So yeah Australia play New Zealand in ODIs now because why not?
Australia: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), George Bailey, Hilton Cartwright, Pat Cummins, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Travis Head, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa
New Zealand: Kane Williamson (c), Todd Astle, Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Colin de Grandhomme, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Colin Munro, Jimmy Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, BJ Watling.
Keen.
Dumb useless series. How can we say test cricket is the priority when we stick a random 3 match ODI series (that wasn't required under the Future Tours Program mind you) right when our test players should be getting in some more red ball practice?

Well in this case it would be pink ball practise but yeah I think I'm on that side too. Looking at the squads (in the OP now) there's Smith, Warner, Starc and Wade that will have to adjust from pink to white to pink. The first 3 should be fine but Wade should definitely be playing the pink ball shield round not these ODIs.
we won a toss!
Paddy Cummins is in ;D
That's one of the best welcome to country's I can remember seeing
Highlight of the game tbh
yeah well played Finchy
Head should be batting above Marsh
bowling card set up looks shower
why do they always mess with shower. let it be

I blame the selectors....
right
so yeah we're 4 down... but that's with 2 chop ons (that could have easily missed the stumps), one sorta strangle I guess down the legside, and one of those run outs where the bowler just gets his hands on it
I mean, just an ounce of luck would be nice, but ah well
Yeah that wicket is unlucky :/ Trav Head to save the day :D

yeah fair call, forgotten about that
I saw a Marsh named ahead of Head in the batting order and presumed it was Shaun! ::)
Nevertheless, that was a very unlucky dismissal.
Travis Head probably wondering what he did to deserve batting below the joke of a batting allrounder cricketer that is Mitch Marsh.
Maxi also would have done a better job than 1 off 3.
New Zealand have to try to keep Australia's score down every over

Maxwell has scored less than 1 (i.e. 0) in 3 of his last 7 ODI innings, so I wouldn't say that. 0, 6, 0, 0, 3, 46, 4 - absolute spud
Head's overrated too - literally averages under 25 in ODIs and 35 in FC. His whole meme is built up around that ton against the sixers.
Travis Head will finish off this innings brilliantly and prove he is not just a meme
I don't think Mitch Marsh is that bad at short form cricket, not better than James Faulkner or John Hastings though as seam ARs (Duke probably not good enough to bat in the top 7 though)
Head > Maxwell on current form and also potential ability. Maxwell will play T20I when the real cricketers are in India.

It's impossible to represent Aus and not be a meme sorry. You're either a big-hit meme (Warner, Finch, Memeswell, Head), I can bowl fast meme (Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins), just being a bad player meme (Wade, Marsh, Bailey, Zampa, Faulkner), or being a meme of a captain (Smith), and many of those players fit into other memes like good fielder, flat track bully, one-game wonder, etc.

Australian decks are flatter so you'd expect higher batting and bowling averages. Doesn't make them flat track bullies (some are but not every single player)
Have you even seen Zampa play? ;D

Warner just broke Ponting's record of most ODI centuries in a calendar year for an Aussie (7). No wonder Ricky wants to reduce bat sizes, gotta keep his records alive ;)
Equal with Ganguly who has a 7. Tendaulkar has a 9 and is outright top. No more ODIs for Australia this year so can't equal the record :(
more free hits please

probably not the best time to ask that when hes 138* out of 230 after losing 4 early wickets. fair bit of pressure on that even if the series is dead. any game for your country is as important as any other. that's the way I look at it anyway
not to mention the ton in the last game to help us win the series
I remember that innings from Mark Waugh. not because I watched it but because we were on a family holiday and gone somewhere to do something but I stayed in the car and listened to the cricket instead ;D
he was my favourite player too

Just to add to this:
http://www.cricket.com.au/news/david-warner-carry-his-bat-australia-new-zealand-black-armband-highlights/2016-12-09
"His seven ODI tons in 2016 â€" as well as two dismissals in the 90s â€" saw him draw level with the mark Sourav Ganguly set in 2000. Warner has achieved the feat in his 23rd one-dayer of the year, while Ganguly played 32 in his record year.
Leading the way is Sachin Tendulkar's nine ODI tons set in 1998, when India's Little Master played 34 matches. It is worthwhile to note that four of Tendulkar's centuries came in matches against Zimbabwe and Kenya â€" while another four came in a home series against Australia. Warner's tons have come against India, South Africa (three times), Sri Lanka (twice), and New Zealand (also twice)."
Warner's year in ODI cricket probably goes down as one of the best ever tbh
should we just use this thread for this series?
Aussies wom the toss and elected to field
Finch
Head
S.Marsh
Handscomb
Maxwell
Stoinis
Heazlett
Faulkner
Starc (thought he was being rested?)
Cummins
Hazlewood
bit of a waste for Latham, strangled down the leg side
1/13
From out of the team to captain, bit of a turn around by Finch haha
I completely missed the fact Handscomb is keeping haha
dropped Guptill there, finger tipper over his head. nearly knocked it on for 6. ball was flying
Stoinis on and picks up Williamson in his first over!
2/87
Just seen the measurements for this ground and no wonder the rate is 6 per over, Feel for the bowlers.
The straight drives are 54m and 58m and the onside legside boundaries are less than 70metres. Maxi will have a field day if on song.
Maxy misses his 3rd run out chance in the same over
how I miss the days of Ponting...Symonds...Clarke
these were the days (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vfia2JDHY2o)
Stoinis the destroynis! big wicket of Guptill
4/130
Head should have his 2nd. another drop by Handscomb, pretty regulation that one. not good enough unfortunately
Stoinis gets his 3rd though
Yep Handscomb showing his inadequacies keeping to spin (has also allowed byes) and from reports Wade looks like being out for 2nd ODI.
geez Cummins is unlucky. top edges going for 4, bottom edges for 4, drop catches
just a bit of luck for Sir Paddy please
Well that was interesting :P
needed that wicket
gr3at catch Maxy. Paddy finally gets a bit of luck with Santner picking out the fielder
Call me old fashioned if you like but when we played cricket, with no roped boundaries in place, we could take a catch whilst leaning on the boundary fence and it was out. So rules have changed in favour of batsmen. In my humble opinion unless whole body is over the rope catch should be awarded. Lets face it on most grounds if no rope was in play it would have been caught anyway,
good final over for NZ
9/286
bout ready for a nap. damn these day games
2/10 after 3.5 :'( :'( :'(
nothing on hot spot but a big noise and definitely something there on snicko. fair enough

Will be a riot if Stoinis is not Man of Th Match even on a losing side. F you Starc all you had to do was stay with Stoinis for a couple of overs and then had a go. Run Rate required was not huge at 8 an over.

Seriously, Sheffield Shield is more important than this crap. At least those players that are going to India could get a red ball game in before leaving... Why those going to India and not in the ODI squad aren't playing I have no idea (Swepson, Renshaw, Agar etc)
Also, you'd think that a ground that is in a country where it rains should have awesome drainage.

Really the best options would've been for the squad to already be in India playing tour matches against Indian sides. But four matches are a thing of the past now so they should've been playing Shield.
They could replicate Indian conditions here and have the squad using it or playing tour matches there they could have sent another squad to NZ we have plenty of players just ask jukes , but no we will go over to India and get smashed because the conditions are so foreign for the players the CA will say cant understand why that happened ::)
this little girl loves her cricket ;D
