Welcome everyone to the AXV Official Trade Thread for the 2016/17 off-season!
DRAFT RULESTRADINGThere will be two trade periods in each season.Post Season.
AN AGREED TIME AFTER COMPLETION OF THE SEASON BEFORE THE NATIONAL DRAFT OF THE FOLLOWING SEASON
Window to trade players, draft picks. Closes before the National Draft.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 10
Trades may be uneven in this trade window in regards to how many picks and players are swapped.
A team may trade a player and a draft pick swap for a player and a draft pick swap
( e.g Boyd and pick 14 for Swallow and pick 2)
Pre Season.
AN AGREED TIME AFTER THE PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT PRIOR TO THE START OF THE SEASON
Window to trade players only.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF LIST CHANGES = 5
A team must trade the same number of players in and out i.e 1 for 1 , 2 for 2.... ect. ect... in this trade window. Trades must also be for players on the same list, i.e rookie for rookie
TRADE APPROVALCompetition admin decides whether a trade is passed or blocked. That decision is final as voted in at the end of last season.
Trades must be confirmed by coaches from all clubs participating in the trade in this thread, or by pm to the administrator before it will passed or blocked.
* You may trade a rookie listed player for another teams senior listed player, or visa versa in Trade Window #1. BUT
- The player you trade in MUST go onto the same list that the he was already on (senior or rookie)
LIST MANAGEMENT RULESLIST MANAGEMENT: You have a Senior List (capped at 40 players) and a Rookie List (capped at 6 players).
* In the following seasons, players you have on your rookie list can be promoted permanently to your senior list using a National Draft Pick. They can also be delisted.
* In the following seasons players you draft in the NATIONAL DRAFT can be added to your senior list only. This will mean you have to DELIST players who are on your senior list, to make room for the new players.
*In the following seasons players you draft in the PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT can
only be added to your rookie list if from the AFL rookie draft, but can be added to EITHER list if from a remaining player pool or from the afl preseason draft. This will mean you have to DELIST players who are on your senior and or rookie list, to make room for the new players.
DRAFT RULES2. THE NATIONAL DRAFT: This draft will be 5 rounds of selections from the players taken in the AFL National Draft.* The National draft order will be performed in reverse order of the finishing position of teams after finals. (Teams knocked out in the same final will be separated based on ladder position at the conclusion of the H&A Season.)
* The draft will repeat.
* You will forfeit your draft pick if you have not picked within 24 hrs of the preceding pick or within 2 hrs of being on line following preceding pick. Should this situation occur you may take you pick at any time following from players still available.
**NOTE** Teams may choose to PASS at any time any number of times during the National Draft. ( Most likely reason for this is to prefer to take a player from the left over players from the Initial draft which will be available in the rookie/preseason draft along with AFL drafted players in the AFL rookie/preseason drafts.)
When a team chooses to PASS in the National Draft, they will receive that pick at the same number/position in the preseason/rookie draft.
3. PRESEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT: The preseason/rookie draft will be 5 rounds of selections from the players taken in the AFL Pre Season and Rookie drafts.* The preseason/rookie draft order will be the same as the National draft order, ALWAYS and will repeat.
* You will forfeit your draft pick if you have not picked within 24 hrs of the preceding pick or within 2 hrs of being on line following preceding pick. Should this situation occur you may take you pick at any time following from players still available.
PRIORITY PICKS: Teams finishing with 4 wins or fewer (16 premiership points or fewer) in a single season, will receive an additional draft pick following the first round of the national draft. If this occurs two seasons in a row, a team will achieve an additional draft pick prior to the first round of the national draft. (This rule will be effective starting with the 2016 Season).
KEY DATES

November 22 - List lodgement required (delistings and retirements)
November 25 - AXV National Draft Begins (Following completion of AFL National Draft and relevant threads updated)

APPROVED TRADES
TRADE #1
Bangkok Crabs give: Dumont + Sexton + nat 33 + nat 65
Taiwan Dolphins give: nat 4 + nat 21
TRADE #2
Tibet giving: Jarryd Lyons + NDP 15
Dolphins give: Conner Blakely + Brandon Jack
TRADE #3
Bangkok trade: Mitch Robinson
Hong Kong trade: N20
TRADE #4
UAE Tigers Give: Trav Cloke
KL Crocs Give: N34
TRADE #5
Bangkok give: Matt Crouch
Tibet give: Devon Smith
TRADE #6
Taiwan give: Reilly O'Brien
Turkey give: Jayden Hunt
TRADE #7
Taiwan give: Cameron Guthrie + Tory Dickson
Kathmandu give: Brad Ebert + Pick 43
TRADE #8
Taiwan Give: Jayden Laverde + Pick 33
Turkey Give: Brendan Ah Chee + Pick 58 + Pick 74
TRADE #9
UAE Tigers Give: Stefan Martin.
HK Dongs Give: ND #1 + RD #1.
TRADE #10
Bangladesh give: Shane Savage + Rupert Wills
Laos give: Taylor Walker + Jayden Short
Reasoning: Savage and Walker are both solid scorers in their respective positions and Wills and Short both have potential
TRADE #11
Bangkok Crabs give: Seb Ross + NAT #16
Manila Folders give: Jamie MacMillan + Nat #8
Reasoning: There were a few complaints that MacMillan was worth more than Ross, but Ross has enough potential to pass.
TRADE #12
Mongolia give: Jarrad McVeigh
Sri Lanka give: Jarryd Blair + N63
Reasoning: Youth of Blair + pick balances out McVeigh's scoring power as a defender, and he probably only has a season or two left in him
TRADE #13
Taiwan give: NDP #43
Tibet give: Jeremy Finlayson
Reasoning: Easy pass
TRADE #14
Tibet: Hammalman
Gazelles: R25
Reasoning: Easy pass
TRADE #15
Strikers give: T.Scully+ K.Mutimer+ #47
PNG give: T.Bell+ T.Campbell+ #7
Reasoning: Lots of deliberation on this one. In the end decided that Bell has scoring potential, but doubts over whether he can get back to his best at Brisbane, Scully now broken out as a true premium midfielder. Bell + 7 = Scully thereabouts.
Campbell good scorer, with mid 90s avg but lost his place in the Dogs' lineup in the second half of the year and could seriously struggle for regular game time in 2017. Campbell = Mutimer + 47 thereabouts.
TRADE #16
Ales give: R.Gray + Himmelburg + Nat #35
Tigers give Hodge + Goddard
Reasoning: Hodge/Goddard probably have 1 year left in them each, and while they are 100+ players, aren't the fantasy powerhouses they used to be. Gray has a few years left as a 130+ ultra-premium and Himmelberg was pick 32 last year in AXV Draft, probably still worth something around that so I think it can pass.
TRADE #17
Taiwan give: Dean Towers + NAT 37
Sri Lanka give: Thomas Barrass + NAT 31
Reasoning: Two players that will play AFL and be AXV depth, slight pick upgrade for Towers higher scoring ceiling against Barrass being a KPD.
TRADE #18
Llamas giving: Anthony Miles
Strikers giving: NDP #14
Reasoning: Miles is a strong scoring midfielder, being 110+, which is better than what pick 14 will likely score for a few years. But, the pick has good potential to turn into a gun themselves, probably about the right pick for Miles.
TRADE #19
Tibet giving: Matt Kennedy + DP #43
Turkey giving: DP #9
Reasoning: Kennedy was a #7 AXV Draft pick last year. Hasn't set the world on fire so far, but definitely has the potential to turn into a fine player. Fair enough to pass based on that.
TRADE #20
Bears give: Jono Patton + N54
Gazelles give: Liam Duggan + Matt Taberner
Reasoning: Patton still has a lot of potential, but is yet to prove he can be a consistent performer. Duggan has made a solid start to his career, but does not appear to be a high fantasy scorer as of yet. Taberner has to be a risk in Fremantle's forward line and if he can hold his position. All players are quite risky fantasy prospects, and with the pick the trade is fairly even.
TRADE #21
Bangkok give: nat 49
Sri Lanka give: rook 28
Reasoning: Easy pick swap
TRADE #22
Taiwan Trades: ND 69
Hong Kong Trades: Alex Woodward
Reasoning: De-listed player for a nothing pick
TRADE #23
Crabs Trades: Kristian Jaksch+ N#81+ R#46
Strikers Trades: N#79+ R#44
Reasoning: Easy trade - fringe player for a slight pick upgrade
TRADE #24
Manila gives: Jake Neade + NAT #41
UAE gives: NAT #35
Reasoning: Neade was going to be de-listed, 70 average for a forward is fairly poor, worth a pick upgrade.
TRADE #25
Strikers give: N#37+ N#49+ Alex Johnson
Dolphins give: Will Langford+ N#53+ R#34
Reasoning: This was a closer one. If Johnson can get back he will likely score decently in this format, quite an if though. Langford seemed to go a bit backwards this year, averaged 90, but was only in the firsts for half the year. The Dolphins continue to improve their draft position with a couple of pick upgrades, so just close enough to pass.
TRADE #26
Bangladesh give: Charlie Dixon
Turkey give: Shane Kersten
Reasoning: Surprised to see Kersten averaged around 10 PPG higher than Dixon this year, both from a similar number of games. Charlie has shown in his Gold Coast days that if he can stay injury free he has a higher ceiling than Kersten, but Kersten appears to be a bit more of a consistent performer. Easy enough to pass.

SECOND TRADE WINDOW
Taiwan give: Brad McKenzie
Mongolia give: Cameron O'Shea
APPROVED PENDING BOTH PLAYERS ARE DRAFTED BY AFL CLUBS
Reasoning: This is a trade for the second trade period involving 2 players de-listed by their AFL clubs. If they both remain on AXV lists by the time of the second trade period it will go through.
Posting for updates. :)
Trade window is open!
Let's get this started!
Bangkok Crabs give: Dumont + Sexton + nat 33 + nat 65
Taiwan Dolphins give: nat 4 + nat 21
Reasoning: Crabs have an excess of mids so losing a great young kid like Dumont wont hurt too much. Taiwan adding depth in the mids and were after Dumont and Sexton which is too much for nat 4. The other picks level that out. Sexton is currently on our rookie list so will need to go on to the rookie list of the Dolphins and be elevated.

Tough to let NAT 4 go obviously but I really like Dumont, and I think he suits this competition perfectly. Sexton has been unlucky with injuries but willing to take a punt on a young 94 averaging midfielder. With Caddy likely to get forward status I really need midfielders. Picks level it out.
Bangkok Crabs trade M.Robinson + Mathieson + Nat 49
UAE Tigers trade S.Martin + Nat 13
While we didn't want to lose Mathieson something good had to be offered up for nas to lose Martin. We need a ruck with Nicnat going down and nas needs mids, so this trade very much suits both teams' requirements. The combination of Matho + Robbo is worth more than Stef, so the exchange of picks is to even it up

Robbo with a chance of retaining DPP & Matho helps the centres needed, & whilst losing Stef is unfortunate, mids are more of a concern.

As is well known, Tbag is desperate for midfielders as his current line looks quite thin. Blakely had a very impressive first season, and has plenty of scope to improve in the Dockers rebuild alongside Neale and Fyfe. I am really sad to see him go as he will be an absolute star. You would think he would play every game for the next few years and just get better and better. Lyons had a good year without the use of a sub vest, but in an Adelaide forward line boasting Lynch, Jenkins, Tex and Betts he could only manage 14 goals. If he loses forward status and sits on a wing, wiith Sloane, Matt Crouch, Brad Crouch, etc etc looking like doing well next year in the midfield, you have to wonder if there is enough points on offer to raise his average beyond what he achieved this season. It is possible, but far from certain.
Brandon Jack is averaging a shade under 130 SB in the NEAFL and just needs an opportunity to show what he is made of.
Cheers for getting back to me about Blakely Koop!

Bangkok give: Matt Crouch
Tibet give: Devon Smith
Reasoning: Bangkok need a fwd. Tibet are after a mid. These guys seemed a simple swap to help out the needs for each team. Same age and potential.

Turkey give: Jayden Hunt
Actually was rather an easy process. Turkey badly needs ruck depth, I needed defensive depth, both players have shown promise in their first seasons given their respective positions.

Unfortunately two of a star midfielders are old, very old and Jobe is still yet to commit for 2017. Sammy Mitchell may only have a year left so, we lose a star small forward but I think the deal had to be made as we still have a few forwards that struggled to make our top 4 each week due to depth.

Whilst losing Goddard & Hodge will be a big loss & only maybe going around for 1 more year getting Gray having a few more years + Himmelburg earning a spot in the NEAFL team of the year shows promise + the ND2 #35 balances out the trade.
Confirm.
This is exactly why we sought some extra clarification on why the Martin/Robbo/Matho trade failed and how it was assessed. From our reading of it, if judged by the same criteria this one would fail too. But obviously as an unbiased admin you must feel that it passes, otherwise why post? .......even more confused here now

Taiwan give: Cameron Guthrie + Tory Dickson
Kathmandu give: Brad Ebert + Pick 43
Mah boy!!! ;D Brad had quite a down year this year in a relatively poor Port team doing considerably more negating roles. There is no guarantee he will return to previous form under the current coaching staff, but @ 26, its a risk Im happy to take. Gives me a solid VC option.
Guthrie is a slight chance for defensive status, but showed some incredibly good signs over the course of the year and is still only 24. Tory Dickson has kicked 75.23 in the last two seasons, and while is on the older half of the 20’s, provides a great FWD emergency/cover option with his accuracy.
PB to confirm.
I can't believe I'm giving up Ebert.... But I'm in love with Guthrie more and seeing as Ebert isn't Ports number 1 mid and Guthrie is Geelongs number 1 (Yes I went there) I had to try to find an offer that worked :) Tory Dickson usually kicks straight and will help up forward which seems to be full of players that keep losing form or losing fwd status...
Confirmed it is :)

Taiwan Give: Jayden Laverde + Pick 33
Turkey Give: Brendan Ah Chee + Pick 58 + Pick 74
Sad to see a young talent in Laverde depart, will take big steps forward and go close to 100+ in 2017. I could be paying too much but I really rate Ah Chee. He averaged 123.2 unsubbed in his first year, and has been playing off the forward flank for much of 2016, still averaging ~90. Could be a prime 3rd year breakout candidate with another pre-season, and not just in XV's. Pick 33 is a loss but that late things can get slightly murky so we will take our chances, especially with us needing to make room on the senior list. 58 and 74 will both be much-needed rookie upgrade picks.
iZander to confirm.
Has Ah Chee got a contract yet?

Confirm, Ah Chee is a great AXV player and sad to get rid of him. But i get a bomber and Koop gets a "porter" (idk?). So makes us both happy. Also Koop has a few guys to upgrade on the rookie list where as i probably wont upgrade mine and id like to take a punt at N33 instead.

Tex may have had a poor year, but we all know that when he's on, this scoring system is catered to his abilities. Fortunately, I've got great forward including young guns like Darcy Moore ans Callum Ah Chee who showed extremely promising signs as future starters and scorers. Always hurts to lose a Tiger and I really like Shorty but we need someone a bit more established and with better scoring ability as our defence really let us down this year ans Savage perfectly fits the bill. Rupert's a gun but still has to properly cement his spot in a Collingwood list with 500 mids but showed enough to suggest that he's at the top of the pecking order.
Big trade here, finally increasing the Folders' mid depth.
Bangkok Crabs give: Seb Ross + NAT #16
for
Manila Folders give: Jamie MacMillan + Nat #8
We have to give up a bit with the first round pick, and MacMillan, but with Carlisle coming back from suspension, and Mills to most likely get defender status, we have the defensive depth to cover the loss.
Getting Ross will be a great help to the midfield and give it some more scoring power, hopefully he can keep improving over the years to come.
Pick swap is there to balance the trade out, mid first round pick for end of first round pick.

We needed a solid defender to shore up our ranks down back, although McMillan hasn't set the world on fire he is best 22 for North so barring injury is sure to play each week.
Whilst it was no easy decision to let Ross go, especially as we still see further improvement in him, it's just a case of having to give in order to get.
The swap of Nat picks from last in the 1st round to middle of the 1st round is to even out the difference in points averaged
(125 vs 97).
Mongolia give: Jarrad McVeigh
Sri Lanka give: Jarryd Blair + N63
Reasoning: Jarryd is the new Jarrad, Mongolia's weakest line is easily our forward line, after some significant retirements we needed to bring in a decent player who can act as some solid depth for a few years while the likes of Sicily and Charlie Cameron develop. We have an abundance of defenders, so while McVeigh has been Best XV for a long time now, we have to give a little from our strongest line in order to help the weakest. Sri Lanka have 3 premium defenders in Simpson, Suckling and Johannisen, so McVeigh completes their very strong backline.

McVeigh might only play one more season, but hopefully he signs on for another year once his current contract expires.
Blair is much younger, hardly ever misses games and is a consistent solid scorer.

PNG give: T.Bell+ T.Campbell+ #7
We are giving up a young Captain choice premium and taking a bit of a gamble on this one.
Bell has to bounce back to previous scoring and Campbell needs to start getting regular games for this trade to work out for us.
Scully is worth Bell+#7 and the other bits basically covers Campbell. PNG get the risk free Premium and need to pay up for that privilege.

Really needed some more strength in the mids to help us next season and hopefully Scully can keep tracking in the right direction. Think Bell will bounce back after his first season at the Lions was interupted by injury and Campbell is ruck coverage who has shown he can score well. Mutimer and #47 a small amount to balance out the trade.

Losing Stef is a loss, but having the Ruck line of the Saints means he can be let go.

Hey guys, quick question. Was doing some research regarding what teams had players of interest and such, and noticed that Lin Jong is not present under any team in the trade thread. He is a Lamb on UF but I could find no record of him being re-drafted after his delisting by UAE in 2013. He is absent from Mongolia's team thread as well as being absent from every team list thread during the BB/Colli era. How did he end up with Mongolia? Something I'm missing or has he just slipped through the cracks? (ala Dylan Roberton from 3 years ago?)
From memory Nails (Hong Kong) drafted Lin Jong? Unless that was in BXV not here.. ???

yes this needs doing before the site shuts, as already pointed out by Rids
Some things I've come across from surveying 8 of the teams so far.
Shaun Grigg - Not on any team list in the trade thread. He is a Lamb on UF and I believe he needs to be added to their list in the trade thread.
Matt Eagles - Cat B rookie, will add to list.
Dennis Armfield - A Lamb on UF, but was not selected in the last draft, where he was on the previous players list. So should be available in the rookie.
David Cunningham - On PNG's list on UF, was drafted by them in 2015, hasn't been included on FF.
Corey Maynard - Cat B rookie, will add to list.
Shaun Grigg was a part of the Charlie Dixon trade, Dixon is still on our team list as well as Bangladesh's, but we received Grigg from Bangladesh in exchange for Dixon.

Yep, thought that was the case. :)
Team lists really do need to be updated as soon as trades are processed, otherwise this is exactly what ends up happening. Makes for unnecessary headaches in many ways.
This all should be done in the process of tidying up the 2016 threads. Will require some time to be done correctly as it means the team lists etc will need to be cross referenced from here to UF and then any issues investigated properly.
I've de-listed my only top-up player Mark Jamar on UF.
Bangkok Crabs seem to have lost our last Nat pick somehow :o
Do believe Nat 81 should be ours........we haven't traded it that's for sure.

I've de-listed my only top-up player Mark Jamar on UF.
Removed all my delistings (UF) as well as trades (T Cloke /S Martin)
Personally not convinced removing players from teams on UF is a great idea at this stage. I would suggest waiting till people have had time to cross reference FF and UF and make the necessary amendments otherwise the work they have already done may need to be repeated.
Okay finished crosschecking, only other two I came across;
Mohr - is listed as a Llama on UF, not present in team lists and is a Bear in previous years threads. However is in Tibet's team thread.
Clay Cameron - Is a free agent on UF, however is a Lamb on the team lists and is listed in their team thread. I think that needs to be rectified on UF.
This doesnt include crosschecking to see if players are on the wrong teams, the list in the Discussion thread has been updated with Eagles, Maynard, Armfield and Jong.
So what's the verdict on Jong? Is he no longer a Mongolian Lamb? If so, are we able to bid Rookie picks AFL draft style so that he is able to remain with the club? Our plans going forward definitely involve him, and he would be a frustrating loss at this time of year.

Confirm.
It's a pity that tbag had to lose Finlayson. I like him and just think he is starved of opportunities. Also really helps our list management as he goes straight onto the rookie list, so one less player to cull to take all our good picks. Simple process thanks tbag. :)
Tibet: Hammalman
Gazelles: R25
Originally thought it was Himmelberg but ill go ahead with it anyway lel
Taiwan give: Dean Towers + NAT 37
Sri Lanka give: Thomas Barrass + NAT 31
Towers is expendable forward depth for us and we've swapped him for some promising, albeit currently low-scoring depth in Barrass. Barrass is 6 years younger than Towers and the swap of picks is to further balance the average disparity currently involved.
Jay/UTM to confirm.

Llamas - CONFIRM
Few more trades to post up here.
TRADE #16
Ales give: R.Gray + Himmelburg
Tigers give Hodge + Goddard
Reasoning: Hodge/Goddard probably have 1 year left in them each, and while they are 100+ players, aren't the fantasy powerhouses they used to be. Gray has a few years left as a 130+ ultra-premium and Himmelberg was pick 32 last year in AXV Draft, probably still worth something around that so I think it can pass.
That should be all trades processed and done now, except for the one by Koop and maidens yesterday which we still need to look through before we give it the all clear.
Let me know if we've missed any trades along the way.
Just a reminder that we also have the 10 IN/OUT list movements cap for this first trade period. I've updated it in the opening page, and here's a copy of how I currently have it.

Here's the next lot of trade approval, apologies for the delay.
Taiwan give: Dean Towers + NAT 37
Sri Lanka give: Thomas Barrass + NAT 31
APPROVED
Reasoning: Two players that will play AFL and be AXV depth, slight pick upgrade for Towers higher scoring ceiling against Barrass being a KPD.
Llamas giving: Anthony Miles
Strikers giving: NDP #14
APPROVED
Reasoning: Miles is a strong scoring midfielder, being 110+, which is better than what pick 14 will likely score for a few years. But, the pick has good potential to turn into a gun themselves, probably about the right pick for Miles.
Tibet giving: Matt Kennedy + DP #43
Turkey giving: DP #9
APPROVED
Reasoning: Kennedy was a #7 AXV Draft pick last year. Hasn't set the world on fire so far, but definitely has the potential to turn into a fine player. Fair enough to pass based on that.

APPROVEDReasoning: Patton still has a lot of potential, but is yet to prove he can be a consistent performer. Duggan has made a solid start to his career, but does not appear to be a high fantasy scorer as of yet. Taberner has to be a risk in Fremantle's forward line and if he can hold his position. All players are quite risky fantasy prospects, and with the pick the trade is fairly even.

Happy to take AJ and park him in order to help the Strikers list management. :)
Taiwan give: Brad McKenzie
Mongolia give: Cameron O'Shea
Just a swap of delisted players hoping for a second chance. Will need to be a period 2 trade as I'm all out of Period 1 inward movements.
FTC to confirm.

Confirm.
Despite Dixon being older, scoring less and being more injury prone i expect big things from him this season!

Yep sorry for the delay, confirmed.
Rulings here for all but one trade which is still being deliberated. Once all trades have been processed, the draft thread will be updated. After the AFL draft is complete, I'll update the OP with players available to be selected. Hopefully we can get started with drafting tonight!
Manila gives: Jake Neade + NAT #41
UAE gives: NAT #35
APPROVED
Reasoning: Neade was going to be de-listed, 70 average for a forward is fairly poor, worth a pick upgrade.
Strikers give: N#37+ N#49+ Alex Johnson
Dolphins give: Will Langford+ N#53+ R#34
APPROVED
Reasoning: This was a closer one. If Johnson can get back he will likely score decently in this format, quite an if though. Langford seemed to go a bit backwards this year, averaged 90, but was only in the firsts for half the year. The Dolphins continue to improve their draft position with a couple of pick upgrades, so just close enough to pass.
Bangladesh give: Charlie Dixon
Turkey give: Shane Kersten
APPROVED
Reasoning: Surprised to see Kersten averaged around 10 PPG higher than Dixon this year, both from a similar number of games. Charlie has shown in his Gold Coast days that if he can stay injury free he has a higher ceiling than Kersten, but Kersten appears to be a bit more of a consistent performer. Easy enough to pass.
After much deliberation, the below trade has been negged.
Both coaches provided strong reasoning why it should be passed, but in the end, too much was based on the potential of Knight and Beech. The value of Vlastuin as a mid 80s averaging young defender in his team's best 22 was seen as too much to be made up by the pick upgrade, especially when the value of Lamb as a young player is also factored in.
