The ‘Jing season might be over, but there’s no use telling the players that. Over the past 4 rounds, four consecutive 140+ scores has seen Beijing the 3rd highest scoring team during that time, but only netting 2 wins to remain as the 2017 hard luck story. On this kinda form, you could mount a case that Beijing could win their remaining 6 games to finish on 9-8 and on the brink of the 8. I sure would love to see it, but just how deep is the word “Blitz†branded in their flesh? Meanwhile at the Dillos, this final stretch of the season will probably only serve as preparation time for the trade period I’d wager. They don’t really look like beating anyone at the moment and until they find a genuine captain, I don’t think they will. I’m sure a captain option will be of top priority come the trade period... maybe someone like a Pendlebury. So yeah, Beijing for mine.
Something the Cobras won’t want to have happen this year is for their highest score to have occurred in Round 1. So far, that is indeed the case and apart from two other 130+ scores, the Cobras have been lacking this season and I think I’ve gone through why in the past. They won’t make finals, but I reckon they’ll get up and beat someone they shouldn’t in these last 6 games, and it’d be GREAT to see it happen in one of the next 3 weeks against New York, Rio or New Delhi. The Revolution have got most of the crew together now, but that 150+ score that we’ve assumed would be consistent with this list has yet to arrive and really, until it happens... they probably don’t deserve to be in the top 4. However, what they do have is the ability to find ways to win and that will be a real weapon in the finals. The coaches nearly brought it to AAP last week, but as is my fear for New York, once the quality teams get on the big stage... they tend to go really big. I don’t think the Revolution will have to this week, but I’m watching them closely until they do.
The Saints’ coach would have had his jaw dropped, eyes wide but forehead veins bulging last week when Gibbs scored 208 without representing any team. Gee, that REALLY would have been handy to this side that is amongst a handful teetering on the wrong side of the 8. Every game counts for this side, and Gibbs could have proved to be a match winning difference (but he definitely wouldn’t have been captain when Boyd and Blakely are around). Their opponents this week... are in the top four... are the Cairo Sands... hmm. Normally only one of those ends to a sentence applies, but both sure as heck do were we can now safely say Cairo is the surprise team of 2017. They’re 8-3! 8 and 3! This team will make finals! Well, it’d be really brutal if they didn’t from here at least and I can’t help but wonder whether a loss here will insert some doubt in the minds of Karen and how damaging that could be. Still, can you imagine if they won the premiership? Phwoah. Yeah, Cairo for me I guess.
The Royals have really been struggling of late; they are the lowest scoring team of the past 4 rounds and haven’t scored 130+ since Round 6 (though that might not be a problem this week). Just not a whole deal of leadership present at the Royals and they really could do with another two quality midfielders to sit alongside Shuey and Hanners. The team that was once 4-2 is now 4-7 and yet the difference in scoring between these two periods is only about 80 SC points less. They just need to start scoring closer to 130 again and they’ll keep getting a win here and there. But yeah. For Berlin? I don’t really wanna talk about it. Pushed hard this year, but look set to miss finals and start a rebuild next year. Not looking forward to it.
Awwwww dayum! WHAT A WIN! And what a vital win?! The Suns had one player left and he needed to score 82 points to win the match. And Kade Simpson did. Assisted by HGA, the Suns won by 1 SC point against the big scalp that is Pacific and when you haven’t been performing that well lately, these wins are huge. Sitting 7-4, the Suns only really need 3 wins from here which, although not that guaranteed to be honest, they should get with bottom 4 teams Buenos Aires and London to come. Had they lost to the Islanders, I would have been worried about their chances, but I reckon they go on from here. The Reindeers have been pretty fortunate in their last two games where scores of 117 and 124 has gotten them wins. PNL now sit 5-6 amongst the nervous group outside the 8 and still have some hope of making finals. I’m gonna say it’s pretty unlikely, but if they get back to their form from Rounds 6-8, they can beat all of their remaining opponents. But not everyone is London or Buenos Aires, so these sub 125 scores ain’t gonna cut it. Mexico City for me.
The highest scoring team takes on the 4th highest scoring team in what I declare as my MATCH OF THE ROUND! Yeah, that one stings. How has this team lost 5 games? Actually, do you know that Pacific’s average winning score is 145, whilst their average losing score is 140! Most teams don’t even average 140 and two of them are in the top 4! It really is incredible how much the draw dictates the ladder and to be honest, I love it. I’m still confident the Islanders will make finals; sitting 8th a game clear of 9th and a game behind 7th but with the 3rd best percentage in the comp. They just gotta keep scoring like they are because surely the opposition won’t keep rising to the challenge? The Destroyers reclaimed their throne as the most potent scoring team of the comp, and to be honest that’s a pretty impressive feat given I called them out only 3 rounds ago. They were coming off a 3 week period at an average of 129 ppg, only to then average 159 in the proceeding 3 weeks. Are they back in business? Most definitely. Have they reclaimed premiership favouritism? Ask me on Sunday. I want 300+ points in this match where I think Pacific might just again lose big.
The Jags 6 games winning streak came to an end last round in a solid contest against New York. Ever since Round 6, Rio have been superb going at an average of 146 to quietly sit 7th on the ladder. I don’t think I have ever been so confident that the team sitting 7th on the ladder with 6 games to go will make the finals and if it were up to me, I’d have them with the 3rd best odds at taking out the premiership. If they start trusting GAJ with the captaincy again (which would have won them the game against New York), there is no reason why they can’t go back-to-back. Sigh, I don’t look forward to writing about Tokyo sorry Boomz. There hasn’t been a lot to praise for a long time now, given your last win was in Round 3 and your last decent score was in Round 5. What I will do though, is proffer to you that Stretch is a chance to be selected at Melbourne either this week or next; he’s been superb at VFL, except Melbourne just keep winning... but I’m confident given our three consecutive 6 day breaks, some midfielder is gonna get sore and then BAM! In comes Billy! Oh right, yeah the Jags for me.
Wow nelly! I called it! I’m not sure it was in the Round 11 previews, but if not it was Round 10 or 9, but I said Seoul was due to go BAM and BAM they went! They obliterated the Cobras with the highest score so far this year on the back of not only a rampaging Dangerfield, but the rest of the team finally came to the party. The trio that is Oliver,
Dangerfield and Kelly is at the envy of the whole comp as all three sit inside the top 13 best mids of the comp. This team should not only make finals, but do some damage and frankly I can’t wait to see it. The dream run at Moscow finally came to an end last week, despite scoring their best score of the season against the Thunder. Sitting 5-6 after once being 1-5 and totally written off, the pencil eraser is starting to hover around the team from Moscow... but the reality is that in any moment it’s gonna turn around and scribble over them with thick, grey leaded rage. They can only really afford to lose one of Seoul, Dublin and Rio, whilst PNL, Christchurch and Buenos Aires aren’t guarantees. But I’m really lovin the ride here, and I don’t want it to stop! However, I expect Seoul to slam on the brakes this week.
Over the last three weeks, Toronto have been the 5th highest scoring team of the competition! To me, that’s kinda like saying Melbourne are the 5th best team in the competition... I’m both looking for tell-tale signs that I’m dreaming, but am gosh darn excited until proven otherwise. Personally, I’m thrilled at how Toronto has turned things around and I would find it fitting if they were to topple the team most famous for their turnaround in the Tigers this week. Just think, the coaches that steered the team that won the 2015 spoon just guided EurAsia to victory last week. However, New Delhi isn’t nearly as scary as they were early this season and tbh, if Dublin fire again and the Tigers either lose or don’t fire themselves... I’d have no choice but to change my premiership favouritism to the Destroyers. Six games have gone by since New Delhi last scored 150+ and I think it’s time we all got a reminder of the Tigers’ premiership credentials. New Delhi to win and go 160+.
good man purps doubt us as usual to fuel the reindeer fire :P
and we are now down Lin Jong Purps so easy win for you.

We could've had Oliver playing for us had JB made one little agreement in a Clayton/JOM exchange. :-X
It's going to be a stretch, JOM won't play unless he's fully fit for the Hawks and our midfield is too weak right now.

You'll probably steal my mids like Dusty and Treloar and then talk about how great you are for having them. Plus mids are injury prone, look at Nathan Jones.
Also why do you lie so much? 77 isn't in the 60's and Roughy is just warming up.

@Rio, Jacobs isn't in your LG. To be fair, he was listed as being on your leadership group in the OP of the Leadership Group Thread until now, but that was because I forgot to update the thread of the last couple of changes, despite them being updated in my spreadsheet. Your VC now is Cripps, but you can still change it

Just making sure Holz' opponent knows that this has been approved by me, as Holz has accepted a strike, allowing me to name his team based off preferences, where only the Adel/Haw players were locked in. This means Crouch was named as U1, and he was lucky Greenwood snuck in as the 18th man, but he was able to still name the players from other teams around him and other Adel/Haw games.
Also, god damn Fyfe. And me for not being able to replace him in time.

Surely if Crows and Hawks players were already locked out he can't have them?
He's taking a strike, which effectively means he didn't name a team. In those circumstances, I would name a team for him, which would include all available players. He accepted the strike in-between the partial and full lockouts, meaning he could still move around the other players.
The risk is that if he gets another strike later in the year, he loses a premiership point.
Will do a score update a bit later today sorry guys, been a bit unavailable over the past 48-72 hours
That's a pretty clever way to go about it.
But Holz named a team??

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of this seeing as he had already named a team.
Surely those players are locked, then the rest of the team gets filled on preferences once the full lockout is in effect if he didn't name the rest of the team.

Agree as he had named that team and taking a strike the Crows/Hawks players listed should be the only players from those 2 clubs allowed and then team filled with priority list then.

It's pretty obvious what happened here.
Holz knew exactly what would happen if he took the strike, if you look at the Friday team and the team Purps has put up for him, it's pretty obvious that the one Purps has suits him a lot better because it includes Crouch and still gets Greenwood.
Surely that can't happen.
What am I missing here?
He named Thurs players to loop, and then named the rest of his side Friday morning
He forgot Crouch, so he's not in the side this week, as per the Friday listed team
What's the problem?

The issue is that he's not getting the Friday listed team. He accepted a strike to get a team based on preferences, but those preferences only apply to the Crows/Hawks who were locked while also having the ability to name the rest of his team as per normal because they weren't locked, and so he gets Crouch and the players he was looping.
That's just ridiculously flawed
How on earth does he get Crouch?
He should have the Friday team, and no strike
A strike shouldn't even come into discussion. He named a team on Friday and that's that

I wonder if Crouch had done crap would things be different? Not sure when you've been allowed to have two cracks at naming a team.

If you've named a team, you can't then say you haven't named a team and want admin to do it. And if you do, then surely everyone that's already played can't be used in any way, or at the very least in the same positions as last round.

Of course i know what would happen. I asked what the rule was and purp told me.
If people dont like the rule vote on it end of season. No point whinging now.
Im playing by the rules and all im getting is what i should have anyway. Crouch in my best 15 as he is every single week.
Spin it anyway you like Holz
Nobody's buying what you're selling
You should be made accountable for forgetting to name a player, and you should not be able to bend the rules and willingly take a pointless strike to benefit
The rules are clearly flowered, but it doesn't mean we always have to wait for someone to exploit them and then make a change after they have, especially when you actually named a team

The rules are what they are. You need to play by them.
I hate the cap doesnt mean i can break the cap just because i disagree.
But you did name a team although only part so in effect team named so it has to be filled by players from thge remaining teams as per your priority lists not players that have already played. This is the basis of argument as you had named a part team prior to lock out and those players should have been locked as well as additional players from those teams.
Think if this is allowed must play it when I forget to name a player as you have done.
You literally forgot/did not name Crouch and have exploited the rule to make sure you get him. That's a cow of a move, but I wouldn't expect anything less.

I asked for clarification of the rule as its unclear for partial lockouts.
Purp told me the rules and i abided by them.
This really is a rule discussion and for that Purp is the man.
Again if people unhappy vote on it and have the majority. Plenty of rules i dont agree with in worlds/afl/life but you got to play by them

Difference is that captain and emergency loopholing is something that Purps oddly encourages.
Happily taking a meaningless strike as a slap on the wrist for being a cow and exploiting a rule is just wrong on so many levels.
As an impartial observer, that is seriously laughable if permitted. Common sense surely prevails.
Isn't the rule something like "if you do not submit a team..." etc etc
And not "if you forget to name a player"
Because Holz submitted a team
This opens up the ability for everyone else to "forget" to name someone in an attempt to loophole them, does it not?
So we can just completely void our own team submissions?

Only in a round with partial lockout, which Purple made clear.
This is the last one if I'm not mistaken, as there's no more Thursday night games?
You can name a team until late the game starts friday night, which means teams are not not named until then and hence you are unable to change the team after. Which would be a stupid move since Greenwood tore it up!

Why does it need to be partial?
E.g. I name my team next week the exact same, but without Pittard, and play Logue instead. Logue scores 30 and Pittard 90. I void my submission and take this week's team with no consequence (providing it doesn't happen again) and gain 60 points. All because i forgot to name Pittard.
Obviously this isn't what Holz meant to do when he didn't name Crouch (presumably anyway), but this is what is effectively being allowed, and could be the difference in a win or loss at some stage.
Alrighty guys, lay off Holz and settle the flower down. I'm actually quite disappointed at things said.
I told him he could do it, if anything I should be the one being questioned as to whether I implemented this correctly.
We've done it before, albeit in those instances the team forgot to name a team by Thursday night. If I'm honest, I forgot that this was a factor. My sparing availability of late didn't allow me to think it through, and yes, you guys are right, it shouldn't have been allowed to happen, and I'm taking it back. The team Holz named Friday morning will have to stand.
My sincere apologies to Holz for flip flopping, and telling him he could do something that he wasn't able to do.
I also wanna make something abundantly clear. Attacking someone for playing to the rules is UNACCEPTABLE. These concerns should be directed at me, and not the coach that used them. Jesus, attacking someone full stop is unacceptable.
This is my bad, and I'll wear it. My apologies once again, particularly to Holz.

@PNL, you can't name Deluca as he is on your rookie list, and you have others that can play instead.
Moving your E1-E3 up a spot, and on preferences, naming Sheridan at E3
Apologies Purps, so Moore is just our E3 instead? I didn't think it really mattered but will remember to specify next time.
All good purp i play by the rules and if the rules say i go by my original squad then im fine with that.

Apologies Purps, so Moore is just our E3 instead? I didn't think it really mattered but will remember to specify next time.
Yep all good, Moore is E3
Sam Reid got royally screwed because it was so close last night and he didn't impact the last few mins
64 is bs. He was on more than that during the 3rd :(
flower me that's a handy start to NDT.
Stef and Jezza following suit too. :(

@PNL, you can't name Deluca as he is on your rookie list, and you have others that can play instead.
Moving your E1-E3 up a spot, and on preferences, naming Sheridan at E3
haha forgot about that one little tiny important fact....no worries crozier don't let us down
(inb4 we would of been better off leaving casboult...lol)
Also big Patton and shiel go BANG!!
NDT on track for highest score of the year

All good purp i play by the rules and if the rules say i go by my original squad then im fine with that.
Agree though the response from coaches not involved is disapointing.
Jay has no major issue with it and he is the person actually effected.
Its a fantasy comp that is supposed to be abit of fun. Taking it to personal insults is too far.
Can confirm the bit in bold is a lie :)

Word of advice make sure your correct before making calls like that.
I did when i posted my comment.
Pacific would not have been the only team impacted. All teams would have been, but let's move on

Surely they'll get pumped regardless. Garlett, Stevens, Roberton and Colyer will be the main culprits.
1/2 so far, Koby and Robbo remain to be seen.
There was a dog that had a bone and Bontempelli was his name-o B-O N-T-E M... oh you know the rest.
After Saturday night (which was flowering sensational):

You're welcome Boomz.
Dirty feeling that we're gonna get done, quite possibly on HGA.
Jeffy's cooked us.

Ah yeah, forgot to include Duryea's score from the emergencies. He'll come on with his 80.
Selwood concussed and gone in the first minute. As if our week could have got any worse?

Setlle down he is on 37sc at half time. He will probably end up on 60
Tom Stewart, who was on track for a ton, is done for the game after a concussion. Pidge to D4 and Poppy's 67 comes in to play.
Bloody hell, what a week.
Why did I elevate Kreuz to the leadership group only to not even captain him?
Probably going to cost us the game. But if he somehow manages to get us up...

Seoul Magpies (663) from 8 vs Moscow Spetsnaz (740) from 10
1312/13 w/ Swallow and Lynch
1185/13 w/ Sinclair and May
Sinclair and May currently on 95 odd, while Swallow and Lynch are on 50 odd.
Trying to make up 125 odd is virtually impossible, but might as well give it a crack!

Not to be. NDT too strong. :(
Are we actually going to lose this now...
Probably the first and second time I've ever seen the VC take double points that WASN'T a loophole.
Well! Can't say that was a very exciting round of Worlds. Not a single close margin really :-\ HGAs were unnecessary this week
Still, some upsets nonetheless! But you'll have to wait until after Doctor Who to find out. These things are just out of my hands.

Surely they'll get pumped regardless. Garlett, Stevens, Roberton and Colyer will be the main culprits.

Would of been fair for NY vs Cairo to have happened this week
Both captains out within the opening few minutes and a bunch of horror scores all around
We'll be lucky to score 100 LOL

Another upset in this one! Nige broke the rule I have learned over the past couple of years; when you either get chirpy or assume you'll win easily, the world(s) will conspire against you. HGA was technically the difference in that one, if we'd had it we would've won. :-X
Dangers explosive final quarter, combined with Heppell's passenger ship and Docherty's weak second half by his lofty standards made for an unfortunate loss in our hope of finals.
It was 6th times the charm for Seoul & PNL, as they get their first wins against Moscow and Mexico City respectively.
Whilst Christchurch make it 3 from 3 against Cairo.
Some interesting streaks/breaks there ^^

Magpies Mighty over Moscow
A solid match, where the difference was arguably Dangerfield & Oliver, yet again. The Spetsnaz continue to impress me though; you wonder how they'd do with a fit JOM, Hogan and NN.

NY no chance for top 4. RD/AK, I'll bet you 2.5 Nigeys (won from Rocky being goat, pay up Jay you flower ;) ), that Cairo not only beats you H2H this year, but finishes above you on the ladder as well.

Cape Town in with a real shot against New York :o
5 of our best 15 aren't available. Everyone's a shot against us - Toronto showed that!

Happy to package any or all of these with a player for an upgrade on that player. I think I'm 98k over the min cap as well, so any offers that see me losing cap $$$ by more than that I won't be able to accept #scrapthecap #kateuptoncobras #nolibbanony

im pretty sure you dont get Selwood's 3. Your VC gets double points and someone comes off the bench to cover Jelly. But yeah losing him sure hurts.

Islanders need to string a few wins together. Top 4 could be a stretch, but HGA first final is certainly up for grabs.
Rischitelli and McGovern played their first games back from injury in the twos, both are potential starters or solid cover.
Smith hopefully returning in a couple of weeks. Really need our F1 up and firing leading into finals.
