Title: Stephen Hill Round 1
Post by: MiGZ on February 16, 2009, 03:33:42 PM
We all noticed his debut game, and we all realise his value. But is Harvey going to play him Round 1...or later on in the year? Surely he has to be played sometime, even with his skinny frame. He looks to be the only backline player with any value on the bench (along with Maguire), and the only one who may have a chance of playing 10+ games this season. What do you all think now after his first game?

I'd be looking to fit him into my team but ensuring at the same time that I have a reasonable #8 back in the mix as cover.
I too must admit that finding cheap backs is difficult but more will hopefully present themselves as the pre season continues.

So your thinking about putting him into your starting 22 then Hawks_1976??? Not just a bench option?

Possibly.
The fact that he is such a light kid means that Freo would be crazy to put him through too many games, I think.
I'd be hoping for 8 - 12 with a long term vision to upgrade.
I feel there is a real shortage of lower priced guaranteed starters in the backline. The midfield and forwards seem to have more cheap options I think.
Therefore Hill has to come into consideration as a #7/8 backman IMO.
