken place, especially in the multi bye round?
I've never been in this position so all the help you can give would be great.
Thanks.
That is a very very good team!
So what you want to do now, is to try and complete your team as soon as possible. Get those premiums in and start pumping out massive scores quickly to try and catch first. As you can see, with your plan, you will have 9 trades left. That is tons. You can use some extra trades to get premiums in early and still be left with a good 5 or so for LTI.
First move should be grimes > enright.
Second could possibly be matera > i.smith (if named)
Then next week, use that cash to get otten > shaw or darling > goodes. (or if you have the cash, tapscott > goodes)
second trade being harris to a rookie (gold coast have a bye the next week)
Week 9: lower to premium or petrie to pavlich and
Downgrade someone
week 10: get the other premium or pav in.
Heppel may be a keeper so hold onto him while he performs.
week 11: krak/tapscott (if you used darling to get goodes that is) down to rook (mzungu?)
j roo to chappy?
week 12, hold.
week 13, rook down, libba > swan.
Something along the lines of this. I think this will leave like 5 trades for LTI. Don't follow it exactly, obviously many many things could go wrong during the season. Just showing aggressive trading. Good luck!!!
Thanks mate. I really appreciate your feedback. I'm up to 67 now. Going along nicely. The last couple of days I have really considered being more aggressive and trying to get a really good team together as fast as possible.
There are a couple of things I would do differently to your plan though.
I'm not keen on Enright. I already have the 2 cats. So I'm thinking Shaw but both will a average about the same.
Rawlings is another I'm considering for my back line as I'm now going for overall I'm not concerned by his finals bye.
Brennan is someone I'm considering. Finishes his byes in round 9. Scoring well. But he is a risk. Instead of Goodes but I will wait and see.
I like Pav in rd 17 for Petrie. It gives me one less bye to cover.
I also like Enright in for Heppel in Rd 22.
But things will probably change. Weeks like this week are always going to change my plan.
Thanks again.

If you're ranked 67th overall in the country, why bother about who misses finals?! Just keep building your team it should be strong enough to beat anyone in league matches... good luck trying to win the car.
I reckon you are being a bit stingy with your trades. You are going for overall so you should be trying to premiums into your side as soon as possible to get a leg up on the competition. Obviously this week you'll be looking at Grimes and Curnow but next week or the week after are perfect to get in Chappy and/or Goodes for Matera/Tapscott/Darling. That way, you'll have higher scoring players scoring for your team for longer giving you a greater score overall.

Yet 8th on the DreamFactory league ladder - what's going on there?
Not sure Prospector. I cant really work that out. I will make my move up the ladder, just luring you all into a false sense of security. Lol
Ok by the looks of everyones comments i need to get a finished team ASAP. Will do. I will still have 8 or 9 trades left with a finished team. Touch wood.
What did you end up doing?
I went Grimes down to Jacobs and Curnow up to Swan.
Back line looks horrible but with the way they have been scoring this year i don't see it as a disadvantage. Over the next few weeks i will upgrade down back. My team is almost finished. Im going for everything now. I hope I don't get to many LTI's and run short on trades.
Team looks like this now.
Kai's Pies - Currently ranked 67.
Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Adcock, Deledio, Jacobs, Heppel, Lower (Stanley, Puopolo, Otten)
Mids: Pendlebury, Selwood, Boyd, Rockliff, Mitchell, Swan (Libba, Harris, Hibberd)
Rucks: Cox, Sandilands (Smith, Keefe)

killer team Kai best of luck taking down the overall ;)
Good trade. Great team, wishing you the best of luck!!!
good work hows this week goin so far
So far I'm on 1105, Swan as captain but out of the 11 left I have 10 premiums and Lower to go. Should still score really well. Fingers crossed.
yeah sounds like u will get a decent score... again :D
great team! How'd you score this week?
I got 2062. It's not a bad score. Had a few let downs this week. Mitchell was a massive let down as was lower.
Nice one, you will probably rise a few ranks. I got 2067 and am ranked 286 so hopefully I can jump into the top 200.
36 Kai's Pie's Kai 8 67 $9,904,400 2,061.38 2,062 16,491
KAIS PIES! Fantastic Job mate! Ranked up to 36th. Keep doing what your doing.
Great job!
I am guessing a back upgrade this week is necessary?
How many trades do you have left Kai?

awesome team kai, i reckon still need patience with getting the 'best' upgrade for your backs.
good luck mate!
Thanks everyone. I'm really happy.

How many trades do you have left Kai?
Here in lies the problem. I have 15 left. While normally I'm not a fan if trading quite so much so early I think it's allowed me to get in to a stronger position. As you can see my team is mostly complete with another 2 premium backs and a premo forward my team would be solid. Although with the way Darling, Krak, Stanley and the likes going well, filling these spots up straight away may not be necessary. My biggest problem is I have no idea what I should be doing now. Do I trade hard? Or do I sit back for a while? If any one has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.
Kai, i am ranked 744 so not nearly as good as you i am thinking of trying to get my team as set as possible, as cash cows max out i have been trading, i check all my cash cows BE's if they dont look like they can atleast hold value i ship them out
I have been thinking of trading hard and finishing my team off in 3 weeks and leaving myself 9 trades for LTI and finals. If I go down this path I will go
Rd 9 - Tapscot to Smith
Otten to Suckling
Rd 10- Matera to Lynch
Lower to Shaw
Rd 11- Libba/Harris to Mzungu
Krakouer to ?
I'm just not sure if this is the correct path. I don't want to crash and burn late in the season.
What do you guys think?
suckling + shaw are a bit of a punt for consistency, but should be worth the shot. With those round 11 trades I'd probably be looking at chappy myself.
i like the look of ur projection Kai...
what u may want to do is checkout the teams ranked above u and who of those ur looking at bringing in do they have...
if ur getting the same players in that they already have u wont be making headway...
its a pain in the bottom way to do it but imo i cant see anyone coming from further back than 250th now as sides r settling :-X
the only issue i'd be worried about for you is will you have enough trades for LTI/injuries generally?
i upgraded Knights on prior to rd8 and i felt really weird upgrading a mid-pricer with a bit more room for improvement without any current inj concerns ...
not meaning to put doubt in your mind, just something to consider ...
9 trades for half a season (esp with general soreness to rear its ugly mug in the latter stages) might be doing it tough??
trust your own gut kai, but Marcz suggestion sounds great!
I'm almost certain I will risk running out of trades late in the season. I may never find myself in this position again so I'm going to risk everything.
I do like the advice of picking up players who others don't necessarily have. But it does make it a little hard especially in the backs.
With all of this in mind I'm just about certain this is what I will be doing.
I have 72,800 in the bank
Rd 9 - Harris to Smith
Otten to Suckling
$92,900 remaining
Rd 10- Tapscot to Lynch
Lower to Enright
$47500 ish remaining (This depends on if Lower goes up and Enright goes down)
Rd 11- Matera to Mzungu
Krakouer/Darling to Hopefully Sylvia.
Only having 9 trades left will suck but I have my fingers crossed that this team will push to the number 1 spot. My DPP capabilities will be a bonus too. With a little luck I will have excess trades to do things like Petrie to Pav, J Roo to Chapman and Heppel to Shaw.
Thanks. Fingers crossed.
so, what would that leave your team as?
:-X
Sounds like a good plan kai, stick with it!
Only thought would be going tapscott to mzungu instead of lynch as mzungu should be back by then and will be handy cover for the rest of the season I would think.
Getting Callinan in over Lynch could be good. I think you probably have to get Mzungu as you're planning to get him in, but if you wait a week or two for Callinan to be named he's ~40k CHEAPER than Lynch AND MPP. That 40k you save on Callinan will get you a much high quality prem and make Sylvia not a "hopefully"
Ok I've changed my mind again on what I'm going to do. Lol. I've decided that I don't want Suckling this week. This is what I shall do.
Rd 9 - Harris to Smith
Otten to Shaw
Shaw is going to well and I think he will be right up the pointy end of defenders this year.
Rd 10- Tapscot to Mzungu
Stanley to Scotland
I like Scotland as a point of difference he will finish in the top 7 defenders this year. The only thing that bothers me is having Gibbs in the backline too and getting rid of the guy I had decided to keep all year as my 8th back. But I'm sure I'll be fine with Jacobs, Lower and the Poo back there. I have the flexibility to swing hibberd in there too, if he continues to get games.
There is a slight chance I may go Lower to Suckling but im not sold on him yet. Another good score and it might just sway me.
I'm not going to do a forward line trade for a little while. I think Darling and Krakouer are good for that 7 and 8 forward.
I decided last night. I want the best I can get in upgrades there is no point getting guys who are averaging 10 points less per game.
I've decided
I'm not sure why I wrote I've decided. But as I'm working from my I phone I can't seem up get down to remove it.
shaw sounds like a good upgrade
Ok, this weeks trade will be Tapscot to Mzungu and Otten to Shaw with $100 left over. I will re evaluate next weeks trades. I'm hoping Smith gets named and I can go Harris to Smith then upgrade another back, but I'm concerned about Smiths job security. I know Mzungu is playing his first game but I rate his job security higher, considering they got him straight in as soon as he was fit. So my team is as follows.
Backs: Deledio, Goddard, Gibbs, Shaw, Heppel, Adcock, Puopolo (Stanley, Lower, Jacobs)
Mids: Swan, Pendelbury, Boyd, Selwood, Mitchell, Rockliff (Libba, Harris, Hibberd)
Rucks: Sandilands, Cox (Smith, Keeffe)
Forwards: Franklin, N.Riewoldt, J.Riewoldt, Johnson, Fyfe, Petrie, Darling (Mzungu, Matera, Krakouer)
Great looking team mate.
I think Enright or Rawlings for a unique will finish off your backline nicely and Chapman is the obvious missing element in your forward line.
Just a thought â€" As you have Petrie with a ruck link, why not downgrade Zac Smith to Tippett when Smith has peaked.
The healthy amount of cash you get from that trade hopefully will be enough for you to upgrade Stanley/Lower straight to Enright/Rawlings and in the same week upgrade Darling/Matera to Chapman.
This might save you a trade, as well as there will be three trades instead of two lots of downgrade/upgrade=four trades.
How'd you go this week Kai?
I scored 2304 dropped to 54 overall.
I have a few small dramas, Rockliff is a bit of a worry and Mitchell is starting to piss me off. Not too mention bringing Shaw in this week. I knew that would happen.
Made a selection mistakes, played the poo over Lower. Cost myself 70 points.
Swan as captain was disappointing too.
I'm 314 points behind the leader. There is a fair gap now. Still going for it though.
314 is still makeable since there is 15 more rounds. I'm 334 away and I reckon I can make it.
I agree mate, im not out of it yet.
No trades this week. I have decided to hold for the week as I'm not so keen on the downgrade options.
I have thought about Harris to I Smith and upgrade another back but I might hold for a week.
Haha mate I was just looking at the teams near me in overall and I am beating you by 1 point!!
holding your spot mate... keep up the good work... both of you!
hopefully in a few rounds i can join you.
