hey everyone,
I was looking at Joel Selwood and I am not sure how he will perform this year.
What will he average?
Will he get tagged?
How will a new coach and gameplan affect his scoring?
Is anyone else picking him up?
Is he the best pick under $460 000?
Thoughts?
Cheers, Hally :)
He will get the number one tag with Ablett leaving and it could potentially effect his scoring. His scoring may drop 5-10 points but he has not yet been seen against a heavy tag and it may not affect him.
I will just keep him as an upgrade target so that i can see how no Ablett effects him.
comments please - really important as i dont want to lock in a premium who underperforms
Joel has handled tags before & always has been able to handle it very well.
The NAB will be interesting this year for some guidance, me I would be looking at him as an upgrade target.
I think Selwood will continue to gun this year and it's difficult to tag a guy who burrows his way to the bottom of a pack. HOWEVER, remember that Geelong have the bye round 2 of the fantasy finals. You don't want to bench your premiums in a sudden death final

hally my mids is very similar to you,
1st thing i did was drop montanga if going for overall as both him and boyd miss rd 4, then i ll get montanga in after rd 4,
2nd selwood for me is fighting it out with Hodge & Kornes
3rd. the problem i found is if you don't want two premiums from the same bye round in the one line and your getting goddard (backs) chappy (forward), no ablett (yet) or carlton players (sideways at finals)
your picks would be
Bartel, Hodge, mitchell & Kornes
mitchell is the last of the 100 plus midfielders, these guys arent the choice i would make from mids (except bartel), but realistically if you want Swan & Boyd & are heading along the same stratergy as me then thats your choices
hope that all makes sense
imo he goes up another notch... no info just gut feeling
if he didnt have that rd22 bye id lock him in

depending on my finals situation could be my final mid but i hav 2 others in the mix for that spot without a late bye so unlikely unless he is literally must hav

yea that makes sense chopps and its certainly something to think about
i have decided to look at selwood as an upgrade target and have liam anthony instead
dont think so for me
hally - same for me i have had selwood last two years and really want to start him come round 7 he will be coming in i think
Without stating the obvious, maybe its a call on how you think the Cats will go this year?
If you think that the era has ended and they will decline over the next few years while they rebuild, then it would be reasonable to expect that their stats will go down as well. They will have a swag of retirements in the next few years (Milburn/Mooney/Ottens/Corey/Hunt/Ling/Scarlett/Pods/Enright and Chappy maybe)
I didnt start DTing until 2005.. Can anyone confirm if this (big drop in stats) happened after the BL era ended??
