Hey everyone 8)
This is the thread where we announce our Best & Fairests, Coaches Awards and discuss matters such as the Rising Star winner and Coach of the Year in preparation for the Awards Ceremony.
Award Nominations1. Coach of the YearI'll nominate this years candidates, using last years criteria to help me out:
- If you've won more games during the regular season in 2017 than 2016, you get a nomination for coach of the year. If you had the same amount of wins, but scored more overall points you get a nomination
- A wild card nomination if I feel that a coach has had to overcome particular adversity or done something special to deserve it.
The nominations will be announced sometime this week!
2. Coaches awardEach team can nominate a player on their team they think deserves special mention. You can use any criteria you like, it doesn't have to be the best player. Previous winners are Daniel Talia, Mark Blicavs & Matt Jaensch for example.
3. Rising Star WinnerHere are your nominations! Talk your player up over the next week or so, and decide who you'll vote for when I send out the PM!

Sure, you can have anybody on our list for that nomination this week.
Noting this is subject to change as of next week as no trades can be locked in yet.
Cotch wins our B&F
Joel Selwood wins New York's B&F, and we nominate Jarryd Roughead for our coaches award
After what he went through, and being out of the game for 12 months he took a bit of time to get into the swing of things but he has got better and better as the year has gone on
Taylor Adams won Cairo's B&F for 2017. Jeremy McGovern nominated for the Coaches Award.
Wow, I actually haven't given it any thought yet, but I actually have NFI who would win my B&F.
Everyone has been equally ordinary for much of the year...
I've crunched the numbers, factored in things that numbers alone cannot measure, and the winner of the best and fairest for Christchurch 2017 is...
Thomas Boyd!
(C)onnor gets the coaches award for blossoming into the gunnest young gun on our list.

1. Dayne Zorko (12)
2. Lachie Neale (11)
3. Callan Ward ( 8 )
=3. Ollie Wines ( 8 )
5. Brodie Grundy (7)
6. Jared Polec (4)
7. Brandon Ellis (3)
=7. Sam Mayes (3)
=7. Josh Jenkins (3)
10. Christian Petracca (2)
=10. Bradley Hill (2)
=10. Daniel Howe (2)
=10. Kane Lambert (2)
=10. Harry Taylor (2)
15. Jayden Hunt (1)
Congrats to Dayne Zorko who wins his maiden Thunder B&F, holding off a late charge from Lachie Neale and Callan Ward.
Congratulations to Kane Lambert who takes out the Beijing Thunder Coach's Award for 2017 after his terrific back end to the year. Averaged a fantastic 93 points per game after the bye which coincided with him cementing himself in the Beijing XV and also the team's turnaround in form which saw us make a late surge up the ladder.
Lambo just edged out Sam Mayes who has had a terrific year, repaying coaches' faith in him averaging 83 as a defender, cementing his spot in our XV and being one of our first picked in the backline every week.

Geez how much does your team suck if Tom Boyd wins any award. Let alone best and fairest.

JPK was closer to the Norm Smith in a losing side.

Tobias Nankervis takes out our Coaches Award
Right!
I'll be sending out a PM on Saturday, so we can vote on Rising Stars, All-Worlds team and Coaches Award.
I need your Coaches Award nominations ASAP, else your player won't go into the mix.
These are the current ones I have:
Team | Coaches Award |
Beijing Thunder | Kane Lambert |
Berlin Brewers | |
Buenos Aires Armadillos | |
Cairo Sands | Jeremy McGovern |
Cape Town Cobras | Toby Nankervis |
Christchurch Saints | Connor Blakely |
Dublin Destroyers | |
London Royals | |
Mexico City Suns | |
Moscow Spetsnaz | |
New Delhi Tigers | |
New York Revolution | Jarryd Roughead |
Pacific Islanders | |
PNL Reindeers | |
Rio de Janeiro Jaguars | |
Seoul Magpies | |
Tokyo Samurai | |
Toronto Wolves |
I'm giving my Coaches Award to Charlie Dixon.
Averaging 68, 68 and 65 in the past 3 years respectively - always being marred by injury - Charlie comes out with an 88 average and PLAYED EVERY GAME THIS YEAR. With scores of 151, 135 and 167 this year, Charlie has also proven himself a game changer, and I was just thrilled that a reliable forward emerged at what I thought was a fragile forward line at the beginning of the year.
Walters... you were *this* close through one performance alone.
I picked my boy Nic Newman
I drafted him with pick 34 in the 2014 rookie draft and he finally delivered averaging 86 for us. Also came in to score a 151 when he was an emergency in round 8, yet we still named him and got a win over Dublin 8)
Ah flower, do i really have to have a coaches award?
Ill nominate Zach Tuohy, had a great year, stepping up at his new role at Geelong.
Rising star nom will be Berry, dunno if i need one of these though
We have to put up BTB
Even with the amount of public pressure we put on him to beat "superstar" Brad, Matty continues to perform week in week out.
Oh and he's averaged 122 since RD10, but meh as long as he keeps beating Brad each week then he gets our votes
Clayton has had our coaches award wrapped up since round 2
This was a hard choice between the following bloke and Lewy Taylor, but given the latter had already shown some scoring ability before a down season last year, I'm going to give my coaches award to Jimmy Webster.
He was already one of the best kicks in the league, but just needed to find a bit more of the ball to become relevant, and that he did, averaging 20 disposals and 76.6 SC excluding the game where he broke his hand in round 8. Jimmy has become one of our first picked defenders every week and I look forward to his continued improvement alongside Savage, Witherden and Brodie in our backline full of long kicking, efficient ball users for years to come.
Rio's coaches award goes to: ??? Honestly no one deserves it.
So I'm gonna give it to Patrick Cripps. Cause we all know it Rio had him in finals, he'd win them the Premiership.
Tom Mitchell wins the B&F.
Michael Hurley wins the Coaches Award coming back from a year off he has been incredible.
One day to go to get your nominations in

Awarding votes to one third of your team no matter how they perform... I think you people need to review your voting process.
