Title: Sidebottom Vs. Sylvia
Post by: TOM15 on January 11, 2011, 11:06:41 AM
they are roughly the same price and i have room for one who do you think is going to be a better pick for my sc team this year?

Sylvia for sure.  No need to debate.
Hes at that age for him to become a gun i think hes finally past his injury issues and discipline issues.  My only problem that he might play so well that he might get tagged.  Also he has no byes opposed to Sidbottoms two.  Sidebottom is still only young and i cant see him becoming a genuine prem this year

No byes as apposed to 2? This must be a stupid question but Melbourne have a bye in rounds in rounds 5 & 16. Am I missing something?

They mean League byes. Melbourne don't have any byes during the League year while Pies have both during the league season.

I prefer Sylvia as well. Sidey is great, remember him in the TAC final. He's got the hype but don't think he'd live up to it but will be very good. Sylvia I was tossing up last season and will for this season also, more so than Sidey.

I was looking at him even before the fixtures came out. But I prefer him as more of an upgrade option but forwards are far from settled as well.

sidebum will be good in dt not so sure in sc hope he proves me wrong...

sylvia is a bit fragile for me...
games played:

2005: 16
2006: 15
2007: 16
2008: 18
2009: 17
2010: 15

so on average he is missing a game every 3 or 4 games played over his career (havent included 2004 where he played 3games)

Marcz thats interesting to see he hasnt played a full season.
Last year i think he was only out for that blood clot which is pretty feakish sort of reason to be out.  On the most part i think his injury worries are behind him.

Can look here as it applied to SC also (injuries and scoring streak) ;):

Haha, Cheers Marcz. Did it a while back and makes for sense to get him as the upgrade option although see how he could be started with.

i want to start him in my pure league team.

Both are good but at the end of the day, u r only getting either of them coz u dont have enough to get a better premium. Sylvia cool i like him and has more experience, though i like the looks of sidebottom and has a lot of talent.

ATM IMO Sidebottom
