DRAFT IS FINISHEDNOTES:
- Each draftee is worth at least $100,000. Those players whom have never played AFL before are worth $100,000
- You can not go over $11,400,000 - so BE CAREFUL WHEN PICKING PLAYERS WITH SALARIES ABOVE $100,000
- Each team has 24 hours to pick, but if you are online during the time of your pick, you only have 2 hours to make that selection (co-coaches need to be wary of this). After this time you'll be auto picked the next available player from the AFL national then rookie drafts, or alphabetically if no AFL draft players remain.
- You can also choose to have a pick automatically selected in advance; which will be the highest AFL draft pick available. If all AFL draft picks are picked, we then go alphabetically from the delisted players.

I've decided that, given the "pure list cloggers" in Patful and Sam Shaw this year, that I will only enforce you to take a 5th rookie only if your salary cap allows you to.
Teams will have no more than 5 rookies, but a minimum of 4.
Hopefully at least one non-shower guy slides to R6/7/8 :P
Notifications ;)
Purps, I've got us having 13 and 49 but you've got us with 13 and 46?
13, 31 and 49, but we traded 31
Ideally I'd prefer if we didn't have to use the second one and just have 4 rookies because cap is tight, but can you explain the difference in 46/49?
Was 4 rookie always on the cards?
It's quite a big disadvantage to people who cut there team for cap reasons.
I really would have loved to had that 100k buffer when I was getting people in cap.

We were always told we would have 5, possibly 6. Only now it's looking like 4 possibly 5
We can fit 5 because we budgeted for it, but if there is an opportunity to pass the 5th I'd happily take it

It was always gonna be at least 4 rookies, 5 if cap space allows it.

Your pick moved up from 49 to 46 because some teams didn't need to use a couple of their early ones :)
If you have space for a 5th rookie, you must take a 5th rookie. If you don't have space for a 5th rookie, then you'll be fine with 4
So in Royals case with plenty of space we can have 6 rookies so a pick in 5th round.

Purps already said no more than 5 rookies
Yep, we will leave just a handful of players undrafted this year, so no more than 5 rookies :) it's kinda because that I felt "well since Sam Shaw and Patfull won't play next year, I shouldn't make people draft them. So now since we have undrafted players, I won't enforce more than 5 rookies"
Take it away Cairo!
I mean. Only one word needs to be said.

Well, you see, the name is just part of who ol' Wylie truly is. In reality, he's gonna be at least a 3 time Coleman medallist and Supercoach behemoth terrorising both Geelong's and Cairo's opponents for the next decade.

The bloke stuck behind Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton and who has to work his way off the rookie list? Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. That said, the last small-ish forward that came from our rookie list is now playing back pocket and is arguably best 22.
I think you'll find that Wylie Buzza and Rory Thompson among others won't be delisted then.

A whole bunch of meh.
None of them i would pay 100k to eat into my cap. it is these spuds who made me lose roughy.
We kept 3 on our list just so we didn't have to pick 5 new fresh spuds! Those 3 will be gone next year - rinse and repeat :P

Yeah gotta be said that having Jayden Hunt come off of my rookie list this year shows that there's at least some value in the rookie draft - even if it is based more on potential than anything. You never know with some players!
As for Stengle I'll keep my fingers crossed Holz. He has very similar attributes to an Eddie Betts type and bagged loads of goals in the U18 SANFL this year so hopefully he'll come on in the AFL system. Think he's probably more AFL ready than Bolton at this stage tbh.
Lol Jay, you had two picks, not one!
Pacific will be auto-selected Fergus Greene at the FF clock of 3.24 AEDST :-\
For the record, Jay took the last pick and then PM'd me without taking his second pick so I replied to let him know.

Carry on I say.
I'm actually out of the house and was cooking dinner tonight which is why I wasn't on for long. I'm usually out this draft period for all comps when it came to my picks. Only saw as Nige message me on FB cause I went on to get the recipe so it popped up.

I'm actually out of the house and was cooking dinner tonight which is why I wasn't on for long. I'm usually out this draft period for all comps when it came to my picks. Only saw as Nige message me on FB cause I went on to get the recipe so it popped up.

Well, I actually meant to send a message to both of you on FB, but I saw Dom's first so just messaged him and hoped/assumed he'd pass the message on to you if he didn't pick. :P

I've always wondered, do people ask others to pm because they're on their phone and can't?
I pm on phone all the time, piece of cake
Or is it something else?
If I'm out with the boys/on the piss I'll take the time to pick a player but that's about it
Also when I try to click the send pm button I always click one of the other buttons on my phone
And Jayden Hunt is a gun, with his pace, height and skills he'll easily play 200 games
Hmm. Both Moscow coaches were online for a fair while last night and didn't pick. So they get Fergus Greene, unless they come on and pick before London does.
Moscow have had an extra hour to pick and as I have to go out London will take Jed Bews
Will PM next coach
ok next up for PNL is
Max Lynch
Will take the 195cm pure mid, Jarrod Lienert!
Plz be Blicavs 2.0

Still dirty I didn't get Tim Smith and Filipovic >:(
Thanks for the message guys...
It's alright. Greene would've been under consideration anyway.
Mitch McCarthy
On my phone but I'll PM the next coach anyway because I'm not a lazy sod.
I didn't get a message either...thanks for being shower people y'all

I've probably received 1-2 PM's for all drafts combined, and I would think most others would be the same. The PM is a courtesy, not an expectation
You know there's a draft going on, so when your on the forum common sense suggests you check in here ;)
Hmmm I've received a pm/FB message for every pick I've had in WXV and AXVII soooooo
And some people actually have better things to do than have open the WXV rookie draft on their computer and hit refresh every 15 seconds
It is not hard to PM but at times people forget. When I am on I check on how drafts are going and then if it is close to my picks I check back periodically and always check before logging off. Remember we have 2 hrs to pick if on so it is not hard to keep checking periodically either.

You're on the forum, you have 2 hours to check in ONCE to this thread to see where the draft is up to and if your pick is next or coming up then just make sure you pick when your online
It's not hard

Oh I went on here, saw people doging about whatever, and left. Never realised it was our pick because nobody messaged me regarding it as per usual custom.

Probs just check the OP to see if its your pick, and if its not updated and your pick is soon, just check to see if it is. Just takes a minute.
Its a tough gig this WXV coaching, if you dont want it im sure KB will take Moscow off your hands ;)

Last I heard, KB wasn't a huge fan of some of the aspects of Worlds though, so maybe not. :o
But yeah, you're probably right. :P
Jukes may the otherwise, but I was never complaining. :P
More annoyed that I wasted two hours of the WXVs coaches time without drafting on here, but better for it to happen here than in the National or Preseason draft I suppose, especially this late.
Emmanuel Irra
Corey maynard
Max Spencer
personally would like to see messages people after there pick compulsory or an "expectation" as i think its alot easier than constantly checking in on the thread. Its not hard, if you are too lazy to do it atleast say your not going to do it so someone else can.

Just a slight change to the draft order... thank you to Levi for pointing this out to me. I forgot to swap the draft picks in this trade:
Quote from: Purple 77 on August 28, 2016, 03:39:03 PM
Trade 94
Toronto trade: Rookie Pick 38
Rio de Janeiro trade: Cameron Pedersen + Rookie Pick 72
So Rio now has Pick 36 (38 moved up 2 spots) and Toronto now has Pick 55 (72 moved up 17 spots)
Rio de Janeiro Select: Jacob Townsend
Grabbing Matthew Hammelmann for our last pick this off-season!
Rio have 2 picks here so we'll go:
Rio de Janeiro Select: Tarir Bayok
and
Rio de Janeiro Select: Nick Larkey
Fraser Mcinnes
We'll have Tom Jeffries
Sorry can't post a pick for London because all the players on the list Ringo sent through have gone now and he is out for awhile tonight
Will take Connor Nash
Does Berlin need a PM better send one.
I'll take Logan Austin.
If Purps takes him then I'll grab Tim Mohr instead.
Will take good Ol' Ben (Davis)
Shattered meow
Please tell me someone is going to take the dynamic duo of Spindleshanks and Zac Dawson?!
Francis Watson
I noticed JB was online and he's "last online" time was 12:50pm, so I sent him a PM while he was still showing as being online, just in case Toga didn't

one of my easiest picks ever.
Dublin pick Darragh Joyce from Kilkenny County - Ireland.
Jordan Dawson
Rio de Janeiro Select: Jordan Snadden
I'm on my Ipod Shuffle but will still send PM because I'm not a lazy sod.

Perhaps a little common sense can come into play and we just get rid of those two from WXV?

Well, no, because they are on AFL lists and I like to have complete records.
Besides, when did we get so keen to draft every player? I remember a lot of complaints about me enforcing that.
We didn't know studs like Spindleshanks and Dawson would still be available!
