Anyone play this game?
yea i do its great :)
what is it?
a footy game that you can download from the internet where you more manage your team instead of play as them.
You do endless amount of seasons with a draft trade week and a real in depth and realistic footy game really it is great i have a team where i have gone in nearly so many seasons that i have no original players :) i will give you the link but it only has the 2008 lists at the moment but you can redraft players. http://www.footyfanatic.net/download.htm

Precisely, there is 2010 lists that have been created that you can download off different places but no 2011 as the people who made the lists on from 2008 were not the creator so they cAnt change the code to the fixture
how do you get the 2010 lists?

Some people have tried to make ones but in order to do that the whole fixture of the game would have to be changed meaning that the games code would, so without the developer of the game it pretty much can't be made
After downloading them, how do I get them on the game?
I'm not smart with computers. :P
you go into the game and then go into the utilities button on main menu then you go and click import rosters and click create new then name it and then find it in your computer and make sure you select the season stats.mdb or what ever it is. Hope you understand cause i am not the best at explaining things :)

Oi, guys ive got the 2011 version i currently am playing on carrer mode which i made, but it dosent have gold coast on it and i have another list where if you wanted to do a redraft of the players i added like 20 gold coast players to the game. Let me know if u want it.

Thats the 2011 one without Gold Coast!

Thats the 2011 one with goldcoast but only for redraft!
thanks heaps mate, i have been hoping to find a 2011 list with gold coast players for ages :)
Essentially, I've decided to write out a 2013 roster for footy fanatic (the game). What I'm struggling with is rating some of the players and positioning them. If anyone would like to volunteer as much or as little of their time to help me out, I'd love them to bits.
For those who care, so far I've added every player to the database. Right now, I'm playing a career with the 16 teams minus GC/GWS and updated players. Each player has been updated with correct height/weight/position 1, 2 & 3/key or non key/career games, new players (since '09) have had their junior details added and debut years, rookies are listed as so, player numbers are correct, players are matched to their teams and I've scaled back debuts and birthdates so they appear in game at the start of a save as old as they currently are.
That's the boring, dense, awful stuff. What I haven't done is the semi-fun part; rating the players. If anyone wants to help with that, it'd be great.
I'm happy to upload my current database for anyone to use - it'd mean you could rate the players and not have to add them in. I've got two - one with the 16 teams, and one with the 18 teams. I'm sure you could move things around such that the suns/giants were included in the 16 career mode teams. I intend to see if I can edit the game so it's an 18 team league but I'm not sure if I could, I doubt it.
I do intend to upload the complete product for anyone to use once I've done the ratings too, and I'll leave an email in case the upload site fails/downloading fails, then I can just re-upload. I do plan to continue this for 2014 etc. if there's sufficient usage !
Anyway, what I'm here to ask: does anyone want to just rate a list of players out of 100 for me? Ablett'd be a 98/99, Watson a 95, franklin a 97 but someone like Ed Curnow only a 75 or something. A 2nd round draftee would average about 55.
All good if nobody's keen but it wouldn't take long and it'd help me out heaps, especially for clubs I'm not too familiar with. Doesn't require game knowledge, just afl knowledge! You'd just take a team list of afl players and rate them. Let me know if you plan to help me out though in advance so I can give you the list to make it a lot quicker (as it has to be in a certain format which sucks - so if I gave you the list in advance it'd cut down my time in adding ratings and your time as you wouldn't have to type out names, only ratings :p)
Sapientia.
Nobody keen to help?
I've got about 65% of this done so far. I'm looking at releasing 2013 rosters in 10-14 days, for those who were interested - not many it seems.
If anyone wanted to help me out it'd be much appreciated, but if not, that's fine too I guess.

Hey mate, if you look above I made the 2011 lists by myself even though there was a few mistakes.
Great job so far. It'll be good to just play them on practice or even do a fantasy draft ;D
What teams haven't been done? And what do I have to do? Actually edit their skills on footy fanatic, or just tell you each players overall and their position or something?
It's much easier that I just edit the core skills I think, but I want to ensure they're, combined, a realistic representation of the player. So really, I'd just ask people take an AFL list and give me perceived overalls, nothing beyond that.
Any club; the greater the sample the better - although I've got no second opinion on the Magpies, Hawks, Giants, Suns, Power, Saints or Swans so I'd prefer them. Positions I've already got, all I'm trying to ensure is unbiased and realistic ratings so the more samples and opinions the better.
So yeah, any club for anyone who wants to help, really. If anyone does decide to, try and (don't try too hard though :p) centre the ratings of the top 22 so the average is about 80. So far I've had 10 people help me with different lists and all of them without me telling them this have had the mean of the top 22 = between 79 and 82 so I think people centre it around there without meaning to which is good but yeah :)

Okay yeah I'll see how many I can do out of Magpies, Hawks, Giants, Suns, Power, Saints or Swans.
I'll post them here when I'm done.
What are you looking for in terms of percentage of players over 90, 80 and 70 and so on. Also what's the lowest a player can be rated? I've done GWS, but might need to make some adjustments after I hear the answer.
You're a champion mate.
I've not gone for any set distribution so far and it's gone well so far, I've just rated/had people rate players as far as they deserve. As long as the mean of the top 22 is between 77 and 84 I'm happy. I've done collingwood and theirs is 82.9 so far while Melbourne's is 77.9 and the rest lie between 79.2 and 81.7 without even trying to. Hope that makes sense. Don't worry about calculating the mean of those players either; I've got a little thing that will calculate it automatically and scale different echolons of players into the right zones if it's a little biased; all I'm looking for is the 'relative' difference between players; I can scale easily.
Just trust your gut, really. I'll scale it if need be! Lowest for a best 22 player so far is about ~70 while the spuds rate 45-50. Pendlebury/Selwood are 96/97 etc.
Here's my first one. Maybe could've rated some lower, if the spuds must be 45-50 :-\

Okay anymore to do? I'm fine to do any more if you want me to?
Thanks a bunch, mate. Fantastic effort and it'll help me a ton.
Any list from any club helps in some way in reducing the amount of personal bias, but I don't want you to waste your time. Awesome stuff man, seriously. Love you right now.
Sapientia.
Below is where I'm at - feel free to ask questions, comment on things that just don't look right or suggest feedback.
This is currently where I'm at. The scores don't take into account structure, for the record - so a team like the dogs will have a lot of mids included in their rating but when it's time to name a team it'll fall as a higher rated mid would fall out for a KPF etc.
Overall: Average rating of the best 22 players
Top End: Average rating of the best 7 players
Mid Range: Average rating of the 8-15th players (8 players)
Low Range: Average rating of the 16-24th players (9 players)
Depth: Average rating of the 25-34th players (10 players)
Things that don't look right
- Port & North Melbourne being so low (OVR)
- Western Bulldogs being so high (OVR)
- To a lesser extent, Fremantle and Sydney being low (OVR)
- To a lesser extent, West Coast, Geelong and Richmond being so high (OVR)
- Collingwood and Carlton being so high on mid range. Lots of stars but the next batch aren't gun (MR)
- Western Bulldogs being high for mid range. They're carried by a good top echelon and alright reserves but the middle grade is distinctly average (MR)
- North being so low for mid range. I think they're 8-15th best are actually relatively good (MR)
- Sydney's low range. Their 22 has such depth, I'd probably have them top 3-4 for this, minimum (LR)
- Carlton's depth. This is a big one. Probably a result of Carlton being the first team I rated (DEPTH)
- Sydney's depth. It's better than that (DEPTH)
- The general overalls. They're 0.42 out from where I want them to be (mean of 80). Will be difficult trying to increase some teams to fix all the above yet decreasing others enough to make the global score go down (GEN)
OVERALL

imo Treloar for GWS should be more like an 81
He's pretty much one of their best 3 players IMO.
I've actually got him as an 82 on my personal list which will have some weighting. He'll end up closer to 80 than 75, I'd say

Yeah I guess 80 is good then.
Anything else I need to do?
Nothing more really I've just got to put everything in.
If you'd like though, test the rosters for me when they're done just so I can fix any errors before properly releasing. I'll probably have a few doing that though so if you didn't want to/time was an issue that's fine too.
That's open to anyone here, for the record :)

Yeah I'd test the rosters, I just can't wait to play it :D
Awesome work mate!
Pretty much everything's prepared now. I've got all the player info in, all the overalls prepared and now I've just got to edit each player's specific abilities and centre to overall.
3/18 teams done already so hopefully it's done by the weekend. I'm an optimist!

That would be awesome. Good work and if you want me to test it, I'd be happy to
I'd love it. I'll get you the deets (and anyone else who was keen; message me!) when I'm done.
This is my 2nd draft balance sheet so far
(http://gyazo.com/f1a5f8e9f517fc3686d7e486188a29c3.png?1365576176)
I think that's pretty fair, for now at least. The weighted ranks place a heavier reliance on elite players as really, why should the 22nd player have the same influence on the overall skill of the team as the first in my opinion.
If there's any feedback/criticism with how it's shaping, let me know and I'll try and address it :)
That's pretty much spot on, again you've done an awesome job ;D
I tell you what would be good, if we could get in contact with the developer of the game so we are able to have Gold Coast and GWS in the game. It would be awesome ;D
I've tracked him down on footytips I believe and messaged him (a week ago, he's not been online though) so hopefully in doing the lists it might take a load off of him and he'd be able to do it. It wouldn't be difficult, he'd have to edit fixtures and a few things within the game but given the code exists it wouldn't be complex.
If I could grab the source I'd give it a go with my own basic skills (as I seriously think it'd be quite a simple task) but in the time it'd take to give me the source he could probably do it himself with considerably less risk of IP theft.
Hopefully he's happy to. Hosting updated rosters on his website & GC/GWS being in game would hopefully bring more traffic and enough donations to justify it.

Oh awesome ;D that's a lot better than I thought. Hopefully he can help us ;D
Great work, i'd be happy to offer any help. Although it seems like you two have covered most of the necessary work.
Any news in it Sapientia?
Still plugging away. It's really, really bland doing all the teams so I'm a bit behind where I expected. Struggling for motivation but pushing through.
In all the test runs pretty much key defenders are offensively dominating. Any idea as to how I could tone this down?

Yes I used to have this problem, very annoying >:(
One thing I found was that the the higher your health was the more disposals you got (probably because you stay on the field longer) so I'd make Ablett and all the ball magnets 99 health. Maybe try lowering the health of hey defenders could be m only suggestion.
Yeah, I'll try a few things. Like, Talia gets 30 touches in my trials and I'd intentionally set his offensive stats low ugh.
Cheers.

Yeah it's pretty frustrating. That's one thing I always wanted to be fixed up. Hopefully you can do the best you can so the key defenders don't rack up soo much of the ball. In reality Talia will be lucky to get 10 disposals.
Yeah. It's a balance of nerfing the key backs so they're not offensively brilliant but still allowing them to defensively be sound.

McDonald was the puppet in this - I kept him as is and edited the others. It's either in the run%s or cl/cr stats. Reckon the latter. Loving this, personally. Reckon I've cracked it.

Testing the redraft option. Any idea why I get error 70 when I go to do it?
Edit: just started a season and I get error when it goes to do contracts too. I've checked the DB and there's no error in contracts - I set everyone on a 1 yr 50K contract just so people could elect to manage them themselves.
Ugh. Pulled an all nighter on this stuff; so frustrating when it doesn't work.
Edit 2: It's error 3021. Occurs when simming through contracts (the game just shuts) but if you re-open and re-load one can manually go past so it's only an error while simming. So annoying!
Anyone have any knowledge?

Awesome work! Sorry I have no idea about that as well. I had the same problem when I done the 2010 lists. Do you reckon it has anything to do with having GWS and Gold Coast?
Also just copy the lists and make another then delete GWS and GCS and see how it goes in career mode.
I am trying to play this but the megaupload links aren't working, can I have some help
Can you play this on Mac laptops yet?
I doubt it.
