Title: How will SC work when the 17th team comes is??
Post by: steven_ora on March 28, 2010, 10:14:47 AM
So how will Supercoach work when 17 teams are in the AFL??
This obviously means 1 team will have a week off every round and what happens if u have 3 players from the same team in the mids for example???

So my question is what happens when ur player(s) have a week off next year???

this would apply for dt as well

i reckon you will have 3 subs in each field maybe more trades and more money in the cap
but only for 2011

This is one of the main reasons why they've brought in the MPP option.  Not sure what else will come in?

If you search this site, you'll find a lot of discussion on the matter, from last year.

Glenn Laft said they are looking at extending the benches as well.

Probably extended benches and cap, and the season winner will be the person who does the best arbitrage in upgrading people who are about to have a bye to people who have had their bye already...

If teams have two byes next year how will fantasy teams be affected?

I think we will have to wait and see as the new teams coming in will make a big change to fantasy footy.

Just imagine how many rookies will be playing for gold coast in the first year.

All your bench players could be from the gold coast as you know they will be playing and this would make it too easy so there will have to be dramatic changes.

I think this topic has come up before :S

But yes, it will be interesting to find out!

I think it will be great if they don't change it around too much. Just increase the salary cap. It will make who you have as your emergencies, even more important

Not all teams will have 2 byes...

But knowing how these things tend to go, Collingwood will get umpteen byes, playing Geelong/St Kilda once and have 20 games at the MCG.

don't think average score will be fair. I like the idea of a deviation between their highest and lowest score with a random one picked.

Been ideas thrown around that it should be a 17 round year or Have extended benches + more salary cap to cover all the byes.

A big thing next year will be not packing your team full of players from 1 team.

my argument exactly....having extended benches n more salary cap does nothing to me coz i hav 8 geelong players.....doesnt seem fair n couldn work unless u had a cap for the number of players per team....
Title: Question about supercoach next year...
Post by: winks88 on May 14, 2010, 01:05:05 PM
Not 100% sure if this has been discussed before but I was just wondering what is going to happen to player scoring with Gold Coast coming in next year?

With 17 sides there will be one side having a bye each week. Say I had Selwood, Ablett and Chapman in my midfield, the week Geelong has the bye that will be 3 premiums getting zeros.

Is there going to be anyy changes to the amount of emergencies for each position, will it require better team management or will it be a rule where players be allocated their average for the week their team has the bye?

Any thoughts (or answers)?

I reckon you should be able to trade any player that has a bye for free.

but syaing that, say if ablett has a bye and you bring in dane swan for free, and dane swan doesnt have a bye that next week, will it cost you a trade to bring in ablett back for dane swan or will you keep dane swan and bring ablett back in for someone else?
OR
would you only be able to trade out say ablet who has the bye for someone who is having the bye the following week?

they will give us more money tomake better subs so when they have a buy u can swap them in, only problem is that you cant have too many from the same team

How the hell is supercoach going to work next year? With the bye coming into play, how will the players not playing score in your team? my thinking is they will score zero, which will mean more dohnuts in our weekly scores or we will be given more players on the interchange. OR we will be given and average score of the player, (what if they dont have an average yet?) either way, everyone is going to have to take note of which players wont be playing round 22 for the league GFs

Karl Langdon hosts a nightly sports show in Perth 6-8pm on 6PR, the biggest sport station. He does SuperCoach and Dream Team. According to him, you will be able to trade out any player who has a bye in the coming week and it doesn't as one of your twenty trade. I don't know if this is right or not. It will create problems that's for sure.

thats wot i was thinkin that u can trade the people out for anyone  at or below the same price without using the trade....and if u hav money in ur bank that can be used with the trade!!!

So when Geelong have a bye, you will trade out GAJ, Selwood, Bartel, Chapman etc? So would we trade out all our keepers and then bring them back in the next week? I don't think so.

To Malteser Man, what the hell are you on about saying that not all teams will have two byes?  What a load of crap.  Do you think that certain teams will have more byes than others?  You must be mad!

Correct!

When they last had an odd number of teams - they had a round where 9 or so teams had the bye in one week. If that happens again things will get very interesting

maybe we will just get an extra bench player covering fwd, mid, def with a slightly increased salary cap - but same limit of 20 trades and no free trades with byes.

pick wisely, and you should be able to avoid donuts - pick poorly or lots from any single team and you are going to be in strife...
