Title: ADT: Official Trade Thread 2018/2019
Post by: Nige on August 11, 2018, 10:27:47 AM
2018/2019 Trading Rules

- There is a cap on trading, each team have a limit of 20 player movements over two trade periods

- National and Rookie draft picks can be traded but are counted as a movement

- On trading a player or pick to another team will no longer count as a movement

- Trades are no longer restricted to 1 -1 or 2-2 and so forth, you can now trade 2-3 or 1-2 and so forth as well

- Trade period 1 will start after the conclusion of the Ben Graham Medal count on Friday 31th August and conclude on (date TBD) at Midnight AEST

- Teams will be able to trade players that are delisted on the AFL website in hope another team signs them. Be aware there is a risk with this and if you chose to trade in a player that has been delisted, then you wear the consequences

- All trades will be ruled on by LF and Nige. Trades involving one of our own teams will see the coach involved excluded from the process in order to avoid a conflict of interest

- If coaches have a problem with a posted trade, you can pm LF and Nige to let them know of your concerns and the trade will be reviewed and may be either rejected or overturned if the complaint is seen to be justified

- Trade period 2 will start when the positions are named by AFL Fantasy/Virtual Sports for the up and coming season (trade period 2 will finish at the discretion of admin)

- Please leave any discussions on posted trades until the trade has been confirmed

- We aim to approved trades asap, we leave the trade up for a couple of days in case anyone has a problem with it before any approval or rejection is posted

Confirm. RGriff is keen on Bailey and happy to part with him to get a higher pick in the draft. If Moore gets his body right I believe he can be a very good defender or forward as well.

Bermuda give pick 21, Will Walker and Zac Giles-Langdon
Dallas give Bryce Gibbs

Bermuda give pick 9
Dallas give Travis Boak

Both trades have been rejected.

The coaches involved have been PM'd with an explanation as to why prior to this ruling, but for fairness and transparency, we'll post why so everyone can understand our reasons for doing so.

Also should be noted that we did get an official complaint via PM from a coach who shall remain unnamed for confidentiality reasons. It serves as a timely reminder that concerned coaches can voice an official complaint about a trade via PM at any time, but must have a genuine reason alongside the challenge.

Anyway, here's the reasoning:

QuoteIt's our view that while we understand the direction both teams desire to go in, and we both fully understand and respect that coaches are allowed to take their teams in whatever direction they deem necessary and have the freedom to trade whoever they like, but we're a little concerned that both trades on their own, and as a whole, are a detrimental to both teams short and long term.

In the regards to this trade:

Bermuda give pick 21, Will Walker and Zac Giles-Langdon
Dallas give Bryce Gibbs

We understand Gibbs to be a 30yr old (as of March next year) 100 avg mid which is fine, but the concern here is mainly the compensation. While N21 is handy, KB is handing over two first year players. The issue with this is that ZGL is a mature age small fwd coming off only a 50 avg. Walker only played 4 games late in the season and averaged the same. Obviously both are presumably intended to be long term investments, but Walker's JS isn't guaranteed and we believe there isn't a lot of scope for ZGL to improve much upon his rookie year average. In addition to this, Gibbs is also one of Dallas' best players, often being named as C or VC in 2018, so to lose a captain option (after already losing Viney - also a potential suitable captain option when fit) for a pick (which at this stage is speculative/a gamble), a rookie who doesn't have guaranteed JS and mature age small fwd is probably not appropriate. It also concerns us that Bermuda has a distinct lack of promising/high level talent which could be damaging.

Our suggestions here would be for Bermuda to better compensate Dallas for the loss of Gibbs by giving a player with decent JS and who should be a reliable starter.

In regards to the other trade:

Bermuda give pick 9
Dallas give Travis Boak

This trade concerns us because Pick 9 is a high price to pay for a 30 year old with one year left on his contract, coming off his worst return (average wise) in 6 years. While we understand Dallas is looking long term and trying to invest in draft picks, we feel it would be more appropriate to lower the value of the pick given if Boak remains the player desired, or alternatively Dallas could give a slightly better player for the pick given it's first round pick being received.

Overall, Bermuda mortgaging their future for short term gain is a little concerning, and the competitiveness of Dallas as a result of losing Gibbs, Boak (and Viney from the other trade with El Paso) has worried us enough that we're sorry to say that we're left with no other choice than to reject both trades.

Other trades to be ruled on shortly, the movements and official trades posts to be updated in due course, but coaches are reminded to keep in mind the restriction of 20 movements, which does include picks.

Guadalajara give: Aaron Young
Arizona give: Dylan Roberton

Roberton is surplus to needs at Arizona due to some positional changes. He's also a bit of a risk given his 2018 health concerns, but it's a risk I'm willing to take for a potential starting defender if he's in the clear health-wise. Young is best 22 and handy depth, but down the pecking order in my fwd line so I can move him on for list balance.

nas to confirm.

Dallas trades Constable and NAT 25
El Paso trades Joyce

Trade Rejected

Not only did we receive an official complaint for this, but LF and I were both in agreement this was just a really odd trade altogether.

Jesse Joyce, while best 22, only averages 55 in DT which makes him comfortably a depth defender by anyone's standards. So with that in mind, N25 for him is overs. Add to that a young mid who is known for having good potential and ability, albeit yet to debut, that's a significant overpay for a player that just isn't very good in fantasy terms.

El Paso give: Jake Stringer and Mitch Hannan
Arizona give: Dan Hannebery and Bailey Dale

I didn't really play Sheed a lot this season but always rated him as a decent talent, so I'm happy to move him on for a guy who is good for at least a 90 avg and has a good few years left in him, even if he's a bit older.

El Paso Gives: Robinson & NAT 26

Confirmed. Chasing another defender. While Robbo is my top scoring forward, the aim is to continue my search for younger talent in the rebuild.

Guadalajara give: N41
Washington give: Sam Lloyd

Taking the punt on my boy Sam Lloyd. Either he moves clubs and gets game time, or he continues to push his case for senior selection at the Tiges.

pope to confirm.

Bolivia Trade; N12 + C Ah Chee

El Paso Trade; B Ebert

Good pick in a good draft and an ex first rounder for Bolivia.
Ebert will be used well for when Ablett dies in the ass next year.

El Paso gives Jake Kelly + R28
Calgary gives NAT19

Happy to get another pick in this draft early on, now that I have acquired Salem, Kelly isn't as important.

Liking the development of Kelly and he gives me much needed defensive depth after losing Brayshaw to mids and Tuohy to trade

Getting a capable mid and a forward, Seedy and Cripps are very servicable, Wooller a big project.

Confirmed.

I took Murray pretty late in the rookie draft last year, not expecting a lot. In the end, he played 13 games and averaged 70s. There's a slight cloud over his future with the ASADA, but he's proved to be a good player when he plays and I'm honestly sad to part with him. For me, Daicos has some good potential, but has now played 12 games in two years, however I'm optimistic that he build on that and be a good mid/fwd type, something my team currently lacks.

Confirmed - May appear uneven but Cripps would have been my highest scoring forward if I had him. Seedsman and Wooller (who I rate) evens the  trade for Reddan.

Higgins has been a solid provider but a full rebuild is needed and this draft will provide the players needed for the future.

Guadalajara trade: Bailey Banfield
Bermuda trade: Tom Hickey

KB was looking to trade Hickey and I really need a secure ruck considering Sandi is cooked and Krooz is sketchy.
