Title: round 9 captains
Post by: stevolen23 on May 16, 2018, 11:40:01 AM
who are people considering as captain choices for round 9?

I've currently got macrae vc, but don't know for captain. Titch, fyfe or cripps?

Macrae into Fyfe

Fyfes the safest option i reckon, hes back!!

Gawn gotta be another one people will consider as well

Macrae VC is a lock. Choosing who gets the C is a bit more tricky however.

Gawn v Kruezer & Fyfe away at the SCG isn’t ideal, but both in great form.
Melbourne completely shutdown Mitchell with a Jones tag, could this happen to Cripps?
Mitchell against Brisbane away looks decent, but he hasn’t been in great form recently.
Danger, Dusty & Gray too risky with large stints up forward.
Grundy could go massive against the Saints, is he over that shin soreness though?
Oliver could also go big against Carlton, but may get a Curnow tag like Merrett?

Hoping I can go Macrae into Olango

Gawn/Fyfe as back up though

More than Fyfe into Oliver. Oliver will dominate Curnow

Crouch into Oliver...

And if Mirra doesn't play, then Fyfe into Oliver.

I'm getting sick of the renewed tagging trend, and midfield guns playing full fwd.
Having trouble picking captains this round.
Gawn won't have it as easy vs Kreuz like he did with Hickey,Witts,Nank and Belly.
I think Dusty will look to bounce back after being frustrated by Jacobs, but is he fully fit? Will he play fwd? I think no and yes to those questions.
Oliver will get Curnow.
Fyfe vs Swans at SCG is a worry.
Titch? Rather VC him but can't as my NPR is Mirra.
Could trade in Danger, but Cats will flog Bombers, he could be stuck on the bench alot if not fwd. He could also kick 5 or only 1-2.

Laird or Fyfe into Gawn is the best I can come up with.

Kerridge probably
They use Jed Lamb as a forward tag
I wouldnt worry about them tagging Oliver though, Curnows hardly a tag, he racks up big numbers himself
If they decide to tag someone itll probably be Jones, i reckon your safe with Oliver going well

Has Kerridge had any big scalps as a tagger?

Ben Jacobs restricted Oliver to a 75 when North played them, so it isn't completely out of the question for Oliver to be first choice at the Dees for attention.

I didnt say it was out of the question, im saying if they dont have someone who can do the job on an inside mid they wont bother is what i feel, jacobs can get it done at the stoppages. Jones also a quality player but has a bit more outside impact might be easier for someone to null is impact
Honestly i dont know but i dont think kerridge has tagged this year, but hes done it in the past

macrae vc is a lock, crows don't tag

now with e.curnow out, oliver is a good choice.
Fyfe will probably get tagged by hewed.
Cripps should get a vince tag.
Dustin doesn't look like he'll get tagged, but I want him to return to form before trusting again.
Titch is probably the best captain option as it doesn't seem he is getting tagged.

But a wild option I'm considering is zorko captain. Been in good form, could cop a dan howe tag

Put the C on Oliver, he will have a day out!! Ill have to disagree, Ed Curnow is actually a very good tagger and has been for many years. If you look at his numbers, he has taken quite a few scalps whilst still racking up some pretty good numbers himself. Took Zerrett to the cleaners last week, whilst still having 30+ and kicking 2 goals. Massively underated in my opinion! For what its worth, I'm looking at Fyfe in to Oliver, but am tossing up on Gray for VC. Think he might produce something pretty special tomorrow!

120 is a little low - Even if your choice goes only 110 only lose 10 pts whereas if they go 130 you gain, Think all suggestions will go at least 110.

Maxy is bound to drop below the ton at some point again, however Purple Captained Fyfe.  ;)

Therefore, Maxy C.

::)

Put the VC on Danger so going with Oliver v Carlton for the big C.

;)
Same. Come on Piggy Oliver!

I'm on the Oliver train this week I think. The Curnow factor has sealed the deal.

Oliver's last two games against the Blues - 139, 116.

Went over Gawn's record & there's an outside chance Kreuzer gets the better of him.

Anyone concerned with Gawns record against Blues.

Definitely, if Gawn throws in a shocker this could be the week.

So much for the poor record 41SC points and not quarter time yet

Zorko vs Stef vs Gawn vs Yeo vs Tmitch vs Sicily vs Dusty vs looping Danger

Honestly considering all of these options for C haha

114 for Danger is mighty tempting, have an hour to decide.
I might take it

-9 near the end for a 50M salvaged things for non believers.

45 at QT.

Got greedy, should have taken Bont's 120 instead I went with Oliver! Thought no Curnow might give him free reign :'( :'( :'(

I was sure Gawn was going to go 150 at one stage

I certainly went a shade of white just before that 50 metre penalty. Oliver actually went toe to toe with Gawn from that point.

Flower it all. Anybody but Oliver was the better captain choice. Gawn,Cripps,Danger,Titch(thought he'd get tagged again) even flowering Goldy... just not Oliver. Won't be picking him again.

What the flower?? Why do we find his out now?? Wondering why he was wearing a glove but it was too late to change by then.

The glove thing had me curious. Anyhow, week was derailed by the the C choice, not much you can do about it. Just have to move on & hope things turnaround next week.
