Tom Derickx
Summary:
Yet another mature-age story, Tom Derickx (X-Factor a good nick-name?) is a massive ruckman. 23 years old, 201cm, 100kg. HUGE frame. Even Sandi will struggle to push him around. However, has only played 1 year for the Claremont seniors in the WAFL.
THE GIANT! (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/tom-derickx-has-the-x-factor/story-e6frf9jf-1225962945070)
The Crystal Ball:
Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $87,500
Position: RUC
I'm still of the opinion that clubs will rarely choose older players if they don't intend to play them straight away. Richmond already have a promising ruckmen in Angus Graham, but with Simmonds retiring perhaps there is room for both.
Decision:
Could provide a very handy 4th ruckmen. You don't want to spend much more than $87,500 for a 4th ruckmen, and if he gets games could prove very handy in a pinch due to byes and unforeseen injuries. Clearly putting him in the short-lits category. I mean, 201cm and 100kg? Geez.
50/50 for me. Don't know much about him. Need to see more of him first before I can make a decision. There are probably other 4th ruckmen's better placed than him ATM, but if he plays in the NAB cup and does well, then he could line up in my side.
a chance for me purely because he has an unnecessary x in his name, which i love.
could be a chance for a 4th ruck
Don't rate richmonds rucks at all o I think he'll get games. Definitely shortlisted.
Things bogans like. Mispelling names and names with the letter X
Think he was having a go at Derickx not you JT :)
*substitutes tom derickx into argument*
lol chill boys ;)
dont know with this bloke. will see i guess ???

are you calling me a bogan? or tom derickx? i find it funny that you spelled "misspelling" wrong whilst calling somebody on their spelling.
calm down son, very sensitive. Wasn't having a go at you. Google "things bogans like". Its a book and website dedicated to the shifting identity of the Aussie bogan. High on the list is for instance spelling the name "Jackson" with an X making it "Jaxon". Not a spelling error, simply spelling your childs name with an X to be different. Although in this case its his last name, so he really had no choice. Either way funny book/site you should check it out.
thanks for the post Ossie.
On Deickx, unlikely yeah?
Lots of options for cheap rucks - Z Smith, MacDonald/Daw for MPP with Petrie, etc even faint possibilities of Day and Lycett??

Yeah he can also play very well as a key forward, he did it pretty well when Gorringe was in the ruck in the under 18 champs

Very different playing as a forward at AFL level though & with Darling there too I don't think he will get much game time in the ruck or forward unless Cox gets injured.
I doubt it for me, but if he does show some promising signs in the NAB cup then $87,500 can't go to waste ;)
Either daw or him for me.
My current 4th ruck is McNamara to save some money, but if I can find a spare 10k floating around this guy would be a better choice.

same also, although will be keeping an eye on him now ;)
It's true Barlow. Some players get into my team because of name or appearance.
Like on FTP ;D
Yer. Sometimes you just can't help it. :P
I know ;D
