DRAFT IS FINISHEDWe need to wait until final list lodgements, both AFL and WXV, before we can start. Likely start will be sometime between December 1st-2nd
NOTES:
- Each draftee is worth at least $100,000. Those players whom have never played AFL before are worth $100,000
- You can not go over $11,400,000 - so BE CAREFUL WHEN PICKING PLAYERS WITH SALARIES ABOVE $100,000
- You only get a pick in the preseason draft (and a first crack at the rookies) if you pass a pick in the International Draft
- Each team has 24 hours to pick, but if you are online during the time of your pick, you only have 2 hours to make that selection (co-coaches need to be wary of this). After this time you'll be auto picked the next available player from the AFL draft, or alphabetically if no AFL draft players remain. However, the 2 hour rule DOES NOT APPLY TO FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS.
- If you plan to pass a certain pick, you may want to do it in advance so we don't have to wait for you to pass.
- You can also choose to have a pick automatically selected in advance; which will be the highest AFL draft pick available. If all AFL draft picks are picked, we then go alphabetically from the delisted players.
- TO USE A PRE-SEASON DRAFT PICK, YOU MUST PASS ON AN INTERNATIONAL DRAFT PICK

Yeah our first pick isn't until 50, and we need get 12 players from 50 onwards to fill our seniors :-X

Good Ol' Ben Davis
If you don't get him I won't be happy!
With 17/18 list lodgements in, I can say that the first four rounds of the draft are as originally posted. So far, the highest pick that will go unused* is Cairo's Pick 75!
It's never that late :P
*passing a pick to go into the PSD still means you use it
Also, just awaiting the final go ahead from Toronto (James Kelly) and Tokyo (Matt Dea) to start the player bidding process for former players.
Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think there was any former players drafted by AFL teams this year (aside from those who were on an AFL list in 2016)?
Still awaiting word from Tokyo, but Toronto has nominated James Kelly as a former player.
Bids start from a 4th round rookie draft pick.... (hierarchy is this draft, then PSD draft, then rookie draft). Obviously, you can only bid for Kelly if you can fit him in your cap.
I hope to start this draft on the morning of December 1. The deadline for the bids will be 11:59.59 AEDST on the 30th of November. Toronto will then have to decide whether or not to match the bid, then we can start the draft (same with Tokyo).
Fire away!
49 on Kelly
48 on Kelly
Hearing stories from credible sources that Taranto has done his acl while furiously masturbating. GWS wants to keep it quiet for a few days to pretend he did it at training.

Pacific without a single NAT Pick, has that ever happened before? Can't recall ever seeing that, but haven't been around since the beginning

meow did it last year I think
Everything in the OP is up to date :)
If all the lodgements stay the same, then that's the draft order and pool of delisted players available
A reminder that all promoted rookies are on a senior list, so you don't have to nominate a pick to upgrade them
So we use NAT picks to select Delisted WXV players?
I thought we used PSD picks for them for some reason
Ah well, bugger waiting for tomorrow - lets get this thing started now!

Lol, 2pm is Cat B rookie deadline! Also gotta hear from Tokyo about whether they'll nominate Dea or not

Hopefully! But I'm torn, because I gotta give enough auction time for Matt Dea... the starting time is a grey area at this stage
Alrighty!
Bids for Matt Dea are now open, with the deadline for bids (now also James Kelly) being 9am tomorrow.
Pick 56 for Dea
N35 for Matty Dea
And the bidding time is over!
For James Kelly, the leading bid is Pick 47 from Dublin. Toronto now has to choose whether to match the bid with Pick 67 or not.
For Matt Dea, the leading bid is Pick 35 from Cape Town. Tokyo now has to choose whether to match the bid with Pick 41 or not.
Once that's done, Cairo can start the draft :)
I'll be matching the bid for Kelly.
Welcome back Pops!

Yep, so pretty stoked to get him for 67.
Can we just start seeing as the Dea thing doesn't matter until pick 35 :p
I mean, I'd be extremely shocked if we got close to 35 today.
Given the general activity levels of half the coaches in this comp these days, I don't see the harm in starting now.
Other comps have started reasonably slowly too and I'd be very surprised if Boomz didn't come on at least once between now and the time we get to 35 (which I daresay, at a rough guess, will be some time tomorrow night if we're really lucky, more likely Saturday or Sunday).
I'll match
Boooooo. Starting the draft soon in like my busiest 4 days period of the holidays with all our picks 36 or before.

Wake me up when Pick 50 comes around!
Nige editing the OP to make the draft open :P
But also on that, if I could kindly be the one to update the draft order as picks are taken in the OP, that'd be great, because that's how I make sure I enter in all the selections in my spreadsheet and ensure I'm up to date 8)
I also, also, LOVE, doing it, with my OCD and all :P
McGrath and McLugaggeasdefneasalf
Jacky Bowessss
So, as you can imagine, Polo and I had immense difficulty making this selection. Polo hasn't slept for about 6 months because the decision between who to take at Pick 1 was that agonising. And then we finished last, so we had Pick 1 and 2. That just added to the nightmare. How do we choose who to take with Pick 1? What makes him better than Pick 2? Pretty simple really, a bloke with a name like Hugh McCluggage pretty much has to Pick 1.
Hahahaha
And because it's what valkorum would want, Ando 'steal of the draft' McGrath with Pick 2.
Yes, I know Polo already took our picks, deal with it.
Davey had to go steal our guy :(. We'll pick the man beast himself, Will Brodie. Gonna be a bull and rip sides apart starting with Cape Town.
This guy
We wanted Brodie. :(
I do wish we had another couple of picks in the 10, but we will be perfectly happy to take Tim Taranto.
Hi Meow,
I'll be passing on Picks 68, 78 and 89

your missing the point, its that there is only 2 guys on my list for the pick.
others might have 6 or so guys they would happily take with their pick.
basically if they both go then i rate pick 47 as high as pick 60+ and might even pass on it.

2 hour rule doesnt apply first round of worlds draft anyway so he does have the 24 hours :P

He was, straight after I picked.
Been out all morning and working with my assistant as to who to take from the list but also considering next pick not till 43. Should be up before the 2hr period.
Don't agonise over it too much Ringo, you'll probably trade them cheaply after one season like you did with Schache anyway.

Yeah he probably should have traded the pick to you, so you could stuff the pick up and then give them away in 2 years.
After a lot of discussion around 3 2 players and one I can trade to Meow Meow (haha) after next season maybe have gone with
Willem Drew. Wanted a pure mid who will probably play early and Drew the best credentialed to meet this requirement.
Realise it is probably a bit early for him but our next pick not till 43 and he definitely won't be there then. .
He probably wouldnt have been there after 11 ;)

I didn't say anything about the 2 hour rule - I know it doesn't apply for first round
Was just saying that he had been online, but not picked
Really thought he would have been taken in the top 5, was not expecting him to last to 7...although I also wasn't expecting another player to be here as well, and was a close call between the two
Cobras welcome Ben Ainsworth 8)
Shows how much study I have done when I had never even heard of Drew until now and was thinking wtf how did he get picked so early lol
Thrilled to grab SPS here!

He was living in the shadow of Hugh McCluggage all year... That's probably why. I got him highly rated on BXV. But about 12-15 in SC.

After slamming Meow's recent drafting, I give it to him he has the pick of the draft soo far.
But was kinda gifted to him with the clearly elite guy left on the list.
Guess i have to grab Setterfield then :)

This is why I wanted another pick in the ten, basically gifted players between 7-10.

Pretty sure I had to give up a pick to get him so it's not really a gift. I traded Stringer to get the pick. Time will tell if it's a good move or not.
Stoked to pick up this guy here. Good quarterback-style intercept player with a damaging left boot on him, and best of all he fills a need for us down back 8)

Doubt he'd last until 39. Wanted a defender and I rated him as the one with the most potential. Would be left with a KPD at 39 probably.

I have a fair idea of who I want, but I guess I have to confer with Torpy first. If he doesn't get back to me within ~30-45 minutes I'll take him.

Torp hasn't been on for 2 hours so I'mma just step up and take the pick. The more I've looked at this guy the more I start to like him - the next Cyril Rioli (who averages quite nicely) and is a West Aussie - Shai Bolton!

Back to the draft board
If you went Rioli over Marshall then i would have picked Marshall ;)
44. Christchurch - Sean Darcy
45. Christchurch - Cedric Cox
46. Cairo - Thomas Stewart
47. Dublin - Todd Marshall
48. Seoul - Willie Rioli
4 of those 5 were on my list :'(
We'll open our campaign by being the first team to select a delisted player
Lachlan Keeffe
We think the Pies are going to be relying on him a lot with so many changes to their backline now

Why use NAT 37 on a guy you can get in the rook draft?
Plus, he's not from WA and I only draft WA guys in the natty
Pat Kerr
We'll go with the long term project. Only 17 years of his age, the kid looks good!
Lewis Young
Royals will take a project player as well Jake Waterman
Sam McLarty
Pass
Tom Williamson
Ed Phillips
Brennan Cox
Joel Hamling
Matthew Signorello
Harry Morrison
and Brady Grey
We'll also use the next two picks to upgrade Archie Smith and Simon White please purps. Then pass on the remaining picks
Cameron Polson
Quinton Narkle
Esava Ratugolea
Why not take a punt on this guy. Has the X-factor, just needs the work ethic to go with it.
Shaun Edwards

They've already been upgraded. But I noticed on your list lodgement you plan to take 3 PSD picks? So, pass your remaining 3 picks?
Oh, and Purps we will pass on Pick 90 so as to use our first PSD pick. So that's the International Draft done for us!

A little known fact about this guy is that he was one of the GWS pre selections like Jeremy Cameron and Dylan Shiel.
