Title: FFPL Matchday 7 Thread
Post by: MajorLazer on January 20, 2011, 02:28:30 AM
Another week has passed and it's time for another round of the FFPL.

Round 6 caused a few upsets and shook the table with teams going in all directions. Here is the ladder after Round 6:

Standings
Pos   Team   Matches   Wins   Losses   Ties   Points   NRR   For   Against
1    Gunz n Rozez    6    5    1    0    20    +1.2279    1311 / 257.2    1160 / 300.0
2    Hello    6    5    1    0    20    +0.3162    1622 / 294.2    1522 / 293.0
3    The Brat Pack    6    4    2    0    16    +0.8239    1567 / 299.5    1240 / 281.4
4    Feeling Sheepish    6    3    3    0    12    +0.6779    1456 / 300.0    1222 / 292.4
5    Roo Boys!    6    3    3    0    12    +0.2532    1674 / 293.0    1618 / 296.2
6    John Howard's Coathangers    6    3    3    0    12    +0.0006    1660 / 300.0    1634 / 295.2
7    Fletch's No Balls    6    3    3    0    12    -0.3379    1468 / 290.0    1620 / 300.0
8    DazBurg's Greatness    6    2    4    0    8    -0.6092    1271 / 300.0    1394 / 287.4
9    Tickle My Timber    6    2    4    0    8    -0.6286    1356 / 291.3    1475 / 279.2
10    Academy of Ireland and Aus    6    0    6    0    0    -1.6667    1258 / 300.0    1758 / 300.0

Match-ups

All matches are at 00:00 FTP Time.

Feeling Sheepish (4th) vs. Fletch's No Balls (7th)
Pitch:Flat
Weather:Cloudy
These two teams are equal on points with only NRR  separating 4th from 7th. If Fletch's No Balls win, they could see themselves catipulting up to as high as 3rd on the table, but results would still need to go their way. The same result is possible for Feeling Sheepish. Both teams had a win last week, with Feeling Sheepish taking a convincing win, while Fletch's No Balls won with one wicket to spare against John Howard's Coathangers.

Prediction: Feeling Sheepish wins.

Hello (2nd) vs. DazBurg's Greatness (8th)
Pitch:Green
Weather:Cloudy
Last week saw these two teams have a mixed affair of results. Hello shocked previously undefeated league leaders Gunz n Rozez (The bribe might've worked), while DazBurg's Greatness couldn't pull of an upset against Tickle My Timber. Could this match confirm the status of "Legend Killers" for DazBurg's Greatness? Or will Hello be saying Goodbye after coming up victorious?

Prediction: Hello wins.

John Howard's Coathangers (6th) vs. Gunz n Rozez (1st)
Pitch:Green
Weather:Cloudy
Gunz n Rozez has been in a form slump recently losing 3 consecutive matches after last round's FFPL match against Hello. Gunz n Rozez manager, BOOMZ, has been disappointed to say the least with these results and on several occasions, has threatened to sell the whole team. John Howard's Coathangers is also in a big form slump winning only 2 in their last 7 matches in all forms of the game, with 3 matches being decided by 1 wicket. This will be the first encounter for these two teams this season.

Prediction: Gunz n Rozez wins.

Academy of Ireland and Aus (10th) vs. Roo Boys! (5th)
Pitch:Flat
Weather:Cloudy
In the last match of the round, we see Academy of Ireland and Aus still looking to pick up their first win of this season's FFPL. Roo Boys! have had a decent start to the competition winning half of their matches so far. This match looks one sided on paper and looks as the Academy of Ireland and Aus will have a tough time trying to hold off Roo Boys! deadly spinner/all-rounder Shaggy Chiba who has hit a purple patch after a recent name change.

Prediction: Roo Boys! wins.

Tickle My Timber (9th) vs. The Brat Pack (3rd)
Pitch:Green
Weather:Cloudy
This match should be a tight and contested battle between two of the stronger teams in the FFPL. Tickle My Timber sit at a lowly 9th, but have outrated their opponents in all but two games. The Brat Pack started the competition well and have only lost two matches thus far. These two teams also played a friendly last Sunday, where Tickle My Timber won by 4 wickets. I think this game could be a repeat of the match that took place on Sunday.

Prediction: Tickle My Timber wins.

Will be interesting it's a green pitch and I have 2 mediums, an FM & 2 spinners which could hurt me I just hope my mediums perform... Have a new batsman that I got today have gone with him as opener so it would be great if he goes well there.

I have 2 medium, a fasty and 2 spinners. Haven't made any transfers in a while, but looking to make one soon.

Yeah I didn't really want to but my batsmen have been letting me down so I went for it even though he's a bit old...

Fair enough. I'm looking at a 25 year old outs/outs FS.

Hope I get him.

He would be a great addition to the Coathangers.

Realised I'm playing 2 fasties instead of 2 spinners. Forgot green was no good for spinners.

Once again, a nice write-up for the games ML.

A few things however to note regarding Sunday's game with BP, it was on a Sticky pitch. Totally different game. My stronger bowlers actually had the chance to do the damage. :D

Tickle My Timber   The Brat Pack
Batting - Top Order:   9,647   9,231
Batting - Middle Order:   7,726   7,661
Batting - Tail:   3,839   3,217
Bowling - Seam:   9,378 (6)   8,512 (6)
Bowling - Spin:   10,390 (4)   8,766 (4)

Fielding/Keeping:   8,521   8,274
Overall:   155,486   145,109

It was a rather significant advantage as well.

Now tomorrows match, I have an exp/exp Medium who I am honestly undecided on playing yet. My line up currently as it is in is 2 Fast, 1 FM, 1 M and 1 FS in Lidgerwood who has to play due to AR needs.

My only concern though is dropping Hart, a WS, losses me an Expert summary bowler with reliable experience for a Reliable summary Medium with poor experience. So chances are I will go back to 2 spinners before the start of the match.

You played BP on Sunday. :P

Thanks Shaggy, they are pretty good for stuff done at 2 am. :P

I think that you have to play your mediums. It's a pitch designed for them, so play them.

Nice write up ML. I'm turning into the Legend Killer :P. Daz could upset as I'm playing 2 Mediums, 2 FM's and a Fasty (Ahead of a better Spinner). Might not work but it could as pitch/weather favour seamers 8).

Looks to be a good set of matches this week and could see some upsets!!!

Superb effort ML in the write up.

No need to worry Alex, you will cream me on a flat pitch, my batsmen are my weakest link... Easy win ;)

I am batting first on a flat :)
I need to put up a HUGE total :)

Tried a bit of a different setup putting Yavar at 4 instead of 5 and Hay down at 5 with Linton opening. Linton in accomplished form so he should go well.

1.2   W   Siggs to Linton : [catch] That one has hit Linton's foot and ballooned to second slip. Beveridge and Siggs both appeal for the catch and the umpire has given him! Replays show he was probably out LBW too.
A. Linton c R. Beveridge b. W. Siggs 1 (7b 0x4 0x6) SR:14.29
Dodgy way to go out but that experiment didn't go well. Prepare to face SHAGMEISTER!

9.3   2   Abdellah to Abdul-Wahad : [dropped] Abdul-Wahad's not got onto that as well as he'd hoped. Rudraraju is out in the deep and it goes down! Oh dear... and if it could get any worse for Abdellah there's 2 runs more to the score.

::) that's how it all starts... I drop them and then they score a ton.

11.5   W   Taylor to Abdul-Wahad : [catch] That's very full from Taylor, it's just about waist height and Abdul-Wahad has absolutely creamed that down to deep extra cover where he picks out McCormack. The umpires are checking with each other here, there seems to be some confusion, and it seems it is NOT a no ball. Abdul-Wahad is on his way, and he is fuming with that decisio

End of over 33 (3 runs) - Fletch's No Balls(152-3). 117 runs required from 17 overs. RR 4.61 RRR 6.88
H. Crawford 37 (54b) , R. Beveridge 47 (65b) , A. Sodumo 7-0-39-1

Alex at the same time was 164-4, so should be close if I don't lose wickets.

33.4 W Rimmington to Beveridge : Terrible batting from Beveridge. I could have driven a double decker bus through the gap between his bat and pad, so it's no surprise to see the off stump pegged back.

I just realised Alex you scored 91 runs in the last 10 overs, so I need to be ahead of what you were at 40 overs to be any chance I reckon...

ATM I am behind you, so I think I'll fall short. Junior smashed me around in that last 10 overs :'(

Big innings by Ingall, a much needed 80 will definitely save his spot in my side for a while to come yet.

I now have the 3rd highest rating thus far in the FFPL. :>

Play Q next week, FINALLY he can't dodge my challenges.  Haha take that!

Pitch   Hard
Weather (forecast)   Sunny

I should be able to play my strongest team, so I have a big chance at taking #1 in the highest ratings. :D

Batting - Top Order: 8,850 8,866
Batting - Middle Order: 6,745 6,537
Batting - Tail: 3,386 2,386

Bowling - Spin: 0 (0) 0 (0)
Fielding/Keeping: 9,798 7,274
Overall: 140,352 127,690

Won by 54 runs but was closer than expected. Went in with an all seam attack with Bennett costing alot (ahead of Sreed ::)). Kamb and Goss did well with the ball with Flanagan and Morgan doing what they do best (economy rate). Jeffers and Selth stayed in for a while to help steady the boat after a top order collapse. Kamb did well with the bat adding in 34 from 18 to show why he should stay in the team :).

Rahmann picked up 3 wickets for Daz with Taufel being his best all round bowler. Black only 1 to crack 50 for Daz with Manou and Masood falling short by 10+ runs.
