So andrew and I were wondering if anyone would be up to doing another soccer draft, but instead of picking the best players that are still playing when they were at their peak we would be picking a team that would play well and dominate for seasons. So like the dynasty drafts people have been doing for the NBA.
Andrew says he will then create all the teams and do a simulation on FM to see what happens.
So anyone keen?

sure im up for it :D
Ok so that's 3. Hoping for at least 8 I reckon
what so is it like picking young guys ?
We,ll do a 5 season thing. So you need to pick the best team over a 5 yr period. So judging ablility ad potential is a big thing in this. Overratig some of the older guys is a big mistake though from past exeriences
I would join if I knew anything about current football and newer-ish players......
Put me in for now, but might not be able to do it.
For this you don't actually need to pick new players such as teenagers or 20 year olds, since most players peak in their mid to late 20's. You would also want some older people in the team for experience
im a maybe .... depends wen it starts
Hopefully will start soonish. Depends how many people want to do it...
well nxt wk on monday im movin states but should have internet by wednesday or thursday..i could get pyro to pick 4 me tho cos he is on most of the time

Well my knowledge on positions of players nowadays are a bit off ;). I can give it a go although wouldn't stand a chance against the Football knowledge of you guys....
ill give it a crack havent done one of these in a while
Ok nice zz.
That makes 7 of us, hopefully one more and then we can join.
I'll see if shaggy wants to do it :)
or MTTY, does he know anything soccer wise ? Also i think McR does too
Reckon you could PM them and see if they are interested zz?
yeh sure thing
All right, count me in I guess.
Alright nice. That makes 8 which I think is a good enough number to get this done.
I have just done a random draft of the 8 names and this is what came up.
1. BoredSaint
2. Andrew
3. MajorLazer
4. chrisuzz
5. CrowsFan
6. hawka26
7. 8-6 Suited
8. Hellopplz

Ok so that is the first round, the second round is then reversed and so on.
Remember you are trying to pick a team that will play well together and win things for many seasons, not just the best players as they may not work well together/are old and wont play well in a few seasons.
Goodluck :)
1st pick for me eh..
dont think this will surprise many.. gotta pick the little maestro
Lionel Messi.
Making his debut in the 2004â€"05 season, he broke his team record for the youngest footballer to score a league goal. Major honours soon followed as Barcelona won La Liga in Messi's debut season, and won a double of the league and Champions League in 2006. His breakthrough season was in the 2006â€"07 season; he became a first team regular, scoring a hat-trick in El Clásico and finishing with 14 goals in 26 league games. Messi then had the most successful season of his playing career, the 2008â€"09 season, in which he scored 38 goals to play an integral part in a treble-winning campaign. This record breaking season was then eclipsed in the following 2009â€"10 campaign, where Messi scored 47 goals in all competitions, equalling Ronaldo's record total for Barcelona.
Messi was the top scorer of the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship with six goals, including two in the final game. Shortly thereafter, he became an established member of Argentina's senior international team. In 2006, he became the youngest Argentine to play in the FIFA World Cup and he won a runners-up medal at the Copa América tournament the following year. In 2008, in Beijing, he won his first international honour, an Olympic gold medal, with the Argentina Olympic football team.
:D
Sweeeeett
Clear top 5 imo.
Also, there has to be a write up and picture :)
Bet you're pleased you got pick 2 andrew?
Course I am, Just going to get some food. Hope BS has done his little write up before I come back.
done
i love wiki
My pick may be a bit strange, but really not sure.
Having number 3 pick has some pressure ML :P
It really does. Not sure if I should go best player or the best player to build around. (Yes I think they are different. ;))

Agree that they are different things. Will be interesting to see if everyone starts going for youth since it is a dynasty

I may go for experience this pick. Or just skill. ;)
Number 3 I think is clear, but 4 and 5 is a lot tougher.
Pick up in a sec.
I obviously take
(http://images.football.co.uk/Dynamic/Group/Source/611cef4a702db0b0e7883714dbeb8cb2.jpg)
Ronaldo is the most complete forward in the game. Ronaldo gives me everything in a forward, and for that, I am thrilled to have him in my team. Unless I draft poorly, I am guareented to have at least the 2nd best forward line and at least the 3rd best team. That's how good he is. In his last 200 app, he has scored 147 goals. This season, he is on track for his best season ever. 37 goals, 18 assists in 43app.
He will be leading the line in my 4-3-3 formation, as his ability to spearhead any attack he has been in, will come very valuable.
Team so far:
ST: Ronaldo
flowering hell. Take your pick already...
Very obvious number 2 there. Will be very happy if the guy I am thinking of slips to 5 :)

It's not clear to me.
Also may not be able to post a write up right now. On laptop and it runs really slow.
Shouldn't of said it was clear, but I would say 1 is better then the other 2.
Just post it then and do it another time, but make sure you do it :)
Will do. Still deciding on a player.
I pick a Spanish player that isn't too old, but has World Cup experience.
Iniesta.
Very nice player there. In my opinion he does deserve to go at 3
Perfect pick :)
Thanks guys. Wasn't sure if I should pick him or two other similar players.
Damn it. :P
He never would have, well never should have, made it to me in with Pick 7 but I wanted him.
Haha you are correct there shaggy cos if he had made it to pick 5 I would have taken him :P
Well I guess zz will make his pick tomorrow. Hopefully it is in the morning so I can make mine before going off to uni
I have work piling up next few weeks so will try to be on to make my picks. Don't know alot so cut me some slack with my picks as they'll be coming from anywhere :P.
Haha fair enough HP. Lucky you get to do both your picks together then if you wont be on as much ;)
My writeup for Iniesta should be up tonight. Have to do some homework.
Off topic kinda, but are we going to do the US Soccer Manager League?
one question before my pick, what is a good age bracket to pick players ?
Totally up to you. Some players can play well far into their 30's, e.g Giggs, Scholes, Maldini etc, but others can't. Just need to decide if you think they will still be playing at a high level in a few years time ;)
alright well, not sure if it's the best pick but im gonna snap up Xavi Best CM/AM in the world currently and should go on and play well till an old age
Made the tuf decision between youth and experience ;)
He should be good for another 1-2 seasons in my opinion. But nice pick.
My write up on my player will be up shortly ;)
was tossing up between him and another ;)
anytime CF :D
Ok with pick number 5 I'm sure you will find this one pretty obvious. Could have gone 4 if zz had decided to go with youth. I pick another Spanish midfielder:
At only 23 Fabregas is already a massive star. The heir to Xavi as the midfield playmaker in the national team, his ability to control a game and pick out a pass is probably only second the Xavi at the moment. Not the biggest of goal scorers from central midfield, but the number of goals he creates is amazing. He will sit in the centre for me and control the game all day long. He has managed to blend the skill of his Spanish roots with the physicality of the English game perfectly to become an outstanding allround midfielder
nice CF :D
exactly who i was gonna go with... but im not exactly sure bout this thing just yet
Ok so it is hawka's pick now. Hopefully he comes on soon...
I was hoping Fab would slip :'(. Good pick as he's a Star being so young already 8).
Is this draft a snake like all the others? ABBAABBA

pretty sure its 17.. and 18 :P

Il take yet another spanish player and barcelona player
David Villa
Not 30 yet...has probaly over taken *undrafted* spot as spains number 1 stiker ..had a great world cup and has dominated for barca this season and had a great game to goal ratio at valencia for 5 yrs

Lots of Spaniards going early! ;)
im having a bad day.. :-\
Shaggy and then me :D. Not sure if I should pick my first pick early but for a Dynasty, isn't half bad!
P.S I'm so bad at Soccer I have to use soccermanager for players :P.
Happens to everyone BS, especially when they try and correct me on things :P
Well HP you have 2 picks in a row so can get 2 quality players straight up :)

Well I'm just using it to see the players (not really going on rating for many). I've come up with my 2 picks but I'll come on later to do them as I'm off for a while now....
nah i have an idea on the players its just i didnt wana forget any1 so i took a quick scan :P
Haha fair enough.
By the way there was meant to be a smiley face after my last post to show I wasn't being serious :)
Pretty surprised Xavi went 4. I had him outside the top 10!! Just him being 31 of kind of hurts. Now it starts getting interesting though. There is a clear 6, then its jumbled. I had 6 as 4 fwiw.
We are actually up to pick 7 Andrew. Villa went at 6.
Shaggy is up now
Oh wow, really?
Can't believe he is still on the board.
I might get my write ups done waiting for Shaggy. If he chooses one of my picks (Pretty possible), I'll still post my write up for him :P.
Shaggy hasn't been online since 3.30 this arvo. That's not like him...
Also his pick in the NBA so guess tommorrow is when we get things rolling again 8).
Well I will be on for a while longer so you can leave your picks with me when you go just in case shaggy comes online ;)
iclock is 24 hours but I dt thik skipping is a good optio in the first round. But hope he doesn't take along
Yeah skipping in first round is just cruel!
Hopefully he will be on tonight, not like shaggy to not be on for a while!
nah 24 hrs is up at 6pm.. last pick was hawka
WHERE IS SHAGGY????????
Ok so apparently shaggy wont have internet for the next 15-20 days, so I say he is out of the draft.
You're up HP ;)
Just realised that HP left me his picks so here they are:
My first pick is going to a fairly small player but has pin point passing. The man who will lead my midfield will be Wesley Sneijder. Starting his career at Ajex, wasn't long until Real Madrid came calling. Now at Internazionale, he has scored many goals from free-kicks which have made be called a dead-ball specialist. In his first season with Inter, they won the Italian Treble (Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League). On top of of that, he was named by UEFA as the best club midfielder of the Champions League 2009â€"10 season. He was also shortlisted for the Ballon d'Or in the same year as well as being named in the World XI. Not to mention he played an intergral part in Netherlands World Cup run to the Final. He is a great playmaker and a great start to the team.
and
(http://soccerphotosbase.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Gerard-Pique.jpg)
My second pick will be the rock for my defence for years to come. At 24, he's already playing consistently for Barcelona as well Spain, where he won the big trophies last season (Fifa World Cup with Spain accompanied by La Liga with Barca two years running). Pique is a commanding presence down back and has the strength and experience to hold his position to be one of the best in the game today. He is a dominant player in defence and has been for seasons. Just last year he was not only named in the UEFA team of the year but also the World XI. He will lead my defence for the best part of the next decade so I don't mind picking him early.
Hawka you're up :)
Not Pique. :'(
I wouldn't pick a defender this early, esp not Pique, but ahwell.
hmmm this is tough lol ummmmm
Frank Ribery
(http://sportige.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/ribery_wob_468x345.jpg)
French middie/winger who has been descibred as 1 of the best french players of his generation..plays for bayern he will b my first pick in the midfeild
Ok very excited this guy is still here. My second pick is one of the best forwards going around today, and still only 25 so his best could still be ahead of him. Wayne Rooney ;D
(http://www.soccernews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Wayne-Rooney1.jpg)
Rooney is just about the complete forward, he is strong, quick, has a great shot and is one of the hardest working players going around. Rooney has always had talent, but when Ronaldo was still at the club he was playing second fiddle, often being forced to play out wide with Ronaldo the centre piece. But once CR7 left Rooney showed that the club would not miss his scoring, with Rooney 34 goals in just 44 matches in all competitions. He had a bad start to this season thanks to injury and his personal life, but has now rediscovered his fine form and will score many more goals before the season ends. Rooney will be the main man up front for my team :)
Rooney was my number 4. Was starting to think he will drop to me.
Quote from: CrowsFan on March 22, 2011, 09:39:25 PM

I had Cesc 4 and Rooney 5. Couldn't believe he came back to me :)
I had Cesc 5 because of his injury problems. Missing 10 games a season the way he is going.
Yeah fair enough. Would love to see him get over his injury problems, but it is the same with RVP. Arsenal rush them back since they need them so badly
yay movement in the draft..
the next few picks are going to be hard
Even though i'm not in it...
Robben, Lampard, Pirlo, Messi, D Villa, Nani, Iniesta
these should've been the first picked. Cant go pass Pirlo must say ;)
luigi.. we're talking about a dynasty here of 5 years..
i dont think lampard will last another 5.. neither will pirlo
Please do not put undrafteds here.
lol sorry my bad guys ;)

Will be shocked if Pirlo gets picked at all!
Zz is up me thik, he has 5 hours.
yeah zz is up but i think its more than 5 hours..
ill get it up in a sec :)
Okay ive made my secon pick a striker, only a young one and it was gonna be between him and undrafted. And ive decided to go with Gonzalo Higuain the 23 year old who has got heaps of room to improve, and is currently playing at Real Madrid. He scored a hat-trick in Argentina's 4â€"1 win over South Korea in their second group match being the first player to score a hat-trick in the tournament since 2002.
He also averages more assists ang goals per game than undrafted, averaging a bit over a goal every two games. He is a star of the future.
nice zz..
That means me right?
i think everyone know who undrafted is ?
yes. (referring to ML)
not sure (referring to zz)
:P
I pick another winger, except this one played against my first pick in the World Cup Final. That's right it's Arjen Robben.
As a left footed right winger, he has the ability to cut in and score from outside the box or inside if he wants to. Playing him opposite Iniesta will create amazingly strong wingers and dangerous also.
For Iniesta, I think this quote, by Vicente del Bosque sums Iniesta up. He described him as "the complete footballer. He can attack and defend, he creates and scores".
Didn't think Robben would go this early. His injuries are a huge problem. Will pretty much only ever get half a season from him, there is a reason his nickname is the glass man ;)
I know, but still think he's worth it. Didn't want to take undrafted. ;)
im hoping andrew takes undrafted cause ive got no idea who it is! :P
It could be anyone. Could even be me. :P
I forgot how annoying it is when everyone just keeps saying undrafted :P
Well don't want to give away anything. ;)
Quote from: chrisuzz on March 23, 2011, 05:39:31 PM

Pretty sure I know who undrafted is if you were comparing him to somebody similar ;).
I like Robben but too bad with injuries.
I think undrafted was being compared to Higuain.
well its between 2 players IMO
yes he was, and i believe hell get picked somewhere along the line
I think I know who it is and if it is there is a reason I didn't pick him.
Ghahhh.
I was snap calling Robben.
Pick will be up in a sec.
yay then its my pick.. hmm hard decision..
oh wait.. I HAVE TWO PICKS :D
I have to take:
With Robben gone, I must change my look on things. The most hardworking forward in the game, Tevez brings dribble, clinical finishing, genuine pace with a bullet of a finish. Top 5 forward imo and will be a great presence upfront.
You're up BS.
ok first of two picks:
Sergio (Kun) Aguero
(http://soccer-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Sergio-Aguero.jpg)
Blessed with superior speed and skill, Aguero lead Athletico Madrid to their first champions league in over 10 years in 06 and had since become one of the best young strikers in the world.
Second Pick:
Karim Benzema
(http://futbolmail.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/karim_benzema_real_madrid.jpg)
Originally from Lyon's youth academy, Benzema has since moved to Real Madrid where he has become more of a substitute for Higuin. But has thrived since becoming a regular this season due to the injury to Higuin.
3 strikers?
Aguero was who i was meaning by undrafted before :P ;)
no playing messi more in the middle.. as well as aguero.. as a wideish striker..
imagine like chelsea with kalou, anelka and drogba last season

Thought so. There is another that could've been brought up as well. Benzema's not too bad, but a little surprised.
Still a top 5 forward on board. That should've went before Aguero+Benzema.
Still deciding :)

i think i know who it is but i do not think he is top 5
anymore ;)
Gotta take Ozil, I think he is the 2nd best player on the board. 2nd best attacking midfielder in the world as far as I'm concerned and is only freaking 22. Great dribbling, great passing, great pace ( because he started his career as a winger). His finishing is a bit lolworthy but who needs finishing with Ronaldo+Tevez in the team?
How its set up:
He is, trust me.
nice.. didnt think he would drop to me after 16 picks but i wanted him
My pick is a great Spanish defender who is very young and I believe the best player for my team.
I pick Sergio Ramos.
also wanted him :(
Had to pick him instead of a striker. Already have a few decent attacking players.
yeh nice picks guys
Thanks Zz. You're up now, I think.
at this rate we could get through a few picks tonight :D
i think everyone is online
ahh really didnt think bout it sorry
I haven't thought about more than 1 of my picks!! Now to think about the other one....
I'll be on for a while.....
no point for me to start thinking about a pick.. ILL JUST GET DISSAPOINTED WHEN YOU GUYS TAKE THEM :P
Who are you going to pick Zz?
Buckets is a good pick.
ZZ picked busquets but put in on the wrong board ;D
I wouldn't have minded him, but went more defensive.
Quote from: chrisuzz on March 23, 2011, 09:48:04 PM
One of the best DMs in the world and he can also play as a CB a bit which gives variety to his team. At 22 he managed to start every game for Spain during the 2010, besides the last group stage vs the Swiss were they loss, (missingg Busquets id say ?) ;) Has got plenty of room to improve and is going to be an absolute star.
Sergio Busquets
Now CF is up, but not sure if he's online.
CF is on. Should I PM him?
yes
Hey guys sorry was away having dinner. Some interesting picks going so will update that soon. Just got to decide who I will pick now ;)
That's ok CF. Just hurry up. ;)
Ok with my next pick I will take another German superstar. Started his career as a winger and was thought he would become a star, however that never happened and was switched to more of a holding midfielder. His name is Bastian Schweinsteiger. Still only 26 years old so got plenty of good football ahead of Bastian made the switch to the central of the park with ease and is now one of the best holding midfielders going around. He will partner Cesc in the centre to make quite a formidable central partnership!
Nice pick, but a bit surprising as well. Thought you might take a different striker.
Hawka's up I believe.

Just about everyone is undrafted. PM if you want to. ;)
Only problem is Cesc and Schweini play simular roles in their team.
Well the formation I will be playing only requires one striker and I believe the way I set up Cesc and Schweini should work well together. We will see at the end though ;)
Don't know if Hawka is going to be on =\
was just thinking.. if this is run through FM.. then couldnt i just select the best FM players? :P
i dont play FM so dont know :(
You can if you want, but this isn't going to be decided by FM. Going to be decided likely by general consensus or poll. FM would be the last resort.
I'm also starting to build the database for this as well.
yeah ok..
I'm going with undrafted + undrafted/undrafted. Can't decide for my second pick :-\.
yeh but what if u choose undrafted will you then go with undrafted or undrafted ? :P
Just a question about doing it on FM. How are you actually going to make it work andrew? Are you going to make a new database where all our teams are in the same league and stuff? Seems very complicated to me...
Then again I created a whole new team on FM once with my mates as players and put them in the lowest English league and worked my way to the top haha
Quote from: chrisuzz on March 23, 2011, 10:53:39 PM

But undrafted is completely different from the other undraftees :P.
Guess I'll have to make a choice but it'd help if hawka chose one of the guys I'm tossing up between :P.
It's very easy.
Create a new compeition(league+Cup) and create the teams. Add those teams to the league. Then to make sure there are no transfers, I add all the managers to the game and click control transfers and then sim it.
Also, I suggest Luigi takes over from 8-6. We need 8 teams imo.
Ah right sounds very technical to me.
Alright let's ask Luigi if he wants to join :)
How big do you think our squads need to be? Or will you just fill the backup spots with randoms?
11+7
I was thinking maybe 10 subs to counter any injuries players get. What do you think?
yeh good idea CF
10 it is.
Each one will be worth points. For fun obviously.
I've set it up so we have these competitions
1.League-100pts
2.Straight 2 legged knock out cup-50pts
3.Group Stages+Knockout-75pts
Ok luigi has decided to join.
I have told him he can come on now and take 3 picks in a row. He can slip in where shaggy was meant to go so between me and hawka. Sound fair to everyone?
Yup. Was going to say the same thing :)
fine with me.
Yeah. Just hope he doesn't take any of my picks! ;D.

You'd hope so. ;)
Ok I have updated the first post to indicate what the order of picks will be for the next few so no one gets confused with luigi coming into the draft :)
Welcome luigi, good luck with your picks
Fernando Torres
Torres became the fastest player in Liverpool history to score 50 league goals after scoring against Aston Villa in December 2009. He left the club in January 2011 to join Chelsea for a record British transfer fee of £50 million, which also made him the most expensive Spanish player in history.
Torres is also a Spanish international and made his debut for the country against Portugal in 2003. He has since participated in four major tournaments, UEFA Euro 2004, the 2006 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro 2008 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Mario Gomez
A German footballer who plays as a striker for Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga. Gómez joined Bayern after six years in Stuttgart. The fee was a record for a player transferred in the Bundesliga, estimated to be 30â€"35 million euro. When Stuttgart became champions in 2006â€"07 and Gómez contributed 14 goals he was elected German footballer of the year.
Rafael van der Vaart
Van der Vaart is well known for his technical ability, the capacity to use both feet as well as his sometimes aggressive attitude on the Football pitch. Since moving to Tottenham, van der Vaart has been a prolific goalscorer in the Premier League.
--I Think they should be OK picks seeing all the options gone..
Nice picks Luigi :)
Surprised Torres managed to last this long. Yes he has been in poor form, but still he is an amazing player!
That's who I thought should've been taken earlier.
Gomez is spew only because of still, a top 5 forward left on the board. Torres is fine.
yes but although Undrafted is a top 5 striker. I believe there is a flaw that stopped me from picking him.
Also, with FM, maybe if you want to envolve points for reaching semi-finals etc and if you win a game in the league, its 1 point.
Just suggestions, you guys can decide.
My next pick is Alexandre Pato
signed with milan as a 18 yr old and is quite a good goal scoerer for them when he plays...he made his brazilan debut as a 19 year old and he can only get better from here
(http://www.fansfc.com/UploadedImages/Players/Pato_633806591327510000.jpg)
Nice pick hawka. Was hoping he'd slip further but wasn't one of my picks :D. Don't go anywhere as I'll have my picks up in 5-10 minutes :).
Very nice pick. I was gonna pick him but im a bit unsure of how long he can keep up his prime..

i wont haha wating for the teams to come in :)
I had him as my rf but changhed my mind, is almost as bad as robben whe it comes to injuries.
My third pick will be a well-travelled Striker who, despite a little age, is still near the top of his game. He is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona and now on loan at AC Milan where he is still producing results. Just 2 seasons ago at Inter he scored 25 goals in 35 league appearances (as well as 7 assists). 27 games this league season, he's amassed only 14 goals but combined with his 11 assists, makes him a well rounded forward. He will be spearheading my attack as he's an agile and strong striker to have.
My fourth pick goes to an up and coming Winger who can score. Pedro is quite small at only 169cm but his vision and pace make up for his height and strength. At 23, he will be coming into his peak shortly and has managed to crack into the Barcelona squad last season as well as the Spain squad during the World Cup last year. Bursting onto the scene last season, he scored 12 goals through 22 league matches. Fun Fact: "He is the only player to score in six different club competitions in one season - his three domestic tournaments, the UEFA Champions League, Super Cup and the Club World Cup". Continuing where he left off last season, he has managed to go one better with 13 goals this time around but 7 assists showing his passing ability.

Tossing up between 2 players for my pick. Can't really decide, so hopefully I can get both at some point...

Don't party too hard now, you have to last the rest of the week! ;D.

Haha it's not actually a party tonight. It is a dinner (with a couple of drinks).
I have an 8am lecture tomorrow morning :(
Yeah I will PM a couple. Although I might be able to check up occasionally on my phone, but wont put up a write up
Damn wanted Pato. Was really surprised Ibra dropped that low. Easily up there.
Robin van Persie
Clever, lithe attacker who can play as a striker or in the hole. Needs work on his heading ability but possesses every other tool in pace, finishing and long-range shooting.
--Sorry for the wait ;) It's SuperCoach time, what can i say :P
--I Think he is a decent option..
Yeah decent strikers, but probably even more injury prone than Robben!!
Gave HP my pick but since I am still here I will do it myself ;)
I am going to take a centre back with my next pick so that I will have the spine of my side all sorted :)
In my opinion this guy is easily one of the top 5 centre backs playing today, and because of his age, only 26, he is ahead of the others for this type of draft. He has been named the Serie A Defender of the year the past 3 seasons, which is a very impressive effort considering the number of top quality defenders the Serie A has. I pick:

do we choose keepers btw?
Yep. Need at least 2 in the 21 I suppose.
yes.
Who's turn is it
ZZ and then ML according to the Front Page.
I want to atleast get 1 of my picks in tonight.
I'll be on for a while so hopefully can get 2 picks in.
Wow this has been a successful night for this thread. Thanks a lot SuperCoach. ::)
jks :P
That sucked. Ah well.
Hopefully zz comes on soon to take his pick...
Ok at 6.30 tonight (40 minutes) zz gets skipped and ML can take his pick if he wants, unless he wants to wait for zz of course
i sent zz a pm just then
Oh good. I didn't realise he was online...
alright im on now :)
Sorry for the wait :( will make my pick soon :)
Alright ive decided to choose Nemanja Vidic, he will be playing in the heart of my defence in his favoured centre back position. Vidic is currently the best centre back in the world and will be for years to come, also has great leadership qualities captaining Manchester United. Along with many, league, cup, a champions league titl and a world club cup title, Vidic has recieve many other rewards.
In the 2008â€"09 season, he helped United to a record-breaking run of 14 consecutive clean sheets and was awarded the Barclays Player of the Season. He also collected both the club's Fans' and Players' Player of the Year awards. He was also named Barclays Player of the Season for 2008â€"09
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f3/Nemanja_Vidic.png)
Don't know if he will be for years to come, he is 28 now and starting to suffer from more and more injuries. Players like him also don't tend to last as long as others with their careers. But nice pick, he was on my list
nice zz :D
ML is up i think
He's arguably the Best CB in the World if not for his injuries nowadays :(. Hurts him a bit value wise but still a good pick to lead Defence short term.
FHJDHGSKAJDFHAHDGAGDS

Not entirely sure what you are saying there andrew ;)
A very successful round of picks today. Just 1 getting done! :(
I'm going to pick in the morning when I can think, but it hould be at around 10 am. That ok?
Oh you are online! Yeah that's alright ML I guess, just that both andrew and BS are online so we could get a few more done now...
Ok. For the good of the world game, I'll try and pick now.
Can you make sure they are actively online though?
I'm online brah
To play in the midfield for my team, I draft none other than Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite or Kaka.
Has lost a lot of that media attention moving from Italy to Spain, but that's only because Ronaldo moved to the same place. Was in the top 3 players not long ago, but has slowly lost that position. He will be played as an attacking midfielder.

Thanks HP. Needed a midfielder.

I'll complete my attacking quartet with the most promising talent in the world right now.
I'm obviously talking about
(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-pz2qH9Tw0Ls/TYFSWgnhBBI/AAAAAAAAB6c/vnCGdUPLalY/s400/Javier+Pastore+Midfielder+Palermo.jpg)
Javier Pastore
Attacking midfielder/Second striker is the biggest talent in the world and is already a fantastic player.
Setting it up so Pastore is my attacking midfielder and Ozil is my playmaker. Ronaldo will be drifting in and out of the wing with Tevez working hard upfront.
My picks:
Per Mertersaker
(http://img.skysports.com/08/10/218x298/PerMertesacker_1427397.jpg)
Michael Essian
(http://www.footballpictures.net/data/media/81/Michael-Essien-3.jpg)
Damn! Wanted Mertesacker. Essien would've been good as well.
Essien is a great team player as DM 8).
Andrew's up now. He was on and hope he's still on.
Deciding.
Dani Alves.
With my formation and style of play operating with wing backs, I take the worlds best WB. Perfect for my time and will give the width I need.
Damn was really hoping to pick up Javier Pastore :(
The others I wasn't all the fussed about...
Just deciding on my pick.
To play behind Kaka, I choose a youngish player that looks like he could be 30.
Moved from Liverpool to Barca and I personally haven't heard much about him since that move, but he plays the defensive mid role very well.
My Pick: Javier Mascherano
(http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Javier+Mascherano+Barcelona+v+Hercules+CF+c_1MnlDdAEZl.jpg)
alright im on now ill make my pick soon ;)
Wow not sure who to pickk... :-\ ???
ill be picking the first keeper best keeper in the game and will be for years to come Iker Casilias sorry not much of a write up if got to go out
was a chuck up between hjim and undrafted hope undrafted slips to me
way way way way way too early for a GK.
Really??, i wasnt sure :(
when do you reckon we should pick keepers.
i might load up on some defenders now
if its too early id change but thatd be unfair just gotta hope the guy i want doesnt get picked
Not going to say.
it wwould be unfair if i got to change, just gotta take it and hope my next guy doesnt get picked
Hmm I was actually thinking about taking a keeper with my pick but was going to be Casillas since he is so far ahead of the other keepers. Since he is gone I wont go a keeper now since I have plenty of others to pick from. Instead I will pick a right winger who is a massive prospect and really good at the moment. He has been lighting up the Italian each week with Udinese, which is a great effort considering he is only 22. He can also play as a striker, which is what I want in my wingers as I will want them to be cutting in to form a front 3 if that's where the weaknesses of the others are or drift wide to create space and whip in crosses. This guy has electrifying speed and great dribbling and crossing. Almost a younger Ronaldo without the strenth that CR7 possesses. I am talking about of course Alexis Sanchez!
nice CF :)
What's the sit everyone uses to create their team btw ?
this11.com
Casilas isn't even the best keeper in the world anymore, let alone in this format.
He is still up there and being 28 he still has years ahead of him.
What do you think of Sanchez andrew?
Sanchez is a weird one. This season he has played more of a upfront role rather than a wing role where he has done in the past. He is certainly up there but I feel there are better options available. He def has the talent but consistency has always been a big problem for him. Are you starting him as a RW/RF or a ST?
accidently put a ball on my formation and i dont know how to get rid of it :S
Most likely out on the right, with the aim of him cutting in. Pretty much exactly like what Ronaldo did when he was at United. I think his pace is better used out on the win. With my team I think I could be focusing a little too much on youth and what they will be like in 5 years instead of what they will be able to achieve during that time, but we will see how it goes :)

It all depends on how you want to play for who you will pick. There may be better players around, but would they do the role I want him to do as well as Sanchez?
I may play with a wide front 3, so still working out my options
yehh that's what i was thinking might go a 4-3-3, not sure whether ill go two DMs or two AMs
4-3-3 with 2 ams? good luck with that haha
well not AMs but like inside corridor u know ?
4-2-3-1 could work well will the plays i got so far i reckon also
Andrey Arshavin
The Russian playmaker proved almost instantly that he is a world-class talent who can make a big difference to this Arsenal side.
Andrey’s vision, technical ability and eye for goal give Arsenal an extra dimension and his versatility is another big plus. He started his Gunners career on the flank but can also play through the centre, as he does when captaining his country.
Luigi :)
For my next pick i will take my first defender
Phillip Lahm
(http://soccer-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Phillip-Lahm-.jpg)
You took Lahm just before me hawka! Nice pick and he was going to be one of mine :P.
My picks will be up soon (10 minutes) as I need to do a little write up.
My next pick is for defensive purposes. Although he's 29, he's still at his near best and is a great holding midfielder, He is Xabi Alonso. He doesn't score many goals but doesn't need to with his ability to read the game. He has a solid passing game whether it be long or short so is a good addition to the team to go behind Sneijder. I rate him as one of the best DM's in the World (but I don't know a whole lot about Football).
Alonso been the BPA for some time now.
Best Pick Around? Thanks if so :D.
Next pick will be up shortly as I'm taking quite a now team ;).
To join Ibra up forward for me, I may take a guy who is still regarded as one of the world's best.
Samuel Eto'o was outstanding in his Barca days scoring over 100 goals (107) in just 5 seasons of League games with them. He was traded to Inter as part of the deal with Ibra. Although he took some time to adjust, he's found form this season with 19 goals. As a player, he's got great pace and acceleration which make him a danger in open space. He could form a good partnership with Ibra who is more of a stronger build player and make a good tall/small combination.

Although he took some time to adjust, he's found form this season with 19 goals. As a player, he's got great pace and acceleration which make him a danger in open space. He could form a good partnership with Ibra who is more of a stronger build player and make a good tall/small combination.
NOOO :'(
If you didn't take Lahm you would have gotten him hawka :P. Ah well, good luck with your next pick :D.
Douglas Maicon
(http://www.laligaticketsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/maicon.jpg)
Im not the best at drawing formations and this willbe diffrent at the end im sure
(http://this11.com/boards/1301143266848064.jpg) (http://this11.com)
Nice Side Backs hawka. Maicon probably 2nd best RB in the world (Dani Alves #1 of course).
I'd take Maicon over Alves as a RB but not as a RWB.
Raúl Albiol
Raúl Albiol is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Madrid and the Spanish national team.
His main asset is his versatility, as he can play as a central defender, right back or defensive midfielder.
Luigi :)
Ok so was tossing up between 2 centre backs to partner Chiellini and did a big write up for the guy I was going to pick, but at the last minute changed my mind and I have decided to take the other guy. The guy I am now taking is a Brazilian who plays in the Serie A and is one of the best defenders going around these days. Extremely solid at the back and very comfortable on the ball. Still only 26 so will form a great partnership with Chiellini for years. I pick Thiago Silva
(http://www.acmilangozo.com/images/thiago-silva.jpg)
Thiago Silva is a good pick
Thanks andrew.
Always nice to hear that from you since you have so much knowledge :)
yaya my pick and the guy i wanted slipped :)
Well then pick him. It's your turn!
Okay sorry, with my pick i take Samir Nasri a French footballer who plays for English club Arsenal in the Premier League and the France national team. Nasri is known for his technical ability, creativity, pace, and ability to read the game. Of Algerian heritage, he is described as a player whose "vision and imagination make him an unpredictable opponent". His playing style, ability, and cultural background have drawn comparisons to French legend Zinedine Zidane. This season has really been a breakout one for him and he is now oftenly chosen ahead of Arshavin at his Arsenal side, also adding to the fact that he is only 23 and has loads of room to improve.
sorry on the picture size itll probs come out big
The pic is absolutely massive Zz. ;)
Can you change it?
My pick will be done shortly.

Didn't need to be changed. ;)
Ok. I'm just making a write up.
This next pick is largely based on potential, but also because he is one of my favourite players. An Slovakian attacking midfielder currently playing for Napoli. This pick may seem very unusual, but it's my team so back off. :P
Marek Hamsik.
My pick I guess?
Yes, yes it is.
Mmmmm so many ways I could go.
Going to go with......
SAMI KHEDIRA
Hard working defensive midfield player that isn't afraid to get down and do the hard work. Excellent tackler, strong, never stops running, decent passer. Could go on forever about Sami. Was in both the U21 and Senior sides when Germany embarrased England 4-0/4-1. Both within 6 months of each other. Round 16 and U21 FInals.
nice andrew, has he broken into the first team yet ?
what do u think of my pick of Nasri ?
I really like Khedira as a player.
BS up now with a double pick
He has been first team since he got signed.
Nasri is excellent pick. Has quiet downed a lot since his explosive start to the year but still a good pick/
i ment germany sorry
will make my picks when I get home..
give me an hour max :P maybe a tad more.
ok my first pick..
David Silva
(http://www.deafsportsmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/David-Silva.jpg)
It seems he has been along a while but is only 25 years old. Made his career at Valencia before moving to Man City last season. Was part of the spanish squad which won the 2008 Euro and 2010 World Cup but was surprisingly out of favour during the world cup to the likes of pedro and undrafted
Second Pick:
Ferreira Pepe
(http://www.realmadridsc.com/photos/pepe-bio.jpg)
Brazilian born-Portugese international who plays for Real Madrid. Original from Porto (before he moved to Real) he can play as a centre back or a Defensive Midfielder and is now regarded one of the best centre backs period.
David Silva is a great pick. Could be the steal of the draft to be honest.
Deciding my pick.
I was thinking about Silva with my last pick. Nice picks.
Yeah I had been considering Silva for a while, but thought that since I already had Cesc and Schweini I could avoid picking a AM for a while...
I'm going to go with 2 beasts as my DM's rather then Destroyer and a possesion specialist.
I pick a player, who arguably has been the best player in the PL this season.
YAYA TOURE
Beast of a midfielder who can play as a DM, CM or a AM as we have seen this season. Beast of a midfielder and will work very well in this team.
I pick a very young CB to anchor my defence. Another "potential" pick.
Mats Hummels.
(http://www.merkur-online.de/bilder/2009/02/06/69700/2107689906-voller-einsatz-bvb-mats-hummels-wird-wohl-endgueltig-borussia-dortmund-wechseln-archivbild-02052008.9.jpg)
Hmm nice pick there andrew, has been much better as a player since his move from Barca to City, mainly due to actually getting game time. Very versatile as you mentioned and also very consistent.
Hummels has possibly been the best defender in the bundesliga this season and maybe last. A very good pick with an exciting future ahead. Don't know if he should have been picked this early as he still needs to develop though.
Hope zz doesn't pick the guy I want now
String of fantastic picks imo.
yeah was quite surprised silva wasnt picked yet..
here is what my team looks like so far
(http://this11.com/boards/1301227763447516.jpg)
Very potent looking forward line BS!
My team currently looks like this
(http://this11.com/boards/1301228846674801.jpg)
Really happy with how it is looking at the moment. Team is starting to take shape nicely :)
Don't like Fabregas next to Schweini in that formation tbh.
I may put Fab as the AM and pick up another defensive minded mid. Just depends on which others get picked
(http://this11.com/boards/1301229269786030.jpg)
Obviously my team is a possession based side with the most potent attacking talent in the draft. I feel I can threaten the goal on every possession with how good my final third is. Alves and the other wing back will be providing width while Khedira and Toure give the CB's protection and aim to swiftly pressure the other team and get the ball back. Will be a high defensive line and I think this team can keep 55-70% possession against every team. Ozil will be the playmaker and the guy on the ball most of the time. Think I have a great shot in taking this one down.
Will pick soon ;)
Hope it's not the guy I am wanting!
what position are u picking CF ??
So i can let you know the liklieness of me picking your guy
please dont pick my next 2 players.. which is a cm and a rb or lb :P
I don't even know who my picks will be. Or even the structure I'm going with!!!
Might just stick with the classic, 4-4-2.....
He is an attacking sort of player...
Just hurry up and take your pick so I don't have to live in suspense :P
ITS ALMOST BEEN AN HOUR SINCE YOU SAID YOU WERE PICKING!!! HURRY UP :P
Alright with my pick im picking a player who has been playing on the left wing as of lat but also has the versitility to play as a left back if needed. He is a welsh international and plays for Tottenham. That's right Gareth Bale !. He is still only 21 and has shown his amazing potential, by absoulutley killing Maicon, the best RB in the world in a Champions League match where he bagged a hatrick and in the return game got two asissts.
Currently have him in my team as a LW but he could later move to a LWB position.

Nah had Bale in mind then, thought of picking a defender, which i probs shoulda done, then thought of another guy, then stuck wiht my original insticnt :P
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I WANTED BALE!!!
YOU SHOULDVE PICKED THE DEFENDER :P
I didn't get a pop up alerting me about your post :-[.
Bale is an awesome pick for Dynasty 8). Great prospect down the Left.
yeh i dont get them anymore either HP ???
I love Bale in my top 3 if not fav player outside Livepool/Australia
Well just like ZZ I am going to pick a left winger, but unlike ZZ I wont take an hour to pick him :P
I am going to pick Argentinian and Real Madrid star Ãngel Di MarÃa.
Di Maria has only just turned 23 and in his first season at Madrid has cemented down the left wing spot as his own. After making his name at Benfica Madrid moved in for him and he has been an instant hit! His dribbling, crossing, control of the ball and pace are all amazing. He may not score a huge number of goals (he is improving in that area), but he sure does create heaps. So far this season at Madrid in just 43 appearances in all competitions he has picked up 8 goals and an incredible 18 assists! With Sanchez on the right and Di Maria on the left my wing attacks will be almost undefendable when they get in to full stride :D
(http://www.nationalturk.com/en/berdiv/public_html/en/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/di-maria-argentina.jpg)
Di Maria was going to be my next pick :(. Him and Pedro would have been :o.
Yeah very surprised he slipped this low (so is he as you can see in the pic :P)
I honestly think now that my wings are probably the strongest in this draft since it is a dynasty :)
AGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very very angry at you!!!!
ok now to RECONSIDER my pick..... !!
Bacary Sagna
Another enigmatic signing in the summer of 2007, with right-back seemingly being the least of Arsenal's worries, but it took only a handful of games for it to become apparent that the quiet, unassuming Frenchman with Venus Williams' hairstyle was going to be a bit special. Bacary Sagna is a man who knows how to get the job done, and he'll do it the quickest, easiest, most straightforward way that he can.
Luigi :)

Looks like I took Di Maria at the right time then with 2 of you planning to take him with your next pick :P
Sagna a good pick. To be honest there aren't all that many quality right backs around these days...
Team looks a little like this :)
I am very happy with that to be honest :)
Luigi :)
You play your CB's ahead of your full backs???
Arshavin should be playing much higher up the field than that too
Bale has been around the top pick for a long time. I was going to pick him 3rd round.
Ok my team is currently looking like this now
(http://this11.com/boards/1301297880584166.jpg)
Think I need to work on the defense now
Quote from: CrowsFan on March 28, 2011, 07:14:17 PM

does your wing beat my wing of messi plus aguero?? :P
Well neither of them are actually wingers BS. Messi either striker or AM and Aguero is a striker :P
true that.. but im playing them as wideish strikers.. so wont really have any wingers apart from full backs..
Yeah fair enough. Messi could easily play anywhere you wanted him to though to be honest.
true.. i think i might play him as my GK :P hes definately tall enough to play there :P
Where is Luigi?? he was on before but didnt pick.. :S
Luigi picked Sagna. It is hawka's pick now
Then my double which will be tommorrow evening more than likely :).
Hawka gets skipped in 15 minutes. Then HP can pick if he wants.
Don't think Hawka will be on much since he is moving states...
I need to think about my picks. I'll leave it for an hour or two just incase he gets on :).
maybe get someone to pick for him?
ill send hawka a facebook message asking him for his pick
yeah good idea pyro..

Let us know if he can still be apart despite the move. At least this is a way for you to keep contact with him despite his move :D.
I still haven't decided so will be put up around 8:30 as I also have to eat now after doing some work before.....
yeah hawka still can be a part of this, his pick is luis nani, ill post the rest of his picks for him until he has internet access again
yay.. thats a nice pick.. can you try a get a picture??
HP up with his double pick then pyro can you pick for hawka again?
The exciting winger from Man U who is starting to hit his stride past season.
For hawka. Mine will be up soon after I think about them. I was thinking about Nani as well :P.
My pick will fill in the RB role quite well. Little known when he first arrived at Chelsea, he's grown to be one of the best RB's in the EPL and probably the World.
Branislav Ivanovic is a strong defender who is great at shutting down opponents and attacking at the same time when neccessary. Although he found it hard getting games at Stamford Bridge at first, he's grown to be one of their best and most consistent players/defenders. He is a very solid performer and I can depend on him to snuff out attacks down the right more often than not.
and your other pick?
Quote from: BoredSaint on March 29, 2011, 09:13:11 PM
and your other pick?
Haven't decided. Lucky I put out Ivanovic before otherwise you would be waiting a while :P.
ive got my next 2 picks worked out and i cant wait to put them out there.. may shock a few :P
Time for another Winger I think to finish off my midfield. Might shock a few (as I'm no good at soccer when it comes to depth) but I'm going with Eden Hazard.
With comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for his flare and skill on the ball have made him a much sought after young player. Just over 20 years of age, he's become a an explosive danger from the wing for Lille and an intergral part of their team. He will cause trouble to any defence with his pace when dribbling and breaking of the lines. May be a little out there but makes for young and very attacking wings.
Damn, wanted him. :(
Sorry ML :(. It was between him and 2 other players but hoping to nab one of them for my bench :D.
Nice pick HP but he is really more of an attacking mid not winger. Was hoping I could
pick him up for my bench
He can play both. He usually plays AM but can also play on the Wings where he can be just effective.
hawka's next pick is holger badstuber
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6YLcqwniI0E/TDQCVIjjaKI/AAAAAAAAEG4/WgY4E1sQAhI/s400/holger+badstuber.jpg)

Yeah I know he can play both. Belgium should have a great team in a few years!
I was also looking to get Ivanovic...
Should prob start thinking of who I will get with my next pick
Haha stop naming players that may get drafted! Delete that post :P
Apparently Hazards bro is meant to be better than him, but he wont get drafted in this since he is 17 and completely unproven
SORRY ABOUT THAT.. :P
only you saw :D..
yeah hazards bro is meant to be better.. but i cant even find him on soccer manager..
Haha if he was on soccer manager you would find him at Brisbane and Barca :P
He even has a cooler name. His name is Thorgen. Sounds like he is a viking god :D
true that.. because i will never have enough money to out bid you guys for him D:

Haha, at least I didn't call them waffles!
Hazard another great pick. Many have him in their top 5 player lists in 5 years. I woud've got him aq lot sooner if I wanted to go that way.
Leighton Baines
In the 2010/11 campaign Baines proved to be one of Everton's most consistent performers, and also weighed in with a few goals including what proved to be the winner in an excellent 2-1 win over Manchester City at Eastlands.
Baines's excellent form was rewarded in February 2011 when he was recalled to the England squad for the friendly against Denmark.
Luigi :)
Ok I think I am finally going to go ahead and pick a keeper. There have been 2 keepers I have been tossing up between for some time now but have finally decided to go with the German international keeper Manuel Neuer. Neuer has just turned 25 and has shown this season just how much of a quality keeper he is. Due to injury to undrafted before the world cup Neuer was named Germany's number 1 and even though undrafted is now fit again he has not been able to take the spot from Neuer. Neuer is an excellent shot stopper, ball handler and has great presence at the back so you will always feel comfortable with him behind you. His recent games in the CL signify how important he is for Schalke as he was vital in knocking out Valencia, their next match against Inter will be tough and if they stand any chance of progression they will rely a lot on Neuer to keep out Eto'o and company. He has recently been linked to Man Utd, Arsenal and Bayern Munich. In my mind Neuer is easily in the top 5 keepers at the moment and in 5 years time he will be the number 1 in the world.
GRRRRRRRR.
Neuer was my nexdt pick.
Best keeper in the world.
Haha sorry andrew. Still an extremely good keeper around though who is still young
Keeper is the least important posistion in this seeming there are more then 8 world class keepers, but I would've liked Neuer.
zz is on.. hopefully he picks soon :)
oh ididnt know it was mine sorry
pretty sure it is you..
Yeah zz is up. Just check the first post as I always have that updated
With the lack of right backs im gonna take one with this pick.
Im gonna pick Glen Johnson can play either LB/LWB/RB/RWB so will, most likely be playing in my team as a RWB, an attacking player and has recently found form after getting a new manager at Liverpool.
WHERES ML I WANT MY PICKS 8)
Me too
going to finish of my midfield with a left side pick.. :P
Ok. I'm on now. Just relax and give me a second.
Ok, with my pick, I will take a player who was recently transferred to the Premier League and has shown some great skill.
Will have to play him alone up forward, but hope that will work ok with my wingers and attacking mids.
My pick is Luis Suarez.
awesome pick.
andrew then ME
damn.. ML finally picks but andrew is now offline.. :-\
Going to my bench.
I pick, Jack Wilshere.
OMG YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS!!!!!! I WAS GONNA PICK HIM!!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:(
I knew it hahahaha
Jack is a very nice pick. Going to be a great player!
since Andrew stole my pick im going to have to go my second pick on my list..
Nuri Sahin
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_aKiyFkrjYKc/S2FzO6Vz3rI/AAAAAAAAHQY/AEaOCCBh1x0/s400/Nuri+Sahin.jpg)
German born Turkish Midfielder who has shot to fame this season following burussias great season so far. will partner david silva in the heart of the team :)
Rafael Da Silva
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6qWVjoU1D3E/TAwJHdjSrFI/AAAAAAAAAEc/mVBM_BjXCuQ/s1600/rafael+da+silva.jpg)
Brazilian Right back/winger who plays for Manchester United along with his twin brother undrafted :P the brothers have been described has brazils answer to the neville brothers and rafael will play at RB for my team :)
hmm on second thoughts i want to change.. ah wells

Haha fair enough, I was just teasing.
Both good picks. Heard heaps about Sahin a few years ago, haven't heard much since but has apparently been doing very well in Germany
well dortmund are top of the table.. so im sure hes playing well :)
I was tossing up between Sahin and Wilshere. Prob should've gone Sahin now that I think about it more.
Who was the pick? PM?
Haha it's a secret who he picked.
He is actually who I have as my number one pick for that position with who is left... Well top 3 anyway. Haven't decided yet haha
why didnt andrew pick yesterday night? weird..
Yeah not sure about that sorry BS. Bit annoying but oh well we have waited longer before!
true that.. hopefully my 'pick' comes back to me :P but i know there are a few other alternatives for that side of the pitch.. not much quality on the the other side though which is why i changed and picked rafael first..
Totally forgot it was my pick.
I again go to my bench.
I go for
(http://www.blogcdn.com/www.fanhouse.co.uk/media/2011/02/edin-dzeko-manchester-city-premier-league-football.jpg)
EDIN DZEKO
With the depth in CB's huge, I thought I'll clean up on some huge value missed.
My pick will be up shortly.
I'll take Gael Clichy.
No write up or pic for now. Laptop is all screwy.
Dzeko great pick up. Once he fully adapts to the premier league and Mancini starts playing him he will dominate.
If playing 1 man up front he would be great as a target man.
Clichy was on my list of left backs, but not at the top
my pick yes ?
Yep ZZ.
ill try to get it up soon computer is being a dog >:(
Okay im going to pick another german player this time [Thomas Muller[/b] had a great 2010 wordl cup scoring 5 goals and 3 asissts he also won the golden boot and best young player of the tournament. At 21 this is quite an achievment, Muller will only continue to get better and he is a star of the future. Muller can play in a few positions, attacking mid, wing and as a second striker this will give me quite a bit of variety.
Ok I'm going to go ahead and pick a defensive midfielder now. I will be picking Lass Diarra from Real Madrid. Only 26 years old so still got plenty of good football ahead of him. He is very very solid in the defensive side of the game and has a great physical presence on the field. Unlike some other defensive midfielders he has actually got very good control of the ball and is able to pick out some great passes. Even though Khedira was brought in over the summer Diarra has still appeared in 21 of Madrid's league games this season. He also plays for the French national team as their holding midfielder. With Diarra and Schweini sitting in the centre of the park the attacking players will feel very comfortable knowing that the defensive side is covered very well!
Felipe Melo
(http://u.goal.com/53900/53914_news.jpg)
Sorry, can't find a good write up on the internet and i dont know too much on him :P
Luigi :)
Don't pick him if you don't know him Luigi!
I was thinking about Muller as well but went Pedro and Hazard above him.
Hawka (Maybe PM Pyro and ask?) and then my double :). Need to think about my picks.
picking Muller will allow me to drop Bale back to play as a LWB ;)
ewwwww
haha what ?
Putting Bale @ LWB.
he can play there though... and fairly well ???
Much better in attack, that is where he has had success.
When he was played as a defender he didn't do all that well...
Untill last season, Spurs didn;t win a game with Bale on the pitch. This was when he exclusively played LB.
yeh true he does play much better on the wing. Just had thoughts :)
Ok so currently my starting XI is looking like this:
Starts off with one of the best keepers in the world at the moment, with a very solid defensive partnership in front of him. A midfield trio who should easily be able to control most of the game against any opposition, utilising Diarra's ability to read the play and break up attacks, Schweini's constant energy moving around everywhere and Fabregas' creativity and skill. Got width and a lot of pace with Sanchez and Di Maria on the wings who can both easily beat a man and deliver great crosses in to the box. Which is where Rooney is situated up front hassling defenders and getting physical up there. In my opinion this is a very strong side. Now just to get in some good full backs and we will be dandy :)
So had a guess at how HP is going to set up his squad, let me know if I am wrong ;)
Or if he wants to only play 2 up front then looking something like this:
urs doesnt work CF ;)
Still wthinking bout my formation that ill play
Yeah I realised that ZZ, works now though doesn't it?
yeh its up now :)
hey CF u gonna update the original post with my pick as Melo ?
Oh yep sorry Luigi. Will do it now ;)
HP's team doesn't look very coordinated. With those players, he needs a 4-2-3-1.

Or if he wants to only play 2 up front then looking something like this:
Was thinking something along these lines, Thanks CF. I'm no football genius (can barely watch anymore games) so can't make a great lineup as I'm a little daft when it comes to lineups/positions on field.
But may be going something similar to Andrew's lineup as it depends really.
So andrew you wouldn't even have Pedro starting then for HP?
I was just trying to fit in all his players that he had already taken
My team so far...

That's how he has picked :S. Hazard+Sniejder in centre of midfield isn't going to do anything.

Planning to use Hazard on the wing though. Will see how my other picks go before I decide on a proper lineup (which I'd probably need help with) :P.
Might drop Hazard to the bench ahead of Pedro though if I have to.
HP it has been over 24 hours. You can take your double pick since hawka hasn't picked. Then he will have a double after you ;)
But I haven't decided yet! I'll be back in a little while :P. No write ups as I can't concentrate for long enough to do one today :(.
My next 2 picks are Carlos Puyol
(http://www.7amkickoff.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/carles-puyol.jpg)
and Fabio Coentrao.
To finish off my defence with a CB and a LB. A mix of old and young and both are very solid. Puyol is a rock despite being 32. Coentrao has made a name for himself after switching to Left Back from the midfield which has made him a standout for Benfica and Portugal with his attacking flare.
Damn was wanting coentrao. That was BS's pick before he changed it to rafael.
Didn't think puyol would get picked since he is so old...
Ah well, the rest are young :P. Couldn't think about anybody else!
It was? It was either Coentrao or ______.
Forgot about Coentrao. :P
Rafael over Coentrao is laughable. Guy is insane. Had him lined up as my reserve LWB ;)
no. there are more lwb than there are rwb.. which made me swap
technically if HP did his double and Hawka is away, is it my pick now????
Yeah it's been another 24 hours so hawka gets skipped again.
So go for it luigi ;)
Joe Hart
I thought that i would need one soon and seeing two have already been taken i think now is a good time. And i think i have chosen a good GK who definitely will shine throughout the next 5 years. Having made his competitive international debut in September 2010, Hart is now recognised as England's number 1 goalkeeper by many fans and media alike. He was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2010 but lost out to eventual new team-mate at Manchester City, James Milner but was voted as the Premier League goalkeeper of the 2009-10 season. He is regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in the world, whilst being praised by World Cup winning goalkeepers Gordon Banks, Gianluigi Buffon and Iker Casillas.

Luigi :)
Hmm a few keepers ahead of him in my mind, but a nice pick.
Will do a write up for my guy and post it soon
Want to have my picks before I go to bed but mehhh
OK I'm going to go ahead and pick a LB since I don't think there are all that many good ones around for a dynasty. And since that is the case I had been tossing up between 2 players but since Coentrao was already picked I will have to take Aly Cissokho. Cissokho is only 23 and already a very important part of the Lyon squad, since moving there back in 2009. Before moving he was at Porto and was gong to sold to Milan, but failed a medical test due to dodgy teeth and thus ended up at Lyon. Very strong defensively, he is also very quick and is able to get up the flank and support the attack. Cissokho will be a very handy player for me at LB :)
Okay with my pick im also going to tak a LWB, his name is Vieira Marcelo, Marcelo has only just cemented his spot in the Real Madrid starting 11 the past two seasons but in doing that has played really well. Throughout his career at Madrid he has been played all over the place but has been finnally at home this season playing in his left back position, Marcelo is Brazilian and has been compared to Brazilian supertstar Robertop Carlos.
Robertop? :P
My pick now?
Marcelo is awesome going forward, but as a defender he is absolutely rubbish. He can't defend to save his life!
I was considering him but wanted a LB who could actually defend ;)
Yeah your pick ML :)
Pick will be up soon.
Pmed Pyro bout getting Hawka's pick ;)
Hhaha i dont need to defend if im attacking most the game anyways CF ;)
What about teams that counter attack? :P
Quote from: CrowsFan on April 04, 2011, 07:39:54 PM

they cant counter attack when the ball is in the back of the net :P
My pick is a Brazilian centre back who recently transferred to the EPL. He looks like a player of the future for Chelsea and looks to fit in my team well.
My Pick: David Luiz
(http://newsnow.mu/NewNowEditor/Images//chelsea-david-luiz.jpg)
Nice pick ML, was hoping I could pick him up for my bench :(
your pick now andrew then BS with a double :)
I'll take Neymar for my bench.
Another top 5 talent in the world right now. PLay Left, right and centre upfront. Bring it.
I'm liking your strategy at the moment andrew to bring in young stars for you bench before filling up the remainder of your team. Will certainly mean your team should be good in a few seasons with the new talent!
:). Huge amount of depth @ the CB position imo so taking the elite stars before they all go.
Think I need to take a RB with my next pick though since there is not so much RB talent around. Then on the the young kids :) Got a fair few in mind too!
im getting some youngins with my next picks too ;)
ahh Everyone has tactics!
i'm just like: this guy is under 28 years of age and seems to be OK: i'll pick him!
haha luigi :P
Pyro will be making Hawkas pick soon guys :)
hawkas pick is javier hernandez
(http://view1.picapp.com/pictures.photo/image/9512784/javier-hernandez/javier-hernandez.jpg?size=380&imageId=9512784)
Hawka has 3 picks to make pyro, what are his other 2?...
didnt realised hed been skipped that many times...
BS has a double now btw...
Sorry only been skipped twice, so one more pick for him.
He can just do a double when his next pick is up though...
Quote from: MajorLazer on April 04, 2011, 07:14:52 PM
Robertop? :P
He never got going at Brazil did he. But this Roberto Carlos was great :P.
Nice picks around.
woops i thought he was only skipped once
his 2nd pick is peter cech
(http://www.footballfancast.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/2_6453_Petr_Cech.jpg)
ill get his 3rd pick now
Can take away that last pick Pyro. Was only skipped twice not three times ;). Could last until the next pick though.
oh noes i seen his third pick too ;) :-X
oh shower ill delete the post for now so noone else gets any ideas :P
Haha. He should still be around in a few picks ;).
Haha I read peter cech as peter crouch and I was like WTF!
I didn't see the third pick :)
wasnt gonna pick him anyways :)
Didn't see the third. :)
do we have to have the same formation for all the seasons in this ?? just wondering
Probably not zz, but considering when it is done through FM andrew will just sim it and say keep tactics when available most of the time it will be. Also teams play better if they stick to a standard formation.
By the way BS it is your pick if you didn't realise even though hawka has had some picks
my pick is it.. will do profiles when I get home.
pick 1: thomas vermalaen
pick 2: alvaro arbeloa
I will pick the biggest talent out of brazil. Ganso is better the neymar but neymar is a lot more flashy so he gets morw attention.
not trying to put you down but there is definately a lot of brazilian talent out there. and a lot of them get pretty wasted when they move to europe.
Ganso is also a little older which is why they go crazy over the younger one instead. Going to be a top player!
ML up now
I'll take a big young striker who is massive. Romelu Lukaku.
Might do a write-up, but got a crapload of homework.
Damn another guy I was hoping to pick up :(
my pick ?
Yes
Quote from: CrowsFan on April 05, 2011, 05:43:03 PM

You and me both :'(.
Mario Gotze, another German star only 18 had plenty of room to improve and is a product of Borussia Dortmund's youth academy, plays as an attacking mid :)
I was going to choose him next -_-. Back to the drawing board.......
haha sorry HP. :P
Haha, nah it's fine. Just need to sift through some picks. Will tommorrow when I don't have to study much.
CF, Luigi and then hawka.
Well seems like everyone is deciding to pick youngsters instead of finishing off their starting XI, however I am going to buck the trend and pick a RB to complete my standard starting XI.
Was tossing up between picking an experienced player or going for a youngster with potential. I have decided to go for the experienced player first as he is a more proven player and is only 28 so will still be playing at a high standard in a few years time. I am going to go ahead and pick the Croatian national team captain Darijo Srna.
Srna plays for Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukranian Premier League and has been named that leagues best player the past 2 seasons. An integral part of Donetsk's playing style he has been one of the reasons why Shakhtar has made it in to the quarter finals of the CL this year where if they want to progress to the semi's Srna will have to be on top of his game against Barcelona. Srna is extremely solid defensively and a big threat when going forward to support the attack. He is also a superb free kick taker. This combination of attacking play and free kick taking is the reason he is second in the all time leading goal scorers for the Croatian national team. Srna adds great experience and leadership to my team!

CF, Luigi and then hawka.
i needed Gotze for when Xavi starts to get old ;)
Haha ZZ ;D.
Nice write up CF. Have heard about him but I don't watch Football so haven't seen him play before. Sounds great though ;).
He is an extremely good player HP. Just doesn't get as much coverage as others as he doesn't play in the top leagues. If he played in them then he would be regarded as one of the best RB's in the world
Thanks to Hawka on FF Cup SM, I have fell in love with this guy and would be guttered if i didnt get him, so have chosen him early:
Miralem Pjanic
He plays as an attacking midfielder and has been described as an "old-fashioned playmaker with huge technical qualities". In 2004, after attracting interest from a host of external clubs, Pjanić joined French club FC Metz and made his debut in the 2007â€"08 season at the age of 17. After a successful season, in June 2008, he joined Olympique Lyonnais on a five-year contract. With Lyon, Pjanić made his UEFA Champions League debut in 2008 and, in the following season, helped the club reach the semi-finals

Luigi :)
Nice pick Luigi. Another guy who was on my shortlist for good youngsters.
Pyro you can now post the pick for hawka that you deleted the other day ;)
Gotze is a great pick. Had him lined up for ages but thjought he was gna keep on slipping. He isn't anything like xavi though. More ozil. Atacking player with a drible ad able to play across the board
yes the deleted pick of hawkas is john terry
(http://www.matchhighlight.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/John-Terry.jpg)
Interesting pick considering he is 30 and hasn't had the best of seasons. Although he should be good for a few more years, but don't see him doing all that well after about 32. He better choose some good defensive back ups for when Terry starts losing it ;)
Roughish team looks like this
(http://this11.com/boards/1301995939211035.jpg)
Don't know how that will work tbh. With your current players, you are looking @ something like this.
Which you have 5 forwards with 1 defensive midfielder. Even that's not going to work. Going to be interesting to see what you come up with.
Lol yeah Andrew i've never tried to mix up formations before and have always stuck with basics. I will see what i can come up to. But i don't think VDV can count as a forward...
He regularly plays as a second striker ( in the hole behind another striker) for club and country. To put this into prospective, Wayne Rooney plays as a "in the hole" striker. He is very much a forward.

Right ok i understand. Though i think i can re-arrange my formation formula around that, shame a lot of DM/CM are taken..
Just going to do a quick rating list on all the teams so far. Not going to include my own.
They are all so close and the remainder of the draft will decide it imo.
1.ChrisZZ
2.CF
3.ML
4.BS
5.HP
6.Hawka
7.Luigi
lol pooh :( :-[ :-\
well i didnt really expect to be in the top 4 anyway because i have only just started gathering strategical and tactical knowledge in this game of the round ball. in the past i have analysed players, but never team tactics.
So i am hoping to improve my knowledge in that area and hopefully move my way up your rankings Andrew ;)
I'm prob the only one taking this seriously anyway. But you needed to get a nice balance between attack and defence. Esp in the midfield. You haven't got that @ the moment.

Right OK. Thanks Andrew. Will work on that. You seem to know what you are on about ;)
I'll take my picks in this afternoon. Would have got them in late last night if I didn't fall asleep all of a sudden.
It is the afternoon now HP, care to take your picks? ;)
I just got home before :P. I also need to sort out who will be my picks :P.
Haha fine. Need any advice?
Probably seeing as I'm not doing so well structure wise!
I joined in to make up the numbers but trying to give it a good go.
Alright I'll send you a PM and see what we can come up with ;)
First of my two picks will be Hugo Lloris.
I believe he's on his way on becoming one of the best keepers anywhere in the World and being 24, age is on his side. Is still improving his game so think he's a solid keeper to have in Dynasty. He's has quick reflexes and great decision-making. COmbined with his one-on-one skills, he's an allround keeper to have for a long time.
Next pick will be up soon.
Only thing that lets him down is that he is terrible in the air and on set pieces.
I think Xabi will feel alone in the middle so I'll get him some company through Yann M'Vila.
Despite his height of 1.69m, his work-rate makes up for that. He's a strong defender with his tackling abilities and has great vision when it comes to setting up attacks from the back. He's represented his country from U16's to U21's and was just cut from last years World Cup squad after being in the intial 30. That's quite the effort considering his age and has since made his debut for France showing his bright future.
Quote from: Andrew3737 on April 06, 2011, 03:40:27 PM

Yeah, the height isn't there to compete in the air compared to some of the taller keepers. I haven't seen him play so can only go on what I've read on him.
Going French I see HP ;)
Lloris I think is an extremely talented goal keeper, yes andrew he is poor from crosses/set pieces but that is easily something he can overcome since he is only 24. In my opinion he was the best keeper left in the draft.
M'Vila I don't know a whole lot about, but is meant to be an very exciting prospect/good player already. So nice picks with both HP.
Hopefully Pyro can get Hawka's next pick soon :)
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.
M'Vila was my next pick. Great great player. I have him in my "future" World Team of the Year. Prob the top 5 player in Ligue 1 already.
Sorry Andrew, but at least I'm back on track with the players :).
Have 1 of my next 2 picks sorted bar not all of them get taken :-X.
Got my next pick sorted too. Hopefully hawka and luigi don't take him first...
Wanted M'Vila as well, but thought I needed Lukaku.
im gonna PM Pyro, to get hawka's pick again
Already have zz. He said he would ask him ;)
good thinking guys.. keep the draft moving.. have no idea who to pick though
I will pick after Hawka, or Pyro picks... should do it by tomorrow afternoon if he doesnt do it by now??
Also people, are you gonna finish your Firsts team first? or you gonna leave out some selected players/positions and instead stock up on reserves?
All down to your strategy.
hawka pmed me back finally and picks chris smalling
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Ck6LQcv4sOg/S6so5EGywDI/AAAAAAAAKhw/pEx0C-fHA7c/s1600/Chris+Smalling+40.jpg)
way you go luigi :)
To finish up the experienced part of my team:
Lass Diarra:
Diarra has unusually good ball control for a defensive midfielder and has been praised for his physical strength in defense. Due to his versatility, Madrid’s La Sexta television commentators refer to him as a "todocampista" or "jack of all trades." His predominant position in RM is a defensive midfielder but he can also play in a more advanced role and has played at right back, which he occasionally did for former clubs Chelsea and Portsmouth, as well as France.
Luigi :)
I believe he has been picked.
CF took him at pick 69...
Wow scheizenhagin. Sorry guys ;)
Vincent Kompany
He is capable of playing at both centre back and defensive midfielder. The Belgium defender has been a key component of Manchester City's defence this season.
Luigi :)
Sorry :)
Wow there are some much better defenders who should have been picked ahead of Smalling in my opinion. Also sorry luigi for picking Diarra before you :P
My pick will be up shortly to keep the draft moving ;)
Well now that my starting XI has been fully selected time to start choosing the benchies/backups :)
I'm going to go ahead and pick a guy who I think should have been picked by now, but may not have been because he hasn't had the best of seasons due to moving clubs. However he is still a massive talent. I am going to pick Yoann Gourcuff from Lyon. Gourcuff can play as the playmaker of the team or sitting behind the striker as a supporting player, he is extremely talented and has been likened to Zidane in the way he goes about his football. A superb passer of the ball he can split defenses wide open with his passing. It is not only his passing that is amazing, but the control he has on the ball too, he seems to have so much time when he gets it, and can play his way out of any situation. David Ginola amongst others has described him as the best French footballer of his generation. Gourcuff made his name at Bordeaux where he was named French footballer of the year in 2009, but moved to Lyon at the start of this season. Gourcuff is an excellent addition to my squad and can play as either backup to Fabregas as the play maker of my team or when needed play them both to get more attacking options up front. Welcome Gourcuff to the team :)
I saw him as an option but didn't really know much of him. SM only has limited information on a player ;)
sorry for no right up, but im gonna take a guy who is still quite young and will play along side Vidic as he does for his country. Neavern Subotic
unsure on first name spelling
Just spelled Neven ;)
Nice pick, him an Hummels have been dominating in Germany. ML up now :)
Got a few picks in tonight :D
yeh thats why i rushed it :P
Gonna pick one of my favourite Villa players even though he just recently transfered in. Can score goals in the Premier League.

Darren Bent.

sorry for no right up, but im gonna take a guy who is still quite young and will play along side Vidic as he does for his country. Neavern Subotic
unsure on first name spelling
There is one down from my shortlist! Can the other 2 last? :-\.
Nice picks but Bent is a suprise ;).
You just better hope I don't take A. Young guy, HP. ;)
Go right ahead ;).
May do so, but really like another guy so he'll go ahead of him.
This is for fun right? :P
Keep believing that ;).
I will. :)
pick 1: Robinho
(http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01115/robinho_1115967c.jpg)
may be past his best now.. but still a handy pick for the bench :) now 27 years old and has played at both Real Madrid and Manchester City and is now at AC Milan.
second pick in a bit.. need to decide
Pick 2: Jesus Navas
(http://www.oleole.com/media/main/images/member_photos/group1/subgrp248/50841.jpg)
super speedy spanish winger who shot to fame at the 2010 world cup where he basically took over David Silva's role in the team. Interestingly I will be playing Silva ahead of Navas at the moment in my team but this decision may change depending on what formation i decide on.
Going to take
(http://www.arsenalhighlights.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2788138.jpg)
Prob the best CB in France right now.
DANG IT!!! That's 2 down from my shortlist ::). I like Sakho
damn was gonna pick sakho too.. but decided to take the other end of the pitch first.
I better get my pick or back to the drawing board!
how many picks are we making? if im correct that was my 13th pick overall.
21

Haha sorry don't think you will HP, because I have been tossing up between Sahko and the guy you are talking about. Was going to let you pick first and then take the other, but now Sahko is gone so think I will have to draft him in
My pick is Marko Marin. Getting ready for school so no write up or pic right now.
Nice pick ML.
ZZ up with pick number 100 :)

Dang it :'(. Back to the drawing board.... At least I've got the heads up this time.
I like Marin :D.
im gonna pick Stevan Jovetic, love this guy through FIFA and SM only seen him play once but he scored two goals in the game vs Liverpool :'( is quite a talent at only 21 and is already in the starting 11 at Fiorentina. His impressive dribbling, close control, and technical qualities has made many compare him to Robert Baggio. Another one that has been injured latley but will make a full strength return. Plays as a second striker and can also play on the wing.
Great player.
Had a look at Jovetic, but decided to take Gourcuff instead. Pick will be up some time soon, once I do a write up
Well I'm going to pick a back up defender for my team, he just turned 22 last month (1 day after I turned 21) and goes by the name Simon Kjaer. At such a young age he already has a great reputation surrounding him as a great prospect. He possesses great ability on the ball and always looks calm and composed. Strong in the tackles, he has also got great positioning. Made a big name for himself at Palermo and had many big name clubs after his signature, however he ended up at Wolfsburg, where he just continues to improve. He has already cemented his spot in the Danish national team at such a young age and he certainly will be one to watch in the future.
And to finish my firsts as a CB:
Diego Godin
A fast and composed defender, he combines physical presence with an ability to play the ball comfortably from behind.
Luigi :)
DANG IT!!! AFter my 3 got taken I was thinking Godin as I liked him since his Villereal days :'(. I'm drawing blanks now for my next pick :'(.
lol soz HP ;D
I know it hasn't been 24 hours yet (will be in less that an hour), but HP you might as well take your double pick now since I don't think pyro will be on and posting for hawka in that time
I need to think of my players as 4 of the CB's I was thinking are gone!
Haha that really does suck that they all got picked!
has anyone PMed Pyro yet ?
My picks are decided and have to make do with what's left.
Juan Mata and Mateo Musacchio.
Making a move for my Dynasty here with Mata and Musa to sure up my stocks for Forward/Wing (mainly Wing) and CB. Considering I lost all 4 of my preferred CB's, I think Musa is set to be a great player and on his way their. Only 20 so has plenty of improvement left in his game. A little left field since I wasn't sure on him.
Mata I'm much more sold on. After Villa's and Silva's move, Mata has become even more important for Valencia, lifting them to third on the table. He can score and assist and is a very speedy player. He's got alot of potential and has been targetted by the Big Money Spenders in Barcelona and Man City. Even though Valencia are in debt, they don't want to let him go for cheap, as he's certainly one of their Key players if they are to stay near the top of the table.
Damn was hoping to pick up mata :(
yeah zz pyro is waiting for hawka to respond. And he knows hawka is meant to pick 2 players
Well you took Kjaer :P.
Fixed the Pics :-[.
i was gonna pick Kjaer for my bench. but then u got him... :P
whos pick is it?
we'll wait til tonight for Hawka/Pyro?
then me :)
Yeah we will give hawka until tonight. Pyro messaged him a day or 2 ago so hopefully he gets a response some time soon...
hawka has a lot to answer for atm with his apparent non-existence ::)
Haha he sure does. How about we move on with the draft and when hawka gets back to pyro he can just post them then?
So luigi it is your turn, then mine :)
so luigi, then u Cf then me ?
Correct zz.
Have so many players to choose from at the moment. I have no clue who to pick!!

me too, just gonna wait till its my turn to think bout it
(http://this11.com/boards/1302338709853487.jpg) (http://this11.com)
Heres my side as it looks at the moment.
Starts of with one of the best keepers in the world in Iker Casilias, who will keep many clean sheets.
Then in front he has, Vidic, 29 yers old, the best centre back in the world today (disputable) and next to him has Subotic, his partner in the international side who is only 21, and will improve a showerload. Either side of Subotic and Vidic are to great wing backs, who will get up the field and create oppurunities with their speed and strength.
In the centre of midfield ive got Xavi and Busquests once again age and youth, in the middle. Xavi, will create a lot, with his magnificence, as the best CM/AM in the world and has Busquets behind, playing as a DM and improving with age. On the Left Wing is a future star in Bale who is only 20 and will use his strength and speed down the line. on the other wing is Nasri who is more of a technical player and will use his technique and amazing dribbling skills.
And finally upfront is Higuain, who averages a goal every two games, but in this team will quite easily average more, playing off him is the young Muller who has got plenty of awards to his name.
On the bench is Gotze and Jovetic who are both amazing talents and will only get better, these two cover the whole midfield/forwards if there are any injuries.
To my reserves with a Spanish, i assume, playmaker:
Javi Martinez
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9gcceJohlAk/SeTPYlf5N_I/AAAAAAAALAQ/KJwiM58eoII/s400/Javi_Martinez.jpg)
Luigi :)
Ok been tossing up what position I should pick for next and decided to go for another striker to support Rooney as his back up. I will pick a Brazilian playing in Portugal, none other than Hulk. Not only does he have the coolest name going around, but he is also an extremely good player with a powerful shot at goal he can trouble goalkeepers from almost anywhere on the pitch. Getting his nickname because he looks like the guy who played the Hulk, he is also Hulk like in body strength, capable of playing as a target man up front due to his strength on the ball. He is also capable of playing on the wings if needed. Hulk is only 24 and during his 3 years playing for Porto he has scored 34 league goals and got 30 assists in just 67 league appearances. His reputation has grown even more due to his dominant performances in the CL where he has made 11 appearances this season scoring 6 goals. Hulk will provide great back up for Rooney in my team, or play up front with him when needed.
Hulk is awesome.
Yeah he is one of my favourite players :)
ZZ is up
alright im on now, will think of my pick now ;)
zz you always take so long to think about who you are going to pick once you say you have started thinking :P
haha sorry :P
Okay well im going to pick, Mario Balotelli a young forward with plenty of talent, he has got great strength, technical ability and pace. But is criticised with his poor attidude, is also great at free kicks, i just hope he lifts his attitude and his talent doesnt go to waste. Not exactly the smartest guy going round either though.
Had been thinking about Super Mario but decided on Hulk because of Balotelli's terrible attitude and work rate.
If he can get his head right he will become a star, but if he can't then he will never become a world beater in my opinion
still seems pretty cocky, won the 2010 or 2011 golden boy award, and reckons he is better than all previous winners bar Messi who is only slightly better, and hadnt even heard of Jack Wilshire who only just came second. Hell be a good player in this sort of draft though.
Yeah I remembered reading that when he won it last year in December. His exact words were"
Quote"I don't know who Jack Wilshere is to be honest. But the next time I play against Arsenal I will keep a close eye on him," Balotelli was quoted as saying by Tuttosport.
"Perhaps I can show him the Golden Boy trophy when we meet and remind him that I'm the one who won it and not him!"
As I said before he will be good for this draft if he can sort out his attitude, and my opinion is he wont be able to
yeh i pray he does though :-\
doubt it, but geez i hate it when great talnet goes to waste, like imagie his talent with good attitude
Am I up?
Yep ML :D.
I pick Assou-Ekoto. Sorry getting very lazy about pics and write-ups. May get one up tonight.
I'm taking Ashley Cole. Best LB in the world. 30 but meh. Doubt any LB's will be as good as him anyway.
sorry been out all day.. and feeling miserable about the saints and my SC team.. :(
ill pick in a sec.
Pick 1: Victor Valdes
(http://www.toonpool.com/user/2106/files/victor_valdes_fc_barcelona_704235.jpg)
Barcelonas First choice keeper and Spain's second choice keeper, Victor Valdes is one of the worlds best keepers. Honours include, 4 Spanish Leagues, 2 Champions Leagues and the 2010 World Cup.
Pick 2: Theo Walcott
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oHF-qUKh09c/TMDGREwvpKI/AAAAAAAA-fo/KkiSs5pCj0A/s800/soccer-caricature-of-THEO-WALCOTT.jpg)
Blessed with superior speed, Arsenals Theo Walcott has been around for a while without making a major impact until season 10-11 where he has arguably been Arsenals best player. If he can overcome his injury worries, would be a fine player for Arsenal and my team :)
Theo hasn't even been close to Arsenal's best player this season.
Neway going to take Rio Ferdinand.
Been immense when he has played. Injuries I know, but when Rio+Vidic have played, they have an outstanding record.
I'll take Aaron Lennon cos I'm pretty sure he hasn't been picked.
Wow I had so many more keepers ahead of Valdes...
ZZ up then me again :)
hawka finally got back to me and his first pick is marouane fellaini
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oMKTP4IQneg/TURPGWTwJoI/AAAAAAAAAfI/PjHF_Ea-zuc/s1600/fellaini.jpg)
still waiting on his second pick
Thanks Pyro. Get 2 more please :). For his upcoming picks.
Thanks pyro. Just let us know when he tells you other picks :)
hawkas second skipped pick will be emmanuel adebayor
(http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/05_01/adebayorG2804_468x452.jpg)
Thanks again. He is now on par with the rest of us, but will be his pick again soon if you can find that out but not tell us yet
just asked him to give me a couple of picks in case he goes missing for a few days again :P
Good thinking ;D
Need to think about my picks. May take a while.....
Well it's not actually your pick at the moment HP ;)
Dang Luigi :P. Doesn't hurt to think about my picks since I have no clue.
How is it luigi's fault?
The order is ZZ, ME, luigi, hawka then you :P

Yes we did, but then ML andrew and BS all made their picks so it is back to ZZ.
Just check the front page to see who's pick it is ;)
I did ;).
1 of my next picks is sorted hopefully :D.
Going to interestig to this fm sim. See how fm rates our selection.
Yeah it will be. Will suck though if one of someones star players picks up a massive injury and is out for months :(
That's what happens. Pretty confident I my side.
I'm pretty happy with my squad in this at the moment too :)
Esteban Cambiasso will be my next pick for experience, may play him ahead of Busquets in the first 1/2 seasons of this until Busquets gets time to develop a bit more. Really just a tactical pick ;)
Ok I'm heading off now so can't do a write up, but I choose Adem Ljajic from Fiorentina.
OK I can do a write up now.
Ljajic plays as a right winger, so will be backup at the moment for Sanchez. He is 19 years old and already part of the first squad at Fiorentina and just breaking into the Serbian national team at the moment. He was meant to join Man Utd in January 2010, but was denied a work permit so ended up moving to Fiorentina instead. This season he has established himself as a very important part of their squad despite his age, already appeared 23 times in the league this season, scoring 3 goals, but creating much more. Ljajic will be a star in a few seasons :)
Micah Richards
A versatile defender, Richards is equally adept at centre back and right back or in centre midfield. On making his full England debut in November 2006, he was the youngest defender ever to be called up to the England squad.
Nice future player there luigi ;)
Luigi gave it a shot and this is what i came up with, quite like the second one to be honest
You could maybe go for something like this, another winger would be needed though:
(http://this11.com/boards/130250922947565.jpg) (http://this11.com)
This is much more suited for your current players youve got:
(http://this11.com/boards/1302509658114605.jpg) (http://this11.com)
This one has Baines and Sagna playing a bit further up the ground due to the narrowness of the midfield, and also the fact with two DMs there, but they one of them can drop in and cover if Sagna or Baines go for a little run up the wing.
Also correct me if im wrong but hasnt Van der Vaart been playing as more of a second striker this season ? ive got him in AM for luigi.
Pick away at it CF and andrew ;)
Busquets is already better then cambiasso.
Vdv yes is a second striker.
Wow thanks ZZ
VDV as an AM, would that still be classified as a Second Striker?
For the first one, i forgot to mention that i also have J Martinez. Even though he is a CM/DM as a playmaker, VDV could be moved up to that Wing but more central, then Martinez in the Centre next to Kompany?
And with the second one, the one you said u prefer, no Arshavin?
Thanks :)

VdV doesnt really play on the wing :-\
And on the thing bout the second one i would prefer having torress and RVP, so torres can cut in on his right, and RvP cut in onto his left
Right OK :)
Ok so hawka up now. Someone tell pyro as I am going again ;)
Here is what my first team will look like.. most likely..
and this is my bench so far..
I reckon andrew's formation would work the best. Kompany is more of a CB than DM anyway, and Baines and Sagna would be great wing backs.
HP I think you should just pick and pyro can get hawka's picks up whenever ;)
Just asked him in the trivia chat.
Has to get back to him. I'll get them up sometime tommorrow I guess as I haven't thought about my second pick and Trivia is so fun :D.
Make my picks now/soon or wait until tonight?

Make my picks now/soon or wait until tonight?
NOW!!! :)
BS just noticed you have Vermaelen as a RB. Don't think he has ever played there in his life!
Vermalean is usually CB with some stints at LB right?
Alrighty. Got both my picks ready. I was hoping to get one a bit later but can't find another midfielder I like :(.
Yeah primarily a CB, but could play at LB if no other options available
My picks will help fill a striker and midfielder spot on my bench. One is a great attacking player from the back half while still being quite versatile and the other is a goal scoring machine who is being chased by many big names, with quite the price tag over his head.
My first pick is Edinson Cavani from Napoli. From 28 league games this season, he's managed an outstanding 25 goals combined with 4 assists. Many say he's a big reason why Napoli is sitting second on the Serie A table. He's been linked to Real Madrid and Man City but has chosen to stay with Napoli as his price tag has been set quite high (one site reported 85.5 Million Euros :o).
My next pick is a DM backup who can also fill in down in defence. Arturo Vidal has been a vital part of Bayern Leverkusen's push for the Bundesliga title currently sitting second. He's amassed 9 goals and 8 assists from his DM position. He's a very solid defender and his ability to push forward makes him even more of a threat to have on my bench. His versatility is what draws me to him as he can play almost anywhere in the back half.
BLEEHHHHHH.
Cavani was my next pick. Cavani should've went a long time go. Prob the 3rd best player in Serie A this year.
I was suprised he was still around :o. In hindsight should have taken him last round ahead of Mateo.
finally got a response from hawka and his 2 picks and tim cahill and toni kroos
(http://www.thehardtackle.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/tim-cahill.jpg)
Was goiing to Take Kroos at some stage
Luigi why didn't you pick when you were online??
Wow didn't realize it was my pick.
Marcell Jansen
A LM/LB who i believe has a lot of potential.
Ok for my pick I am going to pick a young Frenchman playing for Toulouse who has been compared to Patrick Vieira in the way he plays the game. I pick Moussa Sissoko. Only 21 years of age but has already appeared for Toulouse 144 times, scoring 20 goals in the process, not bad for a holding midfielder. He has represented France at every age level from the U16's all the way up to the senior team. He is capable of playing as the holding midfielder so can replace Diarra in the starting lineup or as a box to box midfielder so can also play Schweini's role. This kid will be a star in the not to distant future :)
Where is zz? He hasn't been on since Monday!
my pick now ?
Yes. Just check the front page as I have the list up to date ;)
lol yes
ZZ going to piick?
Eventually
SSorry computer being slow -__-
Alright im gonna grab the big man/beast, as im a bit of a Liverpool fan ;)
Andy Carroll, is a classic centre forward or number 9, and uses his strength, powerful shot and excellent heading ability, Kevin Keegan (an ex Newcastle manager) stated "he is probably in the top three headers of a ball I have ever seen in football". He was brought to Liverpool, at an excess fee of 35mil making him the most expensive british footballer of all time, and is going to be a huge star of the future.
Gotta love that picture :)
I know I'm up. Let me think. :)
I'll take Alexandre Song as a DM if he hasn't been taken.
I'll take Fat Frank
How did he slip this low :o
How did who slip?
andrew's pick, a last name would be nice though andrew...
Frank Lampard
my pick yes? will be done in a sec
sure is BS :)
Pick 1: Jack Rodwell
(http://cdn.caughtoffside.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Jack-Rodwell.jpg)
bit of a smokey pick from me :) Rodwell is a Defensive Midfielder who plays for Everton (the best club in the world :P) represented England at both U18 and U21 level. Still only 20 he will grow into a good Defensive Mid for both England and Everton. Will feature on the bench unless Essien gets an injury. Is also capable of playing CB.
Pick 2: Darren Fletcher
(http://www.football-pictures.net/data/media/100/Darren_Fletcher_Caricature.jpg)
Manchester United's CM/DM :) Fletcher is the captain of the scottish national team. Plagued by injury throughout his career, Fletcher is a perfect player for the bench position who can come on and make an instant impact in the busiest part of the pitch :)
I'll take DIDIER DROGBA
nice picks andrew !
I'll take James Milner.
Was better at Villa and hasn't been able to do much at Man City.
and my bench
(http://this11.com/boards/1302696810746645.jpg)
With my pick im going to take Steven Gerrard, another Liverpool superstar <3
Hes the captain of the great Liverpool, and is a very loyal player, as he will be for my side. Gerrard is also vice captain of England and captained the side in the 2010 World Cup due to Ferdinand's injury. Also a set piece specialist and can score pingas from all over the pitch, with his power.
His wife goes alright :P
Picking up the oldies hey andrew?
You can probably only get 1 or 2 seasons out of them considering Lamps is 32 and Drogba 33!
Will have a little think about my pick and get it up soon ;)
After not getting Juan Manuel Mata I will pick another Juan Manuel for my left winger spot. This time it is Juan Manuel Vargas, my second player from Fiorentina. Vargas can play anywhere down the left side, but is at his best when deployed as a winger who is able to push forward and become almost a third striker. A wonderful crosser of the ball, Alberto Gilardino describes him as the best crosser he has ever played with. He is also deadly from set pieces, whether that is corners or free kicks. Has also got a great shot on him. Only 27 so plenty of years ahead of him and will provide great back up for Di Maria
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_307xl2eC7g4/TLf1keQWdII/AAAAAAAAAkM/nzSqcSOXDeI/s400/juan_manuel_vargas_02_31012010.jpg)
Marcio Rafinha
He is a Brazilian footballer who plays at right back for Genoa in the Serie A.

A nice write up as usual Luigi ;)
Even if I don't know much about my player I try to add something :P. Has happened a few times too many as well!! :P.
The Vargas and Rafinha picks are so opposite. Vargas is all Business, Rafinha is having a ball.... or he's trying to kill somebody, it's all good ;D.
Lol i just copy and paste from Wikipedia. And when its a big star i usually find a website that knows a lot about them, bbut then some of the good youngsters not many people know about them so i have to refer to wikipedia, or do a really basic one like my Rafinha one ;)
I usually try to make it up with a funny pic ;D
Ok so as usual Hawka is skipped and he can pick whenever he gets his picks to pyro.
You're up now HP ;)
Really? I haven't thought of my pick :-[.
Will do now to keep it rolling :).
Well luigi picked at 10am yesterday so it has been 24 hours ;)
But I don't know who to pick so it may be a little while....
Thats alright, take your time. Need any help?
Probably!! Right now I've got 2 names in my mind but I think I can find better if I keep searching.
Ok well I just messaged pyro asking him to get 2 picks from hawka for his turn
1 pick is done so searching for my next one :).
My first of this double will go to Iker Muniain.
He's still quite young and has turned into an important part of Bilboa's team. He's small but has great speed and passing abilities to make up for it. He's a playmaker for the future. He's a good young backup to Sneijder so should fit nicely onto the bench.
Not really a playmaker. But he is quite fast and can play up front.
Quote from: Andrew3737 on April 15, 2011, 12:30:54 PM

Ah, so more of a second striker? I thought he could also play AM but oh well :(.
Can't decide on my second pick so I'll come back after lunch :).
He can play AM. DOesn't mean he can be a playmaker.
Ah ok :(. I suck at this :P. I can't watch any soccer so can only go on what I read online :P.
Next pick is Ezequiel Munoz.
Grrrr
lol never heard of him...
hey guys i dont know where you find out your youngsters, but i just search them up on the net.
seen this before?:
http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/football-manager-2011-players/55847-young-playmaker-football-manager-2011-a.html
Finding out Muniain is more of a striker, knocked out the other options :P. Sorry CF ;).
I use soccermanager/ESPN/Goal.com as I suck :P.
LOL Luigi :P. I don't bother about that. I'm going more on real-life than the game.
Yeah I'm with HP, I prefer to go on how they have been playing in real life rather to what they will become in the game.
I dont have foxtel and can never be bothered watching youtube so the only way i can do that is watching those soccer shows in SBS..
Munoz is a good pick.

I don't have sports channels as well and barely watch SBS. I go online to like ESPN soccernet and goal.com (although don't entirely trust it) for my info. Soccermanager isn't half bad but ratings not always spot on.
Thanks Andrew. Finish offs my CB's for now.
Thought i should go...
Santos Ramires:
He is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Chelsea.
Luigi :)
Haha just realised it was my pick. So with my pick I will take Gregory van der Wiel the 23 year old right back from Ajax. Extremely quick down the flanks, last year he was named the Netherlands young player of the year. He is part of the Dutch national team having already made 21 appearances for them since his debut in 2009. From the Ajax youth system so you know that he has got lots of talent. Will be good back up for my team :)
Lol who the hell is he!!!
oh well, seems like a good pick i guess ;)
Did you not watch the world cup Luigi? :P

Did you not watch the world cup Luigi? :P
Lol i did watch it, i would say "oh yea course i know him, he as "Van der" at the start of his name!" but no i honestly didn't see him. I only concentrated on the Italy, Australia, Semi-Finals and Grand Final matches. I know yes that means i watched Netherlands play, but then i was hoping Sneijder did well for my Fantasy team ;)
My pick now, tossing up between two players :-\
might need some professional help
wow how i totally forgot about van der wiel is funny.. he is not only in the netherlands national team which i follow but also formally in my ajax soccer manager team..
Come on zz, you said 3 hours ago you were tossing up between 2 players. Just pick one!
Yeh sorry bout that :-[
Umm well im gonna take Phil Jones as defensive backup, is still quite young and has plenty of room to improve, only 19 and is already a starter at Blackburn.
I'm up now right?
yehh
I'll take Davide Santon as a wing back. Feel like he can be great and is only young. :)
Sorry about the lack of pic.
WHOS PICK IS IT?
Andrew's. No need to shout ;)
Ok andrew is now skipped.
BS feel free to take your double pick ;)
strange... well hopefully BS doesnt take andrew's pick anyways ;)
Ill take howedes. The german oshea. Can play anywhere alonjg the back and in the midfield and shoudlve been in the german squad.
Pick 1: Jeremy Toulalan
(http://www.football-pictures.net/data/media/251/Toulalan-Avatar.jpg)
Lyon and French International player, Toulalan can play as a Defensive Midfielder or Centre Back. At 27 years old he is a handy back up for Essien or be used as a back up for my centre backs.
Pick 2: Rodrigo Alex
(http://www.gfdb.com/images/pictures/players/alex-rodrigo.jpg)
Chelsea's Brazilian Centre Back. Known for his blasting free kicks. Has had an injury interrupted season but at his best is solid in defence.
Nice picks BS
hawka finally got back to me with his picks ;D
he takes lucio
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f0/L%C3%BAcio_-_Inter_Mailand_%285%29.jpg/220px-L%C3%BAcio_-_Inter_Mailand_%285%29.jpg)
and john obi mikel

andrew's up !!
havent been getting many picks done lately !
Andrew gets skipped in an hour, then it is ML after that.
Just sent andrew a PM since he is online. Turns out it is his birthday. Happy birthday andrew
If its his birthday then leave him till like tomorrow at 4 oclock or something random like that ;)
Haha no exceptions Luigi ;)
If ML comes on he can make his pick

I'll wait for Andrew.
I don't know who I'm picking anyway.
Happy Birthday. :)
Very kind of you ML. Just got a PM saying he was picking now so wont have to wait long ;)
Thank you very much. Just came back from Dinner.
I'll take the next Messi. Juan Manuel Iturbe. 17 and making loads of noise. Been signed to FC Porto for a year now but can't play in Europe till he is 18. Excellent dribbling skills as usual for a 17 year old wonder kid from SA but his finishing and mental state can be questioned.
No problem Andrew.
Is it ok if I take my pick tomorrow?
Really tired and not thinking very well at the moment.
Nice pick. Looks to have a bright future ahead of him. And like a lot of south americans will try and make it in Portugal before moving to a big league, which I think is usually the right choice
Happy birthday for yesterday Andrew :D.
I'll take Ibrahim Afellay as an AM.
Lol when i read Andrew's pick i though it said " Next I'll take Messi " :o lol
Affelay is a good pick
Alright with my pick im gonna take Georgi Schennikov he plays in LB and will be great cover, and he is a great prospect. Is already a regular in the first team at PFC CSKA Moscow, has plenty of caps for the U21 Russian side, and im sure hell make his debut Russia some time soon.
Ok my pick now. Not sure who I will pick so going to have to think about it considering we only have 3 picks. Although does everyone want to add another pick to that so we basically have 2 squads. An A squad and a B squad?
yehh thatd be nice CF :)
Well I'm going to pick the current Italian national team left back Domenico Criscito. Started his career at Juve, but now playing for Genoa. Amazing that a first choice international player is still around this late in the draft so I am going to snap him up to compete with Cissokho for the starting LB berth. He was the starting LB in the Italy squad for the world cup last year and has managed to hold on to that spot even with the change in management. Great technically and his ability to read a game and position himself correctly is second to none, he is very solid in defense and also going forward. Only 24 so heading in to the prime of his career, he is currently receiving transfer interest from Inter, Bayern Munich and Milan.
good pick CF. i think it is my pick so i will start thinking..
Thanks Luigi. Yeah it is your pick :)
I have chosen a 19 year old to assist Van Persie and Pjanic on the wing (in my B-Team) and who should play as an attacking winger I presume. Was very surprised he had not been chosen yet. I see many of you do know of him as seen in the SM leagues. A special write up for him:
He currently plays for Ajax and looks to have a long career set out in the Denmark National team. He should be at Ajax for at least another 2 years and is an exciting prospect for the future. When he grow stronger and faster he says he would like to play for Barcelona or a team in the English Premier League. Liverpool, AC Milan and Arsenal had supposedly at one time been interested in him. As a 15 year old, he rejected an offer into the Chelsea's academy. For his sake if one day he moves to a big-stage team i hope it will be at one where he will get games and will have less pressure on his performance and more emphasis on his future in terms of soccer and his development. He also shared the same birthday as my dad! He has been compared to Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart. He hasn't scored too many goals, but his skill on the ball are just phenomenal. A personal favourite young players along with Pjanic and J Martinez. Got lovely boots as well, as you can see.
Oh yeah, his name:
Christian Eriksen
(http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Ajax+v+Chelsea+VotXip58BQxl.jpg)
Luigi :)
PS: I did this write up all by myself, no copying done ;D
Nice choice Luigi. I was also surprised he hadn't been picked, but I didn't actually need him so left him for others. Well done on the write up too luigi ;)
Nice ones.
My next picks after hawka will be :-\ as I don't know many when it goes depth wise :P.
I reckon HP just pick whenever you have thought of them, don't bother waiting for hawka as he always takes ages!
I just came back from Glenferrie and haven't even thought of my picks!
Haha I knew you would say that! Well not the glenferrie bit but that part about not having picks ;)
Quote from: CrowsFan on April 19, 2011, 07:18:42 PM
Haha I knew you would say that! Well not the glenferrie bit but that part about not having picks ;)
Well it's always a while for my picks :P.
Should be up for a while tonight so will think about both of them 8).
Will we need to pick a second goalkeeper ?? ?
Generally a good idea, otherwise you are screwed if your first choice keeper gets injured ;)
I'll pick later today. I've been sick past two nights so haven't been able to think about my Soccer picks :(.
CF i sent you my picks for while i'm gone :) Thank you
Well Hawka is officially skipped haha. HP make your picks ;)
Give me a sec to get them together :).
My next 2 picks will be Attacking Midfielders just entering their 20's and have big futures ahead of them. First is Giuliano (Now playing for FC Dnipro in Ukraine) and has already had 2 caps for the Brazil national team.
My second pick goes to Sergio Canales from Real Madrid who is a great passer and playmaker with the ball at his feet.
Both nice picks HP. Worried about Canales though cos he hasn't impressed all that much since moving to Madrid, but should still turn in to a star if given time.
Well I can't be bothered waiting for hawka and I have luigis picks so will put his up in a minute, then will have to think about mine ;)
Luigi's next pick is 24 year old Italian striker Giuseppe Rossi. Ex United player, but never really got a chance to get a first team spot and was eventually sold to Villareal. Has scored 74 goals in 170 appearances for them. He has also represented Italy on 21 occasions scoring 5 goals.
Now my pick. I still need to pick another CB and midfielder, but can't think of who I want at the moment, so to keep this draft moving I will pick my back up keeper. For my back up keeper I choose Atletico Madrid number 1 (actually 13) David De Gea. Only 20 years old he is the brightest young keeper going around at the moment. Huge amount of potential, and will be the long term replacement for Casillas in the Spanish national team. For me he will be the understudy for Manuel Neuer :)
I've had my eye on Rossi for a while but don't need another striker in :P.
De Gea for Dynasty is good ;). Probably the best pair of Keepers so far (maybe the only) :P.
Can't win do well over a long period without a good keeper. Arsenal are the proof of that haha!
well seeing as i was gonna pick De Gea, that buggered me up...
Haha sorry. So who are you going to pick now as it is your turn?
how many picks have we got left ?
I think 2 or 3 but uncertain.
3 for you.
You pick you starting XI then have 11 backups so you can basically field 2 teams
well as im in need for a back up right back im going to pick the Spanish César Azpilicueta, currently injured with ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee, he is usually a starter at French club Olympique de Marseille.
I'll take a keeper for this pick.
Igor Akinfeev.
lol @ people taking world class 2nd keepers infront of field players.
Leaving both my keepers too last. Very little difference.
your pick andrew ;)
I would say keepers make a big difference andrew. If Arsenal had a good keeper they would have won trophies the last few years

Not in this when I have a pick of any keeper in the world. Very little difference between the number 6 GK in the world and the number 20, if any.
I'll take Fabio da silva.
cmon BS your pick :)
gonna do a practise exam now.. ill take my pick in about 3 hours.. SORRY GUYS..
its cause i dont know who to pick for my 2nd pick..
no worries :)
pick 1: Vedran Corluka
(http://sportsvideo24.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Vedran-Corluka.jpg)
Tottenham's right back and is only 25 years old at the momment. Will be a good substitute or play right back instead of rafael.. can also be used as a centre back
Pick 2: Martin Skrtel
(http://www.fansfc.com/UploadedImages/Players/Martin_Skrtel_624017_633570767320937500.jpg)
Liverpools big strong centre back who will be placed on the bench. At 26 he is a crucial part of liverpool's structure and also his nation Slovakia
I'll take Julio Ceasar as my GK.
I'll take another favourite player of mine, Christopher Samba.
:D
To play as a defender or striker? :P

Full forward...
I mean Centre Back. :P
Suprised hes still around ! But im gonna take Serdar Tasci currently plays for VFB Stuggart and also the German national team, usually plays as a centre back and will sometimes play as a right back.
I have been tossing up between 2 Portuguese midfielders who both graduated from the Sporting Lisbon youth academy, and have finally made up my mind, although not 100% on him. I pick 24 year old defensive midfielder Miguel Veloso. Now playing for Genoa in Italy after being transferred at the start of this season, he is a great holding midfielder as he is strong in the tackle and able to read a game and position himself expertly. Got great technique and touch and has a great work rate as he never stops running.
Nice picks (although don't know much about Veloso).
I was considering Tasci quite some picks ago (but went Musacchio instead).
My starting 11
(http://this11.com/boards/1303529178666075.jpg) (http://this11.com)
My subs, just need a GK ;)
(http://this11.com/boards/1303527944469056.jpg) (http://this11.com)
Pretty strong sides id say 8) ;)
I would have Jovetic ahead of Muller as the second striker, but that is just my opinion ;)
Just realised Luigi told me to post his picks so will do that now haha
So luigi next wants me to pick at CB, but his first 2 options he gave me in Corluka and Skrtel were both taken so BS, so his third choice needs to be picked instead. And that pick is 24 year old Swiss centre back Johan Djourou who plays for Arsenal.
great minds think alike ;)
Hawka has got 3 picks to make now... and by the time we actualy get them 4.
i think its HP's pick by now?
Yeah sorry it is HP's pick. His last 2 picks as well!
so we need pyro to get 5 of hawka's picks...
No just 4
Quote from: CrowsFan on April 25, 2011, 12:08:40 PM
Yeah sorry it is HP's pick. His last 2 picks as well!
Give me a second. Need to go searching :P. Sorry fella's, didn't know :-[.
ill make my pick later tonight if it comes round going out now ;)
My first pick is Toby Alderweireld who is a CB who can also play RB. He's a good all round defender and has room to improve with age.
My last pick will be a backup keeper to Lloris who could press for first team. He is Steve Mandanda who is a fairly solid Keeper and is still pretty young when it comes to Goalkeepers (26).
Both nice picks HP.
Should we just skip hawka now and get his picks whenever?
yeh i think so...
Ok well in that case luigi's final pick is his back up keeper. And that keeper is current Liverpool number 1 Pepe Reina. A gun of a keeper I would currently rate him as a better keeper than his other keeper Hart, but Hart has the potential to be better.
Now for my final pick I am going to choose 21 year old Atletico Madrid centre back Alvaro Dominguez. Dominquez has played for Atleti since he has 12 years old and emerged in their senior side in 2008. A defender with a large amount of potential, he is also capable of playing left back if required. Represented Spain at U19, 20 and 21 level, I think he will be one of the top defenders in a couple of years.
I also like Reina and in hindsight should have gone for him :P.
I was considering Dominguez as well but I'm an unknown in some leagues :P.
Annoyed ZZ didn't pick earlier. He was last online at 7.30 and I made my pick at 6.13 so had plenty of time to make a pick! >:(
Ok guys i'm back. Thanks a lot CF. Happy with the picks i must say :D :D
Sorry CF i thought i went off just after your pick :-/
I take Voctor Valdes with my fianl pick.
now that ive got a better idea about formations i should give a crack at my A and B starting formations. meh mite do it tomoz.

flower, okay ill take Rene Adler, if hes available still
I take Maarten Stekelenburg.
diego lopez
Now BS, then Hawka's 4 picks and weve done ;D
Hold on, what will we do when we're done again?
A 5 season simulation on football manager
+ a poll imo
kool :) and we (the manager) gets to decide tactics and formation and stuff?
oh and i havent made an account for FM
same never even played the game...
ill be doing all that. When i ask, just send your formation to me and ill show u.
Yeah we will be doing a poll too. Just to see what everyone values the other squads as.
I was thinking instead of making 1 poll where you vote for the team that you think is the best, I will make a poll for each team which can then be rated out of 10. Sound good or not?
yeh that sounds better.
Also will results etc. be posted after each season ?? then we can change ou squads according to rating changes etc. ?
Yea i like the out of 10 idea
also why r we rating everyones team anyway? I mean its a good idea but why?
and also r we rating formations as well or just squads?
How else do you decide who has a better team? It is what we do with every draft that gets run.
Formation needs to be taken in to account when rating a team, if you're not playing players in their best positions you wont get the best out of them
Ok.. official last pick.. apart from hawka
i pick
Gianluigi Buffon
(http://www.sportandcinema.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/buffon.jpg)
May be getting along with age but still a world class goalkeeper and is said to be the best keeper ever in his prime. will be a good back up for valdes or even play first team.
was thinking bout him but went someone a bit younger.
So now we wait...
oh and do we rate the B-Team?
yehh depth should come into it
but do we put up a formation of a B-Team to rate?
or do we just name who else is in our squad?
that's one for CF to answer :P
You can do it how you want, you can show how they would fit in to the first team lineup or you can just list them, or do whatever you please. Whatever you think will make others think your squad is the best ;)

I already picked luigi.. this was my pick
all good :)
Nice work guys :)
Gerrad is steal of the draft IMO, but i dont know my soccer very well so forgive me :P
OMG!!! I just realized a striker that no one picked that really should have been!
His initials are R.F
A FWD or Striker however you call it
Plays in the Portuguese Liga
Just because he scored alot last week LWeeGee ::). He's good and things like that happen :P.
Still he should have at least been chosen in someones reserves. oh well...
Also, seeing this was for the next 5 years thing i chose Hart, but then i also chose Reina. Even though Hart is younger and will last longer, ATM Reina is better, so when i draw my formation for everyone, should i have Reina starting?
If you think he's better short-term. Then can switch them later on when Hart is better.
oh alrite. thanks
pretty sure reina's been chosen lol
yea that was me lol
R.F. cant think of who that is right now ???

Falcao. Can't be stuffed stuffing up spelling his first name :P.
So not Robbie Fowler then? ;)
not Robin Fan Persie? :P
OK so I'm thinking that we should probably pick the remaining 4 players for hawka, cos otherwise we could be waiting around forever for the picks!
Looking through the draft I have created a pretty basic set up for his team, plus reserves which I think would look like this:
First Team
Cech
Maicon - Badstuber - Terry - Lahm
Nani - De Rossi - Cahill - Ribery
Villa - Pato
Reserves/Backup
GK
RB - Smalling - Lucio - LB
RW Fellaini - Obi Mikel - Kroos
Hernandez - Adebayor
So basically we need to pick a keeper, RB, LB and RW for hawka. Who should we pick for him?
I was thinking for each position he could take
GK - Fernando Muslera (Lazio) - 24 year old Uruguayan keeper. Current national number 1 and got a promising future.
RB - Lorenzo De Silvestri (Fiorentina) - 22 year old offensive full back and first choice at Fiorentina.
LB - Aleksandar Kolarov (Man City) - 25 year old attacking left back with a rocket of a shot and free kick.
RW - Douglas Costa (Shaktar) - plays more as an AM, but capable of playing on either wing, and is only 20.
Any objections?
Only players I know there are Muslera and Costa (not much on Kolarov). But if we are to speed up the draft, guess so :-\.
My formations will be up later. What was that site again to make the XI?
this11.com ;)
wow.. how did douglas costa get missed in the draft? a super talent..
i hate kolarov cause he always owns me on FM11.. :(

Second XI:

happy with hawka's picks.
might have to do my formations tomoz. should prob study tonight!
Ok well I guess I might as well explain my picks now. My first XI is wearing black and second XI wearing blue:
(http://this11.com/boards/1304485999815356.jpg) (http://this11.com/boards/1304486208827050.jpg)
Basically my second XI are all like for like replacements for the first teamers so that if one of them is injured or cannot play due to suspension etc there is an exact replacement who can come in and fill the void so that tactics don't need to be changed around too much, giving the team consistency in the way they play.
The backline is very easy to explain here, you have the 2 CB's who are both very capable of winning the ball in the tackle or sitting off and holding up the play. In the RB position both Srna and VDW are quite attacking and love to get forward and whip in crosses. Srna starts as the number one due to his experience and better attacking ability. For the LB position I rate Cissokho and Criscito pretty much the same, but they have different strengths. Cissokho is more of a natural defender than Criscito so he starts due to the attacking FB on the right so need some defensive balance, but if needed Criscito can come on and provide more run up front.
The midfield will consist of 3 men playing together. In the first XI Diarra will be used as the defensive midfielder. It will be his job to sit deeper than the others, just in front of the defense and win the ball off the opposition before they can create attacks. Schweinsteiger will be used as a box to box midfielder, he doesn't stop running and he will pop up all over the park whether that is in defense or attack to help out. Fabregas will be deployed as the playmaker, he won't be expected to defend all that much and instead get into space and create chances for the forwards. The reserves are all very capable of playing these roles too, with Veloso the defensive mid, Sissoko the box to box mid and Gourcuff the playmaker.
Up front I will play a 3 man attack consisting of 1 centre forward and 2 wingers. The wingers will be deployed as attacking and no defending is expected of them. It is their job to bring the ball up the wings and use their pace to beat defenders and either whip in crosses for the striker or cut in themselves and have a shot. Both Di Maria and Sanchez possess great pace and skill on the ball and so can do this easily. As do their backups Vargas and Ljajic. The role of the centre forward, which will be either Rooney or Hulk is to provide an option up front and hassle the defenders when they have the ball. Both men are strong and so can be utilised as a target man to play the ball to and hold it up if needed or as a more attacking role.
Basically this formation uses 5 guys defending (the defense plus the DM) and 4 guys attacking (the forwards and AM), plus a link man in between (box to box mid). The bonus with a lot of my players is they can play a number of positions. Chiellini can play LB if needed, Schweini and Sissoko can also play the defensive mid role, whilst Sanchez can also play up front and Hulk out on the wing. Vargas can also drop back to LB in a real emergency. With the added versatility in my squad they should be ok even with a big injury crisis :)
i have good news, hawka has promised me that he will have his 4 picks done by after school tomorrow, i wont be on until about 6:30 though so ill post them then

Unfortunately I didn't pick well enough to have the same formation, but all in all i think it is well done :)

PS: There weren't enough tabs in This11 so I used this site instead, handy! :)
Thoughts anyone??
What do we need to get a move on now? What are we awaiting on?
think we're waiting on hawka..
Sorry haven't made a formation yet.
Will tomorrow night.
Im going away for a few weeks. So won't be able to do the FM sim till then. Someone else can do it, or can wait till I get back. Up to you.
alrite some 1 tel me wat i need to do lol
Well hawka. Are you happy with the picks CF did for u? If not pick different ones instead that haven't been chosen yet.
Once with 22 players: Create two formations, one starting and one reserves. Just like i and others have, using This11 or Footballuser.
Once everyone has done their formations, Andrew, or his replacement since he is going away (most likely CF) will plug it into FM and them we should have simulated games i suppose.
LOL ?

i still want to. Is Andrew back from Europe or whatever?
Well andrew and hawka (i think it was) never submitted their teams so I could never create the poll, and andrew hasn't been seen in a long time so don't think he is ever going to run the FM sim. Sorry guys
oh well.... :(
