Because it's never too early!
There will be spoilers in here, so maybe only check this thread after you watch the episode unless you're okay with knowing what happens before you watch.
My first three thoughts on this season:
- The logo is god damn beautiful
- I'm okay with the 'theme' at the moment. I feel like someone from the David tribe has to surely win to keep in line with the narrative
- Super excited to see John Hennigan aka John Morrison/Johnny Mundo/Johnny Nitro. I imagine he'll last until the merge and then get chopped early or mid post merge, depends how much strategic game he has.
I totally forgot to mention this in the previous post, but Ned Schneebly is also on this season.
Posting with alleged season 38 spoilers below
so there’s apparently going to be four “captains†of returning players among new players:
Joe Anglim
David Wright
Kelly Wentworth
Aubrey Bracco <3
Should be pretty interesting with four well known and liked players amongst the newbies - will they go like Rob at RI or be shot out straight away?
That was amazing season premiere!
The ending was absolutely tragic and flower Probst for shoehorning the theme into the situation, but otherwise a super solid episode.
I loved the fact that we saw so much camp life, all these interactions and alliances forming. The weather and the medevac obviously contributed to the overall editing but that's what made it so good.
Also, everyone got a confessional which was refreshing and great to see. The way they edited Dan's idol find in the flashback was cool and different, and the timelapse of Christian's post-reward confessional was hilarious.
Early favourites after episode are John, Christian, Gabby, Mike, Elizabeth, Nick and Dan I feel like I want to and am eventually gonna like Alison and Jeremy too.
I think we've got a really good cast on our hands though, which usually helps heaps.
I thought it was very good too, plenty of interesting characters - one of the best premiers since Cagayan. Was looking forward to the tribal council (guy who does nothing vs guy who tanked challenge vs annoying guy at camp) so SPOILER getting badly hurt in something that was a freak accident and not really under his or anybody's control was very unfortunate and sad. Luckily he turned out alright and healthy enough to go on the pre-jury vacation with the rest of them.
Forgot what it's like to have a full 20 characters get some airtime rather than just having Dom do 29 out of 30 confessionals an episode!
Undetermined who to root for as of yet.
Hah, as soon as the episode started I said "that's John Morrison!"
Really athletic wrestler who should do well in challenges
Solid episode
We're only 2 episodes in, but god damn has basically everything been great so far.
I'm actually amazed with how well edited the season has been and the cast looks super solid.
They changed up the vote read order which was sick, kept it interesting.
Also Natalie is awful and I've loved the conversation Jeremy had with her.
Christian's such a top notch casting and character, I hope he goes far and does well.
I don’t want to jinx things because ghost island started well too, but...the first four eps of the season have been really really good. Like historically good. Hopefully it keeps this pace up. I liked Natalia but it was a good boot and I liked the mini-sook.

Think the cast is great, but also see a lot of terrible game play for the sake of it. Davey looks pretty sharp, so I hope he does well. I think I'll feel more invested when the numbers go down.
Yeah, this season is shaping up really well thanks to a great cast and great edit. Even when players don't get confessionals, I feel like we're still seeing enough of them to know who they are and where they stand. The only person you could maybe argue hasn't been too relevant thus far is Alison who hasn't done a lot since the opening challenge with John on the boat.
Another really high quality episode.
Kinda reminded of the famous Banana Etiquette episode from HvV.
First ever unanimous merge vote, largest vote margin in survivor history (11), and most votes cast against one player in a single vote (12) - the last two breaking records held by (among others) the great Chris Noble. Poor Elizabeth.
Gabby the only female David left so I’m kind of rooting for her, alongside the Brochachos of course.
what do you think of Dan
t's his 2 lose with 2 idols but i'm not that confident in him gets to emotional
dan is not going to win, to many insecurities still holding him back. gets paranoid easily.
love christian. greatest nerd on tv.
Holy flowering moly!!!
This season has been nothing short of fantastic so far honestly.
Everything is so on point. Cast, editing, challenges, strategy - it's all just come together so damn well.
Really good episode with a sad but amazing blindside and one of the better tribal councils in a long time.

Was surprised when they didn't use the "negating an idol" advantage, now I know why! Australian Survivor need to watch this and understand how not to give away too much if they want more viewers, came out of left field and blew me away!
:( Didn't want to see John go yet
Great season
Just remembered Dan has 2 immunity idols. He just took the target off his back by using one, so might work out for him. Angelina, what a shower bloke.

Dan's got a few issues though:
- He's a threat in every aspect
- He comes across a bit arrogant (only have to look at the brief moment before he lost the reward challenge last ep for his team)
- He seems pretty invested in this showmance thing with Kara
- He lost an ally/fellow Goliath in John by keeping Angelina who looks like an awful person to be aligned with right now even though she's an entertaining villain
- He also doesn't know about the extra vote/vote steal that Nick has or the idol nullifier that Carl has.
I'm predicting that he'll either play the idol for himself and it'll get nullified, or he'll play it for Kara at some point and it'll get nullified and she'll be sent home. I think the latter is more likely because their stories so far this season have been linked.

I think he'll make it to the end but get beaten honestly.
i think Dan's problem his he lets his emotions decide who to vote and isnt very tactical
Amazing episode and amazing season so far. Survivor SA is still the best season this year but at this rate it’s going to be close. I really hope next episode we see a vote steal + idol nullified combo and they take out Dan.
flowering lol dan
Really well played tribal council by the Davids.
That was so beautifully orchestrated
To steal the vote, and then have the forsight to know Dan would play the idol for himself after seeing that, and then to knock him out
That had Christian written all over it - amazing play

I don't reckon it is Christian, I'd be leaning towards it being Davey and Carl who are orchestrating most of it. Regardless, another awesome ep! The Davids are definitely "daviding".

I'd be reasonably confident in saying Nick has a lot more to do with things than we're being shown.

not sure, whichever this has been a great season so far. think angelina will end up isolated next episode and be one of the next two.

Yeah I agree, was about to amend my comment. Definitely think these David's are pooling their smarts together to get where they need to be.
A great season that gets even better every single episode - top 10 all time! Top 5 potential if it stays at this pace.
Double episode, nice surprise!
Angelina's negotiation tactics, lol. Was counting down the seconds till she mentioned it to the jury, she's soooooo transparent in her game plan.
Personally don't think anyone is a goat this season, everyone seems like they know what they are doing, it's just going to come down to calculated decisions as they discussed.
Gabby getting more and more annoying each episode, has a cry, has a break down, then turns into a nasty dog.

Really liked the double ep, it played out super well.
Angelina is definitely making FTC. I don't think she'll win and I'm not her biggest fan (though I think she's an entertaining villain), but then something tells me she could have this Adam from MvGX like winner's edit if she the winner.
I think Mike's a no vote finalist. He's playing his game but I don't see how it gets him any votes at all.
For me though, the winner is Christian or Nick. I can't see it being anyone else. Christian definitely has the harder path to the end, but if he makes it there, he's got it on lock. I think he's destined to end up more of a David Wright from MvGX. Nick should win if he makes it imo.
I think Davey is very good at this game, made some great moves early, now is sitting back to the point the edit almost makes you forget he's there.

Davie's tight with Nick but just lost Carl who I think would have been considered his closest ally and has started to emerge as a bit of a threat I think but he's been one of the best characters imo.
I think what I like is that even if players lack confessionals this season, they're still gonna airtime and exposure to help understand their edit.

Heh, it’s not legit. Just referring to how good this season’s characters have been - HvV tier almost.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see 4ish of this season’s contestants to return for the next all stars season (assuming it’s not all-winners) like Cagayan players in Second Chances and Kaoh Rong players in Game Changers. Nick, Angelina, Christian, and Davie? Maybe John or Carl.
Christian is a god
Suck shower Gabby, as soon as Christians girlfriend rocked up to the beach you could see the Gabby's face turn green with jealousy. You can actually see the point where she realised she had been "friend-zoned"! :P
I still think Davey is playing the best game here and no one is noticing him whatsoever. Did think it was odd that he wrote Christian's name down though after what we had seen in the episode, did he know and by voting for Christian was that just to show we was with the "team"? If that was the intention, he's even better than I thought.

He confirmed that is what he did. He’s playing a phenomenal game.
I’m on the “Nick will win†thought train, but I’ve been super impressed by Davey this whole season. He’s great!
I sound like I'm in love with Davey as I keep bringing him up #nohomo, but damn he's good. Reckon he even has Nick completely on side now after Mike telling Nick that Davey is gunning for him, proof is in the vote and it didn't show. Power of the idol got to Mike and I think he's in serious trouble though. Angelina's cry for food was cringe worthy.
Almost forgot about Jeff talking about "balls", that was hilarious!
So I haven’t seen the latest episode because my laptop is rip but I got spoiled anyway due to daily trawling of social media on my phone.
At this stage, I’d be shocked if the finale boot order isn’t:
Davie/Alison (Davie being one of two Davids left and clearly somewhat of a threat)
Alison/Davie (edit hasn’t been that kind to her but apparently perceived as a threat to some)
Kara (will lose the firemaking, probably to Nick as I think Mike and Angelina stick together as Goliaths)
I can’t see Angelina getting many votes, if any.
I’d expect most, if not all the Davids to probably vote Nick
Mike probably picks up a couple, but Nick wins.
Quotebut Nick wins.
Definitely starting to feel he's getting a winners edit, I think a lot of the survivors will feel for him after his emotional reunion with his dad.
Hopefully tomorrow’s finale caps this season off as top five all-time rather than having a good season shower the bed like in HHH.
All of the contestants still in it are great. Nick is my favourite and I certainly have a history of picking the #2 so hopefully he can get the job done. Davie, Kara, Allison, and Mike are (from best to non-best) very good characters too, but if Nick can’t win I’d love an Angelina victory for the memes. She’s hilarious!
From here it probably won’t happen, but having the winner decided by the fire making challenge for the third straight season would be disgusting. Just dump that whole thing already it’s gone on long enough.
yeah im keen to watch it after poker today
Things I took away from the finale...
Angelina - has more delusions than any dementia patient I've ever looked after. If I was Mike or Nick, I'd have called her out saying she couldn't find that idol by herself and she lost the clue.
Mike - Has a real nasty streak...or PMS.
Alison - She takes her pulse every tribal, and at the end of the reunion show as they pan away, she was still taking her pulse. :o
Davie - Was contrasting to see his real life personality and how calm and cool he acted on the show. Didn't scramble enough, but respect him for not scrambling if that makes sense.
Kara - When someone came at her with a plan, "OMG, thats exactly what I wanted to do". Closest thing this season had to a goat.
Nick - Worthy.
All in all a top season, love to see some of the contestants return.
So apparently Mike smuggled THC onto the island, must have run out after his brutal put down of Alison. CBS apparently aren't DQ-ing him, but I feel they should. He's obviously an anxious person in real life, the THC for him would definitely have been a "performance enhancing drug". No way would he have been so calm and have built the same relationships.
wow respect for his play is gone now
Joe back next season ;D
btw have they ever done a international season
like a few past contestents from each country that does survivor would be fun

Since CBS is in charge of the Australian one now, I have assumed they may eventually do an America vs Australia one?

The other takeaway was the delusion that men and women are the same and should, could play the same type of games. Angelina was just a self centred narcissistic dog that lasted only because people wanted her gone for emotional reasons and not game based play reasons so she lasted. I laughed my arse off when Nick told her he was taking her through.
Women only find 15% of idols and that is a man problem. PLEASE - have a look at why women are not finding idols. Pretty sure it has nothing to do with lack of opportunity.
Christian was a great to watch and listen too and was sorry to see him voted out. Overall Nick was a very worthy winner that demonstrated ability socially, emotionally, strategically, mentally and physically. Exactly what you want in a winner.
