Yeah welcome Ruckus, and I agree with you on the BreakEvens and price changes on here, they really help with deciding trades. Another thing that I have found very helpful is the Rollercoaster, for DT and SC.

Do you want me to explain the COOL comment to you or not to worry?

also a good tip on who to pick is the depth charts.. HP mentioned it a little while back..

but the depth charts are in order of who is kost lioeoy to get a game.. then you look at the positions.. inside/outside midfielders etc etc

OK Ruckus here we go...

I am assuming that you know of a well known and frequent poster on this site named Master Q?

Well, he has said in the past that he has had a previous account on this forum, but has not revealed the name of it.

If you want a link to a thread about it..
wait no i can't give it to you because it is on the Coaches board, which i shouldnt mention so none of this was ever said.. ;D

Anyway, many people have suspected his previous account was someone called "footycool" who was a prolific thread starter like Q and it all seems to piece together.

So if you read the joke that naste made you will see that the two words in red are COOL and FOOTY

Hence, footycool, the joke.

CFC whether its via SEN or not it is an interesting set of numbers.

Just one thing, do the Carlton stats over the same period look any better? Was it 2 or 3 spoons? Carlton are also going backwards from last year and coming off a huge walloping on the w/e?

Yeah I love the work you are doing with this thread, keep it up!
Great to see more people voting, and also getting some more nominations, especially also from some other people that aren't regulars down in the FB.

Any chance of an early nomination for Jeff Geishan for stating that all 7 50m penalties that resulted in goals against Essendon last week were justified.
I'm not a bombers fan by any means but even I was getting frustrated with that rubbish. >:(

Rookie umpires overexaggerating things :P. I'm over it as the better team did win on the day ::).

All the free kicks had merit but were very weak. If every player was called for that it would be mayham ;).

Surely CFC we are building towards a tool of the year.

My early favourites:

Setanta - because we'll be talking about his football ability in 10 years
Chad Cornes - because he should be nominated every year & this may be his last.
Tyson Edwards/McCleod - joint winners for the end of the most destructive relationship between 2 stars in the same side
Gary Ablett - for taking the money & watching his form dive (to be confirmed)
Matthew Knights - for being the worst coash of 2010.

Just my thoughts

i nominate EAGLE4LIFE for the following dialogue:

biggest impact? Are you high and my afl knowledge is a lot better than yours mate and i didn't look up any stats that was from the top of my head. he is expected to retire he should he's a has-been - EAGLE4LIFE - yesterday
• haha, yeah sure check up and post their stats. you'll find tredders had a bigger impact. no need to use caps either. and i picked 2001-2005 because he was at his most damaging in those years before he got injured in 2006. you're afl knowledge leaves a lot to be desired mate. - numberwang - yesterday
• LLOYD, GOODES, BROWN AND AKERMANIS (RARLY PLAYED CHF) BRAD JOHNSON REASON WHY YOU PICKED 2001- 05 IS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD BREAKOUT YEARS IN 06 - EAGLE4LIFE - 2 days ago
• no, i said best CHF. but in those five seasons he had 1745 disposals, 874 marks and 282 goals. tell me who was better... - numberwang - 2 days ago
• its a coincidence that i wrote that comment to specifically power you off. btw best forward 2001-2005 i think your forgetting a lot of people - EAGLE4LIFE - 2 days ago
• don't think so EAGLEFORLIFE, i think that spot has been reserved for the eagles mate ;) well done tredders. best CHF 2001-2005. all the best mate - numberwang - 2 days ago
• his club is going to finish last - EAGLE4LIFE - 18 days ago

Sorry Hellopplz, I know its early in the week but I'm putting you up for nomination for trading in Fev for Round 18. I mean, really we are all meant to be professionals, what were you thinking?

However should Fev kick 5 or more goals this week, the nomination should flip to myself for questioning your unquestioned genius. Does that seem fair?
you beat me 2 it mate. especially now that gumby has gone down and fev scored 1! and a hip injury to boot. sorry HP lol

I don't take public transport but I get people yelling out from their cars at me ;D.

I am not willing to say how much I was offered by New Idea and other magazines :-X. I can say however it was single figures :P.

Not only did he get it wrong, but how could you possibly think that a bloke could miss a shot from that distance. I it ridiculous.
Title: Re: tool of the week
Post by: numberwang on August 09, 2010, 01:06:09 AM
I think the point was the umpire thought he kicked only after the ball crossed the line. Think about it, sure he got himself in a spot where he earned the goal but if his foot was over and it was only a behind and geelong won by as much we'd still be talking about it.

Fact of the matter is, video reply is needed, plain and simple. The only bad thing about that is if every second call goes to the reply.

This action would be doing the opposite of what the afl want...slowing the game down. Hmm...ponders.

Who do you think will take over the captaincy reins??
Betstar has the following odds...
Van Berlo @ $2.00 (Perth boy-could be used as trade bait for Pav) :-\
Ben Rutten @ $4.00 (Not the leader people think-Basset was) ???
Scott Thompson @ $5.00 (off field dramas-GFC) :-\
Chris Knights @ $8.00 (injuries and Victorian - think Kane/Richmond) ::)
Bernie Vince @ $11.00 (not in leadership currently/off field drama) :-X
Nathan Bock @ $15.00 (changed man, most intelligent, decision maker) ;D
Patrick Dangerfield @ $26.00 (still hasn't signed,maybe VC to stay) :)

Source on the odds was Adelaide  Advertiser, pg107, May 29.

I'd get on Bocky, Moonta boy , not going anywhere!

I'd like to nominate the Adelaide Football club for the public humiliation of Bock. He has served the club well, he has left for employment elsewhere for more money, what does public humiliation achieve?

Perhaps they could have taken a public stance during the 10 years Edwards & McCleod weren't speaking rather than cover it up pretending everything was ok.

Does anybody think it is that bad Bock left for money?

I mean, say you work for a store, you are an ass manager, you get offered a job at another store as manager working for more money? He can only play footy for so long he needs to make as much as he can from it.
Title: Re: tool of the week
Post by: Cruiseon on August 18, 2010, 09:43:13 AM

Too many people chasing individual glory here, it's a bit tedious.

Alex I don't think it's a mortal sin him leaving for money. He is not going to play in a flag at Adelaide for the next 4-5 years, the lifestyle will be 10 times better at the GC and he might just relish a change.

I'm not saying Adelaide should be happy about it, but the way they handled it was exceptionally B-grade. If any other employer did that they could well be sued, certainly their reputation in the business community would plummitt. I think there was poor leadership shown.

Hence my nomination.

Just a thought.

I think there should be two elimination finals with half of the winners in each, otherwise it will be hard to get a clear winner (heaps of 2 or 3 votes).

Perhaps the top 2 from each group go through to the final???

Stringing it out also gives the sponsors their moneys worth.

It is topical but not current but I would like to nominate the West Coast Eagles for covering up and indeed fostering a drug culture at a club for many years. Mainwairing, Cousins, Fletcher, Chick the list goes on & on, let alone the ones who remain unknown.

During the Cousins doco, at no point at any time did the Eagles stand in and do anything rather they decided to make him captain!

trying to take credit for a feel good story when the reality is they knew WCE had a drug culture and benny was on the juice but did f@#k all about it and hung him out to dry to make an example of him

I would like to nominate the Essendon FC Board for the Matthew Knights debarcle over the last 3 years. The board achieved nothing but damage to the club - can you have a board of tools??
I'd like to second that on the basis that they should be sacked themselves for not showing faith in someone. Well put cruise, they're the ones that have caused the drop in revenue over the past few years, not Matthew Knights.

tool of the year will be decided by the past winners form round 14 - 22

so if you want someone up now is the time, then lobby hard before nominations for tool of the year come out

Yep. Brought him in and showing him the door a year after making the 8 just because of Hird ::).

ossie

as we will have 9 finalists i think i'll split it 2 semi's of 4 + 5 ( i'll draw out of a hat to be fair ). run this for Wednesday + Thursday then top 2 in each final go through to tool of the year GF. Prob run this from Thursday night through to Monday night. i might hide the vote tally ( i think it can be done ) so it will be a mystery to all

next year if we have 24 rounds makes it a bit easier to make up a finals system

Hate how Knights got the sack.

So many people have forgotten last year so quickly ::). I've been sceptical at times but another year should see if he could really help the players move on.

Title: Re: tool of the week
Post by: Cruiseon on August 31, 2010, 09:15:28 AM

Essendon are a joke, they deserve to languish for several years.  Makes you realise how important Sheedy actually was them, suddenly as a club they lack an identity.

One question, is it just me or does it feel like Mark Williams fits Essendon for no particular reason?
Title: Re: tool of the week
Post by: ossie85 on August 31, 2010, 09:22:43 AM

I reckon Mark Williams at Essendon sounds really good actually. I also like the idea of Neale Daniher
Title: Re: tool of the week
Post by: Cruiseon on August 31, 2010, 09:36:26 AM

Ossie, there is one man no-one has mentioned and would be the story of the year. A man with Premiership experience, a man with strong Essendon ties, a man with vision for the club.

Yes bring back Sheeds!!!!!!

That would be fun however unlikely.

Lol Cruis. He should just ditch GWS :P.

I like Williams. Did well with Port except for last couple of years. Hird go assistant first. Could turn into the next Voss instead of a Brad Scott.

Williams and Laidley have had meeting with the bombers before the season ended. They wanted 1 or both of them as assistants/behind the scene guys.

Although I'm happy, I'm all for giving the coaches another year to prove themselves. Knights hasn't been in the coaching game for years upon years like some of the veterans. He has to build up the team for it. Would Geelong be where they are today if they didn't Keep A Little Faith in Thompson?

CFC do I know too much about tools? Is there any danger I might become one?

If we assume Essendon win this nomination I think I've made 3 of the last 4 weeks successful nominations. Maybe I should give up my coach status for 'Tool nominator'?
