Title: Podcasts
Post by: jvalles69 on July 12, 2017, 02:29:35 PM
I've been getting into Podcasts on the my drive to and from work for a few months now, starting to run thin on more good ones to listen too.  Thought I'd set up a thread for people to add worthy podcasts.  Here are the ones I've listened to, feel free to add more with a description of what they're about.

Serial - Great crime Podcast, season 1 and 2 available.
Undisclosed - Worth listening too, but only after you've listened to Serial S1 as it covers more of the legal side of things.
S***Town - What starts as another crime story, quickly turns with an unexpected twist.
Bill Simmons - Basically just listen to his NBA updates and interviews

I'm very into podcasts, not really into all that crime/storytelling stuff tho (that's what tv is for)

Currently subbed to:
Odd With Aubry (Survivor)
Hamish and Andy
RHAP Survivor
Seinfeld Post-Show Recaps
32 Fans (mostly NFL stuff)
The Russell Hantz Show (Survivor)
Abstract Nonsense (movie and TV theories)
Bill Simmons (NFL stuff)
30 for 30 Podcasts
Stuff They Don't Want You to Know, Monster Talk, and Generation Why for all my paranormal and spooky stuff

Pretty regular contributor for 32 Fans, Seinfeld post-show recaps, and abstract nonsense (and their previous podcast Tales from the twists)

STDWYTK - Georgia Guidestones, Mandela Effect, what happened to Hitler, the Warrens, Taman Shud, Skinwalker Ranch. A good podcast that explores and presents a large variet of content and very heavily researched, very likeable hosts.
Monster Talk - Enfield poltergeist, Morar Ness, Science and Sea Monsters, Demon Dolls, A serpents tale, Doctor Atlantis, A Tiger by the Tale, Jersey devil, What's good for the mongoose. Definite sceptical-favoured podcast but they are very fair and don't hush away things, plenty of great guests.
Generation why - Mothman, titanic conspiracy, Enfield Poltergeist, Loch Ness Monster, Zodiac Killer, the Warrens, Oak Island money pit, Dyalov Pass Incident, Lizzie Borden, Blair witch, Amityville house, history's mysteries, JFK assassination. Like 230 episodes total, too much direct murder stuff but there's a lot of gold in there. Likeable hosts.

Yes I know I've just prescribed you like 30 hours of podcasts ;) I'd go with gen why first as I rate them the highest, although can't go wrong with any of them.

Another question then, what podcast player do you use?  I have an Android phone and find I have to use multiple platforms to be able to find certain podcasts, I use Player FM, Spotify and now Soundcloud.

If you want to learn more about professional gambling and advise on punting more professionally there is a great podcast called Business of Betting. Is excellent and highly recommended.

The most recent one is with Vince Accardi who hand records sectional times on every thoroughbred race in Australia. Very good.

The Marc Lambourne podcast is my fave as he is the punter who I have learned the most from and is fascinating. Website is below.

Settled on a current go to list which has enough updates I prob can't fit anything else in.

Jalen and Jacoby - talk mainly NBA with an urban flow #puttinthatonwax
Joe Rogan - hand picking certain episodes depending on interviewee, Brendan Schaub ones are particularly entertaining
Bill Simmons - NBA ones
Fatman on Batman - Kevin Smith talking pop culture, hilarious

Heard Duncd On is good too, but don't think I can squeeze it in.

I've got a couple of great footy ones worth a listen;

Firstly, "The Greatest Season That Was: 1993"
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-greatest-season-that-was-93-podcast/id1384259595?mt=2
Good analysis of the 93 season, claimed to be the greatest season of all time for a huge amount of reasons. Great guest every week too. So far they've looked at North with Greg Miller, Fitzroy with Robert Shaw, Sydney with Ron Joseph, Brisbane with Robert Walls, And Adelaide with Graham Cornes. Bombers episode hype.

Second, "Crawf & Hirdy - We Talk Football"
https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/crawf-hirdy-we-talk-football/id1359854705?mt=2
Pretty obvious what this is about. Crawf and Hirdy talk football and it's great discussion and pretty funny.

Here are a few crime ones to get stuck into.

Casefile - so flowering good.  Each episode is a new case from somewhere around the world, up to case 91, I'm working my way backwards and up to about 70.  Maybe 2/20 in that lot I didn't like.  Plenty of aussie ones too as the narrator is an aussie and could be mistaken to be Ozzy Man without the jokes and swearing.  A good one to get you roped in is the Janabi case.

Bowraville - Aboriginal kids who were taken and murdered, noone has been charged even though they basically know who did it.

Atlanta Monster - Loads of kids getting snatched up.  Did he do it or is he innocent?
