Hi Guys, I have been away for a while so have been out of touch. I have selected this side but am waiting to see how we go with rookies. Plenty of cash left as well.
I am thinking Heeney will play mids this year and he finished so strongly last year.
Bennell, Beams and Hartlett seem risky.
Any thoughts on structure or where to spend cash would be great.
Just about to start having a look at other people's sides
I'd change Hartlett to someone else... Shaw maybe... you're not short of good options.
Your team looks good. Personally I'd choose Goldy over Grundy and consider a change where you've got Bennell but you're well placed to do well atm.

Thanks, I think Hartlett might be a risk. Also think I might be a mid short. Not sure on Goldy this year, I have had him in my team and then I change him again. Lucky I still have some cash left. Thanks heaps
id change hartlett too, with the amount of bank youve got it wont be hard upgrading him, looking pretty good otherwise.
could also up grade beams with that money if your concerned about injury and game management
Not a bad side and structure -
Couple of changes to consider a stronger D3 than Hartlett.
and Maybe downgrade Bennell to a rookie and use all cash to bring in another prem mid. Your team and choice though,
Thanks for the advice, I brought in Shaw for Hartlett, swapped Bennell to Black and changed Swallow to Sloane.
Wanted JPK but was about $12 000 short.
I am still a bit unsure about grundy and beams, thinking Murphy might be a better option.
Any advice on the mix of mids?????????????????

with the murphy or beams decision it comes down to one thing to me and thats injury risk, Beams id guess will have the scoring advantage over murphy but id think murphys body would hold up better.
i wouldnt worry too much about grundy, a lot think he will break out, i think worst case is he averages mid 90s again, not what you want but also not catastrophic.
i like the mid field mix, fairly unique in treloar and rocky with out giving up scoring power to those that dont pick them
I think beams over murphy if beams stays healthy but if he doesn't then murphy it is.

Thanks for the feedback, I will stick with Grundy at the moment! Beams as well. I can't have everyone.

Yeah, fingers crossed he stays healthy. We shall wait and see
Well, obviously Beams is the greater injury risk. His scoring is much better though, so depends if you are looking for a guy who can average 110-120 but potentially miss games, or a guy who probably won't go much higher than 105, but less of a chance to miss games. Personally, I like to go for broke and hope Beams plays a full season, but I'll probs get burnt :P

What i like: Defence and Forward line are perfect, although i'd prefer Touk Miller over heeney more guaranteed midfield time.
What i'd change: Goldy needs to be in there, he had niggles last year and will improve on his scoring no matter what. Grundy is good but his ruck work will stop him from being on the same level as gawn and goldy for the next year or so.
Sloane is a good POD but i'd much rather one of the sydney mids who have a better chance at hitting the 120 mark.
Only way i see those changes working is by downgrading beams... Probably to Swallow.
Swallow will make you 150k and the downgrade means you wouldn't miss out on 20-30 points per week.
Swallow (85) v Beams (110)
Miller (95) v Heeney (80)
Goldy (110) v Grundy (100)
Hanners (115) v Sloane (110)
You'd probably end up saving a trade as well because you'd end up trying to upgrade heeney and grundy. Whereas you're only upgrading swallow and have gotten a good return in the investment
Fast Track has some good advice.
Would look at doing that because Swallow could score 95 and if Beams only goes 105 the extra 200k could become critical to your team.

Hi Fasttrack
Fantastic advice, very much appreciated.
I only went for Sloane because I couldn't quite afford Hanners. the logic of saving an overall trade is sound as I have struggled to hold on to trades towards the end of each year, often dropping out of the top 100 in the last couple of rounds.
What are your thoughts on Rockliff???
I will have a play around and see how I go.
Thanks again

So this is the update, not much has changed. I have $146k leftover, thinking of ugrading Heeney to a premium I am very wary of the Key Position forwards.
Also thinking Shaw to Docherty but not sure. Keeping Grundy over Goldy for now.
Any advice would be great

Solid team!
Grundy is a good selection, less risk, and more unique than Goldy at the momemt.
I like Caddy or Ryder over Heeney. I think they are safer selections.
I'd stick with Shaw over Docherty.

Change Treloar to Pendles and Rocky to Bont and you pretty much have the FF standard team. Sometimes that not a bad thing, othertimes its just too stock standard.
I disagree with a few of these players and I think they will be popular than they should due to being more hyped than a rabbit on sugar. I won't repeat them here as ive done it in other topics.
If I were you I would try and put in Pendles maybe remove rocky or Trevlor.

Who do you suggest I bring in? It is hard not to go with the tried and trusted. I went for too many POD players last year and got burnt!

What if got rid of Heeney for another rookie and brought in Pendles? I have enough cash left to do it. Does that leave me too short in the forwards?
Also I am worried about having too many premium mids to start. Be nice to see how they get along. Can't see pendles getting too much higher than 640

I like that move. Essentially gives you Pendles instead of Heeney. And there are plenty of FWD rookies around to fill your FWD line.
While Pendles wont get much higher than 640k, he unlikely to go much under 600k given how consistent he is.
Easier to start him than try and get him in later

Okay, this is the fourth go. I am loving the midfield, it doesn't really have any POD players in there, this is concerning me a little. Forward line is looking light on, not sure about the rookies, it is all speculative at the moment.
Not much wriggle room with the mids either.
Thanks for the feedback so far, any thoughts are very welcome.
Do not be worried with mids as Treloar 12%, Hanners 11% and Rocky 10% ownership at present.
Watch Simpkin as I think he has an injury.
Structure is sound and team worth sitting on

Good move to bring in Pendles. Team looks much better. Would not worry about PODs make those moves are seeing who is stepping up this year.
Very nice team almost identical to mine.
I have an extra mid premium and you have an extra defender premium though.
I like it. As said earlier wait until you start upgrading to look for the pods.

Thanks, I am still unsure on whether to take a risk with a mid pricer, there are plenty of good options, but I got burnt so badly last year.

fairly sure simpkin is just recovering from his broken leg last year, id imagine he'll be ready round 1
Team is looking good
Alright, I have been working on this team for too long now! I had gone with the tried and true approach but my team was looking like everyone else's there for a while. My head says to stay with a guns and rookies approach but stuff it I am having some fun.
This is the new look team
Shaw, Adams, Tuohy, Hampton, Otten, Mitch Hibberd (Vickers Willis, Z Guthrie)
Danger, Hanners, Proddis, Fyfe, T Mitchell, Beams (or Murphy), Swallow, Brodie (Powell Pepper, Pickett (looking shaky), Miles)
Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)
Riewoldt, Dahlhaus, Roughhead, Nankervis, Bowes, Simpkin (Schoenmakers, Eddy)
30k left.
So many risks I feel. I think Nankervis could work as a top 6-8 forward or a very good backup for sandi.
Happy with Priddis and Titch as POD as opposed to Pendles who I think is just too much.
Round 13 bye is looking a bit shaky.
Roughy is a possible downgrade to improve mids or upgrade Tuohy.
Thoughts please guys?????
Also, thinking of attempting to get Caddy in place of Roughhead. Downgrade Swallow to do so.
Structure still sound>
Not fussed on Tuohy last year was the first time he averaged above 80. New club maybe but a watch for me.
Riewoldt is overpriced due to massive end of last season. Will still be a top forward but expect price drop which is why I am targeting him when he bottoms out.
Some nice PODs. This year is the year to take risks because for the first time in 3 years we have a level playing field no GWS, Suns and Bomber Top ups to rely on.

So I have taken on board some feedback.
New team is:
Shaw, Laird, Adams, Hampton, Hibberd (NM), Otten (Vickers-Willis, Guthrie)
Danger, Hanners, Treloar, Fyfe, T Mitchell, Beams, O'Meara, Powell Pepper (Miles, Pickett, Barrett)
Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)
Dalhaus, Caddy, Roughy, Nankervis, Bowes, Simpkin (Eddy, Schoenmakers).
Thoughts please?
5k left only. Feels solid, maybe one too many mid pricers, Roughy might have to make way to upgrade Caddy as forward line feels a bit weak. Midfield feels right, would love to have Docherty but think he is too pricey.
Nah love the mid ive got no rooks in my fwd im 6 prem and 2 mids.
If u want a player go get him.
Backs: Docherty, Shaw, Laird, Hampton, Otten, Vickers Willis (Otten, Guthrie)
Mids: Danger, Hanners, Treloar, Fyfe, Titch, Beams, O'meara, Powell Pepper (Barrett, Miles, Pickett)
Rucks: Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)
Forwards: Dahlhaus, Caddy, Nankervis, Taranto, McCarthy, Bowes (Parfitt, Eddy)
$97.2k
Okay, this is doing my head in. not sure how to use the 97k, upgrade Caddy, downgrade Docherty to Adams, bring in Marchbank?
Thoughts please anyone
Backs: Laird, Docherty, Adams, Hampton, Ottens, Stewart (Hibberd, V-Willis)
Mids: Danger, Hanners, Treloar, Fyfe, Titch, Beams, Omeara, P-Pepper (Barrett, Miles, Pickett)
Rucks: Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)
Forwards: Dahlhaus, Caddy, Roughhead, Nankervis, Taranto, Parfitt (Houston, Eddy)
Okay, I have 21k left.
Advice needed, do I take Caddy over Greene? I like Caddy for this year.
Do I get rid of Taranto and get Marchbank in? Roughhead or Steele/Petracca?
Any other ideas????
I have changed the team a million times!
Thanks in Advance
