Title: Australian Survivor: Season 2
Post by: Nige on June 25, 2017, 01:46:59 PM
I'm pretty excited for this, all signs point to it being a lot better than the first season which I actually thought was fairly impressive.

The full cast list has been revealed, you can see all 24 contestants listed here (http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/the-tribe-has-spoken-the-full-24-cast-of-the-next-series-of-australian-survivor-here/news-story/26904c5f9ad5351f62292b25c6edf0fd).

Sounds like we've got some pretty interesting characters yet again. Some absolute ripping names in the cast too. More actual fans than casuals and people who want to play than are out there for Lee Carseldine style mateship.

Again, there are a few D-list celebrities, if you even want to call them that, but that's not much of a surprise.

Anyway, pretty sure this season will start after Masterchef and it'll finishing up around the time Survivor 35: HvHvH starts.

It's advised that people probably watch the episode before coming to the thread as there will likely be discussion after episodes which may become spoilers

I will reserve judgement on all contestants until they show that they're not strategically incompetent like 90% of S1 were.

Still super disappointing that they don't choose the average Aussie, instead go with the lowest level celebrity who "craves" media attention.  Would love to know if some of the people were "asked" to submit a entry or they did if off their own accord.  I'll still watch it, especially cos Jarred Seng is on the show, but would be much more entertaining with the average joe/jane who are survivor addicts.  :(

Confirmed to start Sunday July 30th.

We're also getting a live finale and reunion this season.  8)

Wow I wasn't expecting it to be that early, good few weeks before it started last year

Still very pessimistic after the supreme lack of good strategy last season

I'm actually looking forward to this

Season one was always going to be hard to live up to the hype and compare against the US version, but I think this season will be better

Andrew Torrens from last season is doing an AMA on Reddit at the moment which you can read here. (https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/comments/6q7lkb/andrew_torrens_australian_survivor_2016_ama/)

Really excited for this season, can't wait for the premiere tomorrow!

AK seems like a douche (Not the forum member, the survivor contestant!)

So yeah. Like I said, pretty strong opening episode.

First boot was good, but saw it coming from a mile away. In fact, she was my pick from the moment the cast was announced.

There are some really good characters already. Love both Mark H and Mark W, but particularly the old fella. Kent's a gem, "find the dickhead" was a classic line. Sarah's an absolute babe and looks like a legit player.

Still got a few others that I'm rooting for that we haven't seen a lot of yet, but that's always gonna happen with 24 people divided into 2 tribes of 12.

Luke's an absolute peanut and while he's good TV and an absolute mess, I really want him of my screen sooner rather than later. AK is also an idiot and is gonna flame out real hard, real soon.

Pretty much everything here

I thought it was a good start, my pessimism is fading because it actually looks like people will be playing Survivor this season.

Kent (aka discount Ed O'Neill) and Sarah (aka discount Nancy off Stranger Things) are good, idk many other people though as I was half paying attention for most of the scenes outside of challenges and tribal.

AK supports the crows, what more would you really expect? Matt 2.0 as an unlikable, idiot South Australian footy guy.

But yeah pretty good ep overall and Kent and Sarah definitely look like Ed O'Neill and Nancy from Stranger Things.

He has actually done a tonne of pranks pretending he's Steve Aoki too!  Check out his Insta, epic pics and funny vids.  He's our wedding photographer this coming November, the missus has joked that I'll be getting more photos with him on the day than her!  ;D

Another really solid ep.

AK went from chicken idol-making madman to playing some serious 4D chess to gain the trust of Steve Aoki.

Oh no! At the end Nick plays a game with Aussie words which was created by my girlfriend Shannon! They're besties now lol talk all the time.

I heard some funny stuff about Russell and his podcast, apparently he private messaged on facebook people who had like RHAP on FB and tried to get them to listen to his podcast instead! HAHA such a Russell thing to do, classic.

I said AK was douche early on, but he is starting to grow on me. He's there to play!

I can't stand Tara, and loved seeing her shock when they blindsided her little alliance and she realised how flowered she is

Aimee was an absolute dumbshower. Wish they got rid of Tara instead, but it made sense seeing as Locky basically had 2 votes every time because of how dumb Aimee is

You're not wrong, hate these hypocritical players, all smiles when she's on the right side, then when she gets a taste of her own medicine its a complete breakdown and the person "wronging" her is terrible.

Still hating on JLP basically ruining contestants strategies by his line of questioning.

Overall a good series so far, loving the girls calling out Henry's yoga instructor BS, guy was doing warm up stretches at an amateur footy club!

Mark looks like he's about to go off radar and start slitting throats literally marine style!  :o  He must hate getting dominated by Lachie in most challenges too.  He seems like the type to find someone else to spoon now that Sam's gone.

Don't really get Henry's need to make a move so early by throwing the challenge.  I get it, but at this stage numbers is key and now he's put a target on his back, totally unnecessary, they could be still be decimating the other tribe.

Post by: Nige on August 14, 2017, 02:55:34 PM
Tara's terrible, but I think she'll hang around for a little longer.

JLP is doing an amazing job this season, really come in to his own.

Vengeful Mark should be a good storyline because I don't think he's going anywhere any time soon.

Henry's awesome and I love what he's doing, but the real MVP so far is AK.

Also it was good to see Ben finally get a bit of screen time and say a few things, still hasn't had a confessional though haha.

So with the challenge, both times Tara instantly turns her back to her opponent as if she is so scared of getting hit with a big cushion, and is an easy beat both times

Drives me crazy!

2 episodes a week is rubbish though

As in you want more or less?

I'd rather they go back to airing on Tuesday instead of Shark Tank, but I definitely wouldn't want less because it'd drag on for too long and it'd be really difficult to deal with one episode a week of a show that goes '55 days' and has 24 people.

Needs to be 3 nights a week

2 nights a week is just too stagnant and not enough air time

Well, that happened.

Honestly, I didn't mind Henry's move to Samatau but it was a bit risky leaving Jacqui to fend for herself basically, and it didn't work out. His reaction should be interesting.

Glad we got another Ben confessional today.

My only worry now is that Kent is more or less alone, I don't want him to go. Let the harmless old fella be, he's absolute gold!

The odds for MasterChef were ridiculous with 6 left, and it turned out the short favourite won so it was clearly leaked, and now you're saying it's happened again? Bunch of jokers, no wonder the station is going bust

Curiosity got the better of me so I just had to look - yeah no doubt that the winner was leaked because there is no way that person would be the favourite otherwise.

Might be worth putting some money on them though, at $1.50 it's pretty obvious they'll win so it's easy cash

I'd heard of and saw the odds earlier and I pretty much agree with RD.

Said person has basically had zero screen time.

At least Kristie was more visible.

It's weird that in a season where a lot more people are playing the game, the person who we've literally seen the least of could be the winner, I guess it just means the jury is gonna reward surviving the bloodbath, not making enemies and flying under the radar. Either that or they actually become a presence come the merge/late game.

I'm typically not really a fan of those kind of winners so that definitely bugs me.

A bit annoying that even with a live finale/reunion that a winner has still managed to be somehow potentially be leaked.

Not a happy camper!

AK already voted out Tara, then a stupid twist saved her.

And then he goes and gets flowered by the swap.

Up there with Phoebe and Craig as phenomenal pre-merge characters gone too soon.
Title: Re: Australian Survivor: Season 2
Post by: RaisyDaisy on September 03, 2017, 11:06:03 PM
Yeah would have liked AK to hang around longer, but he had zero chance of winning

This Ben kid is driving me a little crazy. 20 years of age, should be at his prime in life in terms of fitness, ability etc but he just brings absolutely nothing to this game. No good at challenges, and no good at strategy.

Odette was saved by the team change too as she would have been gone for sure

Will be interesting to see where things go from here

Title: Re: Australian Survivor: Season 2
Post by: Nige on September 03, 2017, 11:25:37 PM
I mean, personally I feel for Ben because I feel like if I ever went out there I'd be exactly like he is (or at least like part Ben, part AK).

It must be tough at 20, but in a way he's living the dream which a lot of people around our age can only dream of. I don't doubt that he'd have tried to make the most of it, but the poor kid is very clearly out of his depth in that he obviously just barely fits in with anyone and that has to be hard in a game that's partially social. If he's struggling with the social element, nobody is really gonna draw him into the social part, and then as a lanky 20 year old who flips burgers for work, he's hardly going to be able to contribute a hell of a lot, especially on a diet of rice and beans.

I still reckon he wasn't a bad a casting choice and I've enjoyed a lot of the moments of him being on screen so I wish he wasn't having what looks to be a pretty rough time out there. Can't imagine how the poor bloke feels watching this back, hopefully he can just have a laugh and appreciate the experience for what it was for him.
Title: Re: Australian Survivor: Season 2
Post by: RaisyDaisy on September 03, 2017, 11:38:41 PM
Yeah I don't have anything against Ben, but like you said he's clearly out of his depth and when you can't impact challenges, have no social game and no real impact it just makes it a bit meh

Pete was similar in a sense but it feels like he is slowly starting to come out and could be a player

Those two guys remind me a fair bit of you Nige :)

Ben + Pete = Nige  :D

The person that is second is quite laughable, honestly could not see them getting the jury votes at all.

Yep. It's 3 nights a week again. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.

Ziggy was stupid in wasting her advantage/super idol like that, but Henry orchestrated it pretty well. Sucks that Jarrad and Annaleise are the first two members of the jury, I was big fan of both and thought they were playing pretty good games until their boot eps. Especially Annaleise who already got voted out once managed to recover, then player her idol perfectly before having it become null and void

Lol she got owned pretty hard, found that quite amusing

Didn't care that Jarred got knocked out, felt like he was just flying under the radar and not doing a whole lot. Pretty hard for me to cheer on players that don't have an impact, which is probably why I like Henry and Locky, but don't expect either of them to win

Reckon Jericho is best positioned to win at this stage, and I'm liking Pete more and more too but he could be on borrowed time now

Ziggy put herself in that position and had to play her super idol, if she didn't then she would've got taken out very next episode by Henry's crew.  Love the look on some these ppl's faces when they get stung. Happy days when Tessa gets voted out, that hypocritical look on her face pisses me the flower right off.

This season is the gift that keeps on giving.

Honestly, tonight's episode was episode of the season and probably my favourite episode of Survivor I've seen in a while.

Super bummed that three characters I loved have been the victims of the first three merge boots but the gameplay and the drama have been that good, along with this ridiculously good cast, I can't be upset.

I echo your thoughts Nige, really loving this season

Henry was an absolute lad and I loved the way he played, the moves and strategy he adopted and overall he's a guy I could easily see myself having a beer with, and he went out with class and respect for the game too

Luke winning everything was so funny to watch as well!  ;D

After every single tribal we get the same shocked look on Tara's face. She has absolutely no idea what she's doing and what's going on. Just a sheep who is flying under the radar

Yeah that head snap, every single time - just shows she is completely out of her depth and without Locky she'd be flowered

She will make the final 3, because noone sees her as a threat. I hope she doesn't win, because I hate when people who do nothing win

I had either Annaliese or Tessa as my winner picks from the start and now that they're both gone, I'm trying to work out who the hell might actually win.

Sarah looks to be getting a 'winner edit' and seems to be basically be the most well-rounded to win the game, but I think she's too much of a threat to make it to the end. However, if she does make it, there's no way she doesn't win.

Jericho is the other one I'm thinking may have a chance, he's not really a threat at this stage and he's well positioned to get to the end. I'm not too sure whether he'll be able to own his game and articulate himself well enough at FTC, because that's the kind of thing that can win or lose you jury votes.

Hahahaha well, I'm pretty stumped now.

I reckon it's between Jericho and Michelle.

Best 6 players ended up the first 6 on the jury I reckon, basically all as a result of wanting each other out.

Personally, Tara and Jericho are basically certainties to make the FTC I think.

Spoilers for tonight's episode obviously:

Reeeeeeeeee I preferred last night's survivor to tonight's ;_; there goes the last of the likeable characters (and the last character who's good on the eyes), now we're mostly left with nobodies - Tara should have been gone pre-merge but is now on the way to the final tribal. Pete has never done anything. Lochie is a dickhead. Jericho and Michelle are okay but mostly neutral. I'd take every member of the jury over the best of those five.

In terms of how much I like the final five I'd go 1. Michelle 2. Jericho 3. Pete 4. Lochie 5. Tara

Well I'll be rooting for Locky from here on in...back against the wall and always respect a contestant that battles for that immunity necklace every week and has the skills to do it.  Wouldn't be happy with anyone else winning except for maybe Jericho, doesn't talk BS like Michelle and Pete who imo are both snakes.

Can't wait until I win S3 (assuming channel ten is still alive by then) so we'll finally have a good winner of this show (I hope)

Whoever wins final immunity wins the game, no chance they don't take Tara (who would probably be the biggest goat since US season 22). Gotta say I'm disappointed by the challenge, last season it was fine but we don't want it again. The final four challenge would've been a more appropriate final challenge.

Tempted to get all up in Jericho's $1.25 odds.  Any chance Pete and Tara turn on Jericho?  Not likely but very possible.

Season 2 done and dusted, congrats to Jericho took much more of a hold on things after the "louder/bigger" players got voted out.  Almost thought he was going to kill himself by his final statement, was horrendous, but I would think it also had to do with english being his 2nd language. "Escape Goat", yikes!

Tara's final speech was very well prepared.  She killed herself when she said she started playing the game on day 45?!?  WTF!  :o  No way you're going to win saying that!

Final jury was great, I knew Jarred was going to vote Jericho to win, wanted to make it a bit more suspenseful.  Luke basically applauded Jericho in his speech, including answering that coat tails question better than Jericho.

Reunion was pretty cool following the US set up, prob dragged on for longer than it needed to, but was good to see things about the players we didn't know, like Henry's mother passing away.  Love that Pete got no air time at all, he was one bitter contestant.

All in all a decent season, miles ahead of season 1.  Hope there will be a season 3.

Nicely summed up, and I agree with all of it

Jericho's final speech and answers to questions were brutal to watch, he just kept shooting himself in the foot but was always going to beat Tara

Henry did mention his mother passing during the actual season ;)

Enjoyed the reunion too and hope S3 gets the go ahead

The best player from the final four won, good for him.

Just too bad literally every member of the pre-final four jury would've been more deserving to win

Tara the worst survivor finalist/goat since who, Phillip? Will Sims? Natalie W/T?

Why?  This game is all about adabtability, the aggressive players failed to see that and it became their undoing.  Entertainment and ratings wise yes, but the game has changed so that dangerous players get done asap.

Henry - was in prime position, decided to breakaway from his core alliance then failed to use his immunity idol.
AK - his social game was horrendous and he was so cheesy and tacky it was completely transparent
Lachie - didn't do much wrong except lose immunity

The rest of them made mistakes through out their games.  I hated Pete and Tara for getting to the end because they were dumb and boring as bat shower, but they got there playing the game that was needed.

How can the game be adapted so stronger more involved players last longer.   Every season the strong players are so busy taking each other out, the hangers on, non physically or socially threatening players get carried through.
